Dear all,
Wanted to find out any one encounter problem after OS flashing. My ndrive stop function after the 3rd flashing. After buy this copy and in less than a month, because of flashing i done, my license copy of ndrive 10 is gone.
Any one has similar problem.
Did you install ndrive from market and buy maps thru ndrive?
You just have to install it from market, go to ndrive store and reinstall maps. You don't need to pay for it again.

Hi All
My otherwise brilliant experience so far with the Hero is being hampered by buying CoPilot from Android Market.
I can download and install free apps without problem, Everything in Google Checkout says all is OK with the copilot transaction, But I cannot install Copilot, Authorizing Credit Card is all I get.
I contacted ALK but it's taken them 3 days to get back, I tried ringing them with no answer.
Anyone have any ideas at all?.
Cheers.

Have you actually managed to get the app installed on your phone yet? If not, I would suggest that you persist with contacting ALK support - they should get back to you.
If you have got the app installed, all you need is the map(s) you purchased.
I found this bit was the problematic bit as I couldnt get Europe to install on my phone. It downloaded but kept hanging whilst unpacking the map
On the PC, Copilot central seemed to think I hadnt paid for the Europe maps.
It turned out that I had, I just didnt know that your phone has to be connected and mounted to be able to download them!
In the end I emailed ALK support who sent me the following:
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support. It may be your maps are corrupted. What I would suggest is to
1) Uninstall CoPilot in SETTINGS | APPLICATIONS | COPILOT.
2) Connect your device to your PC over USB
3) Delete the CoPilot folder
4) Now unplug your device from the PC
5) Download CoPilot from the Market Place again (you will not be charged for this)
6) Then follow the Central instructions below to download maps again
Download Central 2.0
1) Please download Central from http://www.copilotlive.com/central
Getting the device Connected
1) Launch Central 2.0
2) Log in with your CoPilot Live ID (this is required in order to download maps or purchase upgrades)
3) Connect your android device to your PC through a USB cable
4) On the device, drag the top bar down to the bottom of the screen and tap on USB connected
5) Select "Mount"
6) You will see in Central at the top left of the screen your Device model (for android devices we just show "Android Device") and CoPilot 8 version number.
Downloading Maps
1) Select Download maps - this is an icon in the center of the welcome screen (currently only for android customers) or go to CoPiltot store and select Maps.
2) Select the region to download. You can only download maps for the region you previously selected on your device. These regions will be shown in blue in Central. For all other regions that you have not purchased, the text will appear in black signifying you need to purchase these.
3) Once you click on download, the data will be transferred to your PC, unpacked and sent to the storage card on the device. Please remember to keep the device connected at all times.
It is worth it in the end. Copilot is great and runs suberbly on the Hero.
Cheers

This unfortunately is the big problem, It is stuck at authorising credit card (and still is).
It's just as well I don't need this in a hurry.
Thanks for your help, If/when I ever get CoPilot installed it will be very useful for getting the maps.
Cheers.
As if by magic, It has decided to work this afternoon.
Brilliant, Problem solved.
Hy there I need some help.
I have a Unlocked, rooted, lag fixed, samsung captivate.
My google maps is the one that came installed on the phone(4.3) and I need to update it to the 4.6 version. The thing is that I can`t find the app on the market even using the QR code.
The same happens with shazam encore.
Plese help me, is there another way to update the app?
Please helppppppppp
Need more details. Which Rom are you running?
Just an FYI- A LOT of people (myself included) have had serious problems with the 4.6 update for google maps. Its causing reboots and fc's upon launch. It fc's on my captivate every time I open it. Running Cogv.2.3.b2.
Why you can't find it in the market, I have no idea, (it's showing up for me) but you might just wanna wait till google sorts this out and releases 4.7.
I am planning to go on holiday soon and after a good few hours googling I found that Android STILL has no GPS solution!! (amazing as its the biggest mobile OS at the moment and its been around a good few years...)
Just want to make sure Im not missing something here, because if there is navigation software for android I have missed and someone knows about please let me know!!
Google Maps is completely useless as I will be out the country and data will cost an arm and a leg. I am not going to "Cache within 10 miles" an entire country either. Cant imagine whose good idea it was to have internet-dependant GPS.
I seen some other software out there (copilot, etc) but seem of low quality (which I dont mind!) but are limiting in which countries they support, I haven't seen any with Chinese maps...
I used to have an N95 with Ovi Maps which was awesome! I assumed as its old-technology now Android would have something similar.
Alternatively, if anyone here has brought a Nokia recently and are not happy with it and fancy swapping it for my o2x let me know (sorry but Android is a pile I mean SMS doesnt even show the right time stamps lol)
Sorry if its a bit of a rant. I just got a 24 month contract with a phone that basically allows me to browse facebook whilst taking a dump in hi-res but not much else. My own fault for not looking into android first though...
Seriously, if anyone knows any software that can do the job, please let me know!
Try Navigon. I used it on my iPhone and I loved it.

