My wife's phone wont boot and all that comes up is this screen. I've tried the 3 button combos to reach recovery or download. the phone wont load at all. Can someone please point me in the direction so I can remedy this?
Thank you

Try the various combinations of 3-button combos.
If that doesnt work, make a usb jig
just search for it on xda
OR
use youtube for a step by step approach.
The best way is to solder in the correct set of resistors (I think its ~ 300K ohms) onto a mirco usb male adapter and insert into the usb port on the captivate. The phone (provided the batttery is charged) should enter download mode.
Again instructions are everywhere, just look up 'usb jig'
I got mine into download mode by buying a 300K resistor and just bending the pins and placing tape between the ends .... easy fix but may take some time to get it right. THe idea is to press down on usb pins 4 and 5 in the phone which are the two right-most pins when facing the phone. I used this vid to unbrick mine:

Also, if youre not keen, have time and money on your hands, just search for it on ebay, theres plenty of ready made ones too.

Stop USB debug mode from being annoying?

I like to have USB Debug Mode enabled, but it has this annoying feature of making me disconnect both the internal and external storage separately. Without USB Debug Mode, it's very simple! See:

You can't just click on the icon on the task bar to enable and disable usb communication?

LOL.. or just use the phone's notification bar to have the phone un-mount the SD Cards rather then your computer?

But you're supposed to dismount it from the computer first... And yanking the cord without doing so will eventually lead to corruption, won't it?

Technically it can, but it is very unlikely. The reason it says that is so that some random idiot doesn't yank the cord during data transfer.

+1
Wait till all the data transfer is complete. Prefer to wait for like 5-10 seconds atleast after the transfer dialog closes, and then u can simply turn off usb storage on phone, and yank it out.

May be a bug. just restart the phone. if its still ter, take all backup and reset the phone.
hey ya i did all of what u have said man,,, but the problem still there
If your are familiar with Flashing. then download latest available firmware from the below link and flash using PC Odin. (Read all instructions before Flashing)
Download firmware from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
hey man ,,, its not working too ,,because the device looks like its connected to the usb cable while its not ,,, so i can't even flash it the PC doesn't recognize it
Any problem with charging??
its workking i can charge it ,,, i just made the battery goes to the zero then i charged it to the full again but the problem still here
unplug your usb cable, go to system settings>wireless n network>USB utilities>connect storage to pc(make sure ur usb debugging is unchecked) Then u will asked to plug in your usb cable... then click the appeared screen btn.
i did that too ,,but its still gives me the same problem ,,, cuze i can't even use the usb mass its keep tells me that the cable is already connected while its not
not this again
Take out battery put nail varnish remover on toothbrush or something similar and give the usb port a really good clean and leave for 20 minutes to dry before replacing the battery.Moisture has got on the terminals and has oxidised its not broke but needs cleaning also dip the end of your usb charge cable in the nail varnish remover as it will have transfered from the phone port.I had to repeat 3 times but has been fine for 3 months now there are least 2 other threads with this problem, post back with results.
good luck
hey man thank you for the reply ,,,
but the phone is new,, can i install ROM with out ODIN ??? any new method ??
i just can put files to the SD card through the Bluetooth or WiFi.
so please help me ppl
Not being an expert, it sounds to me like some kind of factory fault. I would probably try to get it replaced *before* messing with custom ROMs...
it has about week here with me ,,,n every thing was fine ,,, just suddenly happened
Just do what I said problem solved bye.
ya. Its better to go for replacement.
Clean the USB port
Been fighting that with mine. A poster suggested a link and it had a photo of a dirty & clean port.

Along with that, I noticed a "greenish" corrosion that was shorting the right most set of pins. I used a stiff non metallic brush, after removing the battery and scrubbed it off, then hit it with blast of compressed air.
You really need a powerful loop or magnifying glass to see it clearly.
Here's what it looked like. I found a photo of a micro-usb port and painted in
the area where the junk was.
Also, various posts suggest that using a lint free cloth with alcohol to clean
it all out. Also, it might be a combination of dust, dirt, moisture getting into the port. Perhaps a rubber plug would help?

[Q] D4 Screen Toast - How To Recover Files?

My D4 bit the dust tonight after having it for a year and a half. I think moisture from leaving it in the bathroom during my showers killed it. The phone gets power, but when I turn it on I get white/black static. It won't even show the Motorola boot animation. I am wondering if there is a way to get my pictures off the internal memory card? When I plug my phone up to the computer I get the little sound that my phone is connected, but it doesn't show up. I have tried a reset and booting into safe mode, but the screen just shows black/white static.

Hi, it sounds like you got the same problem as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2552978
I wonder if more people will pop up having this problem suddenly. Can you check if you can connect to your Phone through adb when on the static screen? That still seems to work here.
It might make sense to move this discussion to that other thread to have one location for the people having the same problem.

[Q] Can I recover this LG G2 ? Snow on screen(see pic)

I got this phone the other day, It's just got snow all over the screen (it's out of warranty) so I opened the cover, pulled off all connectors and re-seated them (didn't remove any boards, just what was accessible once the back covers were off.
I am new to Android but, this model I have replaced 2 Displays on (not this phone), seems I get one for cheap with a broken display, I fix it and someone offers me more than triple what I paid for, so I keep selling them :-/ (a man cant turn down a big profit). So I know how to pull this phone apart and replace parts if needed. I was looking to give Android a solid shot here (I am a Windows Phone person now)and not sell this one...
Not sure if the display is toast or this is just a Bricked or something else.
Note:
-If I connect to a PC, it connects fine
-When the phone is on, If I touch the lower of the screen, I hear clicking
-Double click on the center of the screen wakes up the display.
-Verzion software tool does not detect the phone (even though a drive is mapped for it)
Also to know, I have never rooted a Android device, so no idea on how to tell if it's rooted or not from the file system. Yea, when it comes to Android devices, I am a NooB.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !
Ok, Still trying to trouble shoot this, figuring it was a Brick or something with a lot of effort (The touch screen seems to work but, power off was a guessing game where to push to get it into bootloader mode).
I tried to go back to Stock with it, following these directions...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Now during the process, every once an a while, on the top of the screen, I can see about 1/2 of the ICONs, it's static so it does not update but, it's the most I have seen off this display.
After showing Successful, it's still doing the same thing. accept a hair of it, static across the top of the screen.
So, does this lead down to a hardware based issue (if so, what part should be replaced), or is this display damaged and needs a replacement ?
Has anyone gone through this and can help ?
Edit, Picked up the one of the cables for the phone that the video, power, headphones all plug into, as all my problems are resulting in something that plugs into this cable, figured I would give it a shot, The only things that are left are the Main board, or the display itself.
Maybe this will fix it ?

I need to recover photos from note 9 asap

Hello, I have just got my replacement phone from Verizon's insurance company. so i been holding off a couple of days to retrieve my lost photos since my screen in severely damaged. If i try connecting it to my pc it doesnt show any files, yet the new phone does since im able to enable the MTP connection. I tried using a keyboard plugged in via the OTG Adapter, granted it works but the screen wont turn on, only when the phone turns on I can see the top half of the screen; then a few seconds will go by and its black. Doing anything will keep it locked even if i try typing it anyway. Please help me figure a way out to get my photos back so i can send the claimed Note 9 in the mail this evening. Thanks!

Do you have a USB-C - HDMI Cable or Adapter ?? That's the only way i can think of you getting access to your Note 9!
