[Request] Honeycomb Exchange e-mail app+guts - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Y'all
Google has updated the bugtracker and announced that honeycomb should have all the required security features to make exchange fully work on highly-secured exchange systems.
I tried using the apps with the security removed, but it never worked.
Does anyone now if,how and when we could possibly get the honeycomb e-mail app ported to 2.3?

Android Caldav Client?

Anyone know of a caldav client for the android? If not, anyone have any thoughts about hacking the default android calendar application to be able to sync with an arbitrary caldav server? Does anyone even know what it uses to sync with the google calendar currently? I know that google calendar servers can act like caldav servers, but that does not imply that android is therefore using caldav under the hood to sync.
RE: Android Caldav Client? [bump]
This is a critical step to my adoption of a new phone. Is there anyone developing such an application? Is there a way to extend the existing calendar app to allow connections to other caldav or ical servers with either self-signed certs or non-standard CA's?

I actually finally downloaded some of the android source code last night, but I could not find the place where this is coded. I looked in the packages/apps/Calendar and in packages/apps/Sync. The Sync dir was empty, that code seems to have been deleted recently from the repo. I don't know what it was replaced with, anyone?
I will look into it more, but I am not familiar with the source layout yet and it is turning out to be harder than I thought to figure out how this is currently done to see if it could easily be pointed to another service.
Of course, if you don't mind using google's services, you can probably make their service sync with the other calendar services that you mention.
Seems like they're working on Sync internally. Unfortunately AOSP isn't being developed completely in the open yet. Maybe after donut. Anyway you can see the 1.0 branch source for Sync here
http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=pl...=tree;h=refs/heads/release-1.0;hb=release-1.0
You can also git it by specifying -b release-1.0
And of course like the last poster said, I believe there are ways to make it work if you don't mind routing it through GCal. For my personal usage, I like the Google services, but I am looking forward to more robust integrated Mail/Cal/Contacts replacement apps from other cloud-based providers (Yahoo, MS, etc) and local-sync methods.
Hopefully Google will also fix their own broken CalDAV implementation, and support VTODO sync. That'd be nice...
CalendarProvider.apk may provide some answers.
I've also tried looking for programs like this. It's quite strange that it isn't more noise about this. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and use Google Calendar.
I've taken much pride in being autonomous though, I've got everything Google Calendar has, but not the Android->Cloud->Computer (Evolution in Ubuntu) sync. Only Evolution <-> Cloud (which is just my own servers ).
Did you find anything in the code?
People should probably «star» this wishlist item about CalDAV in Android Calendar: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2361
I really want to kick this one up.
I need a program that syncs my exchange calendar with google one on my phone, like gcalsync did on winmo.
I am also able to use davmail and get the exchangecalendar in caldav mode. Why is this not implemented nor available on market?
Huge $ potential. Contact calendar sync is not working for me.
I just put up a beta app on android market that does caldav sync with the phone's calendar. Search 'caldav' in the market and you should find it.
Cannot find app
I have an HTC desire running 2.1 and I cannot find the CalDav app in the store. I am in the UK and really need this app to sync my calendar at work. Is there a way of obtaining the app and manually installing it.
Seems it is a protected App. But I was able to download it from the market this morning with my unbranded Desire.
I cant download this on my x10 until root is released, can anyone post the .apk for the beta trial

much appreciated
Hang on there!
I am currently developing a full CalDAV-Client for Android.
As a fact, a prototype was developed during my final exam-work in university. Now i am going to do some bug-fixes and enhancements. Await a Beta soon
cu
Sounds great.
Please let us know if we can test your beta version.
i, too, would much like to beta test your app.
I got to have support for multiple caldav calendars (read-only)
in the structure
calendar transport
|-> vehicle 1
|-> vehicle 2
calendar people
|-> person 1
|-> person 2
easiets would be to be able to add just the main calendar (like in ical mac osx 10.6) but adding all the calendars via their own calendarID would be fine too.
Just multiple calendars will be needed.
Hope you will let me in the beta.
Thnx
Hi
I am also verry interested to test your Caldav app.
CalendarSync lacks support for multiple calendars.
Greetings
Christopher
Well, I am currently redesigning the whole app and adding multilanguage support. as soon as there is a beta, i will be informing you guys
Stay tuned in my Post: hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738135
Nice!
Thanks for working on that.
Ive been trying to set up the caldav sync for a while now and it just doesn't seem to want to do it.
any news?

