Hi,
trying to get the notifications working on widget locker with ADW notifier for calls/sms and gmail but not quite sure how to do it.
Can anyone offer any help?
Cheers
I'm having the same problem hope someone has a clue?
Bump

Well it seams nobody has a clue... Did you find out something?
I'm using sms unread count as a replacement till it works, but the bubbles are so small on custom icons -.-
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
No, I was using that before but hoped.adw would streamline this :-(
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Well, when I downloaded it from the market I was asked if I want to get a notification service like adw notifier (which is why I thought it would work), but after that nothing happened...
Anyway, I'm gonna ask uncle Google... I'll let you know if I worked it out XD
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Can't find anything significant on google and I'm having no luck either.
Please keep us updated, chiiyo.
Well... I guess you already know that XD but I found out that in the menu where you choose the slider you can swipe it till it vibrates. Here you can choose from the options which shortcuts you want to display, but it seems that this only makes sense when you don't use a custom slider because the icons don't look very nice with those. I guess that's the only way to make Adw Notifier work
Sent from my awesome Desire HD using XDA App
When you insert a custom slider which links to an application which has notification icons and have ADW Notifier installed, it will just work, you do not need to tweak with any settings, hope that helps (I am unsure if the notification icons show if you use a shortcut not a slider, I just haven't tested it)
I thought that wouldn't work because ADW Notifier is just for the ADW Launcher? So, it would be obviously why you can't use ADW Notifier on Widgetlocker lockscreen... I am also using SMS unread count.
No, in the Settings of Widgetlocker it says that Adw Notifier has nothing to do with that, I don't even know if it's from the same developer as Adw Launcher?
Sent from my awesome Desire HD using XDA App
The developer is not the same, but TeslaCoil has built compatibility for ADW Notifier into Widget Locker..
That's what we r trying to get it working with ;-)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
That's odd because mine worked perfectly right out the box..
will this work with custom sliders with custom icons?
i.e.

Another question 'select which you want the SMS notifications to appear on' Would you select Widget Locker or the SMS app the custom slider is linked to?
I hope I can help out with this a bit...
As I understand it you want the little notifiers for unread emails/texts etc. Ideally you could use ADW notifier for both but sadly its not that simple. When I use it with widget locker it cuts off part of the bubble making it look nasty. As a result I use a program called SMS unread counter. ADW notifier is not useless though as it works really nicely for the homescreen. Its not as 'streamlined' but you can have some good outcomes. Here's how I do it:
Lockscreen
To get the bubbles on the lockscreen I use an app called "SMS unread count"
What is does is add widgets to your homescreen that will simply launch the desired app as well as show above the icon the unread count. You can use any icon you like too!
Also someone mentioned that the bubbles are too small. You can change the size when adding a widget to the homescreen.
Homescreen
To get the little bubbles on my homescreen I use ADW notifier. To set it up just go to ADW notifier settings and if you use gmail select the gmail app as your email one. Then add to the homescreen the gmail app and the numbers should appear.
Good luck
I think we already know about sms unread count (see first page), the only problem was to get adw working.

I have been trying this too. It functions fine for me except half the bubbles are missing. My guess is that widgetlocker allocates a certain amount of space for each icon on the lockscreen, which the bubble extends beyond.
Can you even get this or can you not get the notification bubble to appear at all?

You actually have this setup working for you? I have done what you mention, but only the sms notifications (linking the stock messaging app) are working for me. No counter for lost phone calls, no unread count from Gmail.
Would you mind expanding a bit on the specific steps you took to make it work, even if they seem obvious to you? Thank you in advance for this.
C
I also have this problem.
Using "WidgetLocker" plus "SMS Unread cont" for getting unread/missed on the lockscreen. That works.
Using "ADW.Launcher" plus "ADW.Notifier" for getting unread/missed on the homescreen. Only get Gmail notifications, not missed calls or SMS received.

Because apparently the general population can't use common sense, this is a video on how to apply: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i4L0i7zk48
A .zip is linked at the bottom which holds all of the themes. Each theme has two separate versions, one using the Sense application icons, the other using the slide application icons.
The themes are of the stock Slide themes (Nest, Hoops, LightShow, Wildflower, Surf, Nature, and Palazzo) made from images by HTC (I only made them compatible with ADW).

