Theming widget problems, please help - Android Themes

Sooo im pretty new to theming stuff in android.
What ive been doing is using root explorer to make a copy of the apk file of the widget i want to modify to my sd card so i can insert the modded image. Then i use root explorer to replace the entire apk file back into the /data/app/ folder.
So all is well and the widget function properly up until i restart the device or my launcher restarts. When this happens the widget says "problem loading widget" i think, and the app no longer shows that it is installed.
can anyone shed some light onto what im doing wrong.
please and thank you

Apps with widgets should be installed to the phone, not the sd card, or it has issues with the widget.

Transparent Power Control and Genie widget

So I noticed that CM6 Froyo Remix ROM was missing the Genie weather and the customizable Power Control widget. I use only those two widgets on a daily basis and it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction.
I've already tried Googling and downloading a transparent Genie widget from another site but after installing the widget, my phone had to force close the app maybe because it wasn't compatible?
Anyways, it would be nice if somebody can help me. Thanks in advance!
maybe u can try beautiful widget instead
I've already tried that app and honestly it isn't my cup of tea.
Is it possible to just extract the genie apk from a ROM and install it onto the one I'm currently using?

thats probably because you have to completely uninstall the old one first
go into root explorer or whatever file manage you use and DELETE the newsandweather or geniewidge apk
then reboot, just to be sure
then install it
bet it works then

Nvm... I just Googled it myself. C;
I used to ADB to remove the GenieWidget.apk and used this command to reinstall the transparent widget:
adb remount
adb push GenieWidget.apk /system/app/GenieWidget.apk
I'm sure majority of the people here already know how to do all this but I'm typing this as a reference in case I flash my phone again.
Hmm tried to install this on CM6-RC1, but now i can't load my new & weather anymore lol.
Luckily i made a backup.

[Q] New Music App (honeycomb?)

so the new music player supposedly to be released with honeycomb is out via apk. anyone been able to get this working on cm 6.1?
I've tried installing it via terminal but only force closes. Most likely because its made for hdpi devices and not mdpi
I heard somebody had got one version of it working on their slide, not sure of the rom. Probably CM6... Except it had a problem with draining the battery.
Unless uhh, I'm delusional. But I think that's what it was.
When i had the apk, n tried opening it on astro wouldnt show the apk. Well it would show but would tell me 2 extract it only. Wouldnt show me th eicon of the music player to install it.

Try it on gingerbread it doesnt appear to function prior to 2.3. Atleast on other phones it works on 2.3 only.

[Q] Samsung Keyboard

I had DL30 and loved the Samsung Keyboard, actually preferred it above the android, swype and gingerbread keyboards.
So i went ahead and I pulled the AxT9IME.apk and libXt9core.so out of DL30 and put it onto EB01. rebooted my phone and the Samsung keyboard came up as an option. Selected it and it just force closes until I switch back to another keyboard.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do to get this to run correctly? Am i missing another lib.so file?
Any help would be great. Thanks
Thanks imnuts for posting the zip file.
***See post 11 to download!
there was talk about this in the irc today...the file you need that makes the keyboard work with eb01 is actually from a captivate rom. it is called libdhwr.so. its working on my phone, but i dont have a link to the file anymore. ill see if i can link it to you somehow.
heres a link to the file... http://db.tt/xoNjtyc. ..i take no credit for this...someone else figured it out (sorry i forgot your name)
So where do u apply this file

grab file from the link above (libdhwr.so) and then down load DL30 to extract the files in my original post.
Then using root explorer put AxT9IME.apk in system/app folder
Then put libXt9core.so and libdhwr.so in system/lib folder.
I just rebooted and then the keyboard was there.

Imnuts. Flashing that by itself would give me the keyboard?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Man I love the design of the Samsung kb but I really don't like the auto correct or whatever. When I'm typing it feels like the keys are shifting or something even though they don't appear to be? I hope that makes sense. Lol
auto correct can be disable in setting under language & keyboard then choose Samsung keypad. look through there and you will find the options to disable auto correct.

