What would it take to port ShadowMOD over to the Droid?
Currently this build is only for the Milestone. I would love to port it to the Droid so I can run it!
I know there are differences in the radios, and a few other differences such as kernels and whatnot because of the locked bootloader on the Milestone but I'm willing to put in some work, I just need to know what all is involved and if it's "doable".
Thanks in advance!
have you previously developed before?

not for ROMs -- i'm looking to get into it and figured a port would be a simple enough place to start... thanks for the reply
well,, unfortunately porting isnt really an easy thing to do.

well we both know that "easy" is relative right? i pm-ed him to see if he could upload his source to github so i could build it for the Droid. i have a couple people on DroidForums that are willing to help me learn. but since this seems to be a more specialized / advanced community, i figured i could find some more specifics over here...
i haven't developed ROMs for the droid before, but i've heard that relative to other types of programming compiling ROMs from source is not that intense. i currently specialize in PHP, but i'm looking to use it for something that i actually enjoy (android vs my job lol) and something that would give back to the community at the same time.
hopefully he can put his source code on github so that i can get to learning

Just a thought,
Whether there will be a community release of an Android ROM for vogue, which all devs come together in a team and make -maybe- one Android ROM ?
It would gain more advantage because all the devs will contribute according to their respective ideas and if this happen, it's must be a must have android for vogue.
Thank you for all the devs here that make our vogue life.

Honestly, it's pretty much like that already,

Lol - every release is a community release. That sounds funny but everybody is using something somebody else did, I guarantee it. You should go on a history walk and find out when things got done and who did them...
The installer, for instance (vilord) - we all see it every time we load a new build. it's been around for quite a while now and hasn't really needed any changes. We had a method before that that dzo had cooked up but it was, ahem, a bit confusing for some (somehow.) Or GPS - a ton of early work by srwalter. Fixes by dzo. A ton of revision by jnadke. Further enhancements by kallt_kaffe.
Obviously, none of those things would have happened without dzo.
This leaves out a ton of folks, of course - mssmison, for example, had his hands and say in just about everything when he was around.
All that to say, every dev uses a bunch of stuff that others have done. Every release is a community release. That's the way it's meant to be, that's the way it is, and we all benefit as a result.
*hugs*

Yes, i agree with that.
actually, vilord build is my first android rom on vogue and Dzo is the magician here -you are not really retire from this great forum right ?
So, i'm wondering if the ROM might goes into like this ;
"How about if i have Dzo build or K_K build with a ton of Incubus and Myn blazing design and tweak and many other contributions by all the devs here ie for the zImage, initrd, maybe some splash screen, apps or the battery performance (*Can we steal this from CM?) so i can say "This is my android stock ROM for vogue"
But anyway I'm not a programmer, I'm just a user.
thanks for sharing.
Hope this will not hurt anyone.
Hey guys, looks like some nice work here. I own a Kyocera Zio and we recently had kernel source released. I am looking to Legend Devs because apparently our source code was taken mainly from the Legend. We are looking for someone to overclock out phone and I was hoping one of the Devs here would be willing to take a swing at our device?? We have a deidcated section here on XDA and our irc channel is #openzio. We would all apprechiate any help you guys could send our way. Our chipset is MSM7227 and we are FRG83 devices. So the Legend has a better chip set, but like I said our source code was taken mostly from the Legend. Hope we can all work together to own our device!! Thanks for your time!
I've included a link to our source code for anyone that wants to take a look .
http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/support/developers.htm
We are running 2.2.1.
Take a look at the htc-kernel-msm7227 repository (you could have easily found that one by using a search engine), specifically at commit c291a2.
We could also arrange you being fed everything else, just tell us whether you'd like a golden or a silver spoon.
(Note: This is a joke. I'm not actually going to feed you.)
He is so funny, our developer.....
If I had any idea how to overclock I wouldn't be here asking. Thought it would be a nice opportunity for someone here to help out. Thanks for being an ass tho, much apprechiated. That isn't a joke. Btw.