2. For some reason I could not get the vertical scrolling screen to display the app background correctly so you will have to use the Galaxy S drawer unless you don't mind the select/press/normal images not lining up. *Problem with the Stock Launcher Code (Which ADW uses)*
3. Landscape is ugly, sorry, it just is.
4. When adding an app to the hidden dock, the right side of the highlighted dock does NOT reach the edges of the screen, I'll look into this.
5. Scrolling is low quality, it's just an Android thing.
6. The nature theme looks a little odd on the app bar.. thing. It has vertical lines and unfortunately, the way I understand .9's, they like to stretch. It was either have one really long line or lots of lines slightly larger than the original image. I chose the latter.

Good job broseph.
Wow... Good work J!!
You're such an effing swagger jacker.
Very nice looking! The only suggestion I have is to do something with the shortcut names in the app drawer...only the shortest names are fully visible, otherwise they're cut off (because of the border). Maybe there is no way to beautify that, so no biggie. Otherwise, beautiful!
looks great
thanks

It's a widget that was removed from the market.
It rhymes with Dancy Fidget and can be found on the interwebs somewhere
Thanks for this you made aosp alot better to have. What settings do you have adw launcher at?

"Weather & Toggle Widget" has a skin that looks exactly like it also, you can download it and the skins (one for clock, one for weather) from the market, it does cost $1.99 though I believe. Totally worth it imo.

Ooohp, yep. I bought that a long time ago as well (Before it was Weather & Toggle Widget).
Also, the Nest theme s currently on the market, to find it you can search for either "ADWTheme Slide" or "pub:klinster". It is one version ahead of all of these themes (and as such has a couple of things fixed, including HDPI support and general fixes with the bubble).
Starting later today I will begin updating the other themes, and ready them for (hopefully) a market release was well.

Also, I'm not sure if Fancy Widget is considered warez or not...

I been using the one from the market everything is cool but the drawer boxes. i'll try the ones from the first page.
Palazzo worked real well using the slide version. It gave me a force close but i hit wait also want to note my settings which were already setup from using crazybirds theme (nest)
Drawer settings:
horizontal drawer yes
drawer columns to drawer row are all set to four
page horizontal margin is at 10
ui settings:
desktop dots unchecked
secondary action buttons checked
ab scale factor 10
everything else is set to default except background color in drawer
Okay I just checked the ones on the front page and the ones that say slide all work (i didn't test the others) but when I go back to the nest from the market it messes up the drawer boxes. Loving it thanks for your work can't wait till lyrical ink shows up

1. set sensedock.png as your launcherpro dock
2. set your leftmost icon to go to the app drawer, then select custom icon and use the clearsquare.png as the icon
3. same as step two, but set the middle three icons to be the phone app. again, set the icon to be the clear square
4.set the rightmost icon to be whatever you want, i used messaging. again, use the clear icon
thats it! just tap one of the three sections and it will take you there
now your homescreen dock will look just about the same as senseUI.

yes i should, and will
@linuxnewb install launcher pro (Free in app market) then go into preferences>apperance settings>dock background> pick custom and select the dock
then hold down each icon on the dock and set it individually
@clown_lov: yes, you just need to go into launcherpro settings and enable it
love it

ok, I have installed via metamorph and have launcher +beta as my launcher...I must be tired, so where do I go to do as your 4 steps tell me to?
ok, yup I am tired...any more questions will wait when I am fully awake - later on today...lol
Works great!!! Thanks - I needed launcher pro, as you said, and at first all I found was the other one...it would be nice to port the HTC SENSE UI in its entirety to the phone. But, until that day happens, this is a great alternative and the UI is still quick, too, on the captivate. Now, could you point me in the general direction of where I could change the sound and image files of this awesome phone? Thank!!

its not likely that an entire sense ui port will ever happen, basically because senseui is for and by HTC phones, which bare a total of almost no hardware similarities with the sgs. (check this out though http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737526)
you can look to the android general theme section for some bootscreens and sounds.
Do I have to root my captivate to do this?
All you need is Launcher Pro. Hit up the preferences menu after pressing the menu key on the homescreen and go to Appearance settings to change the dock skin.

the first two ways that come to mind are like a shortcut or something and an app that just opens that menu
personally i dont find that to be a really useful button so i assigned it to messaging
What's the all the ado about Sense?
So in a nutshell, is the appeal of SenseUI:
Customized dock
Useful widgets
Expose-like homescreen management
Am I missing something or does all that seem do-able in LauncherPro + (minus some of the widgets of course)?

