I´m looking for an app which easily let me swtich between Data-Connection on/off.
I´ve tested APN on/off widget and one which is called Toggle Data.
Both start and stop the data-connection correctly, but a few seconds after stopping the connection starts again, think thisis a HD2 specific problem, because these apps work with other phones.....
Has anyone found an app which works with the HD2 LEO?
there is a widget pre-installed that's called power control, i use it to turn on/off wifi, data, gps, and display light. I don't know if every build has it.
The build that i use has no widget called power control.....
There's plenty of widgets for this on the Market. Just do a search on there for things like "power control" or "control widget" etc..
I use SwitchPro. It's a paid app, but only cheap. It's VERY configurable and I highly recommend it.
I have tested Switch Pro.
When I try to enable/disable data connection, nothing happens.....

Are you using Gingerbread? I only ask because Gingerbread doesn't play nicely with some apps, and I found a lot of the toggles didn't work with Switch Pro on Gingerbread. I'm back to Froyo now and they all work perfectly.
Yes I´m using gingerbread.
Ok i guess this is the problem.......
Hi,
I use data enabler, its free to download from the market. It does not allow to turn off/on data connection, but it takes you to mobile network menu and with widget placed on home screen you get fast accsses to it. Works on Gingerbread without problem.
I recommend Quick Settings free from the market, does the job nicely.
Check on Market 'CurveFish'
Go to market and type in 'curvefish' They have a bunch or widget toggle switches for free. The one you will be interested in is their 'APN OnOff' app.
*Edit* Tried it, your right, turns off and then back on again. Sorry.
try Dataswitch its a free app

Apndroid works best for me, especially combined with 3g watchdog, makes sure i can't go over my limit

I've tried just about every reasonably rated run/bike app on my Aria (Endomondo and RunKeeper seem to be the best) and always have the same problem.
I start them before a run/ride, but shortly after I begin, my screen turns off and the app seems to close. It actually is still running (when I press and hold the Home button, the app appears), but when I reopen it, my current run/ride has terminated.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to keep the app going when my screen turns off?
Thanks in advance.
i use runkeeper and dont ever have that problem, the screen normally stays on the entire time unless i manually lock it or change screens
i dont even know how to change the settings to make it do anything different
I also use runkeeper without any problems (running Liberated Beta 5). I start the application/activity, lock the screen, and it runs without fail either in the background or as the primary running application.
Are you using some kind of automated task killer or battery saving application? That is the only thing I can think of that would explain the closing of the app when your screen shuts off.
your old thread is still here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=742912&highlight=endomondo

I never saw your trackboost suggestion. I did a search on the Market and it couldn't find it. Can you send me a link to it?

I don't use a lockscreen. I just turn off the screen with the power button.
Not aware of using any task killer or battery saving app. In my task manager, it is still running.

Same issue with Meridian Pro player, the widget would make it crash.
Deleting the widget, clearing application data, then re-adding the widget fix it.
Note that clearing the application data makes it forget your unlock code for the pro version. Make sure you have a copy of your code before clearing the data.
I miss the Froyo keyboard, i loved to just swipe my finger up and get another pair of lines with symbols, WHY WAS THIS REMOVED!!!
Or perhaps is not removed, anyone knows?

Annoying amazon mp3 app is still there!
Can't access to Google Voice app (no more icon). The application appears as installed in the market. Can't open / uninstall from the list of applications (appears in grey in all apps list).
Anyone have the Trillian 1.0.145? (final beta before it went to market)
Seems to be the only app not working for me, never completes log in.
Not really an issue, but I.was so much hoping for copy/paste to work in gtalk but I still can't copy in gtalk.

I always chuckle when people say they avoid CM7 and other ROMs because they want to "avoid bugs".
Irony at its finest?
Don't know if anyone will care, but if you spam tap "Android version 2.3.3" you will see this image:

Do you really need to keep evangelizing CM? This is XDA, we know about CM7. If we wanted to be running it we would be already.
When you go to the USB storage connection screen the button seems to say "Turn off USB storage" no matter whether it's already on or not.

Yeah, me too.
Just close the Market and then re-open and you're back at the new one. You may need to kill Market in app management, or just wait a couple of minutes to go back in.
I'm having the umts hsdpa switch issue. It switches back and forth every few seconds, and I have strong signal. Anyone seeing this?

I use Dazzle Widget. Also allows me to move Wifi, GPS, Sound, Brightness, Bluetooth, etc all to the homescreen with a widget.. Works wonders
What ROM (if any) are you using? Anything 2.2+ should have the option to disable/enable data connection from the power menu. Otherwise, the extended controls widget worked well for me.
Widgetsoid works great for me.

Thanks alot guys for the response, appreciated it very much..
I picked the widgetsoid2x, as what the above poster mentioned it runs really good and it does what it says in the description..
I Recommended that app..
Thanks again!

I'm looking to turn a hero into a media player for my daughter. Any recommendations for a rom? I have run cm7 and liquid sense on the hero. She uses my rooted evo on 3.5 sense and cm7 nook color all the time so sense is fine but am looking for a stable rom and OC kernal. Is anyone doing this? I would also like to remove the dialer.
Imo, for roms Cm7 & jbob's latest are fine if your just going to use it as a media player. Also as far as removing the dialer I wouldn't recommend that because more than likely you would receive alot of force closes. The dialer and the radio can however be disabled by doing this.
Open up your dialer and dial
*#*#4636#*#*
Then hit dial.
After that a menu will appear.
Then choose phone settings.
Then scroll down until you see radio.
Then select disabled/turn off radio.
Then press the back button until your home screen appears.
The dialer is now disabled. It can be opened but no calls can be made. To hide the actual dialer icon I think you can find a different launcher on the market that has the feature to hide apps/icons in the app drawer. I don't know of any off hand but you could try with the most popular launchers which seem to be Adw & launcher pro. But a search on the android market for launchers will give you way more results. Hope this helps.

Well, it's up and running if anyone is interested. Using the last CM7 nightly with mobo player, netflix, Google Music and other media fun. 16GB card packed with movies and music. MIUI camera but didn't see much difference.
I'm going to flash TeamheroC-7.2.0-RC over the nightly without a full wipe and see if I can avoid re installing everything.
i'm all ears for other recommendations\opinions especially for either an all in one media app or other video player with a nice widget.
I ended up not doing to EPSL code. I had gotten an app called Seal from the Amazon free app of the day and put that on instead to block the markets, phone and a couple other apps. Working nicely.
looking for a good data app that will notify me when i'm reaching my limit.
I have 6GB which is plenty but i download a lot of tv shows on the fly and always cut close. So any app that i can set a schedule to worn me or even turn off data when i'm about to hit my limit? Would prefer one that is free.
So on this discussion anyone know a good streaming site for TV shows? MX Player + MU was prefect for streaming but now that's not the case since MU got shutdown

You can turn off the icon in the settings. Don't know if that gets rid of the ongoing notification (personally I like that part).
I use an app called "Quota" from the market, you can login to your ISP's webportal to see what they THINK you have used vs what you think you have used, I find it works well

There isn't one for the ongoing notification, but if I go into 3GW, hit the little gear icon at the bottom, there's a 'Notification Icon' section in the settings, with 'never visible,' 'always visible,' and 'visible if 3G is active' options.
I used to use 3G Watchdog but I wanted to find out WHICH applications were the data hogs. I now use My Data Manager Free.

My Data Manager Free is just what i as looking for
ICS will solve all of your problems.
I started off using My Data Manager Free, but so far I've found Onavo to be much more accurate. Both months I used MDMF it was off by a few hundred mb. So far Onavo has been accurate to a few mb.