Learn. I gave you all you need to know. The rest is a matter of reading wikis and blog posts.
This is the development board, by the way.
So i might not have the tag on here but i have done dev work (rootzwiki is where i used to dev.) and i have created a small little guide for the BSOD fix for our nexus 5's. Which is actually what brings me here today. Im looking for someone that has coding knowledge (not android persay but someone that is good with commands and cmd prompt.) im currently working on a project and ive got the base of it down i just am needing a bit of help for auto input. If ANYONE is willing to help please let me know. I dont want to post me code here as this project is a milestone for me as so far ive written it all by myself.
Thanks in advance.

Black Screen of Death. Its an issue i myself had and 1-3 others have had. Its very rare and only happened to me because i acidently flashed hells core (using the app from the playstore) and it flashed the nexus 4 kernel on my nexus 5 causing my device to not show anything on the screen NOR boot to either boot recovery OR the actual os.

Well... I know the fundamentals of programming and I have participated in a programming contest (I'm 18) and also I am quite good with automation cause I needed it for my projects.
Below you can see my work on a .bat file I've made to make easier my work on a homebrew PSP game.
https://github.com/Leajian/cspsp-nightly/blob/master/jge/Projects/cspsp/CSPSPdevTools-1.0.bat
The same goes with linux related automation, as you can see below here, I've created an (unfinished and buggy) menu script for android which is modular and unfortunately kinda slow and incompatible with some devices, cause by the time I was writing it I had no particular knowledge about programming. I was self-taught and I had been using goto methods. :silly:
https://github.com/Leajian/xMenu
I don't know what exactly you're looking for, please be more specific. I think I can help, but after 29/5/2015 because at that day my finals end.
EDIT: As long as your device has intact bootloader partition and it boots to it, you can always flash a nexus 5 kernel and/or a recovery image. It is suggested that you flash a factory image afterwards.

Hello everyone,
I recently bought the Moto G 2014 4G (XT1078) and see that there's some development around here, enough to let us breath some Android freedom but still not that much. Since the Titan is much alike our Thea phones except for 4G I wonder if it isn't easy somehow to port ROMs from there...
I can try to do it if given the guidelines, hope anyone can answer that.
Thanks in advance.

What about building your own roms from source and releasing them to community?

Well, Luk1337, this is exactly why we appreciate you developers so much. The fact is there is so much involved in collecting and becoming familiar with a whole load of information that to an existing developer will be immediate or second nature. I am a tech person and I am sure I could do it - eventually. When I help users myself in my own areas of expertise I can do in minutes what they have been in some cases literally days on... It's all about time and focus and most users don't want to be an expert technician, just to use something that works.
I know you have your own time limitations, and for now I am just thankful you took the time to put the CM12.1 ROM together which I am now using. When and if you can get round to a CM11 ROM, I think I would use it in preference, but what you have done is just fine.
If there is some easy way to edit the Titan CM11 flash zip with 7zip and drop in the right driver files and build.prop, I could do that if I knew what they were. Also, its a pity the new CM12 flash zips contain images rather than the folder/file structure because now it is not possible to modify/remove installed apps or edit settings prior to flashing...
Hey guys would any one with dev knowledge and skills can try to port this rom over to our device it would be awesome, I would if I could lol. The team was looking for a developer and maybe a maintainer here's the source https://github.com/TurboROM?tab=repositories thanks.
I would love to see this rom on the n6, sadly I aint no developer just a flasher, lol

I've never heard of this ROM, but after searching, I don't think it would be possible considering the n6 was released with Android 5.0 and the ROM is based off of an earlier version of android. If I had the knowledge and time to compile and transfer all the code and compile it for 6.0.1, I would. But I'm not sure if someone is willing to put the effort into it, I'm sorry to say. But I agree, this would be a nice port.

ohhhh, ok. My apologize, I did not see the port for n6P. Well if someone took the time someone could port to n6. Like I said, if i had the time and knowledge, I would do it. I'm currently a high school student and don't have time really. But when it's summer time, I will try to learn to develop ROMs and will port it, if not done so already.
