Hey guys can anybody tell me what is this and how to validate its score..im bit confused.. is the score should be higher or lower?
Benchmarks are worthless unless you're comparing different phones.
Thanks for that, but which ROM will be gud..i own SGS international Mob. currently running Darky rom 9.3 beta

Huh? That's possibly the most incorrect statement I have EVER heard in regards to benchmarks.
Benchmarks are worthless, UNLESS you are optimising for a specific usage scenario. They also help when you have enough of them and are using profiling tools.
But as a performance tool, without seeing what they testing, they don't mean much. After all, as a user, you care about how well your overall phone runs, not a single application

Okay, another question that makes me feel kinda dumb.
How can I improve my N1's performance?
Specifically, how in the world do I get my nexus even close to the N1's I see on Linpack's "Top Devices"?
I'm running diet_2.6.33.2.hybrid_avs_925mv_OC with cyanogen 5.0.6. I can get 7.778 MFLOPS. Honestly, I don’t even know what that means. All I know is that I want more. Or do I? Does it even make that much of a difference in everyday usage?
I've noticed that in the JIT thread under development they talk about getting up to 17 MFLOPS, but no one really explains what JIT is or does. Just that it's unstable and that if your not sure what it is, you don't need it.
I can benchmarkPi in 2790 - how in the hell do I get it lower? Under the rom description of some of the top 50 they mention JIT and experimental kernels, but there's not much room for more than just the generic names of them. Where do I get these magical roms and kernels? Do I even want them? Are they so unstable that they can only be used to gain geek cred on some benchmark lists and once they hit the "high score" they explode in flames? Do I need safety goggles before I flash the update.zip?
Seriously though, I know I'm not the only one with these questions - so any info would help. And do me a favor, please do not respond to say that if I don't know - I don’t need to know. At one point, you didn't know either. No one was born with this knowledge.
I know there is a very bright person on here that is willing to take a couple of minutes to shed some light on us simpletons. I'd like to thank you in advance. Thanks.
Even if you get higher linpack scores, you will barely notice any difference in your devices performance... That's why I tend to ignore it. If its possible to get faster than Cyanogen ROMs (not in terms of linpack) I don't know how different things would be.. im curious about how quick Froyo is though.
Oh and have you searched, Jit has been covered in more places than just xda developers, several times it has been discussed I believe.. while using it, my Linpack scores did get into the double digits though - but this (not even that noticeable actually) speed increase was not worth the random reboots, and such. When Jit is stable though, it will be quite nice.. hopefully Froyo has it.
Linpack number did not make any differences in overall usage . Now, I am using my own UV kernel and setcpu max freq to 500MHz.. only... but, I still able to get 26.8 fps in Neocore's 3D benchmark. Playing games, 3D or not, still smooth and fluid.
I also waiting for Froyo and hope we can get even efficient and fast OS.
TQ.
I had a Samsung Moment and most of the rom descriptions included the Mflop scores. I sold it and got a Hero and I've noticed pretty much no one lists or talks about Mflop scores? Is there a reason for this, is it not important since the Hero is so slow anyways?
The fastest score I've seen was with the new AospMod rom 5.6. Do any of the 2.1 roms compare?

I think it's because no one here really cares about it. Mostly because it doesn't matter. Most of us on the hero boards are more concerned with important stuff like stability, and coming from a moment and calling the hero slow is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. ;-)

MFlops is an arbitrary cpu scoring system much like Bogomips for Linux and you see it posted on almost every roms OP. The problem is that its affected by tons of stuff and just because aospbot posts a 5.6 doesn't mean thats what you'll get, you might be running a ton of widgets and facebook sync and other stuff.
CM6 also got a 5.6 or so and I've seen 2.1 sense rom also post a high scores like this. You should use it yourself and determine what is a good score on your phone under normal conditions and then use that as a bases for scoring other roms on YOUR phone.
Mflops are usually calculated by how many Floating Point operations it can calculate per second (usually pi to some exponent), while Mips is how many Fixed point operations it can calculate a second.
So pretty much ignore it unless your running it on your phone.

Come on the moment has an 800mhz processor that can be overclocked and the same amount of RAM as the Hero (288). It's faster, but that doesn't mean it's better. I prefer the Hero.

