Sort People By Company - HD7 General

Unlike WM6 and prior, how do you view or sort your contacts / people by Company instead of peoples' names?
I got my HD7 today and don't like it. I'll continue to try a few more days, but I'm sure I'll go back to my HD2.

WM5 on S720?

Now Telus tells me the S720 can be flashed "down" to WM5 and it will then have MMS support.
So... any clues on how to do this? Or more to the point, where to obtain WM5 for it??
You dont have MMS on your device?!
Um, no... I have another thread on this topic already. The S720 is loaded with WM6, which doesn't have MMS support. Some providers apparently load Arcsoft MMS Composer to provide this capability; mine (Telus) has chosen not to.
From everything I've garnered so far, WM5 has the capability built-in, and a Telus tech has informed us that the S720 CAN be flashed to WM5 to get the MMS support.

The S730 has MMS support. I'm not sure what the S720 is?
Well, the closest cousin to it I could find, going by the pictures with the forums. You don't appear to have a forum specific to this phone... I don't know what "cute" name, if any, it's been given.

Yes it seems to be a HTC phone just for TELUS in Canada. Seems to be a variation of the S730. Uses the MSM7500 instead of the MSM7200
MMS is there on the S730 and wm6 so i dont really know why you havnt got it. Very strange
Since years, HTC is using Arcsoft MMS on their devices. the s720 is also HTC-Made.
Unfortunately microsoft still hasnt integrated an own MMS client :-(
But it's the first time since years that I've heard of a HTC-made phone without the Arcsoft MMS client...
Apparently Telus doesn't think anyone needs this feature anymore - their story was that NO PDA-style phones have this support because they can send pictures though email instead - no consideration for sending pictures to others who DON'T have email capabilities. "Oh, but everyone will have PDA phones within a year" according to one rep... doesn't help much RIGHT NOW, does it, ****er? He also informed us that NO PDA phones have EVER been able to send MMS messages... really? My Treo 650 from your competitor does it just fine.
Anyway, this is some very interesting information that I can use with Telus... we're pretty miffed about all this - well, my wife is, because before they sold us on our new contracts and these new phones, she was happily sending picture messages to her cousin from her RAZR (which our store agent was amazed to hear, she didn't think that was possible either), and now she's ready to ditch the whole thing to go back to her RAZR. I mean, she loves the phone, the little keyboard, the surfing and email and IM and everything, but...

Maybe get the mms software from the Verizon version of the phone? Or install WM6.1?
The S720 is for Canada and Qwest communications in the central / northern US, the Verizon version is the SMT 5800 and has a different outer casing, dont think the hardware changed other than to work on their set up.
I wouldnt want to downgrade os's, dont know if it would happen but some hardware might not function properly without the drivers from the latest version that was installed on the phone. Is there a third party app that will allow you to do what you need? Weird that they would disable that feature, wouldnt it be built into windows and disabled somehow?

phone guard software

hi peoples,
I've pre-ordered for a touch Pro (I know I may be waiting sometime but that's ok) and at the moment I've got a Nokia N95, a replacement for the orbit I used to have.
one thing I always do before I change phones is work out what apps I have on my current phone and hunt down the same apps for my new one.
In this case, one of the most important ones for me is something called phoneguard.
This app installs in the phones memory and is designed to protect your phone in the event of it being stolen.
You can send a text to your phone and it will lock the phone and/or sound an alarm (the alarm is helpful if you think it's in the local vacinity), and being in the phones memory it locks the phone as soon as it's turned on and before the "new" owner gets a chance to do anything with the phone..not a lot of good if the sim changes and you can't then send a text you're thinking...BUT...if the SIM is changed, the application automatically sends a text to a number of your choice giving you the new number, the IMEI etc..so you can immediately respond and lock the phone.
Let me just say it's wicked!!....but I would now like to find something similar for WM based device, anyone know of such an app?
ultimate theft alert is what you need!
sounds like just the thing. Thanks

