as answered in the other thread, you need to use a different rooting method

I would like to overclock my milestone but i have been told that i need to root it first.
I have followed all the steps but i think i am missing something.
when i click on: apply sdcard:update.zip
This is what happens,
E:Cant open/cache/recovery/command
--install from sdcard...
(Etc it basically say's failed).
E:failed to open/sdcard/update.zip(no such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Dude, you have Android 2.1-update1 and you need to downgrade your recovery to the vulnerable recovery which you can only flash with RSD lite...check the sticky post here in this forum for instructions and links

That's right, just read the sticky on Open Recovery.

You can't use the update.zip method with 3e recovery, look for alternative updating methods.. dunno if z4root might work (never used it personally)

Hello,
just bought ROM Manager, because I want to flash CyanogenMod 7.1 to my Galaxy S i9000
Got 2 problems:
1. Trying to Backup Current Rom, I get the following error:
Verifying update package
Failed to verify whole-file signature
Signature verification failed
Installation package aborted.
2. It's unclear to me which device I must choose when flashing the Recovery Image: Galaxy i9000 (no CyanogenRom listed) or i9000 MTD (one stable and 1 nightly CyanogenRom in the list of ROM's)
MTD? What is MTD? Both options seem to flash CWM Recovery.
I must be doing something stupid, and Koushik Dutta doesn't respond to my messages I'd appreciate your help, thanks!

I'm asking for help as well, so this may not be much use, but I read a few threads back that if you have a stock recovery, the CWM or backup won't pass signature verification. It said that you needed to flash a modded 3E recovery image to your phone before proceeding. Like I said, it may not be much use, but it's worth looking into
Edit: Saw the date on this, realized you've probably already been helped >.<
Hi
I tried to flash Slim Bean 3 on my original ICS (N7000XXLRK) and it's rooted but it just give me this massage
"Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed"
and i do not what is it means
i tried to flash with hydra core 7 kernel and give me the same massage
please if any one know the solution for this help
thanks alot
I guess you are using stock recovery to do this. lucky that you survived.
you need to use cwm to install the rom.
download philz kernel lrk and install it the same was as you are doing now. Once done reboot into recovery and install the ron
