Hi,
I'm having a problem with a specific app.
I upgraded from Darky's Rom 8.0 to 9.1 (wipe). Didn't detected any problems whatsoever.
After applying lagfix Asphalt 5 app disappears after each restart.
Already disabled lagfix but the error still remains.
Can anyone help me on this issue?
Thanks,
I know that error Asphalt has been posted recently with the same rom .
So a search may find the answer .

Hi,
Thanks for replying,
Already see that post, but no one explains why this error happens or how to fix it.
They only say to download Apps2sd and transferring all the Apps to the external SD, and that I don't want to do. I only want to fix this particular issue.
Thanks,
why is this not posted inside the 'darky's rom' thread? (just curious)
I had the same problem with some of the custom roms like the cyanogen 6.1 beta's.
Some roms install apps on ext SD by default and after a reboot the app is missing in the drawer.
Check in app management, it should be still there and if you chose "move to phone" its back.
Hope this helps you out, it worked for me.

It's also there.
But first of all I don't know if this is an issue caused by the new darky's rom or some other known android sd card issue.
And second I don't see any problem in posting this issue in the xda forum where also darky have his rom posted.
why is this not posted inside the 'darky's rom' thread? (just curious)
I would guess cos it wont get an answer .

Exactly...
Thanks,
had the same problem with dark's 9.1 but with root explorer and other system apps. I don't have an external SD Card. Now the rom gone crazy and I had to reflash the V8. If this one goes crazy too, i will probably got o stock or on DOc's rom
I had the same problem with DocRom, it was caused by the deodex process that runs when phone is restarted.
It was caused by not having enough space in one partition (I think it was /system). So deodex failed. This only caused problems when deodexing big apps, like asphalt. You cans see the error by doing a logcat while phone is rebooting.
I couldn't find a solution. You might want to post in darky's thread. Maybe there is a way to disable deodex for some apps.
If you find a solution please post it here, I'd like to know how to fix this.
Thanks guys,
I thing that this error it's associated with another, I explain.
I was starting to wipe dalvik cache to see if it solve this issue but is says:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 (file exists).
I had this error once and the Asphast 5 App also disappeared after each restart.
Then I flashed with Odin and re-partition a new rom and the error was gone.
Also, the App error was also solved.
Now I have the same two errors, so they are related.
I need to find more information about this issue.
If anyone knows more please share.
Thanks,
I receive that dalvik cache error every time when i'm wipeing the dalvik, but never lost apps before.
I only lose one, "Asphast 5".
I re-flashed the phone with Odin and JPU stock rom, re-partition.
Formatted my internal and external card, then clean installed a wipe 9.1 Darky version and the Asphalt 5 app remained on the phone.
After I started to install all the apps again with Titanium Backup the Asphalt 5 app disappeared after restart.
I really don't know what's going wrong. I know that with my old Darky 8.0 this didn't happened...
Anyone has ideas?
latest doc rom + hardcore kernel, same problem only 1 app keep missing after restart. (asphalt5 from samsung apps)
I think must be something with the big size apk, can't find other bigger apps then asphalt5.
You may check if this solution in the ROM Kitchen Thread works here as well.

I was reading forums about lag fix.
I wanna install one but it seems like possibility of bricking phone after installing lag fix is higher in I9000M (Bell model) than any other galaxy s models.
Is there reason for it? Can anyone share their experiences?
Also, I read somewhere that JH2 fixes the lag. Is that true?
I was doing benchmark but never got past 950 with quadrant....
I had no problem with OCLF until I did an upgrade of th app trought android market. Then OCLF didn't recognise that I had a lag fix install and I tried the option to repair the fix and it made my phone lag like hell. Then I tried to flash and repartition with odin to wipe this but I surelly made something wrong cause it bricked the phone. I had to buy another one used over kijiji.
Been using OCLF since then and I didn't had any other problem. I even uninstall it completly a few hours ago cause i want to try froyo. I think it's safe but don't try the repair option ever and try to install and uninstall the fix with the same version of the OCLF to avoid recognition problem.

