[Q] How to Localize Android for Topaz? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Android Development

I want to create an application that let user select between diffreent languages (English, Hebrew, Arabic, ...) and when he accept the language, phone (reset, or do something to) change the entire language of the system.
It should be able to change the resource file and calendar.
It would be be nice if user be able to change some resources for hisself, and replace it in resource file.
I'd never work with android applications before, so please explain in detail if it's possible.
And is it possible to do this generally for all android phones? or I have to do it only for topaz?
any idea to do this will appriciated.
Thank you in advance

I Like It too

word completition - T9 - laguages

Hello!
Can anybody tell me if I can select other languages than the ROM laguage for word completition in any kind of input method/T9?
e.g. Can I select an english dictionary when I am using a Diamond with a German ROM?
If not, can I add this somehow?
Thanks in advance!
Anyone?
It should be able to check it easily...
Can please someone with a non-english rom check if you can enable word completition for English input?
If not, does anyone know how to add this?
If you actually search the forum you will find a .cab file called "T9 Input 14 Languages Update.cab" which allows you to do just that!
At least I can write t9 spanish, english and greek on the european rom...

request English T9 files

Hi, I've just installed the TW ROM for asia font support. Only now I realise predictive text no longer works.
Please can someone with English ROM post their T9 files for me? Also has anyone tried doing this and does it work?
While I'm here, anyone know how to change the interface language to English while keeping the East Asia language support?
I'd like to have the german T9-files for use with WWE-ROMs.

Well, to change the interface to English, you'll have to flash the WWE(English) ROM. Keeping East Asian language support depends on what kind of support you need. If you just need to view East Asian languages, you would need to put the appropriate font on the device. If you need to input Chinese/Japanese/Korean also, you would need to install the appropriate IME and SIPs. Since you haven't specified which East Asian language you need, I can't help any further.
excellent, in that case i might just copy all the files i need from the TW rom and add them back after flashing the UK Rom. I need chinese input too so what files do i need to make copy of?
Unfortunately, I don't know too much about getting chinese to work since I don't know chinese. You probably don't even need to copy the files from the TW ROM. Just search for "Chinese Input" on these forums, and I'm pretty sure you'll find threads dedicated to finding the complete solution that you need.

Help with adding new language to swype

Hello,
I need help from someone who knows how to add a new language to Swype.
I have 2 swype.apk with the languages i want but i just don't know how can i combine them.
I'm interested in a swype version that has 3 languages: English UK, Romanian (Romana) and Vietnamese (Tieng Viet)
I attach here those 2 apks contains those languages.
I think the best way is to move vietnamese files from Swype with Vietnamese and English.apk into Swype with Romanian and others.apk.
But I don't know what to move and to make it work!
I don't know how to add a language, but I know how to replace a language.
Pick one language you don't need (english US maybe), and move Vietnamese files over them.
(of course you need apktool to extract / repack an apk and don't forget to sign)
I did it to add French Canada to my swype keyboard. Works fine.
Hello, that is a good solution. But what files do i have to replace?
I need only the dictionary where it contains all the words, the keyboard i would like it to be the one for English US.
I tried to move the Romanian.zdb.le over EnglishUS but it didnt worked.
I used APK Manager to decompile Swype.apk and then replace the zbd.le file, compile it back and sign.
But when i try to use it on the phone, it says there is a problem with the database. And i can use that language. All the other works fine.
you need to replace all three language files
at least that worked for me.
hello, I am trying to get swype keyboard in Vietnamese language for the samsung galaxy s3(Rogers) phone. It is for my girlfriend in Vietnam. Please post instructions for this. Please help me. If possible. Anyone in Toronto? I can pay you for this. Thanks.

Need help with translations

Hello guys, I need your help to translate "Speech Shopper" application to German, Italian, Poland and Portugal. I also need a product list for Mexico.
(perfect French translation already done by titi66200, Spanish by lomax50).
What I like to ask you:
- translate the app name (local lang equivalent of "Speech Shopper");
- translate app UI (see below);
- create localized shopping list (plain text file in UTF-8 encoding) with common goods/food items.
Please, download this archive first.
If you have "Visual Studio" 2010/2012 installed:
- download & install "Microsoft Multilingual App Toolkit" http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bg127574.aspx
- rename file "AppResources.fr.xlf" to your language, for example "AppResources.es.xlf" or "AppResources.de.xlf"
- change language code inside file
- open file with "Multilingual App Toolkit" and translate sentences
or (if no "Visual Studio" installed)
- open file "AppResources.fr.xlf" with notepad and replace French translation with your lang translation
Thank you!
I'm already working for the Spanish language
I think that is all, but I'm at your disposal, if not.
in Spanish, the application could be literally translated as: "Comprador parlante"
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! Are you able to sideload apps? Or you can share your LiveID with me (PM me) and I add you as a beta-tester (I prefer test first before publishing).
P.S. BTW, for "predefined" shopping list: not exact translation is required but the most "common" goods and food products in your country, including your personal preferences and "slang" names for stuff
