[Q] Gold business battery for HTC HD2 - HD2 Accessories

Hi guys
While I was looking for a way to get some more juice for my Leo I stumbled across these on eBay:
NEW GOLD XXXXmAH BUSINESS BATTERY FOR HTC HD2 LEO T8585
They range from £29.99: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GOLD-2430...073?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4aa8015b31 to £99.99 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-GOLD-1930...ries_MobilePhoneBatteries&hash=item1c18aede90 per piece.
Has anybody tried them? What attracted me was the fact, that they seem to be the size of normal battery and do not add any bulk to device - the only thing that stops me from buying other extended batteries widely available on market so far.

Sounds like someone is trying to sell a cheap battery at a premium price.

There is absolutely no way I would put a Chinese/Japanese/MuckyKnees or any other type of Asian battery in my HD2.
Stick to normal or extended batteries or use less battery hungry roms or tweak them.

Do you really think the biggest phone manufacturers in the world such as Nokia, Samsung, HTC, SE etc will not try to source the best batteries which have the highest capacity for a given size?
What makes you think these cheapo 3rd parties can somehow magically source or manufacture better batteries with limited resources?

Exactly!
It baffles me why some idiots even attempt to buy 32GB (FAKE) cards for ridiculous prices like £10 lol. I was one of these idiots years ago when trying to find a 32GB card for my HTC Uni, when I look back I think wtf was you thinking?

The gold battery business is another attempt to cash in on the hd2 battery hype...
They know that the battery of the HD2 is a piece of cr#p and in our endless journey to get a higher capacity battery we get fooled every time...
I respect XDA members for trying all these different kinds of batteries and posting their findings on this forum

yeah its better to not even waste ur time with this fake battery

Really not worth wrecking your phone for, im wary of buying anything like this of Ebay

and the feedback indicates its about the same as stock batteries

Fake one confirmed .continuous use last 3h like stock battery.

Batteries! The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. Discussions!

Good Day.
I would like to make a list of different battery sellers/brands and your experience with them, then compile the information into the OP for easy viewing. I am doing this because I have had 2 bad experiences buying batteries on ebay from high rated sellers. It can also be difficult to determine what htc models have interchangeable batteries.
Known HTC Models with interchangeable batteries
CDMA TP2 ERIS OZONE HERO EVO IMAGIO SNAP DESIRE INCREDIBLE(DUH)
HTC Models non compatible batteries
N1 G1 FUZE OTHERS
Props(and ALL CREDIT) To Doug Simmons for his work testing batteries and making the results public domain. We need more people like you!
Please check out http://batteryboss.org
Mr. Simmons's VERY scientific testing of multiple batteries and brands show consistently overstated mah on many brands of batteries. Please see second post or above website.
XDA Member Jermaine151 has a thread about his experience with the OEM 2150 getting 3 days of runtime I think has great photo's and info.
XDA Member DrPheta has some good information for identifying FAKE OEM BATTERIES.

I have had nothing but trouble with no name batteries, and I have not seen one capacity test to support getting more than 1500mah from this form factor. even the 1500 makes it more difficult to close back cover. I'd be curious to know what the battery weighs.
I bought HTC 1500 from amazon marketplace for $9..Amazon has me fully covered. Could not be happier.

I Got the seido 1750mah, very high quality. was a little afraid to go with a no name company.
I got the Seidio 3500, even if it's only 80-90% of the advertised, it's still the highest actual mAh on the market and I can get a full day with Wi-Fi tethering, GPS, and downloading and flashing the latest CyanogenMod nightly over Verizon 3G (DROID Incredible).

