Are there any UK resellers for the nook color? Any UK users with a nook color maybe who can advise me?
Looking at a 7" tablet/ereader as a gift, because I've left it (slightly) late I don't have time to wait for something to ship from the US
I've found one store (Purelygadgets.co.uk) but it's 1:1 £:$ and they've terrible reviews for customer service.
All advice appreciated!
I'm a little out of touch when it comes to imports, are there any importers for this type of thing?

other than purelygadgets, none that i know of other than occasional ebay.co.uk listings, usually from US sellers.
i used amazon.com (not co.uk), got it about two weeks back. there were about 8 sellers listed willing to ship to the UK. tried one first, when payment time came, got the message due to legal restrictions the item cannot be shipped to the UK.
almost gave up hope, then tried another, blueproton. and voila, it went through.
shipment was within a couple of hours. excellent work from their end. £221 in total, including Fedex postage. in all, 5 days, including weekend!

the other thread wasn't much use to me since it doesn't list any official channels (there really isn't any). I got myself one in february though. Ordered one from Amazon US, the UK one doesn't carry it.
there are a few resellers on amazon US, i tried one that shipped internationally but when time came to pay (with a British credit card), i faced the message due to licensing restrictions the product can't be shipped internationally.
for some reason, i decided to try my luck again with another reseller, Blueproton on amazon US. this time it worked. their dispatch was ultra quick, though fedex did screw up a bit. long story short, you can try to buy from blueproton on amazon US. Cost in total was about £232 if i remember right, including 25 for shipping (i used expedited though).
I have yet to see someone claim to have bought e-note from ebay? I see prices as low as $670 dollars (US) including shipping yet no one has reported to have bought one from them. what is the risk involved that people are still paying $740 from other places and no one seems to be taking advantage of new g-notes from ebay at cheaper prices?
I think its fear + ignorance which stops more people getting them from ebay. These things are made pretty close to Hong Kong, so its not suprising how cheap they are buying them from there through ebay. ebay used to be fairly shady too, and I think a lot of people still hold the fear of splashing $700 into a site which they may feel unsure about. However, as many of us know these days, ebay + paypal combined is an insanely safe shopping source. Not only is your sale fully ensured, but the amount of turnover most of these stores do, and the ability to access other shopper's comments does make it a really valuable source.
I'll be getting my note from ebay sometime next week (when the pay comes through), but have previously bought my SGS 1, and asus transformer from there, with NO problems, extremely quick shipping, and hundreds of dollars saved. I always recomend it
thanks for the vote of confidence. I am also thinking about getting my g-note next week through ebay.
Just read through the sellers past feedback. You should quickly see if the seller is reliable. Also read carefully through the description to see if it is new/used/damaged or if the title is wrong and they they are selling a 600$ notebook with a photo of a galaxy on it rather than a phone.
I got mine from eBay.
I bought mine from Ebay I paid 720 for it including shipping that was free. That's 2 Weeks ago prices were much higher.
It was a reputable seller and didn't have any issue the phone is running great
I went through 3 SGN's so far.. One from Amazon.de, One from Ebay.de and one from my Country which was the most expensive one but was worth the local warranty reassurance since I'm keeping this one. Received it today.
The second one from Ebay was a German model, no problems, sold it like I did with the first one from Amazon after I played around abit with it.
Anyway ALWAYS read the FEEDBACK! Even if it's a TOP Rated it means NOTHING! It might be a hacked account or a bad TopRated. Better safe than sorry.
Example: Someone is selling some SGN's in a very attractive price. Check the feedback if another person bought and received a Note from the Seller already. If the listing just came up then check it's feedback for some expensive stuff and not 2-3euros worth of items.
If the Seller has low feedback(<30-50) but it's 100% positive and every buyer is happy with him, then sent him a message first and see. He might be just a regular guy selling a Note.
Yes Ebay and Paypal did help me a couple times and they were very helpful, but Scammers will always be around.
Got mine on ebay for $760 about 3 weeks ago when they first came out. It arrived in a few days without any problem. It turn out to be a Polish model with a with a Polish provider branding.
Just rooted & loaded a custom ROM & now all OK.
I love this phone. Absolutely awesome screen.
Got mine from a Hong Kong ebayer with no problem.