Mflops is still used, but it is no longer a primary measure of a phone's capabilities. Most people use Quadrant to determine a phone's performance, as that incorporates 2D and 3D graphic performance in addition to calculations. But I've heard people use BenchmarkPi, CPU Benchmark, etc. It all is really quite irrelevant if your phone is fast enough and performs well enough for you; posting scores of any type is really just a digital pissing contest.
Hi, so after cm rooting i noticed there is also an ext4 upgrade...is this worth it and will I have data lose during the change? Im on 2.3.3 and am wondering if it is really worth it! Ed
are you kidding me?
besides that this post should not even be in this forum (try Q & A) there are hundreds of other posts and threads discussing this topic if you only use your -(0-0)- !
Yes and no
It may have some advantages but as for what I'm not sure but as for nay major advantages I would say no. I'm still using EXT2 and my benchmarkes are still 1900+. I've tried almost all the other lagfixes and found no real advantage. The only thing I hate about custom kernels with lagfix is the secondary samsung splash screens and custom splash screen. They kill the post time.
I would say it isn't as worth it as what people say. First thing most people do after converting their filesystem is run quadrant. It's possible that improved quadrant scores don't translate to real world performance though.
Even worse, running quadrant actually engages the placebo effect so you walk in with a more positive impression. Meanwhile, I don't recall ever seeing anyone from the EXT4/EXT2 i9000 community running blind tests, and neither development community has actually shown any evidence formal testing has been performed. All the arguments seem to be based around quadrant and PC testing. If methods like this were applied to clinical testing, every drug would pass
Honestly, give both a try, but do it blindly.
Why Quadrant may be wrong
This is just a bit of background why Quadrant's scores may not reflect real life performance. Until we check the actual ratio's of Quadrant, and compare with actual usage ratio's though, we can't identify how "real" it's scores are.
Consider a benchmark which produces 1 final score. It may be calculated by:
[MAX TIME - Time to read 1000mb] + [Max time - time to write 1000MB]. In this case, both scores contribute to 50% of the final score, which can be worth 2x MAX Time.
Scenario 1: Time to read/write is both the same
Scenario 2: Read time is 1% shorter than Scenario 1, but write time is 1% longer. Both will have the same score in Quadrant..
Scenario 3: Read time is 5% longer than Scenario 1, but write time is 50% shorter. Scenario 3 will get the best score
Which one is ACTUALLY faster though. The benchmark-toting individuals will claim Scenario 3 is faster, because of the score. HOWEVER, that may be incorrect. Consider the following:
If a user reads 100x more data than they write:
1) Clearly, faster read scores are more important.
2) The BEST filesystem will be Scenario 2, despite being equal last.
3) Scenario 1 will be mid place
4) The scenario with the best score, will actually have the WORST performance.
5) A drop in 1% read performance would need a HUGE increase in write performance to actually be faster.
Until we have an idea of how accurate Quadrant REALLY is, run your own tests, and do so without knowing which filesystem is running. High quadrant scores may boost your e-penis size, but as you can see, it is theoretically possible for the scores which are produced to score slower performing filesystems more highly than faster ones. Disappointingly though, a decreasing number of users/developers at XDA these days are actually interested in the truth, and simply in not being wrong.
Even worse, the community for some reason seems VERY anti-RFS, and wont give it a chance regardless. It might be a LOT better than it used to be. Either way, it seems to be good enough for me.
Ignore the theatrics and run a blind test. That's the only way to determine what is ACTUALLY faster.

I guess you mean CF root right? Will just answer the data loose question. No you shouldnt. But do a backup before. Its fast and easy (if you are on CF root that is)
If its worth depends on you? You experience any lag on rfs? Phone slow?

@ramrod54 , where did you get ext2 support on JVK? And what the?
What samsung splash screens and custom splash? What rom and kernel are you on? And what lagfixes? And we both know quadrant score doesnt matter does it ?
Yes, it's worth it. Some things (Android Market, Gmail) works really MUCH faster then on rfs.

Hrm, I've never noticed a difference. Market is slow on any room, hell market.android.com is slow too. Gmail always worked fast for me, on any rom.
Personally, I don't see or feel the point in using anything but rfs, but I suppose if someone has half a bazillion apps installed, then maybe an alternative filesystem might be better.
I say try it. If you notice a difference, good for you. If you don't, then stick with rfs.
What about battery performance ? from what I have read, battery performance is also better with RFS.
I always use ex4, its not as needed now on gingerbread but I just prefer the file system...it is better than RFS...but RFS has improved a great deal so you may not noticed that much difference, the rom may become a little smoother..You wont get data lose because of ex4, maybe the way the kernel is built...dont forget that 2.3.3 gingerbread is still beta and without the source code for the kernel you cant expect great things yet, although chainfire has done some amazing work and now we can change the file system using his app....works really well.
Also regarding battery, the difference in performance is such a small margin that its not even an issue.
What alot of people aren't aware of is that the Nexus S for example uses ex4 file system as default straight out of the box
Its not just a lagfix for the galaxy s, its a very good file system too...
Just a side note on Quadrant, ex4, ex2 will trick the app...if you buy the pro version, you will see how much the file system stretches on the bar...Quadrant is more for fun....or HTC
Think it´s worth cause rfs slow down your system after a while