You can also use Rom manager to install zip or using Rom manager to install with sos3's build your own setup and just download the Samsung keypad.

Root explorer free alternative?

I want to be able to move an apk into the system app folder and root explorer has been the only app that allows me to do that but I wanna do it for my gf's fascinate and I don't wanna buy it again. Actually I did extract then but then.once I got there I couldn't get it into system apps. I used super manager and I would try to copy the apk but everytime I pressed copy it would say "prepare to copy" then nothing happens.
I didn't even think about Bluetooth transferring it I'm gonna give it a try

I use ghost commander w.o any problems
You can always su in a terminal and do whatever you want, right? Might need to remount r/w but I think it's already mounted r/w on most roms.
I think the problem you are having with super manager is that your phone is not mounted correctly go to the market and download mount Rw/ro and click in the app and click set at boot and click rs and then you can move apps with that method

Black And Blue Themed System Apps :updated:

Here are some Black And Blue system apps that go pretty good with SPC_Hicks Fusion and Iconic HD Themes
Whats Themed?
Browser.apk
Settings.apk
YouTube.apk
Gallery3d.apk (SPC_Hicks Themed gallery for Iconinc HD)
Mms.apk
QuickSearchBox.apk
DeskClock.apk
Coming Soon
Phone.apk (Got it looking ok not ready to release yet being a pain to get it flowing good.)
Contacts.apk (same as above)
One note there are a couple things that are not working properly you still can't see the text in the mms app when adding a attachment which has to do with the Framework-res.apk not mms.apk so basically unless that is changed in a theme it won't be changed here.
Also when I get more time I will post these individually so that you dont have to get everything i just don't have the time to do it now.
Screen Shots will come..
Download put on root of ext-sd
Boot into recovery
Choose zip from sd card
Wipe dalvik cache
Download For The themed apps mentioned above :UPDATED now includes Desk Clock:
http://www.multiupload.com/NPTYP7BXD7
Ok I put this one seperate because of different install instructions
This is a Black and Blue Themed Gmail with transparent Background still have some things to do with it but looks ok enough to release.
I have only gotten this to work one way.
To Install:
Download Gmail App from link below
Place on the root of ext_sd card
With either Titanium Backup or Root Explorer or any app that will let you delete system files
Go to /system/app/ find and delete Gmail.apk or if using Titanium Backup find it in your list and unistall it ignore the warning about removing system apps
Boot into recovery and clear cache
Install zip From SD
Select the zip file
flash as normal
Clear Dalvik Cache
Fix permissions in the advance section of clockwork recovery.
Reboot
After reboot find gmail in app drawer it always ended up going to the very last for me after you open it let it sync and everything should be working as normal.
Download Themed Gmail

Can't believe I'm just now seeing this post lol. Thanks for all this awesome work man! Will be checking these out later tonight!
EDIT: Beamer, you don't really HAVE to post these separate. They can just extract the zip file then replace the .apks that they want. Just figured it would save you some time if you add that to your OP instead of going through and making a flashable zip for each individual .apk.
Another EDIT: These look great man! Very nice job, love the System icons and the Google Search Bar!
Just noticed that if you go into "Settings," you forgot to theme the "Connectivity" icon.
Ok thanks will look into that and I was just going to post separate because some people don't know how to do that and I don't want a bunch of pm asking the same questions and the zips are already made.
Edit: Also thanks spc without your themes these apps wouldn't be what they are again thank you for taking time out of your life to create your themes!
Edit: ok I changed the connectivity icon but unfortunately when I just try to flash in recovery it settings force closes kind of need some one to try this out but the end result might be what I just got done doing and that is pretty much flashing 1.5 all over and your theme again then the themed system apps and the whole gmail thing too if anyone is interested pm me.
