Hello guys!
I got myself a Bell I9000M and did the following to it:
Rooted > Clockwork Mod > Flashed to Darky's 9.2 > Carrier Unlock (Hex Edit 01 to 00)
Everything works great other than the fact that I messed up the unlock once then I reverted back to the original nv_data.bin at which point I corrected it and made the right Hex Edit.
it is now unlocked and I'm using a ROGERS sim... it works fine ... but...
I get really really poor signal, and 3G/Edge/HSPA intermittently goes out.
My questions are:
Does anyone know why this is?
How do I revert it back to "Factory fresh" and start over.... I'm thinking my first mess up on the nv_Data.bin may have caused the issue.
Thank You!
Does anyone know why this is?
One that rom may have wiped your network settings check them all .
Two try a factory reset .
Three flash back to stock rom .
jje
I've tried flashing to the "Ultimate v7.8 Rom" via ClockworkMod. It seemed to keep everything the same but it had a different look to it.
Should I download any stock ROM and Flash it back then go back to Darky's?
Does anyone know a link in which I can attain the Stock Bell ROM?
Thank You!
Should I download any stock ROM and Flash
Stock rom for phone model only .
it back then go back to Darky's?
Yeh break it again .
jje
Do I just put it into Download mode and flash the stock Bell ROM on with Odin?
I would suggest using darky rom, with jl2 modem, and speedmod kernal.
I live in BC Canada and it works great. I have work email sync every 15 min and still at 58% after all day use.

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right section. I attempted to flash my Bell Galaxy S with the [ROM] Bionix 1.9 - JI6 OTA Build - Oops I did it again *10/14/10* and basically it installed no problem, but once it did my phone would no longer connect to the network at all. No voice or data connection just sat on searching. I restored from my nandriod backup and to my horror, still no network connection (voice or data), wifi and everything else worked fine. I ended up doing a lot of reading and staying up until 8AM to get everything fixed, felt a little stupid once i knew how-to fix it.
But now to my question, if i want to flash one of the roms, is there any special procedure that i need to follow to not loose my cell network? Any help would be fantastic
LOL... Thats sux's anyways you can't flash that rom. its not for your phone you have a GT-I9000... that rom you have flashed is for the SGH-T959.... You will need to download Odin 1.3 and flash back the whole JH2 firmware to get your radio files back. or download any rom from the i9000 forums and flash it.. but the only way to get 850mhz back is to flash to the stock JH2 firmware. unless you know what your doing and know how to flash just the radio files. you can also try kies with a reg hack to flash different firmwares.. just look around in the i9000 forums..
Go to samsung-firmwares.com and download the JH2 firmware then flash it back. Tmobile Vibrant is different from the i9000x line of phones.
I think you guys misunderstood, I have fixed it already using ODIN. I was just wondering what was flashable without breaking my radio.

I think they answered your question when they told you not to flash a rom that isn't meant for your device
how did u get it back i have the same problem with my samsung epic, can u help
I have a I9000t on CellularOne (MTPCS). It's original firmware was I9000tubjg5. I updated to Darky's 9.0.3 and it worked great. However the Wifi would not work. So, I told it to do a factory reset, and this bricked it. So next I used Odin to put a stock 2.1 firmware on it from the XDA forums. This worked, but then I could not connect to CellularOne, only roaming with T-Mobile. I then tried Darky's 8.0, then stock 2.2, and now back on stock 2.1. Does anyone have an idea to fix it back to CellularOne(MTPCS)?
I guess the experts on here don't have a clue about my problem.

More like you are in to much of a hurry .
Your problem is you installed Darkys rom it broke something and you compounded the problem by further upgrades .
Take it back to a clean install using Odin Block 2 method .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
I presume you set your network up manually and you may well have to do it again .If their is no CSC file for your network .
In which case i would personally use Odin to update to Eclair 2.1 and then use Kies for the official update and back up that rom .
jje
I'm also on MTPCS, and i used Darky's procedure from v5 to install. That included an ODIN to 2.1 with clockwork and some other reflashes.
Your best bet is to odin back to 2.1 factory, then start from there. It will take a while, but Darky has the best roms I've seen so far.
Thanks everyone for the info. Nothing worked. I called CellOne and got a replacement. Guess What? The replacement is an I9000 with 2.2.1 preinstalled! Firmware I9000XXJPU.
Hi, so last night i tried to put gingerbread and serendipity on my friends captivate thats unlocked to tmobile.
All the odin package to install the bootloader and gb went well but when i flashed the kernal it just messed the functionality of the phone up and i had to odin back to stock.
He is on eclair still. I was told that it should work with tmobile. I dont have to put serendipity on but as an end result he does want gb rooted. So...is there any tmobile happy roms available that will get my gb rooted?
thanks in advance
all great roms here are "t mobile happy". What exactly went wrong in the process?
Any rom will work, as long as the phone is unlocked. I assume you already know that the cappy will be missing one of the bands for Tmo.
ok, so all went smooth at first using odin to flash the bootloader and stock gingerbread. Next I went and used odin to flash the kernal and it installed properly and even showed up right in the settings as the right kernal.
After reboot these were the problems i encountered:
- home button didnt work at all
-when making a call and hitting send, the phone would turn off
-no data - no market or web connectivity
- other little things
the stock gingerbread was working fine after the first flash. can i flash any kernal to root or just retry the same one?
thanks
Sounds like you installed a i9000 rom. Double check your rom source.
on the splash screen it said i9000 but i thought it was just ported over or something. but i got it from the captivate page... uggh im lost if thats the case
Ok folks,
Forgive me if this is a panic post!
I successfully rooted my note this morning, I was on LA6 firmware, Downgraded and rooted without any problems.
I noticed that I only had "emergency calls only" after the reboot, so went into mobile network settings and managed to get a signal on my network (3uk) although it dropped again when I rebooted again?
Right after the Rooting was done, I backed up my EFS folder as stated is best practice, then backed up the stock rom.
I thought that maybe the old baseband version was giving me the issues (I presume the notes modem is similar to the HTC radio?) so I went ahead and gave Checkrom NoteHD V6 a shot. It all installed fine and as it should but I still have the no network issue. I dont think it corrupted the efs system as I can still use wifi and my IMEI number is still there.
Any ideas for a new note owner?
Edit:
-----------
I did make note that I was on Baseband XXLA4 before rooting or flashing anything, is it safe to go ahead and flash it from the modems thread via CWM? Should this help?
any pointers if doing so?