Recommended Installation
1. Back up your current version with whatever you use to backup (titanium, mybackup, etc)
2. Use Astro, or another file manager to install this new apk normally. Apk is signed, so it shouldn't be an issue.
If that give u trouble, It also works to use Titanium Backup, Backup, uninstall, install new apk, restore Data only. If you do that, make sure you do the 'Important Note' too.
IMPORTANT NOTE
In this recent (.36) version, some had issues with receiving GV notifications--myself included. What fixed it for me:
Menu > More > Settings > Sync & Notification > Receive Text Messages > Toggle whichever option you would like.
Also make sure everything else you want to be ticked there, is.
This is an old note, but if it applies to your situation...
I use Google Voice and Handcent (I don't anymore). I keep Google Voice Notifications OFF and all texts go thru handcent.
I've noticed that whenever I reinstall the GV app, my text message forwarding gets disabled.
It's a super simple fix. You can test by just sending yourself a text message.
FIX
It would depend on your set up, but this is what I do after installing.
Google voice (app) settings - turn notifications OFF (and inbox sync ON, by default)
In your browser, go to google.com/voice
Settings > Phones > EDIT (cell) > Text Settings (Receive Text messages), Check box > SAVE.
Wow very nice trying this now

I've got the updated version, I'll update the OP in a few mins
EDIT: OP Updated.
. . NS4G . . MIUI . .
I just ordered a new LG Optimus Black since my HTC Desire seems to sabotaging me, lol. I've come around a few images for inspiration, and i want to know how to get them. Haven't yet decided if i want want to tweak the original rom, or go for CM7, what launcher and so on.
1. First pic, fond this among the screenshots for Beautiful Widgets, but what i am looking for here is the launcher, bottom icons and their frame. I might want to use other shortcuts, but i suppose it's easy to make a custom icon for that:

"lightbox_share": "Share",

}
2. In this pic, i'm looking for the neat notification bar without childish colors and with the elegant font used here. BTW, do NOT want the orange default color, hated it when i tried MIUI on my desire. They should be green or blue...
3. Can't seem to find the image atm, but i want some sort of notifications on the lockscreen about missed calls, new sms, new email and new gmail. not icons, maybe just text, and a red circle with a number representing amount of notifications. As far as i understand i can customize a lot of it with minimalistic text, but i probably need something else. I also want to display time, date etc, but not a lot of icons and shortcuts. And a nice discrete unlock bar of some kind.
4. Calendar widget. I like the default one in Sense, but i also like the look of (cal widget?), just plain text on transparent background, no clumsy frame around it. That might also be neat to have on my lockscreen, unless it becomes to much...
I have already purchased SwitchPro Widget and WidgetLocker Lockscreen, dunno if i can use them for anything. Is Better Cut a app i would need? I know this might be a lot, but i have a vision of how i want it to look, and i would really appreciate all feedback which could help me along the way
First pic, it's GO Launcher.
Yeah, first pic is definitely GO launcher EX, and second pic is obviously MIUI launcher.
Well, you can try both.
Now for the lock screen things, you can use widgetlocker, lockbot etc., and /g/o locker that comes with GO launcher. Just try out all of them and see what meets your needs !
Another thing, if you flash cyanogenmod, you will have a lot more options like in notification bar you can put as many buttons as you want; plus, using Theme Chooser application, you can try many amazing themes ! This device's hardware is quite capable of using every customization without any lag, and blazing NOVA IPS will give you the utmost realistic effect of your theme for sure.
Okay, can't say more. Check the homescreen pic thread in heme Section and see the other user's modding..
Thanks for reply I've been looking trough a lot of homescreens for inspiration and themes, but I want to put together my own "theme" with a sleek proffesional look. Not sin Harry Potter or Star Wars look I guess I have to play around with it...
But is it doable to grab the MIUI notification bar and use it in another launcher?

