the other thread wasn't much use to me since it doesn't list any official channels (there really isn't any). I got myself one in february though. Ordered one from Amazon US, the UK one doesn't carry it.
there are a few resellers on amazon US, i tried one that shipped internationally but when time came to pay (with a British credit card), i faced the message due to licensing restrictions the product can't be shipped internationally.
for some reason, i decided to try my luck again with another reseller, Blueproton on amazon US. this time it worked. their dispatch was ultra quick, though fedex did screw up a bit. long story short, you can try to buy from blueproton on amazon US. Cost in total was about £232 if i remember right, including 25 for shipping (i used expedited though).

Are there any UK resellers for the nook color? Any UK users with a nook color maybe who can advise me?
Looking at a 7" tablet/ereader as a gift, because I've left it (slightly) late I don't have time to wait for something to ship from the US
I've found one store (Purelygadgets.co.uk) but it's 1:1 £:$ and they've terrible reviews for customer service.
All advice appreciated!
I'm a little out of touch when it comes to imports, are there any importers for this type of thing?

other than purelygadgets, none that i know of other than occasional ebay.co.uk listings, usually from US sellers.
i used amazon.com (not co.uk), got it about two weeks back. there were about 8 sellers listed willing to ship to the UK. tried one first, when payment time came, got the message due to legal restrictions the item cannot be shipped to the UK.
almost gave up hope, then tried another, blueproton. and voila, it went through.
shipment was within a couple of hours. excellent work from their end. £221 in total, including Fedex postage. in all, 5 days, including weekend!
Can't post direct link as I don't have enough posts.
Use coupon code CBARNESDD for $50 off price.
Interesting; from B&N no less.

I doubt you can pay with gift cards though.
$219.54 with California Tax.
Got mine! Can't wait to play around with it. Paid $213.xx for FL delivery. Can't complain though.
You can get it to ship overseas if you use a guest ebay account and a mail forwarder
Ha, I'm visiting San Francisco and was thinking I'd pick up an NC. But with this deal it'd still be cheaper to have one shipped to WA state for subsequent pickup. I'm leaving too soon to have it sent here.

Came to post this, great deal, good job. Got mine.
Thanks for posting this, I've been thinking about getting on for a while now, this sealed the deal. Great community here!

You may be able to bring it back to the store and have them return and repurchase right away and pay with gift cards.
Just ordered mine! XDA is the best!

I picked one up too, figured for $200 bucks + tax I can justify one for playing around with.
What size and class SD card should I buy for ROM use?
Just bought one myself. Great deal. I went into the B&N store and the "Nook guy" wasn't able to honor the ebay deal but said he had heard about it this morning. So I turned around, went home and bought it online. $50 and I could have had it now. But I'm learning patience....
I was on the fence about buying the GTablet since it's hardware specs are better, but once I saw the Nook's screen it was a no-brainer. Plus the price.
Now to look through the root guide...if I can find it.
I went to a Best Buy in SF to try one out but the battery was dead and refused to charge. And the only B&N stores here are outside of the City. So I still have yet to play with the hardware. Leaving the USA on Wednesday.

Many have shared their good experience with Transcend 8GB Class 6 cards, I am using one myself. Froyo roms don't really play well with 16GB cards for now. If you search this section of XDA, there's a thread regarding other users' experience with different SD brands.
On a side note, if you are living overseas you can engage in a freight forward company to ship it to you. From where I am, I can share two links:
http://www.vpostasia.com - Ships from Portland (tax-free!) to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Australia and India. Charges are reasonable, plus if you have credit cards issued from certain partner banks, you get a discount up to 40%. Delivery is tracked.
http://www.comgateway.com - Ships from Portland too, and to various countries outside the US. Charges are higher, but that's because they use DHL.
*In no way am I affiliated with these companies. Just sharing on methods I use to obtain stuff from other countries, aside from the occasional returning friend.

Let me say this. The screen is absolutely gorgeous. You won't be disappointed. However, the stock software leaves something to be desired. Although, I say that only because I know the developers have been able to push this thing way beyond stock.

Thank you for the information! I'm in the US, so I'll probably stick with someone like Amazon ($18.99 USD for Transcend 8 GB microSDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS8GUSDHC6E).
Crap, great offer, just in time to receive the one I ordered last week at full price...
Murphy says it clearly, it doesn't matter how hard you shop for an item, you will allways find it cheaper somewhere else, after you bought it...
I'm looking to buy a Nook Color as a cheap CM tablet to experiment with app development/pdf reader for school, but getting a hold of one in Europe seems pretty difficult.
My only option so far seems to buy one on ebay and pay ~50% in import "penalties" etc.
At $300 it isn't in my price range any more, so do any of you have any good advice on the subject?
I'm in Denmark.
Try these guys -

be quick and you could get it for less than US$200 delivered -

I don't know if it available in europe yet but I would look at the Fire.
I have the same problem, living in Italy. Import duties on the last shipment were more than the cost of the items shipped from the US and shipping was almost as much. Fortunately I had to fly back for a wedding and brought a nook color back, with a lot of other things that can't be purchased here. Might as well get as much as I can for the price of the ticket.
For more urgent things I use Amazon.UK or Amazon.DE. Good exchange rate with the pound right now and buying from Germany is much cheaper than Italy anyday.
I ended up buying it on ebay.de for 249€ with free shipping (within the EU, so no taxes). Now I just need to unload my PS3 to pay for it
I bought one from US Eby and asked the seller to write down the value. Still had to pay import duties, but much less. Still a great price!
Be aware:
If you plan on keeping the B&N Nook funcitonality, it won't work so well in Europe since purchases need to be made in the US borders and with a US account.
If you plan on just flashing CM7 to the emmc, you'll be fine.