You may have already tried this but are your APN settings correct?
They may change or get deleted between ROM flashes
Also what modem do you have and baseband in the about phone menu right now?
Wow, that was quick!
My APN settings all seem fine. The preset for three.co.uk were still there and the settings inside seem intact.
Im currently running baseband XXLB2.

Then it should work your modem is not old and your APN is fine
Maybe try putting another SIM or another carrier
As ive put in the edit to the OP, is it safe to try to flash back to the XXLA4 modem? If all else fails that is?

How did you root your note? I am on 3 in the UK with same firmware, have been looking around but not much progress.
Cheers.
First thing first...
- do the hard reset Vol Up + Menu + Power *or* CWM Wipe everything. Reboot...
- Still no go, go and download different radio HERE and flash it

Ok, followed your advice. Hard reset hasnt improved it.
So went ahead and flashed XXLA4 (my original modem) - Nothing,
Just tried the KL1 modem -Nothing! GRRRRR!
Maybe I will try to go back to stock, I was on the LA6 firmware, See if that works.
sorry m8, couldn't help much...
is that phone carrier locked?
i suggest, flash CheckRoom v6 (the most professional stock look-alike rom). If the problem still there, try flash another radio. After that if still no go... try CM9/AOSP ICS

No, no carrier lock, no branding, no nothing!
Just been racking my brains, after refering to a video link posted in the how to root galaxy note thread, I see a chap called cursed4eva created a video using ODDKL1 as the downgrade to root method. Just checked on samfirmware.com and that is Indian firmware, could this cause my network issue?
Im in the process of downloading the lastest Uk firmware now.
If it was the case that this indian firmware was causing the issue, wouldnt flashing checkrom fix it? I didnt seem to for me?
Anyway, rooting around on the samfirmware pages, ive found a directly rootable firmware package (KK3) that was a carphone warehouse UK one.
If I get network back from the latest firmware, im going to downgrade to the above mentioned carphone warehouse package, Root, and try again.
I will post back some results ASAP.
you can flash any rom, but the main problem is the radio. different country got different radio.

I hate to be a pain, but please could you throw me a link to these, they may come in helpful as my carrier wants me to send the phone to them for repair. I dont really want to do that. Their turn around can be horrendous!

Thanks for your help guys.
Hi,
I'm pretty new to the whole custom ROM scene and have come across a problem when installing CynogenMod version 10.1.3-RC2-galaxysmtd. I've been able to get everything else working but can't seem to get any network service or GPS.
I've read numerous articles on flashing a correct radio or installing a new modem (not sure if this is the same thing or not?) if you can't get any service but haven't done this yet. I've also read articles on moving the files from sdcard\backup\efs into the efs folder in the phone memory which I've tried but doesn't seem to work either.
My baseband version is I9000XXJVT and the rom is running on android 4.2.2. Before the ROM I'm currently on I came from a stock Gingerbread ROM. Was there something I needed to do when coming from a stock ROM that I missed?
Any help on this would be appreciated as I've hit a bit of brick wall
Thanks
Hey there,
So long story short, you've probably lost your IMEI. You can check this by going into Settings -> About Phone -> Status then scrolling down to IMEI. If it begins with 044 or something similar then you know you've lost it.
So to solve this:
1. Flash back to the stock Gingerbread you were on by means of Odin, there are many guides for this but the one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444308 is quite comprehensive (and leave the OP a thanks as well)
2. Download CM9 from the Cyanogenmod website.
3 Root your S again (this will depend on which Gingerbread rom you flash).
4. Boot into CWM recovery. Do the usual data/cache/Dalvik wipes.
5. Install CM9. Let it boot. You don't need to download ICS gapps for CM9 as all you need it to do is boot.
The reason why you install CM9 is to make sure that the IMEI sticks when you then flash a JB rom. Flashing straight to JB from GB tends to lose the IMEI as said before.
6. Once you've let it boot, reboot into recovery again. You don't really need to do the same three wipes again. Install CM10.1.3 RC2. You'll need to flash the zip a few times- three times at least. Flash Gapps as well, of course.
That should hopefully make your signal reception and GPS work
(I covered this quite briefly so if you do need clarification on any of the steps don't hesitate to ask)

Hi
I checked and I do have an IMEI number which begins with 3 not 0. I also checked the IMEI number and it brought back the correct phone details.
Should I still follow the guid you have linked to or do I not need to do that?
Thanks.
Odd... If the IMEI is intact then you should be geting reception. What you could do is make a backup of your rom and then try the steps I suggested to see if you get the same problem.
Most likely however its due to your modem. In the development thread there's a list of modems compatible with the I9000. Try flash XXJW4 or one for your country through recovery and see if that fixes anything- if not, try the steps.
