First off, I'm running OSX 10.6.6. My phone is running Phoenix 4.1 with Firebird2-v0.5 kernel...voodoo is currently disabled. Whenever I connect my phone to my computer a window appears that reads, "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Any suggestions on remedies/troubleshooting? USB was working just fine yesterday. Debugging mode is currently on as well. Thanks in advance
EDIT: Also, when I connect without debugging on I don't get any options for mass storage, media player, etc. The phone just starts charging.
EDIT: just reflashed and all is well

I needed to transfer some files from my N1 to my Pc, so I connected it to my PC using the cable. I was expecting the black mounting screen prompting me to mount the SD card, but nothing happened. I restarted my device twice, but the case is still the same. What could have been wrong? I have not installed any app within this time, not removed any. I have used it in just ordinary daily manner, messaging and calling and nothing else. My N1 runs on Froyo, OTA. No jailbreak.
Please help. Thank you
u need to assign a drive letter to your SD card
Noob answer: is it on the status pulldown bar?
Do you have USB Debugging enabled?
Does the phone recognise that it's been plugged in (ie start charging)?
Similar problem
I am having a similar problem with my N1 running CM6 stable. When I turn off USB debugging and plug the phone into my Win7 laptop, I get the USB connected screen, but when I turn on USB storage the SD drive doesn't mount i.e. I cannot see/access the drive in Windows 7. The N1 status bar says USB storage is on.
Under Device Manager, the N1 shows up as Android Phone-->Android ADB Interface with driver version 2.0.10.2 dated 11/08/2009.
Any help would be much appreciated.

No, THIS is exactly the problem, the phone dies not recognise that it has been connected to a computer. It does start charging, but no sign of SD memory mount/unmount. Nothing. Just simply charging.

No, USB debugging is not enabled. I double checked it.
I guess that Windows also doesn't recognize the phone as anything (Device Manager doesn't show anything new plugged in)?
In that case, enable USB Debugging, and see if the phone is recognized by Windows.
If it is - the problem is somewhere in SW.
If it isn't - then it might be a faulty USB cable or connector (from any side - phone or PC).
same thing happens to me from time to time. restart your computer and that should fix your problem.

Hi! I have been having some issues witg connecting my optimus 2x to my mac. Normally the phone asks if i want to start using mass storage mode. But now that option has stopped showing. I have tried changing the settings by checking and un checking debugging mode and use only mass storage. But none of it seems to do the trick. Does any one have some good ideas to this problem? Noteworthy is that the phone charges, but nothing more.
i had the same problem but after a while the debugging screen came up as fast as i plugged in the cable the usb debugging came up directly and worked and i didn't have mass on either
So you didn't do anything? Just waited it out? Been having this problem for two days now and it's quite frustrating.
I went into menu -> settings -> connectivity, and set the USB connection to "Always Ask" when connecting to a computer so that it would ask me if I want to use Charging/Mass Storage/Media Sync/etc. Even with that box checked, no matter what I do, when I connect the phone to my computer, it does NOT ask me what USB connection mode to use. Can anyone else confirm whether or not they experience this problem?
Thanks!
SOLVED - driver conflict with my Samsung Epic. Connecting one then the other wreaks all sorts of havoc.
call Verizon or LG for that support..OR try your control panel windows settings..devices

Is the little USB symbol showing up in the notification bar?
If not...try a different USB port on the computer.
Sounds dumb, i know...but it worked for me today when I had the same problem. And I think I recall it working on my old Incredible.
SOLVED
SOLVED - driver conflict with my Samsung Epic. Connecting one then the other wreaks all sorts of havoc, between mass storage mode and whatnot. When I switch the LG from charge to mass storage and back on the fly, it's doing something to the samsung drivers. When i reconnected my samsung, then the LG again, things went cuckoo for cocoa puffs until I rebooted.
I can't post a new topic as I have less then ten posts but I have an issue with my connectivity as well. When unplugged the phone still shows the USB icon in the top left corner like it is plugged in. However when plugged in the phone will charge but when connected to a computer mass storage mode will not work or show up. I have tried it in windows xp/ osx on my MacBook. Windows 7 on my desktop and nothing. The drivers are good as it was working before. I have done a wipe/data, restored back to cubed 1.1 mod and it is still doing it. It doesn't bug me that bad as I use andftp to move my apostle back and forth from my NAS to sdcard. But I would like it fixed as trying to put music or ISO's for my psx emulator can take a minute over the wifi. Any help would be appreciated.