+1. I have the Seidio 3500mAh and it is a hoss! I have no problem getting through an entire day with heavy use. It doesn't detract from the looks of my Incredible either. In fact, the included battery door makes it fit in my hand better and protects the camera lens.
I get better performance out of my HTC 1500 then my Seidio 1750. The HTC is thicker and heavier then the Seidio. I paid $17.99 shipped for the HTC and something like $40.00 for the Seidio.
I just purchased an HTC 2150 which included an OEM backing for $39.99. Couldn't be happier with it.
I think with what I've learned, going OEM is the only way.
I agree. The seidio 1750 is crap

I'm really liking the HTC 1500 battery (same one that comes with the evo). Right now I'm sitting at 15% remaining after 13 hours 20 minutes of uptime and 4 hours 40 minutes of awake time. Thats without bump charging it either. Score one for the oem.

I use the HTC 2150 and I love it. One charge lasts all day with HEAVY use.

Latest (fake??) extended battery from eBay (£99)

I was playing on eBay for new accessories... I'm sure this one is fake (well, as they never live up to their promises), but as I haven't seen it posted on this forum, I thought I'd throw it up for debate
It was the high price - £99 - that made me curios enough to start a thread. That's a lot of money for a fake(?) item.

i would never buy this battery for 99 pounds
the battery has 4G technology...oh great...i will finally be able to use 4G !! i am getting this for sure !
Gold batteries have ben mentioned before, these are fake in terms of quoted capacity.
They are not from Japan, they are poor quality chinese cells in a posh gold wrapper.
Only good brands are: Momax, Andida & Mugen ...
Only good point is £99 is a cheap price to teach any buyer they are a muppet ...

Can the HTC One Battery Last me 5 Years?

Liking this phone and also the One Mini
I might end up buying the One Mini
However 1 concern, replacing battery in these phones are impossible.
Ok then no problem will it last me 5 years so I can sell it on 4th year?
I am not a rich person and i work for $3 USD an hour for American Airlines where I live. A HTC One Mini should cost me about $600 USD so its a lot of money and I intend to keep it a very long time and when I am ready to sell it, it needs to still have a good battery so I can get back some money.
What kind of battery does it use and whats the recharge cycle?
Can I get 5 years out of it?

2 years is around about when battery capacity starts dropping noticeably. If you root and under clock, 5 years from now you'll get usable battery life.
I know its not my business, but do you want to spend 600 plus monthly plus any repairs or RMA shipping? Just think it over.
This phone uses a 2300 mah standard carbon anode lithium ion battery, which prefers to be topped off frequently, but not over 80%. When storing for REALLY long amounts of time, be sure to turn fast boot off and drain the battery to 40%.
About selling it: electronics lose their values extremely quickly so I would not expect more than 1/5 of the original price to be recovered after 4 years. That $120 I believe.
Hi
thanks for letting me know. You are right in 5 years I would probably get $100 USD if I am lucky. And even then its gonna be a used phone you might get new for that price.
This is a lot, I have a S3 Mini right now but wanted to get something faster the nova thor chipset is really bad in the S3 mini. However I flashed it with custom ROM and works much much faster and smoother now.
The S4 mini or S3 sounds like a great buy where I live its $500 USD for S4 mini and $480 USD for S3 these prices include vat and import duty for some reason its cheaper to buy locally from a store than from Amazon and ship it here. Costs a lot of money to clear customs.
I know the Xperia SP would cost less than a S3 and is a incredible phone at the same time.
I suppose I will look into the Xperia SP from Amazon as its within the sub $480 Price range when it lands and clears.
And while the SP battery is non removable its very easy to do so with a screw driver so I won't have any problems in 3 years time running at full clock speed.
Shipping back a expensive HTC phone for repairs is out of the question.Customs sometimes charge another massive tax when it enters the country even if its been sent for repairs. And its useless fighting your case as it takes too long so anything I buy I fix myself.
I usually look at youtube videos and do it myself.