Help Required - Age of Handset

Hi All,
Sorry in advance if this question has been asked before. I have recently (last night), got a diamond as an upgrade from a store. However when I got the handset home and opened the box, I found that it has already been used (finger prints all over than handset, sim card already inserted, headset missing etc...). I'm assuming its the stores demo handset.
Is there anyway of telling how old the handset is or how long it has been used for? I haven't turned the handset on as yet, so I don't know what sort of data will be on it (if any).
I'm concerned that when I take it back they will say its just me thats used the handset and kept the headset (!!!), So i'd like to have some ammo to show the handset is older than 1 day.
Even if you had got a brand new unopened one though it would still be older than one day, it's not like the handsets only spring into existence when you open the box.
OK, but there must be some sort of usage timer, I know older non smart phone handsets used to have this feature. Just need pointing in the direction of where it is on this one.
yes there is
in setting someware will tell you how long the phone is used and what calls it has made...length of time
hope this helps
start>settings>system>device info. call duration tab.
same as on all htc devices.
these call timers also cannot be erased by a hard reset or a rom update, so if there's anything on there over what you've done, then you've got a demo or a refurb unit.
Kinda silly of them to leave it in that state though!!

Anyone in the UK remember the Philips Diga & C12 and their mods?

Little reminiscing...
Back in what must have been the 90s and early 2000s Philips was big in the phone game, let's call them the HTC of the time as they certainly spawned some modders.
I had a C12 (Cellnet/U - aka redesigned Savvy on Orange) when I was 15, must have been 2000ish at school (25 now). I remember that the early 'U' branded models had an exploit where you could send free texts by switching the phone off at a precise point when the text was sending. You'd then switch on, and there you go - your balance wasn't touched and the text was sent. This was great, but I believe BT/Cellnet/U/Genie (Jesus, they went through some names) now o2 eventually patched this by adding a random delay at the service centre end so you'd be lucky if they went through free. At least that's what I gathered by the way my phone was acting!
It was hassle though, I generally paid for those texts and I must have spent hundreds back then as a schoolkid texting the cute girl at school and pirate radio stations.
I remember you could do a hardware mod to the C12 and Diga which completly overrode any charging at all. Back then nothing was linked to a name so you'd get away with it until it was cut off (not sure how they went about detecting it). I had an associate who spend virtual-thousands in calls and texts before he was chopped.
These were some old skool devices. My sister got a mobile before me (despite being younger ) and got a Diga on Cellnet. Massive - credit card sim too (even though you could selotape a regular sim inside it) probably the same size as my HD2 (what a u-turn!) and had what I think was a 1 line display where texts would scroll along the screen 1 character at a time. Jesus.
My dad had a friend with a Philips Fizz that needed a wheel barrow to carry it around in, don't think that even did SMS.
Alas, Philips came out with a new C12 which did *something* different, new sim cards or whatever, and wasn't compatible with the old ones. Some years ago Digas and C12s all got blocked from networks altogether. Philips have disappeared from the phone scene altogether now it seems.
We're talking a decade, people. Dig out that old first phone of yours (mine was a Diga and Motorola M3788) and compare them. Mindblowing!
I GOOGLEd them n... well, ew.

Live Demo Unit

Hello good evening group, I want to ask some questions and I need your help. I'm a user of the S line of this S4, but I've had other devices along my trajectory too. But as I am, I'm used to the usability of lines S, and this one from s6~s7.. I use everything syncing on samsung accouts and google account. Like Every end of the year on my birthday I upgrade. The samsung accouts and Google account makes everything more practical and easy. I recently made an exchange with I gave my s10 plus everything right+R$1,000 in an S20 plus. I've been using it normally in my day to day, more recently I went to update it through the samsung switch, because there was a firmware update available. But after this update I found out that it is live demo. When I bought it, the seller did not inform me that it was a live demo version, so far I used it normally on connection, 4g and etc... After this update, it goes up signal and recognizes the chip... but I can't make more calls or SMS... I went to the technical assistance and they explained to me that it was a live demo version and etc... I always used it with film on the front and back and a cape, I never noticed that he had written on the back much more discreet ``Live demo not for sale'' kkk. And now ?? Has anyone ever experienced this ? This is my only cell phone for work and etc..
contact the seller, tell them to give your old phone and money back or you'll go to the police.
