Is it just me with a bad NC or is wifi reception terrible? I have my clearwire 4G hotspot right next to the NC and still I only get 2 bars for wifi reception. My home wifi is barely even noticed by the NC. Should I get an exchange for a new one or does the nook require specific wifi settings?

Anyone notice dodgy wifi 802.11 signal? I have dd-wrt firmware on my Linksys router with the transmit power amped up and still while in the same room the reception meter on the n1 shows 2out of 3 bars sometimes. Seem peculiar to me. I've tried different channels, lowering the transmit power on the router also.
I am an old iPhone user and I have noticed the same. My iPhone was always connected fine and then in the house I look at the N1 and it is on 3G.. i have to go back into settings-> wireless & networks -> wi-fi settings and connect to my wifi again....
No I mean it just has a poor signal.I look at the wireless clients from my router configuration and the phone has a low signal
ya. but it is essentially the same problem... mine is just worse..
Compared to my iPhone 2G, my T-Mo N1 seems to show the WiFi on full bars less of the time, but actually have better reception in real life marginal areas. In other words, my experience is that the actual reception is better, but the indicator graphic doesn't show full bars as readily as the iPhone did.
I don't seem to get a very good wifi range on my hd7. The hd7 gets 1 bar where other devices in the same position relative to the router get 2 or3 bars, anyone else find this or is mine a faulty device?
im sorry i just found this but i have the same problem! i cant be more than 1 wall away from my router or my hd7 won't find my wifi! i hope this isnt a hardware issue:/
As for Me the Hd 7 has had the best connectivity for wifi for me .. totally pleased, might be somthing to do with the routers.. I have bad connectivity with my Hero but brilliant with the HD 7
WiFi issues
I have issues connecting to WiFi even in the same room as router is, on open networks in coffe shops and hotels.
It's very weird, I get the message that the password is incorrect, or the network unreachable.
I actually dont recall that have one case of successed WiFi connection, I think this is very strange!
Any advices how to improve phone's sensibility, where is Antenna placed?
thanks in advance,

I have been having the same problem. I noticed turning off my data connection completely actually helped some. It seem like the HD7 will try to connect through whatever connection is strongest.
can anyone test different Radios, see which one get better wifi reception.
I tested mine just next to my laptop, while my laptop reach last 2 bars, my HD7 disconnected sometimes.
Wifi reception.
I get pretty good WiFi reception I had to find a specific channel in a congested area i.e. my house but that was router side. I use my phone on WiFi at my house upstairs through a few walls with little issue. It gets the same level if reception as my iPad. Not really a great example there. While alot can effect WiFi reception you guys may have a legit hardware issue.
Same issue here. My HD2 could connect to my router anywhere in my house - however I move to another room now and the HD7 has real problems as the signal is showing as weak! I know it's not weak as my netbook and old HD2 still have no problems at all.. let's hope a radio update will sort it pout.
same issue here
I also encounter big problems with wifi.
At my place I can connect with my laptop and any previous phone I owned to my wifi from my bedroom, but not with my HTC HD7. When I'm in the same room I have nog issues at all.
At my parents place my phone doesn't like the wifi, I am not able to connect to the wifi even in the same room. Other phones are not having issues with the wifi.
Same issue on my EVO, i only have a 20 ft range on my wifi now. Not sure what happened but it really bums me out not being able to fix it.
I am also having this same problem with my EVO. Started not long ago and I have no idea why or how to fix it. no wifi really sucks
I have the exact same problem ever since I bought my HTC HD7S.
WiFi range is horrible regardless of the OS I'm on.
I just updated it to 7.8 and it is exactly the same.
I sent it in to HTC and they said they'd charge me 160 USD to fix it, the phone only cost 99 USD no contract, no fees, but carrier locked of course so it's not worth it.
I did drop it on the floor in Oakland, would any of you with this issue have done the same?
Would that be why my WiFi is so horrible?
What could I do to fix this, replace the WiFi chip inside the phone?
I put CM7 on it the first night I got it so I can't say for sure if it was this way stock, but my Nook Color barely sees my wifi router an won't connect. My LG G2x phone gets 30-50% signal and my Sony VPC1280 laptop gets full signal (it's got fantastic wifi reception).
Is this typical? Well below average wifi reception?
I may need to get a repeater or something. Moving the main router closer to the area I want to use is not an option.
I'm not sure about the wifi reception in general for the NC but for me it works as well as my laptop which is pretty darn good.
My NC connects just fine to my wifi router at home (can't remember brand/model unfortunately), but the transfer rates are pretty bad (3 down, <1 up). My G2 phone gets very good transfer rates (9 down, 3 up). Not sure how to make it better.
I have the same problem... my NC has trouble picking up a WiFi signal in certain places in my house that my other WiFi devices don't.
My guess is that the WiFi antenna is placed where my hands block while holding it or I just have too much interference in my home.
My wife is in Brazil with a Droid Bionic running ICS that she has been unable to get to work while everyone else in the hotel is not having any problems. I don't expect her to be able to use the mobile network but did expect it to have complete WIFI functionality. At home this is on a Verizon network. What is displaying is the triangle with the red dot indicating no mobile carrier signal which we expect. The wireless network shows as connected with an excellent signal. Whenever she tries to access anything in the internet, she just gets a loading message which continues.
I've duplicated this at home (Florida) by putting my droid bionic into a metal ammo container and keeping lid almost closed so it was not connected to Verizon here and I had no problem connecting to the wifi signal (was only a few feet from router which is why the wifi signal was strong enough). The only difference seems to be that her signal strength bars were white while mine were blue.
I had my wife have the phone "forget" the connection and then scan for the network and try again with no luck. Is this what the reassociate app which I've heard of does?
Suggestions? Thanks so much!!!!!!
So I will turn on wifi on my phone but for some reason it still shows the 3G bar and I get not signal at my house so when i try to load up webpages its clearly trying to use my non existent data signal rather than the wifi to load thing. why is it doing this? it's supposed to override the data but its not.

I would troubleshoot your network. The signal bars for cellular do not go away when connected to WiFi, so I would not suspect that is a symptom.
well i am aware of my router being complete crap but im not saying the cellular bars im saying even though wifi is enabled it still trying to use data instead of wifi.

How are you measuring that?
Check your IP address and see if you can verify from that.
All I know is that I've had wireless issues since day one with my turbo, in fact so bad that I just never use anymore (yea sucks)
I am at my inlaws, using my laptop to work all day on the wifi and connection is great. on my Turbo - the wifi keeps stopping, hiccupping, etc. I have to keep turning on/off, etc. to get stuff to work. I just gave up.
There are other threads on the Motorola Forum with similar issues.
Wish we could figure out what magic settings are necessary to make wifi stable.