Sorry i didnt really get how you bricked yours. So were you upgrading any app with lag fix? Do you mean you shouldnt upgrade any app after you installed lag fix? So to upgrade, i should uninstall any app completely then re-install new version?
Thats one downside....
I'm not sure how I bricked my phone but it's related to the re-partition option in odin and me flashing a froyo firmware. I did this with XXJPH and it was after the problem with OCLF.
What I'm sure of, is that OCLF (the app from the market) didn't recognise that my phone had a lagfix and didn't allow me to un-lag fix it. So I tried the option to repair the ext2 tools and it failed. After that the phone was really lagy and a lot of forced close happened. That why I wanted to repartition with an odin flash.
The probleme is that I tried with the only firmware (at the moment) that requires to never use this option. I should have tried to go back to UGJH2.
For OCLF i'm gonna try something. I have an update showing in the market so i'm going to install the lag fix whit my application and then I'll do the update to see if it can still see the lagfix. Maybe it was my fault in the first place. You'll have feedback in 5 min.
Ok I confirm that everything is working fine. See screenshot. I don't know what was the problem I had but it seems to work fine and there is no problem to recognise the lagfix once updated.
Hi, my SGS is now running Froyo, and all apps and settings are restored. I thought that I should reinstall OCLF 2 again to maybe get some more juice from the file system, and after installing from Market and rooting the device everything seemed fine. But during installation of the actual Lagfix, I noticed an error during the "dd" command (unable to mount device, device busy, or something like that). I was offered to send the log to the developers which I did. I tried to run it again, but get the same error message. But this time the device was hanging hard and nothing I did made the error screen go away. So I removed the battery and restarted the phone. Now when I enter the OCLF app, I can only select the "Unroot device". Both "One click lagfix" and "Undo one click lagfix" are red and not selectable.
If I look (with Linda filemanager) in the root filesystem, there are two zero length files, /dbdata and /data, both created at the time that I tried to apply the lagfix. Do I dare to remove these to and see if they are causing the deadlock?

Try removing your SD card, and then run the OCLF
If OCLF can't remove the lagfix you'll have to flash a firmware with Odin and repartition you'r internal sdcard at the same time. Just be carefull and chose a firmware that you can use to option to repartition with. Usualy all the 2.1 firmware are compatible with this option.
Then flash back with your desired froyo firmware and try CF root before you start OCLF. OCLF should not be use to root 2.2 device maybe your problem was caused by this but I doubt it.
I used OCLF with XXJPM without any problem but I flashed JPM over a clean 2.1 firmware (fresh flash with repartition option and no apps install).
Did not help. Do/Undo both still red.
I will first find a tool to backup all settings and apps before trying a re-flash. The question now is - is it worth to go through all this just to get OCLF up and running.

Definitely!! Try Titanium Backup. It can backup all your apps and data attached. Moreover it'll be able to re-install them without prompting you for every apps. You just start the backup before the flashing and start the restore after and let it go by itself. But be carefull to backup only user apps if you go from 2.1 to 2.2 or vice versa as it's gonna cause a lot of force close if you try to backup and restore system apps that are not right for your android version.
I'm running with OCLF and I can assure you that you won't regret. No more black screen before you launch an app. Installation and or uninstallation are almost instant so your update are done faster over the market.

First off, if you are using CW Mod 3.+, go back to a pre 3. version or get Amon_Ra
If you go back to a pre 3. CW-- Wipe system 3X and all data/caches 5X, then retry
Did you reformat your sd card outside of phone with something like sdformatter and repartition 1gb 0 swap--back up card first and Nandroid
You may have jumped into this too quick, with only having phone 2 days
You need to flash Cyanogen rom then gapps then DT
I would study the CM7 thread, from OP page on--
Ken
First of all, THANK YOU VERY MUSH FOR THE KIND REPLY.

3x and 5x does it mean 3 times and 5 times ?
When the system was getting the Infinite Looping.
I restored the recovery rom. And while the recovery process was hapenning it freezed at "LOST+FOUND" Had to remove the battery.
Today i was trying to backup the ROM again and again it freezed at "LOST+FOUND" . Had to remove the battery.
Is it normal ??
I read some HOW TO stuff but seemed very complicated. so Then i went for the YOUTUBE EASY steps videos. So I rooted with the APP i specified above. And went for the ROM MANAGER.

