well, you get stand for the phone
but, I'm not sure that it would work on Android 2.2 or higher..

not worth 25$
Cmon its really good if your not taking your notebook anywhere and you need to write some fukin long mail or something I thinks its really cool and good... 25$.. yeees its not so for everyone but for a business man its really gooooood
Yeah
But Bluetooth Headsets don't work in 2.2 or 2.3 ROMs so I wonder if this will be the same. It'd be good if it linked to the phones wifi.
This bluetooth keyboard doesn't work with Android 2.1, drivers on CD added with keyboard are for Android 1,6. With CM this keyboard will propably work.
I had this keyboard for a few week, but doesn't work with LG, iPod Touch and similar devices.
hmm, it seems interesting... Maybe I'll buy one.
Is there anyone who has used this or similar keyboard before?
Cant you use any bluetooth keyboard?

I bought this:
http://www.miniinthebox.com/ultra-s...2-0-rechargeable-keyboard-silver_p211557.html
With 2.3.5 CM7 rom you got to have BlueInput software to use it.
With 2.2.1 Utopia that I have now you can pair it directly from the settings>....Bluetooth menu.
It's an HID device (the keyboard) and all such keyboards need HID support from the phone's ROM.
Why I bought this?
I've got one laptop and one netbook.
I never carry a laptop with me. I use it instead of a desktop.
I may carry the netbook and may not carry it when away from home.
When I'm at home and want to lay on the sofa, usually the netbook is occupied by the kids (+ it is heated pretty much).
So I prefer to use my phone for some surfing around the forums etc.
So bought this and is very very practical, although it does not fold.
If you want to buy a keyboard with a brand name eg Freedom Pro (which is foldable) with ssp protocol, there's KEYPRO app to do the pairing and key mapping if I remember well.
This was my first aim, but finally I tried a much cheapier solution.
Sorry for the bump, i searched for over 3 months for a good bt keyboard but all of them cost 30 usd + shipping, so, it's not worth it
but it's big! it isn't portable! right?
I've spoken with mike gapinski (dev of ICS for GT540) and he said, that in ICS there are drivers for pad from xbox, ps3 and apple wirelesss keyboard
I'm using this keyboard when i play ps games on FPse. This device removes problem with multitouch. Keyboard works on SwiftDroid, PCF's CM7, Mike's ICS and I think on most of 2.2+ ROMS. Battery leasts for 48h, so when phone is charging you could play long hours. I bought it for 15 $.
Looks funny but why spend that amount of money for something that will probably be useless to you?
it's not useless - as I said - i play on this device PS games. Without this keyboard you can't use two or even three different keys in games. I think, taht in games it's very helpful.
Looks interesting but If you have access to a wlan sending sms with airdroid is ok.. and cheaper..