49,863 on STOCK KERNEL running FireKatv2 ROM!!!
Almost 50K on STOCK Kernel!!!!
Anyone break 49K on stock kernel? State your ROM you're using too...
This is all for fun, but has anyone hit 49K on the stock kernel?
I've tested all the available ROM's on the other N4 in my household and none has has hit 49K except, FireKatv2.
Show me! :good::good:
100% Stock rom and Stock kernel no root
I dont get it. I have been on a quest to make my phone better since the note 2. I always hit XDA and tinker and learn as much as I can but sometimes I see scores and I see people really excited about the "speed increase and battery life improvements with new roms etc, and I dont get it because for example this is my score without any work on the phone at all. My battery life is about 7.5 hours screen time with gps on and sync on all the time. Screen set to auto. Dont get me wrong I am a lover of modding and hate all the bs that carriers and sammy puts on the phones I am here because I love to work on my phone but I see no real difference right now even maybe I slow the phone down if I do anything to it. Whats going on? I remember on my note 3 I was able to see some improvement on my benchmarks over stock (not by much) and a little better battery life but again not a huge difference. Also I thought I should mention that on echoe rom I was able to score 24 to 25,000 on quadrant clocked at 2.2 ALL THE TIME I once even scored 27,000 when I was overclocked at 2.5. How come I never break 26,000 even tho I am clocked at 2.7 now. Also why am I scoring so high over modded phones
That's an excellent score! Well in your case it just proves that the stock software isn't terrible. It works....Simple as that. As for the modded peeps with custom ROM's, a lot of them have so much crap on there apps wise and have it heavily tweaked with wanam/xposed where it is really weighing down their phones.
I also have a theory about the CPU's in that they are not all created equal. Remember with the Note 3's there was a prompt in the dialer where you could go to a secret menu to see what type of processor you had. I think it was from 0-7 or something and the closer the number was to 7 meant you had a more efficient CPU, but not friendly / "as tolerant" to overclock as oppose to someone with a number closer to "0" which meant that it was more power hungry and more tolerant to over clocking. If you search for it you'll find what I'm talking about. ...
Anyway, I think we have the same thing going on here....where some of us just happen to have stronger CPU's. It's just like car engines.....not all are the same as every one of them have their own unique character. I remember when I got my AMG C Class and my buddy had the same one but a year newer. He used to smoke me (stock) where I had intake/exhaust/flashed chip. I just didn't get it. Sometimes you just end up with a [email protected]$$ CPU coming from a good batch LOL.
Another example is microSD cards...you can buy the same brand / type and all, but will always have different results. My Samsung 64GB PRO is faster than my other Samsung 64GB Pro that I have in another N4. Same phone, same chip...different speeds.
You have an awesome piece. Great score! I can't wait to break 50K's on a stock kernel!

Finally did it! Woke up, ran it....bam! As stated above this is with FireKatv2, Stock Kernel, Bone Stock and No App. I cleaned up a lot of my apps and my set up is real clean and simple. This is crazy....maybe I'm dreaming right now as I just woke up. No wait, I am awake. :victory:

Im using Galaxy Note 4 T mobile running on marshmallow, I am using beastmode kernal
I noticed Geekbench 4 Pro was free for a limited time on Play Store, so I downloaded it and ran a benchmark.
Device Status;
-OOS 5.0
-Stock Kernel
-Magisk 14.5 with IOS 11 Icons, and Greenify4Magisk
My Geekbench benchmarks were lower than the OnePlus 3! Any clue how this happened?
Why people give so much importance to benchmark ?
Now that this app told you these results, you gonna hate your phone ?
Live your life with your phone, what's matter the most is your experience, no the what a 3rd party application tells you.
Thats just a benchmark not a real world usage thing. If u believe something like that then xda is not for u. Only those who don't knkw abt xda would think that benchmark is everything

First of all, hardware degradation exists. I'm not going to hate my phone just because it's benchmarks are low, I'd like to know WHY this occurs. THE TECHNICAL SIDES OF THIS ANOMALY. Yes, I know my experience is what matters to me, But I asked this question to understand why and how this happens. I didn't ask a solution for this did I?
Lmao, who're you to tell me XDA ain't for me? I asked a legitimate question in the "Q&A" section. I don't lose trust or faith in my device since my benchmarks are down, I wanted someone with the technical know-how to explain to me why the benchmarks differ from a less power SoC to a higher power SoC.
Clearly you're not someone who knows anything about why this happens, and stop wasting your time telling people your opinion of what you think benchmarks represent. I asked a legitimate question, and that's my right on XDA.

Ur daily usage performance is being degraded also?
Or is it just benchmark being decreased?
Look at my benchmark its much lower than urs. Bt its my phone is performing just like it used to besides this numbers also. Its about experience with the phone nkt numbers ok. So dont be all about benchmark
