So whenever I use any service that uses GPS (Weather Channel, Facebook, Bing Maps, etc.) it initially thinks I am in a town 36 miles from where I am, very near an apartment I used to live in in that town. This is not a big deal in Maps as it quickly corrects its self, but in Facebook or Weather Channel they just take the initial location, so when I go to check in I am shown business near the wrong location and I recieve weather info for the wrong location. Is there a way to fix this? Is it just a defective unit?

I've been playing with TomTom 6 on my phone (not the newest version) and I came accross an annoying issue.
When I go to look up a destination from my contacts, the interface is horribly horribly slow. I time in the first letter of a contact and it takes 3 seconds before it lets me enter the next letter.
Also, it seems no combination of puttng address information into my contacts satisfies TomTom. It just does a horrible job of understanding pretty straight forward addresses in my contacts, and half the time prompts me to re-enter the contact address because it can't figure it out. This is not an issue at all with google maps for example.
Anyone can tell me how to format these address correctly in the contact list to get TomTom to understand them? Anyone know why it's so damn slow to use a contact as a destination?
I'm also curious what other software might be comparable to tom tom, but perhaps has a better ability to integrate with contacts, maybe even understand addresses better.

I need something to explain to me why everyone likes this program? I guess I dont understand it enough to know exactly what it is or why the facination. Isnt it simply a search engine and if so isnt google better? I suppose this is a lame question but for the last year or so I have been hearing people talk about live as if its the next best thing to sliced bread. So whats the scoop?
Do you mean Live Search, the alternative to Google. Or do you mean Windows Live, found at get.live.com, the family of Web Services that microsoft has/is developing of which Live Search is one such service.
Web Search and GPS Mapping
Breaking it down a little more, you probably mean Live Search Mobile which is a mobile app that inlcludes a today screen search box (to search Live Search) and a GPS Map Service. I believe this can be found at m.live.com from your phones browser. This is great if you don't have TomTom or other Sat Nav software. Its free!
Contacts, Email and IM
Then there is the killer app the Windows Live mobil app which synchronises your contacts and Windows Live Hotmail with your Kaiser, and adds Windows Live Messenger to it. For a Hotmail and WLMessenger user this is simply perfect. Download from this thread "Collection of the Latest Cabs for kaisers [updated 19.11.07] ".
Yeah.
I like some of W Live on my phone. But it doesn't integrate w/ pocket Outlook the way Google does: <MENU>, "Locate in Google Maps"
And, I think that having to pick a location via <State>, <City> is a little arduous. I like just typing "Italian" and "Providence" in Google when I want to eat meatballs and pasta.
But WinLive has the great Movies tab....
It does too. just not as cleanly as google maps. if you go to location settings or directions, it allows choose from contacts. you just can't do it from the contacts screen.
Correct Live Search does allow you to find addresses from you contacts. Also I find that when I enter an address Google Mags is usually off by several houses (mine: one house, a client: 3 houses), where Live Search is usually spot on. Google Maps is better with traffic as Live Search dosen't show my area.
Windows Live Clarification
So just to try and clear up the branding mess that is Windows Live.
Windows Live Mobile Portal
Access WL features via PIE or other mobile web browser. Includes link to mobile web version of Hotmail, Messenger, Spaces, MSN, Search and more.
http://mobile.live.com
Windows Live Mobile Search (Google Search competitor)
As stated above. Simply the mobile web version of the Live.com search engine.
http://m.live.com
Windows Live
Application for Windows Mobile that allows for Hotmail/Live Mail Contact and Email syncing. Includes a Live Messenger chat client and two Today plugins (one which launches Windows Live Mobile Search in PIE)
You can download various builds of the app from this thread.
Live Search
A great Mapping and Local search program for Windows Mobile and Blackberry (Competes with Google Maps program)
Download it from http://wls.live.com
Hope that helps anyone confused with the insane naming scheme MS came up with.
I'll add that Live search with the Kaiser's GPS is very good, center on your location find a location and then it will draw a route on-screen and give turn-by-turn directions on a moving hybrid satellite map with chimes at turn points with text instructions. It doesn't have "heading up" but it's very impressive. I believe Google maps will do something similar, I keep both on-board.
Is there a way to get live search on the today screen? I have installed it but does not show up in the options to display.
Tonight / this morning is daylight savings time for me [Nova Scotia] and my phone is acting weird. It didn't move the time automatically [even after reset]. I had to move it myself. However, now in Atlantic Standard Time, my phone is reading every event in my calendar an hour off [earlier]... Google calendar is accurate in its web version on my laptop.
In order to have an accurate calendar on my phone, I had to choose a different time zone and manually set the time.
Anyone else have this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Same I am in NS just go into the settings and change the time to the correct, my calender still shows the same times so it is good, just the clock needs to be updated manually.
Nas
I changed the time automatically, but all my events are still off [1hr early] in Atlantic Standard Time. Still accurate on Google.
Talked in person to another user. We both neded to set time manually and calendars are off. My phone is now set to Greenland time to have the calendar times accurate . Help?
just noticed my calender is missed up too, i guess it is Greenland for me lol
Any further thoughts on what's wrong with our phones / calendar sync?
Hi, I am experiencing a really strange issue with location, On my phone in Google Now the weather displays 'Current location' instead of the city name, I initially thought this was an issue with location reporting on the device itself but I tried searching for the current weather in Chrome on the desktop it displays part of my post code but no city name. If I switch to another google account all is fine on Chrome and it displays my current location correctly which includes displaying the city name when searching for weather.
Another quirk, If I select to temporarily hide private results in Chrome on the desktop it will display my location (including city name) but if I disable private results it again won't display the city. No matter the option it won't work on the phone at all. displaying the page in desktop mode and selecting to hide private results doesn't change it at all.
After recently purchasing a couple of Google Home Minis I have realised that Google seem incapable of bringing their departments together to make the gadget work properly with Google Calendars. Its so embaressing as the Amazon Echo actually works better with Google Calendars .. go figure!! If anyone can offer third party integration suggestions I would be really grateful.
First thing I noticed was that if I asked for my appointments for today, tomorrow, January etc it completely ignores my all day events .... I'm in the UK and I found a workaround for this by setting the language in the Google Home app to English (United States), apparently the U.S.A get new software versions earlier, indeed after this tweak in settings the Google Assistant recognises and reads out all day events.
The above regional fix however does not offer a solution for adding an all day event. The Google assistant does not recognise ' hey google add a new all day event' it still insists on asking for a time and if you say 'all day' for the time, it does not accept - anyone have a workaround or solution for this?
One other very annoying ommission is lack of integration with Google Keep. If I access my calendar via web browser, Googe Keep is tightly integrated for lists and nots, yet the Google Home team who seem to lacking a single iota of common sense have completley ommitted the option to use Google Keep for notes, lists and shopping list. - can anyone offer a solution or workaround?
The last and equally as annoying is if I say for example 'hey google what are my appointments for January' the reply is something like 'you have 8 appointments in January, here are your first 3' - who at Google in their infinite wisdom decided that everyone on the planet will only need to hear their next 3 appointments? Actually beginning to think that the people driving Google Home do NOT have an single grain of common sense between them. - Anyone have a solution or work around?
There are some other gripes like when adding an apointment using voice I don't have the option of adding a location, which is very important quite often I find....
Apologies for long-winded post wanted to put it all out there in case anyone would like to share solutions, altertive solutions to Google Calendar or thoughts....
I second all you've said. No integration with G Suite calendars either. Had to return mine.