Hey, I've been thinking about buying a bluetooth mouse for my laptop now for a while, i've decided to probably get the Microsoft 5000 mouse since it has all the functions I need, the place i'm buying it from has the price 25% off for a week now and microsoft has this campaign where you get 100 swedish kronor back for a bought Microsoft product.. so that's yet another 25%, anyway, my question is;
Will that mouse work with Windows Mobile/ Xperia X1? I thought it would be cool trying a mouse out on Xperia, since i've heard it's easily done thru bluetooth.
Thanks in advance =)
It will work, but only with a 3rd party program, as far as I know.
I use Teksoft BlueInput. Make sure you read their forum, as some mouses are a bit hard to get working properly.
I have two low cost mouses, and no problem at all.
Alright, thank you =)
A bit pricey though...
Now only if there would be Wiimote support for WM...
Sorry for the late reply.
Regarding BlueInput, you can allways download the trial version. The only limitation is that you get 30 clcks on button mouse, and then it disconnects, you must re-connect to get 30 more clicks, and so on.
Alright, but i've already ordered it and recieved it today, been trying it out at my laptop and at Xperia with blueinput (i.. got ahold of a full copy... >_>)
It works alright except that it's a tad too small... and at the xperia the mouse flickers a bit too much and gets some ghosting, but that's alright since im mostly gonna use it for my laptop, but it'd be nice with a updated version of blueinput though with some fixes =)
Well, as the guy who had the original idea for that program, I'm lucky enough to get some inside info...
All I can say is that development continues.
Huh.. cool =D
With the flickering/ghosting issue gone it's gonna feel like a real proper mouse pointer and even worth the money, though it uses quite alot of CPU power which is the final thing stopping it from being 100% awesome, anyway a huge thanks to the Teksoft developers for making this possible!
Altough it does flicker and get ghost images (not only on Xperia X1, but all devices), I wonder what you mean by "get ahold of a full copy"... As far as I know, no un-official version works as good (or not so bad) as the legal licensed one, flicker-wise.
Yeah, well i wanted to try out the product before buying it so yeah..
I didn't know how limited or not the trial version was so i wanted the whole experience before making a decision.
OK, granted I don't know much but maybe this thread can group peoples Ideas on a suitable controller for the captivate.
I know the WII Controller app currently doesn't work for us, but we do see that the controller hardware does offer the opportunity to pair with the phone over bluetooth.
I guess the first step is to successfully get the pairing, is this possible somehow? would a successful password hack make it happen?
I guess second would be to have it recognize buttons in a keyboard fashion to work with most emulators.
I know the developer of the existing wii controller app has said we probably get his app working, and I don't blame hime for not trying to get every phone to work, but i feel there is enough talent here to maybe get our own solution?
Or, if anyone actually has a better solution to the hope for an external controller, please help us all!
Wait the WII app does not work for us? I was about to hit BB :-(
Unfortunately the test app didn't work for me, and the developer has the captivate on the list of phones that currently are not compatible and most likely will not be compatible in the future with his software.
Ouch :-(
Not good news but better than me buying the wiimote for nothing.
I am assume is a matter of time before someone comes up with one anyway
Has anybody tried pairing a Playstation 3 controller with the phone? PS3 + HDMI via USB cable would make a great portable gaming console for when out of town at family, etc.
I'd definately contribute cash towards getting a working driver if needed.
EDIT: Also, MSI has a bluetooth gamepad that works with the phone. Google MSI BGP100. My biggest complaint/concern is that the controller doesn't seem to be designed to accommodate a phone in landscape mode, so that's a bit of a drawn back for playing games on the go (as opposed to hooking it up to a TV or monitor, where it wouldn't be an issue).
I actually emailed the dev about future compatibility for our phones, he said it's samsungs proprietary bluetooth drivers that are incompatible with the wiimote.
If we were to flash a vanilla android rom or something, it would work just fine.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
EDIT:
"Hello,
thank you for your question.
You're right about the frequency of these kind of requests. Newer Samsung phones unfortunately use proprietary bluetooth stacks (developed by Samsung) instead of the default that is in Android, named Bluez. That proprietary stack doesn't support the type of connection that wiimotes need to connect.
So, the only way currently for you to have this app working is if you get rid of that bluetooth stack. If you want to, you can root and flash your phone with a custom ROM. "Vanilla" ROMs have had success with other non-compatible phones in the past. Vanilla just means a type of ROM that is made from code that originates directly from Google, not from Samsung. One known creator of good quality vanilla ROM is cyanogen from xda-developers.com, but I don't believe his ROMs can run on the Galaxy (yet).
A friendly word of caution: rooting and flashing probably voids your phone's warranty and you also loose all the data (like contacts, app settings, etc) so MAKE BACKUPS before doing anything.
Best regards,
Piki"

So has anybody confirmed if this works or not with the Captivate?
I'm thinking since the wiimote wont work via bluetooth, no bluetooth gamepad will work.
Has anyone ever tried interfacing a standard controller through the microUSB port? Or custom building such a device?