I can answer my own question... NOT FROM SIMPLYELECTRONICS.NET
Why?
Trying to deal with them has been harder than performing brain surgery in the dark with one hand tied behind my back.
Ordered a white Note on January 25th. They needed extra identity verification (aka the documents they need to defraud me a month from now). I order from B&H all the time with orders exceeding $2,000 without having to verify my identity.
Fine, I played their game, January 28th rolls around and it can't ship till next week because they are backed up. I tell them forget it, to cancel it, and I will get it from someone else who can do business professionally.
Between January 28-30. I have FOUR comfirmation email cancelling my order from TWO diff reps and from the
[email protected]
email. Now today, February 2, I receive an email that my order has shipped and here is your tracking number...
Scammers folks. Terrible customer service. Been sitting on the phone for ONE HOUR trying to talk to someone live....no one will pick up. No one is returning my emails. I just filed for fraud on my credit card, I will refuse the package when it arrives, telling you guys here, and also prepping my attorney for anything.
SimplyElectronics.net is not professional, not prompt, sketchy, involved in fraud throughout Europe, and by far the worst company I've ever dealt with.
I pretty much agree with you.
I ordered an HTC Flyer last August. It took about two weeks before they sent it out. The tracking code was emailed two days after shipping the parcel. And then DHL decided to f*ck up the delivery - returning the parcel to UK. After a month and a dozen emails I finally got my money back.
On November I noticed that they were selling the Flyer very cheap - around 330€ for the 3G model (here in Finland it's 700€) so I decided to order it again. A few days after the payment I was asked for identification which I sent immediately. Two days after this I was informed that ALL of the 3G Flyers were "damaged" during delivery and couldn't be sold. That's bull****. Another few weeks of waiting and I got my money back.
And then the Note. It took a week to send it, even though the web page says it will be shipped in 1-2 days. Eventually got my Note but it's an HK model and there was no pre-filled warranty card included. So no chance of a possible warranty service here then.
Simplyelectronics appears to have little to none physical stock - all they do is hunt cheap items, ship them to the UK and off to customers. If they advertise a price and run into problems and are unable to purchase the item for a cheap price, they come up with an excuse like the damaged boxes with the Flyer. Different camera forums have also reported similar behaviour.
I won't be purchasing anything from Simplyelectronics anymore.
@justus... I just don't understand why you went back to the same company to do a business again after you experienced hick ups with them... But you dealt with them again buying a note from them ?? I JUST CAN'T SEE ANY VALID REASON AS TO WHY YOU KEPT WENT BACK TO THEM AND GO THROUGH THESE HASSLES YOU DESCRIBED... JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND... REALLY, YOU JUST HAVE TO BLAME YOURSELF FOR GOING BACK TO THAT UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY FOR A BUSINESS...
FOR ME, IF THAT HAPPENED TO ME.... THAT WILL BE END OF DEALING WITH THEM... THATS IT.... THERE ARE HEAPS OF OTHER RETAILERS OUT THERE SPECIALLY IN ENGLAND WHERE I PURCHASE MY GALAXY NOTE AND NOT ONLY AT GOOD PRICE BUT ONLY TOOK 4 DAYS TO SHIP TO AUSTRALIA....
YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH ONLY 4 DAYS IN SHIPPING TO AUSTRALIA FROM ENGLAND.. I MEAN DOMESTIC PARCEL TAKES AROUND 4 DAYS...

Because at that time they were one of the very few offering the white Note, and since they ship from UK I was able to avoid VAT.
I got mine from Expansys uk. I did have to verify my address but I haven't ordered from them before. Next day delivery though and I was very pleased.

Also ordered mine from eXpansys. Great support, friendly and quick staff. Also, even though online system told me estimated availability was 2-5 business days, I received my package overnight ... and we are talking international shipping!
I am in no way affiliated with eXpansys, nor do I receive monetary compensation for posting my experiences ;-) Just wanted to do a shout-out for awesome service.
Hi guys,
My friend living in the States bought a nexus 7 for me. I am in Singapore. What is the best way to ship it to me without heavy cost?
USPS won't ship the tablet as it has a battery. Any idea? Thanks.
FedEx... UPS...
Your shipping international i don't think it will ever be as cheap as it is to ship in the states or to Canada
Try DHL also
I would call UPS, Fedex, and DHL to get quotes. Or check their websites. Weight is 1.7 lbs, and just estimate dimensions at... 12x8x6 inches to get a ballpark. Not sure what the actual measurements for size are.
thanks
thanks. hopefully they don't mind shipping tablet which has a battery inside.
I will ask my friend to call them and ask for the quotations.
thanks a lot.
I have shipped 2 nexus 7 back to Singapore with USPS,some more my friends don't even change the initial packaging box from UPS. Shipment cost is not cheap either, advise you to remove the UPS box and repack with thinner box . Received my 2 parcels one from Dallas and the other from las Vegas.
Received them within 5 days

Any 1 managed to shipped it? Whats the price?
Could order and use a forward shipper like Borderlinx?
Doesn't Singapore Post (or whatever the post office there is called) offer some sort of forward freighting service as well with a US address?
I lived in Singapore and the Philippines for years. The absolute cheapest and best way is the APO/FPO/DPO route thru the USPS.
Do you know any US military or Embassy employees/contractors you trust? I always used the USPS office at Sembawang wharves.
EDIT: If USPS won't ship with the batteries, I wonder how hard it would be to remove. I know the back cover comes off super easy. Then you could pick some replacements up downtown. The battery restriction is an international mail carrier agreement.

Those who have ordered from the Google Store, how long did shipping take?
It was supposed to be 3-5 days for me, but it only took 2. It shipped from 7 hours away in Chicago. So, it depends where you live in relation to a distribution center.
Mine is still stuck on "Pending" shipment (Canada) been like that since they went on sale.
Anyone in Canada had shipping info yet??
I ordered on Sunday May 3rd and it shipped on Monday, so just one day.
Just spoken to someone at Google, seems like the orders placed in Canada via the play store will not ship until the 15th.....! And will then take about another 5 business days to arrive, so it looks like the end of May until I'll get mine
Not impressed with them opening up orders and taking a month to fulfill them with no order info on the orders besides "pending"