I used Navit (totally free) this summer. You can download offline maps directly from the app, or best from Navit website, you can find tutorials on the net (the advantage of this method is that you can select specific areas of interest if you don't need the whole country map).
Maps are Openstreet maps. I think you can import other formats but I didn't try.
Maps are updated once a week, on Friday I think.
navigon works great and uses offline maps (you can download the maps on pc or on phone thru wifi or datanetwork)
Igo excellent, way better then johnjohn uhrm tomtom
i´m using navigon europe, works fine !
no mobile data connection needed, maps (whole europe) get downloaded to sd card.
so you can use in different countries without costs ...
I have tried ndrive and works well. Downloaded maps for my country so didnt need to use data connection

sofar ive tried the google maps, sygic, navigon, and igo and i found that sygic was the best for me. they all offer pretty much the same thing except google since its not offline but sygic had the newest maps.
Unlock your phone and buy a prepaid SIM card, that way you'll be able to use Google maps as well as all the niceties hat you're used to while traveling.
iGo is the best I've ever seen. You can download the maps to the SD, so data won't be a problem.
Sygic makes a lot of mistakes during navigation:
-Wanted to make me turn in a oneway street
-Tells me to turn right on a strait road without any streets right or left.
For me still google maps till Tomtom will be available.
cheers everyone, appreciate all the suggestions. will be checking them out see which one does the job
theres a lot more available than I thought! so cheers!
I also flashed Cyanogenmod, much much more happier with Android in general now
Consider waze, free, community based gps

Look out Navit or it's better fork ZANavi. It uses openstreet maps, offline, free. Not as sexy as paid solutions but works good.
You can download maps from the app, or use this to select a custom area: http://maps5.navit-project.org/
I was wondering if there is an offline gps software available for the htc one. By offline I mean a software that does not need any data connection/wifi what so ever to function. Just utilizing the gps built into the one. This will be mainly used for walking and locating places but it would be helpful if there are driving directions as well. What do you guys use?
yes, its called Google Maps
https://support.google.com/gmm/answer/2650377?hl=en
Copilot, Sygic, I use Garmin
I use, (ordered by preference):
1. Sygic
2. NDrive
3. Tomtom
4. Navigon
5. Copilot
There are a few navigation apps that can be used off line. They are very large in size but will do what you need.

I think you can now download your route from Google maps now and use with navigation and offline
Hi,
maybe someone knows remedy. I use MI 11 with Stock Rom MIUI Global 12.0.9(RKBEUXM).
I use Sygic as my navigation app. Unfortunately no maps can be downloaded. The map downloads are always only in a queue. However, I suspect that it is due to the MIUI download app. The download jobs are queued there, but only have the status 'Waiting for connection', 'Waiting for new attempt' or 'Download failed'. If I copy the link from the downloads and paste it into Chrome, the files are loaded immediately, although it is of no use to me because Sygic then expects them elsewhere. This worked without any problems with all previous cell phones of Xiaomi.
Do you know of a remedy or adjustment screws for checking?
Best regards
Dirk
I'm in the same ROM and maps' download from inside the app work ok. I'm not sure at all about ur alternative approach of downloading sygic maps, sounds like 'unofficial'
What do you mean by 'unofficial'. Sygic was bought and used for several years. I only tested the links from the download app in chrome explorer. I tried factory reset today with same result no maps are downloaded. Download app is version 21.01.26.20. I have no idea what else i can do or check.
Update on 6pm:
Now I found solution myself. I registered as a beta tester for Sygic on my previous MI8 to test android car. Now i have uninstalled the beta version, installed the normal one and everything works perfectly. Maps are downloaded without download app.
Thank you for your attention
Best regards
Dirk