It depends on the drivers otherwise no bluetooth device will be able to connect...at least that is how I see it.
no that the psx emulator is out and resedent evil 3 works perfectly, i would like to see some kind of gamepad, sucks theres no way to use a controller.. , is there even anyone working on getting this done???
Just wondering if any updates have been made on any controllers working on the captivate? Still no WiiMote connectivity, havent tried to connect anything through the micro usb. If anybody knows of a way to control emulators for the Samsung Captivate, Let us all know!

vibrant roms work with a few known and easily fixed issues with button logic. there may be other issues i cant remember but it is doable. as long as the vibrant is getting attention it should be enough.
Actually, hold your breath...
The Cog Rom has been using the original bluez stack protocol needed, and I am hopeful of compatibility soon...
Nothing seems to work still yet for the wii controller apps yet, but I haven't tried again in the last couple versions.
At least it seems we are headed in the right direction!

Wouldn't be too sure about that since he removed bluez after version 5 saying it caused more trouble than it was worth. It would seem the only hope we have now is for gdanko's aosp froyo. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=815420&page=18
Indeed it seems aosp is a gamer's only hope for our beloved captivate... we need the non samsung proprietary Bluetooth stack.

hey guys.
i`d like to ask if thereĀ“s an app that allows to use your android phone as gamepad for windows. just like nebudroid, but with multitouch.
some suggestions?
Although personally I cant find anything that allows you to do that, if you just want to use your phone to play emulators on windows or other things, then try using RemoteDroid, but its really only that useful if your phone has a physical keyboard. Its incredibly easy to set-up, took me 3 minutes.
i know android can pretty much do anything, but IMO there are just some things it shouldn't. wired xbox 360 controller will make you at least 5^14x happier.
Well... a "wired xbox 360 controller" might "make you at least 5^14x happier." but I don't feel like carrying that around all the time whereas carrying a phone around is already a necessary evil

agamepad ??
you should try to check at http://code.google.com/p/agamepad/
i found it on amazon and i think it would be perfect for the nook as a keyboard and im sure you can use the touchpad for games! i just ordered one.. ill post about it when i get it..

That looks pretty sweet. I like how it lights up, too.
Nice! Let us know if it works! Might get one too!

I had one of these; I used it to control my media center PC. It's decent but the touchpad is not that great, it lacked responsiveness.
i got the KB today and it works great! i was thrilled with how good it works and get this.. when you touch the touchpad a mouse cursor pops up and moves around the screen! you can click links, copy/paste and im sure more but i havent tested it fully yet. wonderful purchase i would buy it again. 9 out of 10 thumbs up.
edit: the usb dongle it comes with fits inside the KB, how neat is that? ive tested the touchpad even more and you can use it for anything you can use your finger for! open home, open apps, open menus and select items, use it in certian games, i just used it to surf the web and it saved me alot of time clicking on links and opening/closing tabs.. i change my vote to 10 out of 10 thumbs up cuz i was told android doesnt have a mouse feature and this blows me away! oh and its not unresponsive like that one guy said.
edit edit: if you unplug the nooks usb cable from the charging dock and plug in the mini keyboards usb charger it will charge the keyboard! its the same wattage! 5 volts - 300 ma. no need to plug it into a pc to charge it.
Thanks for your review this looks interesting.
About to order this. Looks really sweet. I was wondering if you can map the keys on the keyboard to android home, menu, and back. if so then it would be completely sweet! Also how is it on reconnecting? Pretty quick? I am reading that you need to install an apk to have it work in android. I assume this is not the case when using cm7. Also what range are you getting?
that would be sweet to be able to remap. no you donot need an apk on cm7 and it reconnects pretty quick.

