[Q] SGS Cannot recognize SIM Card - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
My SGS won't recognize my SIM card.
A little background I was running froyo ugjl2 from bell i guess but I actually am with Sasktel. I tried to flash jpy the phone wouldn't load and tried to return to jl2 now i get it to load up but not to recognize my SIM. Any help would be appreciated. Tried to access the Mobile network settiongs but can't get into it. I am thinking of flashing jh2 then connecting to kies to get the official jl2 will this work?
Thanks

flashing through kies should do the trick as it 'theoretically' should put the phone back to how you got it....
you can use the registry patch for kies to get the latest official firmwares (even if not in your region)
or you can manually download it and flash thru odin.. but either way flashing back to stock should fix you up

[Q] Flashing JH2 problems

Alright, I'm pretty uniformed when it comes to these things, but as it stands I need some help. I have a Bell Galaxy S (GT-I9000M) that I unlocked to use on Telus and then rooted a month later in an attempt to trouble shoot a reception issue (don't ask). Trouble shooting failed and now I'm trying to get the circumvent the warranty issues by trying to re-flash back to the stock bell ROM, which is from what I can tell the I9000UGJH2. I downloaded it from (samfirmware). I'm trying to use Odin and am having some troubles. When I extract the file there is only a single .tar file inside (I9000UGJH2-PDA-Kernel-Bootloader-CL490514-Low). As such I am unclear as to what to enter for the PDA/PHONE/CSC fields. I assume this file is the PDA, and inside is the modem file if I look. Do I need to extract this to use in the modem field? I'm so confused.
Also, a couple of things. Ive had 'success' flashing using just the the one file in the PDA field, as well as that plus the modem file found inside extracted and selected in the MODEM field. HOWEVER, in both attempts though it seem to boot into the OS fine, neither recognize my SIM card. Clearly this is some sort of failure. Any suggestions?
Oh, and yes, I can get into download mode. That's the only reason I'm fiddling.
since the phone boots into the OS
and you have the 3 buttons working
you can try flashing it back to stock (JH2) using KIES
and see if you can get it to recognize your Telus SIM card with that.
before you go ahead, do you have friends or family with Fido or Rogers SIM you can try?
just to make sure it's not a Telus SIM card problem
I'm pretty sure I did flash it to the stock JH2. When I plug into kies and search for firmware updates it says there are none. Am I doing something wrong?
maybe if I flash the update prior to JH2? Then it will see it need an update and go to town?
on the registry just change all the JH2 references to JG9
then it will offer you JH2 for "upgrade"
or you can use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799810&highlight=i9000m
done and done. used the regedit. prompted to update. did so. loads the galaxy s screen, then goes to black. i kind of want to kill myself ;(
try booting into recovery mode and wipe data + wipe cache
see if it can boot after that

[Q] Froyo update, no sim card detected

Hello guys,
yesterday i installed the latest jpo firmware update on my galaxy s, after that i installed the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756 [KERNEL] SpeedMod Froyo 341MB RAM [NEW: vH w/ BFQ].
Then my sim card was not recognized by the phone with jpo firmware anymore.
I tried everything, deleted everything, did every possible wipe and installed 4 different firmwares via Odin.
The only Firmware which still recognizes my sim card is the JM1.
After a clean install on JM1 my sim is working. But when i am using kies to update to the latest jpo/2.2 the sim is not recognized by the phone anymore.... Even after every possible wipe and factory reset... I dont know why!??
I tried 2 different sim cards (2 different cell phone companys), both are fine, working in every other mobile phone and with firmware JM1. I also tried this solution, but it doesnt work... Also my galaxy S is unbranded and has the DBT Code...
Any ideas? I dont wanna use 2.1/JM1 anymore...
Thanks!
HELL YES!!!
I just installed Docs froyo rom and copied my backuped efs folder with root explorer, now everything is working fine again!!! HELL YESSS!!!

[Q] Sim card not recognised after 2.2 update

Hi,
I flashed my phone samsung galaxy s i9000 (standard) pda xxjf3, phone xxjf3, csc Raje5 To froyo xxjpc via odin as kies would not update.
The problem is phone is not recognising my sim cards now im on orange uk, but I have tried a few others phone is def unlocked.
I think the xxjpc update is for another country, Im not sure which one I should use in the UK, Is there anyway I can fix this or restore to original stock rom.
I just hope I haven't goosed my phone, any help would be greatly appreciated.
do *#1234# and check what phone/modem version it says
i had the problem that it was Unknown after a flash, had to restore my efs folder from a backup to fix it

Removing root and unlocking issues

Hey guys
I tried to remove my Doc's Kitchen ROM and flashed I9000XWJM8.
All is fine, phone is working perfectly, but when I go to connect it to Kies, Kies doesn't recognise it on several computers. I've tried removing the memory card also and it still doesn't work. I am sure it's the firmware. Does anyone know of a good 2.1 firmware to flash and the procedure using Odin? I flashed the above firmware, only the CODE_I9000XWJM8 as PDA and didn't flash the modem file, could this be the problem? Do I have to flash both files?
As I want to upgrade to 2.2 using Kies and want have it looking legit as I have sold it.
I also have a problem unlocking it. I have the unlock code, but when I insert an unsupported SIM, the screen that should come up doesn't. I think this might be the firmware again?
Thanks for any help!

[Q] phone and kies say different things!

Hi I flashed my phone using rom kitchen but before i did it i backed up my phjone using CWM, I believe o2 are starting to roll out the official 2.2.1 upgrade so i restored my phone using CWM, now my phone says it is
pda jp6
phone jpy
csc o2ujp3
but when i connect it through kies it says its
csc jp3(XEU)
and it cannot be updated
so, can anyone tell me how i can get kies to read it as o2ujp3 instead and if so how, i have read about spoofing kies but dont know what to do or what to put in where thankyou
Flash back your original rom that you saved which you have done i would then factory reset .
2.2.1 O2 Uk I wont bother wait for Gingerbread .