Exchange Email No Longer Working

I just updated to JI6 Froyo (Cognition) and now I am unable to connect to my corporate email account. I get a warning message that states my phone does not support security policies. Not sure what's changed from the 2.1 to 2.2, but I do know my Corporate email does indeed work with 2.1 eclair. One thing to note is that my corporate email requires a 4 digit lock pin, perhaps this is whats causing the issue?
Can anyone provide any insight into what changes were made to the email client in 2.2 Froyo, and why exchange email is no longer supported (in this particular instance)?
Thanks in advance.

You should try to delete the email client and install the cyanogen one. I think that'd what sherpa did for his ''rom''
Yay no more fc
I'm pretty new to Android (Blackberry and WinMO power user). I'm assuming I would need to remove the client via ADB commands? I feel like its probably better just to wait for CM6.1 to get ported to the captivate.
Have you tried beta 5.5? I just installed and it has a new email client. It has fixed the forward/reply issues for me. May solve your issues too.

Eclair never really supported security policies. Froyo does. You should set the PIN then readd the account and it should start working.
Or just break down and get touchdown. So much better than the stock client. Especially from an enterprise exchange admin point of view.

[Q] Can we now natively sync with Yahoo acoount?

Hello world,
Today after I flashed my Nexus One with the new CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1, I went into Account & Sync menu and I discovered that there is an option to sync with our Yahoo! account.
Is this a new feature that I don't know about?
And before I forget, I'm using the newer version of Yahoo! Messenger w/ video that was ripped from myTouch 4G file dump, so maybe that the reason why
Any feasible thoughts?
I have a "stock" rooted FRF91 with the Yahoo+Video apk and I, too, have the Yahoo sync option now. Must be that updated apk.

[Q] Exchange Security Bypass

do we have anyone developing exchange security bypass app for Mi3?
MIUI - 4.4.2
I just use the exchange security bypass for AOSP rom v6.0. Calendar works but email will force close at times.
Cannot use it now since my company now needs to have the phone encrypted :crying:

[Q] Moto X Pure (XT1095) Default Apps - Gmail Issues

Just switched to a Moto X Pure from Nexus 5 and noticed some odd behavior. Not sure if there is something wrong with my phone or what.
- Phone arrived with 4.4.4 and I noticed the old Messaging App and Email client still installed.
- Quickly updated to Lollipop with latest App updates and old Messaging/Email Client is still there (seem to recall these disappear upon proper update)
- Unable to add Exchange based email accounts to the Gmail client (option doesn't exist)
- Get random errors/complaints about Google Services while in Gmail client account setup
At this point I became uncomfortable with things and figured it was some order of events. After wipe/reset, flashing back to 4.4.4 and upgrading to 5.0 in various ways I was still left with the same problem. Finally, I sideloaded the latest Exchange Services to got things working. I shouldn't have to do that. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you still have the old Email client and Messaging apps on your phone?
Really want to like this phone as I'm looking for a pure android experience on a reasonably sized phone. (grr Nexus 6). Don't really want to go back to my N5
No, there is nothing wrong with your phone. The "old" apps are still there - though the standard mail app should have a new look. Orange with Google´s Material Design.
And: As you did you need to sideload the exchange services for the Gmail app - if you wish to use THIS app with an exchange account. The "old" overhauled mail app got exchange support built in, works out of the box. Use that one in case you don't want to sideload anything.

Thank you sir. I was able to confirm the same with another MX14 user. I think it kinda sucks, but oh well. Appreciate the reply
I installed the exchange services app and then added my work email account but i am having problems with syncing. I keep getting syncing errors and new emails are not loading correctly.
Any ideas or tips would be appreciated.
Rick
Well, Exchange seems to be working for me now. What I had to do was install an older version of the GMail app (one of the 5.00 releases) and then it automatically updated later to the latest Gmail release but is still working.
So, steps I took were:
1) Install Exchange Services 6.5 update first
2) Installed Gmail 5.0 (1569867)
3) Later updated to latest Gmail version 5.0.1 (1642443)