Forget the One then. It is impossible to open cleanly. It is riddled with defects like gaps and recessed power buttons and deep gashes and camera tint and all sorts of stuff. It breaks incredibly easily, too. If you drop it at the right angle, it only takes a couple inches. The S4 mini should be different.
Yeah I am also checking out the Xperia ZR
Its battery is removable and has same specs as the Xperia Z and is cheaper. And is water proof etc
720p res don't bother me because its screen size is 4.6 inch and its over 300ppi which is beyond the limit of the human eye anyways. So I might consider that if the price is right.
If not the SP is well within my budget and battery is easy to access but needs a little technical skill to remove but thats ok. Better than HTC One where screen and mainboard has to come out with a frecking heat gun just to access the battery.
Phones now are evolved to the point where it does everything we need it to do at incredible speed. Heck my crappy ancient Athlon X2 still servers me well to this day browsing web and playing games etc.
Hence my reason for wanting removable battery. Soon we won't be changing phones very soon at all.

I agree that the OP should look for another phone, but I think you're exaggerating the issues. I did tech support at VZW for four years. Trust me, ALL phone manufacturers have issues. Every one. Have a model that sells 5 million units with a failure rate of 3%, that's 150,000 unhappy owners.
If you drop any phone at the right angle it's going to break. On the other hand, CNET did a torture test where they tossed a One out of the window of a moving RV twice onto the pavement and the screen was still intact.

If you poke around these threads, you'll see that the defect rate is well over 3%. I'd say it's around 50% for gaps and camera tint.
The Cnet test phone was EXTREMELY lucky. The whole damn phone broke, taking the fall for the screen. I have no idea how that happened. For Samsung devices, though, the plastic bezel would get crushed and would take the fall from most angles, unlike the metal One, which will transfer nearly all the force to the body of the phone.
:good:
I have had my H1 for over 10 weeks and i have only charged it to 100% three times, i normally only charge to 80%and do not discharge it below 30%, hopefully my battery will last 5 years following this process.
I use an app called BatteryBot to sound an alarm at 80% and 30%

Never base "general" statistics on forum threads. Most of the people on forums will have problems because most people who have problems go on forums to complain/find solutions. People who have no problems don't go on forums to say "my phone rocks" and those that do are flayed for it. So the people with problems are "infinitely better represented". A case of "the vocal minority".
In conclusion: even if 50% of people on forum have problems, it doesn't mean that the total number of problems so anywhere near that. It could just as well be around 3%.(not saying that it definitely is; might be a lot higher)

XDA forum threads do not make a good population sample. People who have problems are more vocal than people who do not. If you really think 50% of all of the Ones delivered to stores are defective...
The CNET phone was thrown from a moving vehicle at least 8 feet off the pavement, twice. It also bounced several times. I would hardly expect any unprotected phone to do better under the circumstances. You can also find other torture and drop tests where the One performed as well as could be expected or better.
The digitizer on the S4 extends right to the edge of the phone on all sides, so I doubt the bezel provides much protection unless the phone lands on its back. You'll also find a lot of complaints about fragility and spontaneous screen cracks in the S4 as well.
I'm not saying the One is a perfect phone. I'm just saying you don't get an accurate view of the failure rate from forums.
EDIT: I just wanted to make it clear the 3% number was simply an example. I don't know the One's real sales numbers or failure rate. I very much doubt the failure rate is anywhere close to 50% though.

I have to agree - most people don't bother to post on forums like these when they don't have a fault! When they do, the Google, find a thread, register, and then post to it, making some issues look more widespread than they actually are. You can go to *any* forum here for popular devices and find a very similar pattern, and the better a device sells, the more prevalent it will seem.
Regards,
Dave
It's a Li-Po battery so I think at least 2 years should be definitely possible I personally think we can get more than 3 years out of it because my HTC Desire (Li-Ion) lasted for 3 years, then I had to buy a new battery. I charged it whenever I want and how long I want
I don't pay attention on the charging cycles and several tipps, such as not charging beyond 80%. It's a phone and I simply hope that they construct it for lasting longer

