Can't install USB drivers - Nook Color General

I follow the how to on android centrals forums, I've downloaded the usbdrivers and extracted properly. But windows vista gives me this error.
"WINDOWS FOUND DRIVER SOFTWARE FOR YOUR DEVICE BUT ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL IT. ANDROID COMPOSITE ADB INTERFACE. THE DEVICE DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE COMMAND."
All I'm trying to do is get GApps running
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

Try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882751
It comes with a script to run that will automatically install the adb/nook color drivers. The win7 one *should* work for vista.
Good-luck

USPL and Windows 7

Hello,
I have already moved to Windows 7, which is very stable and much faster then Windows Vista...
There are some problems with the Windows 7 and USPL...
Is there a configuration guide, which explains the procedure, how I can manage the USB connection problems within Windows 7.
Many Thanks
Roman
You need to update the USB drivers.
The following post will explain how. This works for Windows 7 aswell as Vista.

One thing to note, you have to put your phone in bootloader and connect it via USB for it to show the Mobile Device - HTC USB in Device Manager.
One laptop I was on I knew I had to apply the fix on so hadn't tried without updating, and took me forever to find out why I couldn't find the driver to update.
I used a small program called "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b".
Its freeware for using unsigned drivers in Windows 7.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and USPL works perfect now.
Thanks

Hello,
Had to upgrade my Windows 7 to build 7077 first....!
Then it worked @ 1st try... ;-)
Roman
I have problem with installing driver on Windows 7 64-bit (build 7077). I always get error: This device cannot start (Code 10). Does anyone have solution for it?
I had to get to 7077 as well, i couldnt make it start on 7057 or 7068 either.
I just solved it, but I can't explained how... I tried it again and again.. did some restart of HD and of Windows 7 and finally I was successfull . My tip is to re-connect HD on USB before installation...
I use 7077 x64 and no issues with it whatsoever. I had no issues at all with any build and actually it gets the drivers and Windows Mobile Device Center automatically for me. Check your system drivers like chipset and usb controller for updated versions maybe?
Thanks
Many thanks for the solution that you give to us.
I have been testing every release of Windows 7 since 7000 and as long as you install WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1) and then update the HTC USB Sync driver (put your phone into bootloader and update the driver in device manager with the one from the guide in my signature) you won't have any issues flashing roms. This is for both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.

adb usb fix

I am currently having issues installing my G1 in development mode on
Vista 64 Premium SP1. I have tried both installing the drivers that
come with the latest SDK and also the ones here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446274
Whenever I plug the phone in it comes up as an unknown USB device
under device manger. When I go to update driver and point the
installer at the correct driver location it either says 'the device
driver is up to date' or when using the have disk option it says 'the
folder specified does not contain a compatible software driver for
your device'.
Any help would be really appreciated - I have been hitting Google for
about 2 hours now!
you have the 1.33.2005 spl you should try these and see if they work

Locating USB driver on windows xp

Am trying to unlock my n1 so I can get to install cyanogen rom but am stuck after installing Android sdk and Usb drivers, am following some steps but am stuck trying to locate the USB driver, this is part of what was stated in the direction (You can check if your Android USB drivers are installed by going to “Printers & Devices” on Windows 7.* (and I think you can check Device Manager for other versions of Windows). I check the device manager on my pc and still didn't locate it,anybody have an idea like where I can find the USB drivers.
this has been discussed 100 times and is also in the "informative links" sticky.
Please do a search. The driver comes with the SDK.

Trouble with ADP driver install Rooted 1.1

Hey all,
Have been following the instructions to install the adb drivers for the nook and they do not recognize them as the correct type of driver for the devise. I follow the instructions here nookdevs.com/NookColor_USB_ADB and when I get to the point that I am changing the driver for the nook I see that there is a problem. It always says that the Nook should be under Other Devices but I find mine under Portable Devices. Then when I try and search for the correct driver it never finds the Android Composite ADB Device driver. It finds WPD FileSystem Volume Driver. I force it to use a driver in the correct folder it says that the folder does not contain a valid driver.
Any Ideas.
Thanks
Windows 7

Can't use fastboot

To clarify, my problem is that on my windows 11 laptop my phone is not recognized in fastboot. When I try to run any commands i get "<waiting for device>" and in device manager it is listed as "Android" with a yellow triangle near it because windows says it is an unknown device. I even installed all the drivers i could but still no luck. It works on my ubuntu laptop so I don't know why it wouldn't work on my windows laptop.
Ah yes, welcome to Windows Driver Hell. You see, while you think your drivers are installed, Windows has a different opinion
Try finding the directory of the driver and install it manually in device manager. If this works there is a chance you'll even have to do it every goddamn time. Has happended before.
If you're using a device specific driver you can try Universal Drivers instead. And vice versa if you're on universal drivers now.
Sometimes I have luck with a Nexus driver.
Thanks for your help, it finally worked with the qualcomm driver I found in the msm tool post
