I was flashing back and forth between a bunch of different things this evening and somewhere in the mess I lost the ability to send SMS messages.
I can still receive SMS, make/receive phone calls, browse the net via 3G... it seems the only thing that has been lost is the ability to send SMS.
Any ideas?
I have flashed back to stock & master cleared already with no effect... still can't send messages.
Yesterday, mid conversation my SGS decided it wouldn't send any of my sms messages. Receiving sms messages is no problem and calls work fine both ways; MMS Messages also send with no issue. Data connections are fine, I've been receiving data through both edge and 3G. The only issue is that i can not send sms messages no matter what the length.
I was running Darky's ROM v9.2 but as an attempt to fix it i reflashed (wipe) to Darky's ROM v9.3, it did not fix the issue. I've tried sending them from different locations, flicking airplane mode on and off.
I've tried using both the stock Android messaging app and Handcent SMS App.
Does anyone have any insight on what is causing this, it's rather annoying and searching has been fruitless, i can't find anyone else who has even had this issue.

Edit: I fixed the issue, my SMCS number had vanished.

Been using my phone for a little over two weeks and texting just stopped working the other day. It can send texts but cannot receive them. I have 2 lines 2 phones. When I switch the sim card from the s4 active to my other phone texting works fine sending and receiving. When I use the sim from the other phone and put it in my s4 active it can send but not receive texts so I don't believe it's a issue with my service. It was rooted on MF3. I unrooted and did factory reset and texting issues still persist. Everything worked fine until the other day when I realized no one was texting me back. Mobile data is on. The phone can make and receive calls it can send texts just cannot receive. I use chomp sms but dont think it's the app since the stock messaging app isn't giving me any luck either. Can't figure this out
Update!
Lol just a few minutes after posting this question the phone lit up and all the texts I hadn't received yet just came flooding in. Switched sim cards back over and everything seems to be working fine again. Time to restore my backup yay I love this phone again lol :good:
Hi all, strange issue and have researched to death and can't find a fix. I recently flashed a EPG2 ROM and noticed that I can't receive texts from specifically from other T-Mobile users using the STOCK messenger with advanced messaging. I can receive all other texts, and everyone receives all of my texts. If a problematic user sends me a text from any other texting app I get it, just not the stock app. The ONLY WAY for me to get their text is to also be on the stock app and on LTE or Wifi. Otherwise the text never hits my phone. I don't even get the old texts, only the ones they're actively sending. On their end it doesn't say delivered unless I've actually got it. They always get my text however, regardless of where I send it from (stock or third party) I don't know why they're phones keep trying to send me an advanced message when I'm not using advanced messaging, previously it would just come through as a standard text.
Some steps I've taken:
Updated modem and baseband and BL to EPG2
Turned on and off VoLTE (issue persists either way)
Narrowed issue down to t-Mobile users using stock samsung messenger on any Samsung Galaxy device
Verified I am able to receive texts on LTE and Wifi while in Stock messenger only
I would love some other minds on this, I'm trying to avoid another wipe. Thanks!:good:
Hey everyone. I just got my global unlocked Mi Mix (6gb, 256gb), and I can't receive texts. I'm on At&T, and I'm getting 4g VoLTE all the time. I can send texts, and I can make and receive calls, but I'm not getting any texts that are sent to me. I've tried switching to 3g, and I've tried the stock messaging app, Google Messenger, and Textra. Nothing has fixed the problem. I really want to keep this phone, but I have to be able to receive texts.
Anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have this same problem. To make matters worse - mine happens intermittently too. For example, sometimes I could be texting someone and receive some of their texts, then suddenly a few texts in I no longer get their responses. Not sure what's going on.
I suspect it has to do with the Contact Manager APK, but not sure how or why.

Are you on ATT? And if this is a software issue, putting on a custom ROM might resolve it. I guess.
I've got texting working now. I did two things and I don't know which is the solution.
First, I put my sim in an ATT phone I had laying around. I sent some texts and took some calls on that phone. Then I put the sim back in my phone while wifi was turned off. I did this whole thing because I saw a thread on an ATT forum regarding the same SMS issue but with a different phone. The ATT moderator suggested doing those steps.
Second, I downloaded Pulse and set it as my default SMS app. So far, texting is now working without any problems.