Why am i getting a Factory data cable connected and i cannot switch between usb modes?
I am having issues with the activation of USB Mass Storage mode on CM7 v7.10. When I first connected my nook (just got it yesterday), I was able to enable mass storage mode as per normal. However, after this it's just stopped working!
There's nothing wrong with the cable afaics because the empty drives come up on the PC (Win7) no problem, it's just that the nook doesn't detect that the USB is plugged in and so never gives me the option to enable Mass Storage mode. I have had success once running ROM Manager's 'Fix Permissions' function, but since then it's not made any differences. The issue remains on multiple PCs with multiple cables.
Anyone got any fixes for this issue?
+ can you wiggle the micro-usb end a bit to see if anything better?
+ do you have the "usb debugging" check?
+ do you see the usb icon displayed on the NC notification bar?
- No wiggling makes any difference
- Tried with USB debugging on and off - no difference
- No USB icon (but empty drives still show up on my PC) so there is some kind of connection going on.
If the empty drives do show up on the PC, it definitely some sorts of connection made, it's a good sign.
Now back on your NC, go into Storage, try to Unmount then Remount the uSD and see if it gets any going.
Note: leave the Debugging USB Mode on.
Might also be worth considering moving from 7.1 to the MiRaGe 7.2 build. I'm not saying there is a specific fix but using the later ROM may help and I think most people find it more stable, faster and problem free.
Yeah, I actually updated to KANG 7.2 this avo and the USB Mass Storage option is back!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
I currently having KANG Mirage 7.2 with Tablet Tweak but it did not work. I bought an OTG cable from ebay so I assumed it's bc the OTG cable. The Drive works fine on my laptop but nothing appears on the Nook.
Maybe a re-flash with the same ROM might do the trick?
I'll try to reflash sometime soon!
Will post
uSB mass storage
I had the same issue. Have the USB connected and while connected reboot your device once it has rebooted you'll be able to access the USB files on your device. You'll be able to see the USB signal at the bottom, which you can activate. You'll have to do this most likely everytime you want to access USB storage

I'm on MIRAGE 7.2 running off EMMC. SD card is in the Nook.
I shut nook off, plugged in the cable to my pc and started the nook.
5 drives show up but I cannot access any of them. The USB icon is in the tray on the Nook and it says "USB connected". Just above that it says, "USB debugging connected"
Anybody have any success?
After doing some reading I've decided to use ES-FILE Explorer wirelessly. Its very easy to use. You need to SHARE folders on your PC in order for it to access the files.
Playing around with the USB option some more, I didn't realize that you could TOUCH the message in the notification bar. When you do, it launches a program and from there, you turn the USB connection on or off.
Geeeeeeez........ya learn something new every day.
Hey guys.
I'm facing the following problem. Whenever a I plug my 12 Pro on the USB (2.0 or 3.0, doesnt matter) on windows 10, I hear the phone connecting, and then disconnecting, the windows file explorer showing the phone storage content pops up, and the closes, the phone disconnects, and connects again, and on and on and on and on.
I have already deleted all my drivers, reinstalled everything, updated windows but nothing worked. Also, have changed all the power options of USB ports. I've tested different ports, different cables, but got nothing. My old Pixel 3XL works perfectly with the same cable and ports.
I'm currently running EU 13.0.30.
*Edit: It happens with any data transfer mode. If I keep the option "no data transfer" on, I can hear the sound of the usb connection, and it charges normally without looping.
Is there any fix for that?
Try to put a USB hub between the PC and the device.
The obvious solution is to keep it on "no data transfer".
You can still use ADB. You can still use AdbSync.exe (in my sig).
That's what I use and I never play with MTP or PTP or UMS.
