Starting yesterday, every time my wife plugs in her captivate into the wall, the menu where you chose the usb mode pops up. I cant figure out how to get it to stop. Anyone got any ideas?
Ummm turn on mass storage mode and then usb debugging? Then try plugging it in.
Ionno just a thought since you have to turn debugging off to change usb types maybe having it on will stop that??
OK, I'll give it a try. It's weird how it just started happening

If you are on Froyo, go to Settings, Applications, USB Settings, and do not use the "Ask on connection" option. For Eclair, go to About Phone instead of Applications. Gingerbread has removed this option.
Hello,
is there any way to turn off MTP mode ?
It automatically goes on whenever i connect my phone to computer via usb cable.
I want just simple usb charging.
I tried opening notification area and clicking on MTP Enabled item, but it does just nothing. I see click, but it doesn't turn off.
Any help ?
I am S-OFF, maybe it has something in common ?
I have the Xperia T and I am trying to update to 4.3, I had tried to use flashtool, but the phone isn't recognised by the computer when I plug in the cable holding the down button. Now the update is finally here for me I tried using PCC but again having the same issue. I have tried two different computers and all the USB ports on them. I have also fully switched off the battery (holding down the power and up button keys for 10 seconds).
I am stumped as to what is wrong with the phone??
thanks
Can no one suggest anything I could try? I have a feeling its a hardware fault, but it seems like a strange one at that... I dont know if its related but the phone also sometimes doesn't wake from sleep, it seems to be awake but the screen is not on, which requires me to do a hard restart
I am really desperate! thanks

turn of your phone. open flashtool. do not connect the phone to pc. select the firmware and click on flash,. after a few seconds it asks for the phone to connect. the hold the vol - button and plug in the usb. release the vol - button after the green light turns on. this may solve your issue

I have tried this, and it still does not work
thanks for the suggestion though
Interesting update (well not really), but I did some troubleshooting and stuff and found that when plugging my phone into the charger when it is switched off, it doesn't respond either (i.e. boot up). So I have a feeling that its the actual phone with a fault such as damaged pin in the usb port that relates to power when the phone is switched off?

I have the same problem.
When the phone is turned off it won't charge, either wiht the wall charger or with the USB cable connected to the computer.
I've sent an email to SONY but they told me so sent it to tech support.
It's not very easy to do it where I am so I'm looking for some other options.
I also noticed it when I was trying to update to 4.3.
PC Companion isn´t a solution since it asks to connect the phone to the PC while turned off pressing the volume down button, even to try the repair.
Can someone help?
Found the issue here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018466
Such a weird problem, but unplugging and reconnecting the battery solved all the issues I was having!

Have a look at the thread link above, very simple to solve just take off the back cover and disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes
Hi, just got a google glass xe-c a few days ago. It had a problem with wifi not connecting, trying to activate it using qr code gave an error "cannot connect to network" I had to activate it using mobile data in tether mode. Wifi settings card is always stuck on "turning on" everything else worked fine adb , fastboot hardware buttons etc.
I restored the factory image "xe23" from the official website but no change in wifi status. Today I got the bright idea to "downgrade" it.
just to have a look at older firmware and i thought maybe it would help with my wifi issue so i downloaded and flashed "xe10"
turns out it did not have the "activate using mobile data " feature and only way to activate it is using wifi, so i am stuck at activation screen. I tried pressing camera + power buttons to go into fastboot mode and it wont.
If i disconnect the usb cable , power off the device then hold down camera button and press power button, power led turns on , I release the power button while still holding camera button after a few seconds led is supposed to flash instead it just turns off and after that if i connect the usb cable nothing happens.
I also tried another approach, If i keep the usb cable to the pc, then power down and press the camera +power buttons , led again turns on , pc dectects the glass in fastboot but only for a second , again led turns off and thats it.
Hi,
Long story short I dropped the phone and the screen is now useless. Lights up halfway but does not work for button press.
The phone turns on and communicates. I also have face unlock on so may be able to get past the fingerprint/pin. I managed to turn wifi on, off, and back on with google assistant.
My question is this: I am thinking of connecting a keyboard via USB-C to OTG USB cable. Would anyone be able to do me an absolute solid and find the exact keyboard button presses need to get USB debugging turned on?
I am also open to any other ideas but that is the best way I can think of.
I am on the latest official build of the Xiaomi global ROM for the mi 9.
Thanks for reading.