I guess you cannot use home menu and back on the keyboard anywhere? That takes the usability down a bit, especially with it having a mouse. What about range? How is it? Given the crap shoot of range with the nc this is an important bit of info.

the range is 4 feet (maybe a little more) before it gets buggy and starts skippin letters. as for the size, it is 2/5ths of an inch thick and slightly over 6 inchs long.. if you compaire it to a king sized hersheybar it is almost exactly the same size.
i went thru the packaging and found a mini cd and it includes an apk that makes use much better.. well i should say, it makes the letters show up alot smoother.
edit: i found the manufacterers webpage and a much newer version of the driver, its updated for tablets.. http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=blueinputandroid&tab=download

WoW thats just what I need.
Anyone try the 2nd generation version of the keyboard or the one with the trackball?
So I actually decided to hold off on ordering this until I see more feedback. Is this keyboard actually large enough to support touch typing, or is it more like typing on a physical keyboard on a smartphone? I had a Treo 650 and, while it was better than the soft keyboards on the iPhone and Nook Color, still wasn't very good for taking notes during meetings or conferences, composing lengthy emails, etc. If I'm going to spend $30-50 (or more) on a keyboard for my tablet, I want it to be something that basically allows me to touch type at (close to) normal speed. Otherwise I know I'd never really use it...
Thoughts?
hey there
is there a way to remote control my razr i with my old milestone 2?
Would be great to have my razr in the pocket, listening to songs, while typing mails, events and notes on the faboulous hardkeys of the milestone 2 without installing another SIM.
I prefer the hardkeys very much to onscreen keys, but they've gone off the market I guess....

Interesting idea, but it's kind of funny... Controlling one phone with another one - makes one of them pointless then, doesn't it?
But I sure wish some manufacturer (preferrably Moto) came back to the hardware keyboard concept and improved upon it. I had the Milestone for a couple of months and having an actual hardware keyboard ROCKS. Especially if your main language of typing has many cases and is highly inflectional, as Serbian (Serbo-Croatian) is...
Should we write to Motorola? Start a petition?

There were rumours about a new Droid/Milestone last year, but that was it... Nobody from Motorola ever mentioned they will be working on a new qwerty hw keyboard phone.
I've looked into the matter more deeply a couple of months ago and I found many tech bloggers talking about their wishes for a new high-spec'ed qwerty phone, but most seemed to agree that it probably will not happen, since it just became an obsolete idea...somehow. Not sure how at all, since there are MANY of us who want it and yet none of the manufacturers give any attention to it.
If Moto get to it and made a new well-designed and great-spec'ed phone with a slide out keyboard, that would be my next phone 100%. Maybe we should start an online petition to let them know what we think. Anyone interested to attend to it?
Because I really think it's unlikely that they will be announcing a new qwerty phone together with the new Droid line-up this year....
P.S. Edited my previous post to make it more neighbourhood friendly. I may be young (22) but I still find it to be the same language, only two different dialects. But let's not go into any (anti-)nationalism talk...

Yeah, that's more or less what I mean. But more like Airdroid for another droid, with a mirrored screen.
I couldn't use the mile2 for everyday business anymore cause it's too slow (though it works fairly good with the miui rom) , but I thought it might be sufficient just as a remote & mirror function.
A bluetooth keyboard would mean I'd need two devices on the table. My idea was more to use the benefits of the hardkeys when on my way somewhere and leave the razr in the pocket when typing.
Btw. I'm desperately seeking for a reason to still use my miley2 I just can't let go of it....
Probably I'll stick to Motorola forever for some reason I don't really know....

Care to start it, then? Or perhaps we should get someone from the US to start the petition? Motorola is still a US based company, as far as I know... And their two current strongholds are the States and India, if I'm not mistaken. I'm just saying that I'm not sure how much they care for the European market at the moment.
One more thing off topic - is that Gingerbread MIUI you're talking about? Because any post Gingerbread MIUI rom sucked the life out of my Defy, which has the same hw as the M2... Anyway, if you haven't checked out CM11 on the M2 already, maybe you should give it a shot, it worked very good on the Defy.