Lets just say I modded my ps2 before i even tried to turn it on
Heck, I was gonna suggest that I'd buy it and ship it to you as long as you could procure an N9 and ship it to me.
It's a shame when it's so difficult to get our hands on gadgets we like.
I have yet to see someone claim to have bought e-note from ebay? I see prices as low as $670 dollars (US) including shipping yet no one has reported to have bought one from them. what is the risk involved that people are still paying $740 from other places and no one seems to be taking advantage of new g-notes from ebay at cheaper prices?
I think its fear + ignorance which stops more people getting them from ebay. These things are made pretty close to Hong Kong, so its not suprising how cheap they are buying them from there through ebay. ebay used to be fairly shady too, and I think a lot of people still hold the fear of splashing $700 into a site which they may feel unsure about. However, as many of us know these days, ebay + paypal combined is an insanely safe shopping source. Not only is your sale fully ensured, but the amount of turnover most of these stores do, and the ability to access other shopper's comments does make it a really valuable source.
I'll be getting my note from ebay sometime next week (when the pay comes through), but have previously bought my SGS 1, and asus transformer from there, with NO problems, extremely quick shipping, and hundreds of dollars saved. I always recomend it
thanks for the vote of confidence. I am also thinking about getting my g-note next week through ebay.
Just read through the sellers past feedback. You should quickly see if the seller is reliable. Also read carefully through the description to see if it is new/used/damaged or if the title is wrong and they they are selling a 600$ notebook with a photo of a galaxy on it rather than a phone.
I got mine from eBay.
I bought mine from Ebay I paid 720 for it including shipping that was free. That's 2 Weeks ago prices were much higher.
It was a reputable seller and didn't have any issue the phone is running great
I went through 3 SGN's so far.. One from Amazon.de, One from Ebay.de and one from my Country which was the most expensive one but was worth the local warranty reassurance since I'm keeping this one. Received it today.
The second one from Ebay was a German model, no problems, sold it like I did with the first one from Amazon after I played around abit with it.
Anyway ALWAYS read the FEEDBACK! Even if it's a TOP Rated it means NOTHING! It might be a hacked account or a bad TopRated. Better safe than sorry.
Example: Someone is selling some SGN's in a very attractive price. Check the feedback if another person bought and received a Note from the Seller already. If the listing just came up then check it's feedback for some expensive stuff and not 2-3euros worth of items.
If the Seller has low feedback(<30-50) but it's 100% positive and every buyer is happy with him, then sent him a message first and see. He might be just a regular guy selling a Note.
Yes Ebay and Paypal did help me a couple times and they were very helpful, but Scammers will always be around.
Got mine on ebay for $760 about 3 weeks ago when they first came out. It arrived in a few days without any problem. It turn out to be a Polish model with a with a Polish provider branding.
Just rooted & loaded a custom ROM & now all OK.
I love this phone. Absolutely awesome screen.
Got mine from a Hong Kong ebayer with no problem.

Hi,
I ordered a Nexus 4 from Handtec on the release day. The amount was withdrawn from my credit card immediately.
A couple of days ago my order was cancelled and I got a refund. However due to conversion rates I lost 20 EUR.
This is not a big deal but the explanation from handtec was that it's nothing they can do about it.
1. They can deliver what I ordered. Do not take orders for products they can't deliver.
2. Do not withdraw the amount until the item has been shipped.
When I sent the above they answered by closing my support ticket. Disturbing!
I can live with this but it's a matter of principle. I will not order anything from Handtec again and I would recommend everyone to stay away from Handtec.
BR/Svanteson
That's the risk when buying in other currencies. The opposite happened to me, it's just the way money works.
The companies are only obligated to make the refund in the currency they operate with, and the amount they charged, so...

Currency trading FTW!
Bad Experience with Handtec
Shortly before Christmas 2012 I purchased a (alleged unlocked) Galaxy S3 from Handtec. This was the fourth phone I had purchased from them and until then having had no problems had no reason to contact them after purchase.
The phone was set up for Virgin Media Internet France (which took a factory re-boot to uninstall). The phone, from what Samsung, Virgin Media and others told me was that it was most likely that it had been previously installed with a Virgin SIM card – a French one at that! The phone had been set up in French, the instructions were in French and it had a continental plug. It is my opinion that it was purchased by Virgin to be sold as a locked phone through their French outlets (which went bust last week) and that job lots were sold off to wholesalers.
The person I spoke to at their call centre told me that I should have been told it was an import (definitely not told!!) and I should have looked on the web where it was displayed (I placed the order by phone). The manager was off hand and I was left with the definite impression that it was “We don’t really care about your problems”.
Would I recommend them? Before this I had done so but not anymore – my advice is to pay a little more and purchase it from a store where you can go back and see them face to face.
I had thought of reporting them to Trading Standards but, hopefully, it this makes someone think twice about buying from them then they will have lost not only my custom but others.