Good to know it will only last 3 years so I won't be buying it.
I will look into the Xperia ZR which has removable battery or the S4 Mini etc. Even the Xperia SP looks really nice also.
Where I live these things are very expensive and I am not about to throw away a perfectly working phone in the space of 3 years time. An Xperia ZR can last me for the next 10 years because I will mostly be using it for web browsing and netflix mostly. And yeah casual gaming.
Phones now aren't like 10 years ago or even 4 years ago. Look at my ancient Athlon X2 CPU its really ancient and still I can play new games being released for PC on High Settings combined with my ancient Radeon HD 4870 card. So even modern computers can now last a very long time its not evolving the rate it used to. Same with phones they have now reached an acceptable level of power where you can keep them for a very long time to come
And if anything websites are getting more efficient with HTML 5 etc to use less processing power and to work faster. And I love to run my casual games to kill time also when I am in work doing nothing and waiting for a flight. $480 USD on Amazon for the ZR sounds good. Will cost me in total of $600 USD when it reaches my hand.
Should only take me 2 months at max to save this money.
I mean I don't go to clubs and waste money on alcohol nor do I smoke etc. I might aswell buy what makes me happy lol
I like to know that I can destroy my battery as much as I want and when it gives up all I have to do is swap in another one in 5 seconds and my phone is good as new once more.

No, I didn't say it'll only last 3 years I guess we can get more than 3 years out of it. It's only a guess, we have to wait until that date to know more about it
Yes, in Germany this phone is very expensive, too. I paid 561€, that's 751$... But I know that I won't have it for over 4 or 5 years even if the battery will last that long. There is so much progress in smartphone development, I don't want to know where the One will be in 4 years xD
yeah good point.
But even if I want to sell or give my phone to a family member say my little nephew later on when I upgrade, it would be nice to give him a phone that actually works and has a working battery.
So from what I have seen especially pricing. I am going with the Xperia ZR it fits my budget, and has everything I need including removable battery so I can have a spare to carry around with me also when one goes dead.
one question why do they make phones with non removable battery?
why not make it metal and make the battery removable?

Argh, how to explain this with my bad English xD I'll try:
With a removable battery you always need a separate "room" where it'll be placed and as well a separate case. This will leads to consume more space so the design couldn't be that thin. But the most important point: If you'll use the space- where a removable battery fits - you can increase the volume of the battery itself which involve larger batteries with more capacity
And... Maybe an economical reason: The manufacturer will "bond" the consumer to their replacement/repair center if the battery is broken and has to be replaced.

I would recommend checking out the Xperia in person before you make your final decision. For me it came down to the ZR and the One. I really liked the rugged body on the Sony. I fish a lot and use a hydrographic map app that shows the depth of different bodies of water, so the water resistant and dustproof housing was a big bonus. I went with the One because the ZR uses a TFT screen similar to a laptop computer. The viewing angles and daylight visibility are horrible.
Google slashed $100 off the Nexus 4
So I am gonna buy the N4 for $200 USD unlocked. Thats a incredible price for such a phone so not gonna bother with $700 HTC anymore
The N4 is so cheap at $200 USD that I don't even care what happens to the battery I can buy back another phone heck by the time this battery goes bad it will have the updated ones that I won't care.
Heck I don't even care about selling back a N4 in 3 years. If I get 3 years I will toss it in the trash and buy a 2016 Nexus phone for he same $200

Rising industry costs and inflation.
Just saying.
Good thing about Nexii is that Google doesn't care about making that much of a profit on hardware. N4 is a great deal for 250. Don't buy the 8 gig. 3 gigs are prolly used up by system. Hell, the One has 7 gigs filled up when fresh out of the factory!

8500mAh Battery for $28

Dear XDA Members,
Okay I want to buy this product, and I can't find reviews about it as opposed to the famous ZeroLemon Battery Extension.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/8500mAh-Extended-Battery-Back-Case-Cover-For-Samsung-N7100-Galaxy-Note-II-2-/181102485781?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item2a2a8ca115&_uhb=1
What's the issue with these? Why are they not popular? I get this with free delivery as opposed to ZeroLemon which adds up to about $65 for an extra 800mAh (I don't think that's worth it considering I won't be getting that till December according to Amazon and their shipping). I live in Australia.
Have a look at it, let me know what you think please.

