ok, so i get home to flash new serendipty. I did a wipe and flashed the rom but forgot to back up the esf folder even though the program drilled in my head I needed to. Ok so now I assume its gone, heres my question.
does it matter, and how will me not having this file backed up affect me?
Thanks everybody
I also master cleared.....I just would like to know If Im ever even going to need the code again, im not returning the phone to att ever, I dont think so. It seems to be working fine with my t-mobile sim card as well as the att one.
If for some reason I get another sim card, from another carrier im worried I would be prompted for unlock code, which I wouldnt be able to retrieve because I deleted the file...but then wouldnt I just be able to unlock without the code again like I did the first time?
I had used galaxy s unlock and I never got the code, it just followed the steps and rebooted the phone and voila.
thnanks for your time everyone
Use sgs.tools app, secret codes, check your ime and product code. I have never backed up my efs. You should be fine
really appreciate it, thank you
now what is the difference in my unlock rather than a straight up enter the code unlock. As I said I used galaxy s unlocker so I never had to enter a code, but wanted to do it that way, but instead bypassed it completely.
Im just curious as to how exactly does this work? and whether its a "real" unlock or rather just tricking the phone.
I entered the keys to check gsm lock and it is off, however im just wondering
anything else I should know about the esf folder?
Hi all,
New here, have used this site to s-off root my old desire worked great. My new phone Incredible S has recently been updated and now im on 2.0.2 think it is boot loader. Been trying to use the Htc Dev tool to unlock bootloader and after going through the steps have been sent the code to unlock .However everytime i enter it i get the same message
error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin
The unlock code is in the same folder as the other 3 items they asked for , fastboot, adb, adbwinapi.dll
Ive looked everywhere and sadly the few posts ive seen that have fixed this havent said how just ended thread grrrr.
Ive made other folders and directed it to them but get same error. Even removed the (1) from the code they sent as saw a thread suggesting this.
Please can anyone help?

Make sure the spelling is correct and you are typing the name correctly. The filename is case sensitive.

Is your phone rooted? That would be the first step.
Also, would need to know what ROM/version you're running.
What is your operator on what phone is locked?
Sim unlock codes are usualy around 10$ or so, but since cappy is rly common phone probably there are sites with free calculator you time your imei and you got unlock code. you will get your imei with type *#06# on your dialer. . Google to try find free calculator or if there is not then you will have to pay but it's not much. I know for s2 i unlocked for free. there is even application on gplay for s2 unlock also i saw apk for s1 (big chance that cappy is included in this program) I suggest you to try this first, you cant lose anything cuz program will gief you right code if it avalible or it will not gief you anything so you can't type wrong code to many time and lock the phone totaly.
Also i think hard reset , reset trys. not 100% sure.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
First off: I am a noob, both here and when it comes to rooting/flashing/etc. I am speed-learning out of necessity LOL
I cant seem to unlock my phone's sim card pin no matter what I do... I have a Samsung Galaxy S gt-19000M, it was purchased in Canada and used for years on the Bell Aliant network. I have now moved to Belgium and would like to use this phone with Base network here. I love this phone and would prefer to not have to buy a new one
But of course when I put in a local sim card it asks for a pin code and Bell Alliant refuses to give it to me.
So I rooted the phone with SuperOneClick, and put on busybox (I thought it was installed through SuperOneClick but the galaxy_s unlock app was complaining of busybox errors), terminal emulator, root file browser and titanium backup.
So far I have tried:
-> galaxy_s unlock app
Result: it looked like it worked but no dice
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7776555#post7776555
-> Hex edit
Result: still asking for pin code after reboot
-> SGS Unlock Tool apk
Result: cant find codes
-> generate unlock code for windows
Result: errors if my phone is connected to the PC, if I copy nv_data.bin into the folder and run it like that it gives me a code that did not work (20404)
from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=8942669&postcount=94
-> attempted setting the pin to "12345678" (it asked for 8 digits)
Result: the inserted pin didnt work
GalaxSim still says it's locked and sounds like the pro version would work but I cant try any paid apps since the only sim card it accepts doesnt have an account attached to it anymore so I have no compatible sim card with a phone account that could be used to pay for an app...
So....... 2 of 3 pin attempts used up and not sure what to do short of a full factory reset >_<
I then did a factory reset, doesn't reset the pin code attempts (of course), galaxy_s unlock and sgs unlock tool still wont work
Now I downloaded a factory rom and am considering to learn how to flash the phone >_>
Fingers crossed I don't brick it!
My question: Am I missing something?
Did I skip something really noobishly obvious?
Please someone tell me I made a stupid mistake and make this all go away!!
Please? >_>
EDIT:
Ok so I'm a noob alright... I think I have been trying stuff for the wrong model -_-
Which means this is probably posted in the wrong forum section too, I'm sorry...
Back to square one I go
i want to get rid of the annoying splash screen that my device is rooted, on my previous samsung devices i could modify the up_param.bin and edit the pictures removing the annoying messages, but when try and find the file in latest firmware i can't find it anymore, does it exist anymore in the bootloader file, or have it changed places?
does anyone know?
I don't know the answer to this, so I hope you don't mind me chiming in: This is definitely a pet peeve of mine, too on all devices with unlocked bootloaders that I have experience with.
The only time such splash screens would be useful is if your device had been bootloader unlocked without your knowledge, and I bet that hasn't happened very frequently at all. Otherwise, it's just an annoying big advertisement to anyone who does steal your device that "Hey, this device can be hacked even easier than normal." Thanks, Google and OEMs. [/sarcasm]

removes the warning splash only work on exynos and not snapdragon
The splash file you are looking for is splash.img but to retrieve it. You need to be root to get it.
1. Run su on adb or android terminal
2. Enter "cp /dev/block/by-name/splash /sdcard/splash.img"
3. Move it to your PC then thats about it
Hope this helps ^^