Well all my friends have the LATEST versions. Even my brother had 2.3 on his Nexus S.
Only i seem to be stuck here .
Would there be any hardware faults for all these errors i get ?
The nexus s shipped with 2.3
This is why I and others will always tell you people to read the wiki.
Flashing roms and partitioning the SD card with a ext partition while not even know a nandroid backup is....:-(
1. Boot the phone into recovery. Not sure if its still cwm since I don't know wtf you meant by recovery rom but eh.
2. In recovery factory reset/wipe clear data etc. Basically clean everything you can a option to clean/wipe/format EXCEPT SD card.
3. Flash a rom. . Flash gapps if its cm7.
4. Read wiki.
5. Read wiki.
6. Read wiki.
Basically get the phone running. Stop ****ing with **** until you have a clue what you're doing. Then have fun.
Well after using the same file many times. i finally got the CM7 running
Thank you all for helping me out . . .
Sorry for being so noob
glad you got it
you want 0 swap not 32
also, don't recommend, as mentioned, using CWMod 3.+
Definitely read wiki and scour threads from OP pages on to learn
I have 14 pages of bookmarks going back over a year from studying
Do regular backups of phone and sdcard
Good Luck

Hi xda!
I'm experiencing a problem since I'm using modded-AOSP ROMs.
In practice, I bought this device used from another one person that has never updated it (when I get it it was slooow).
So I connected to Kies and i got all the official updates needed.
I discovered this world and I started to search and install modded roms starting by kernels for obtain root access.
Since I flashed 2.3.3 kernel mod (DarkCore if I'm not wrong) I occasionally got black screens of death.
I search for related topics on xda but I only found problems related to startup.
I got those kind of freezes during normal using (especially when the device is connected to AC for battery charge).
Now I'm on Android 4.0.3 port by Onecosmic (thanking this guy will never be enough) more than a week ago and this morning I woke up and the phone was stuck on this black screen.
No way to get a screen without pressing power button for seconds and get a reboot.
There's a way to fix this problem?
I thought there was a problem of Android 2.3 builds but now this issue is showing on version 4.
Another one got this problem?
Thanks @ all
Excuse me if a topic-related thread is already opened, I search before posting this
i've done a full terminal reset including internal SD and deleting all previous backup (to avoid the possibility to restore a corrupted backup) and now the problem seems solved.

how do you do this? if you dont mind me asking
You need to have root permissions.
You enter recovery and mount sd card.
Then you wipe all caches and sd.
One you have done that you need to flash a stock rom then install ICS.
Doing this you are sure you haven't garbage or something else on your phone.
I am getting lag lately and KL7 upgrade didn't sort it so I think something is messed up.
As with computer I think the easiest way is to backup apps + settings + custom files + SMS and delete everything.
Now as this is the first time on an Android device what steps do you (please) suggest me to follow without going to brick my Note?
My device is rooted and I have Titanium (if needed).

When it comes to backup you can always use titanium backup and stuff or if its just the apps you are looking at then you can back them up @ Google Server itself.
Un-rooting your device please follow the steps here -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
Now when it comes to clean/reset of your device you can by two methods:
1. Go to Settings-->Privacy-->Factory Data Reset
2. Dial *2767*3855# (Note: This will erase your Storage card too.. Everything will be back to factory)
PS: Its a bit strange because KL7 is virtually lag free.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

In fact I was having it already since a couple of weeks with KK9 (up since day 1) and when I upgraded to KL9 that was the proof it's not a firmware lag issue.
Thanks mate, your help is appreciated.

Your Welcome
I meant internal SD card. External SD card is not an issue since you can always pop it out before the wipe.
I would suggest you do a complete wipe. Reflash the ROM/Kernel etc (dont OC or experiment too much) and monitor things. As of now KL8 is up ;maybe you can give that a shot.
Cheers

Wow that was quick!
Maybe Samsung itself had to hurry at fixing all the bugs we have encountered.
Hmm going to try the new firmware before the complete wipe then.
Thanks again.
Hi there,
trying to unroot my Note with KKA kernel. I know I have to place the zImage of the KKA kernel in the zImage folder...thing is, where do I find the original kernel? Is it the zImage that I downloaded when rooting and CWM'ing my Note (the KKA file I got from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360)
Reason why I'm trying to get back to the original kernel is that I want to use Rom Manager as it's refusing to let me do anything as long as I don't have ClockworkMod Recovery installed. I do have that installed, but apparently not the one Rom Manager wants to use. I used Rom Manager on my Nexus S and it was nice to use and easy to try out different Roms so I'd like to use it on the Note as well.
I have CWM Manager 3.0 installed and it looks quite the same as Rom Manager except that it hasn't got the Download Rom/check for new updates feature. Or is it just that Rom Manager isn't compatible (yet) with the Note? Or is there a way to make Rom Manager believe that I have the correct CMR installed?
When thinking about it...I think I have the original kernel installed, but that that's not the reason why Rom Manager doesn't let me use it.
Thanks,
Dimitri
Problem solved meanwhile.
