Hello All,
I am going to purchase a Wi-Fi Motorola Xoom, and I would like to tether my Droid so it can have internet, however, there is a problem. The Droid Wireless Tether app from the market will only do ad-hoc on the Droid hardware, but Android devices cannon't connect to ad-hoc, so I was wondering if there was a hack to enable wifi infrastructure mode. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Viewsonic GTablet and had the same problem using wireless tether with it and my Moto Droid. The fix was on the GTablet end so you will probably have to wait till the Xoom tablet is out before a fix/work around is developed.

Like mmracing said you are probably going to have to wait for the xoom to actually come out, or wait for a root for the xoom and the devs to come up with a infrastructure hack that will allow ad-hoc
I would also like to broadcast non-adhoc wireless with my Motorola Droid (Gen 1 - Original). I just picked up the xoom, and cannot see my wireless. Any progress with this?
Guess we're going to have to wait for the bionic or thunderbolt to be able to tether?

This may seem like an obvious question but is there any problem wireless tethering the NC to a rooted htc evo using wireless tethering? I ask because I read that the galaxy tab could have a problem with doing this and I want to make sure I can do what I want to before I but one
I am evo rooted on CM6 nightlies.. wifi connected perfect on my first try...
Sweet! That's what I needed to know thanks
I have an Evo, rooted with unrevoked3, installed wifi hotspot app from Google Code...no issues whatsoever.
Ok I tried the motorola Atrix the other day. And I saw that it comes with a better wifi app or signal receiver. I would like to know if some one knows how to make our wifi better or flash custom the atrix wifi app, to see it works better. I have a VIZIO router at home the Inspire just reads the VIZIO signal which runs at 2.5ghz And there is a option to run VIZIO HD which runs up to 5.0+ ghz. But the only device that ever read it was the Moto Atrix, sadly it isn't mine. Although I like the Inspire mutch better. If any one knows I would appreciate some suggestions. I'm doing my own research if anyone interested.
Are there any keyboards with trackpads that you can hook up to the Bionc in conjunction with Webtop via HDMI?
I searched, only found 1 topic in the Atrix forum that was never answered.
I succesfully paired my Logitec Dinovo Mini and it works like a charm trackpad and everything.

Bluetooth devices work just fine, just make sure you buy Bluetooth and you should be golden.

------- EDIT
Sorry, I'd like to point out why I say this. I have a pretty freakin' old MX5500 keyboard & mouse combo from Wal-Mart years back. They sync fine even though they were designed without Android in mind at all.

Old fashioned wireless keyboards, mice and trackpads work too -- doesn't have to be Bluetooth. Sometimes they can be a lot cheaper, or you might even have some old ones from a PC that would work. I picked up a Logitech mouse/keyboard combo that works off one USB dongle for about $30, and it works great with the HDMI dock, in both Webtop and Mirroring modes.
I know there is a thread out there asking how to turn your N7 into a phone, however I'm looking to do it differently.
I am wondering if it is at all possible (now, or down the line planned) to allow my N7 to act like a phone while tethered (bluetooth or wireless) to my cell phone (SGS 1 running ICS)
The reason I ask is I am hoping to be mostly hands free in the car when I'm driving having the N7 mounted, I'd like to be able to receive or make calls at one touch of the button on it, rather then trying to dig out my SGS1.
Again, looking to use N7 as a phone using my cell phone plan and NOT over 3G/4G.

Ah the works perfectly, thanks very much.
Hopefully someone down the line can fix the default bluetooth connection issues that the N7 has so we don't have to run another 2 apps ontop of it (on the phone with reguards to Fixi and pdanet) to have them connected for internet too.
It's in early beta and haven't tried it myself but this seems to be the only option: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.funkyandroid.phonelink

Tablet Talk works amazingly, well worth the 3$ especially with that 25$ credit to the playstore.
So i am very much enjoying the N7 but somewhat missing the 3g on my old galaxy tab. Sure I can tether to a phone but i was wondering, is there any chance that plugging a 3g dongle into usb-otg cable will work on the n7?
Thx
I doubt it. I don't think there are drivers for the device to talk to an external 3g modem.
Look here.

I'm planning on using mine by either tethering my phone or one of those little portable wifi/3g sharing things "pocketwifi"