and thats a fact, you can brick it... I've already tried to edit framework-res.apk from cm7 to add the icons huexxx made but I was unsuccesfull, although the icons can be used with stock rom and nova rom [both are froyo] but can't with cm7 [GB] maybe thats the trick
Just picked up my handset from the post office, and the first thing i want to do is to make a complete backup of it, then it's time to "**** it up", lol
Ok, edit the framework, might look into that. But let's try to attack this from another angle. I don't need the whole dropdown notification bar settings, just it's appearance as it is there on top of my homescreen. Do i need to edit the framework to change the color/image, font and icons in it? I hoped it was just some xml and imagefiles to edit. Or is there a selection of styles for this part in other CM7 themes? My biggest issue with MIUI is the orange color they put everywhere, and on my Desire MIUI was way slower than the stock 2.3 rom.
EDIT: Or another turn of events, i could install the MIUI ROM/Launcher, but somehow replace the ugly orange colors. I suppose i could replace the icons in the bottom launchbar...
I've gotten so much further now But there are still some things that i want to change. Like in this picture, what widget is displaying weather info?
I've downloaded Beautiful Widgets, and i am so not happy with it, so i'm thinking of making something on my own with Minimalistic Text and a weather widget, just need a simple but nice widget with transparent background. I also need a lot of time to figure out Minimalistic Text, it has great potential, but is a pain in the butt to set up, lol.
haha you're right MT is such a pain to set up... I'm sure I saw that weather widget before, where you get the image?? maybe at the thread of "post your home screen" or something like that?
Ok, this is where i'm at so far:
I'm pretty pleased with my lockscreen atm, might fiddle more with it later, but as you can see, the homescreen needs more work, lol. The weather widget is Beautiful widgets, one of the few that are actually 100% transparent. I think i might change it for a combination of Minimalistic Text, and hopefully i can find a widget showing just a moon/sun/cloud, and get its data from the same source as MT, so they will match... These are the apps i'm using atm:
- GO Launcher EX
- GO Launcher EX Notification
- WidgetLocker Lockscreen
- Super Status Bar
- Minimalistic Text
- Missed It!
Also, what does the icon in the upper left corner mean? looks like <D].
I have applied Trickdroid 8.0.0 to my HTC One, and then put the Nova Launcher on top of this.
I have applied the "Stock Jelly Bean" Icon Theme settings to Nova, so that when unlocked, I get these preferred icons.
However, the lockscreen is still running out of Sense UI, I guess, as the default HTC Icons are displayed.
Can I change this?
Additionally, can I alter the default apps on this lockscreen? i.e. I am trying out K-9 Mail instead of both the default HTC mail and Google's stock email, mainly because the latter 2 don't seem to render emails to show the full screen.
I am looking at trying Android Revolution HD as an alternative, that might give me this functionality. Perhaps someone could comment on this as well please?
Thanks
Natively, there is no way to change the lockscreen icons. BUT, there's an app called 'Unicon' in the Play store that lets you use Icon Packs system wide, even in the setting menu. So check that out!
As for changing the icons, the dock actually directly relates to it if you haven't noticed, so change the dock and you change the lockscreen apps.
I'm on ARHD, no special functionality here.
Good luck!

Thanks jikstah
I think there maybe a problem with the nova launcher with this as well... The lock screen displays the default set of icons (phone, messages, lock, Internet and camera) but home screen has my custom setup and I use some different apps for some of these too. Nova also has the ability for scrolling pages of the dock, which might be the cause to the problem?
I will look at unicon as well. Thanks for the tip...
Thanks again

The lockscreen uses the icons you have in the Sense dock to decide which icons to display. Nova is powerless.
I just turned off my lockscreen in the settings. It goes straight to nova. Also, I created a custom shortcut to Blink feed, so I get the best of both worlds!
thanks sauprankul
i think you might be right. i tried unicon, and same result.
it would be nice for this infinitely customizable android to be able to do this, while keeping the elements of sense i like (zoe's mainly)
so in your setup, you have zero lock screen items going on then? just rely on notifications instead? how does this occur with incoming calls? and alarms?
thanks
... and there is no alternative lock screen choice that can be made, when running sense? even from trick droid ROM, which still has sense capabilities but they are not turned on by default (i.e. i could do similar to you, and add it as a widget item if i wanted. i dont, btw...)
I have tried the tweak ROM / zip that is linked to the Trickdroid ROM, but reflashing this pack with different options does not seem to make a difference...
Lock screen is either stuck with default HTC Sense functionality or you have to 1st unlock the AOSP lock screen, then you will see the other lock screen underneath.
I am seriously disappointed with this lacking functionality. Taking the shine off all the other bits I'm enjoying about my switch to android...

Unicon works for me? But I had to enable it in Xposed Mods, whatever that is...

thanks again jikstah.
so you have TrickDroid ROM running, with Nova Launcher on top too? so i know that your setup is comparable to my own.