General rule of thumb: If anyone is claiming to squeeze a billion mAh into a standard or only slightly larger battery, it's a ripoff.
The battery isn't popular because it doesn't live up to it's claimed rating.
Even posting a link to it, some poor sap is going to buy it, give it a shot, and get ripped off for 28 hard earned dollars better spent on chewing gum or popcorn.
There are one or two other posters that have posted links to the same battery, and they all have few posts like this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494002
Then there's this battery which suspiciously looks just like that one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465295
Just a few samples pulled from the first 3 pages here. Stick with the reliable products. Might be more expensive, but they sure work well.
Thanks for the information... So the people getting them claim they see a difference, while others are denouncing their posts without trying them. I have no doubt the ZeroLemon one will last longer (it just seems like a much more solid product, its size alone is basically three times that of the original), I went through with it on amazon all the way until the final checkpoint and realized i'm paying $20 for delivery and it will take about a month at least before I receive it...
I'm sure this product claiming to be an 8500mAh battery isn't really 8500mAh... If people are getting a 4500mAh battery they would assume it's lasting twice longer when it's actually giving them a few extra hours of use, and it will probably degrade worse than the samsung one over time.
I wish I can find stock for the ZeroLemon one here in Australia but sadly I can't find any, so I might have to get this one and give it a review myself. It does look like it's double the thickness of the original, so hopefully it's double the life (at least for the first few months before it degrades and melts on my phone and burns it) lol
listen to apallohadas because he's absolutely correct here. vectron has also done tests with proper battery testing measures that show such batteries are rip offs as well. that's the one thing to note about chinese/foreign electronics...they can be rebranded far too easily because majority of the time it's the same company behind its production.

Okay I'll take both of your words for it and not purchase this product.. I'll wait for the cover to come out for ZeroLemon (should be soon from what I've been reading) and might get that with the Rugged Cover.
If anyone who has purchased these batteries and would like to propose an alternative view to the current one, please feel free to comment.
Thanks again for the replies.

Anyone found a good battery replacement?

Still have the original T800 going strong. Problem is battery is crap, understandably. I replaced it with one I bought from eBay. Looked just like the real Samsung battery, but didn't work like a new battery. Maybe it was pulled out of an unit. Have to charge all the time and it'll fail soon probably.
Anyone found a good reasonably priced battery? There's newpower99 but man they are expensive!
Thanks
I bought one last year for my T800 from the seller below via ebay. I've been happy with it - it basically doubled my battery life - though not quite as good as the original stock battery when I first bought the Tab. I didn't look to see if they still sell them.

I went Here for my T700
Supposedly they are an authorized samsung parts distributor

No, it's not expensive, it's an excellent battery and it costs every euro you pay. I bought that battery for my 8.4 s tab and now my consumptions are incredible, I have doubled the screen hours or more ... Of 10 hours or more in several days of use!

I have used that kind of brand in an old Sony ebook reader. In the end I checked the serial number of the battery provided and it was a rebranded Cameron Sino (a honkong based company) battery.
As far as I could Google, CS specializes in replacement batteries for devices where the vendors do not provide any for end users. Not sure how good they are in the long term.
They say they have all the necessary brandings, but as we know the CE logo is just a sheet of paper nowdays and how far can you trust chinese companies with what they say about security brandings.
I always have a bad feeling by using third party batteries because I know about the fire risks li ion batteries can cause if they are badly manufactured (who knows where the cells for the CS batteries come from). CS probably does not produce their own cells, but also just puts cells together from who knows where. But take this with a grain of salt, I could be wrong here. Also do not trust vendors who say they sell original batteries. I once bought overpriced Apple replacement batteries for a 2009 laptop, in the end I ended up with the usual no name trash sold for this machine but twice the price.
I´d say it is overdue that we get laws to force the OEMs to provide original replacement batteries for every device sold. They also might stop doing stupid things luke gluing battery cells to the cases that way or stop making battery replacements as hard as possible. We need a right to repair forced by law.

I agree, and it's not even repairing ! Only a right to do basic maintenance.
