Hi guys, appreciate the help with this. I have rooted and have tried all sorts of roms on my Milestone
However with Cyanogen cm7 with Gingerbread 2.3 and other variances of the cm7 i cannot get any network coverage or cant connect to my provider. However my phone works perfect with the 2.3 AOSP roms...
Is there something obvious I am doing wrong? Am i missing something when installing cyanogen roms?
Help?

Yes...You probably need to apply the basebands of your region when you install CM roms.
You can do that in Androidiani 3.3 Open Recovery, on the menu "Change baseband"

Ahh OK so it has got to do with applying the basebands to my region.
I have seen this option in Open Recovery 3.3 . Is there any specific file I need to download or number I need to know before attempting to change my baseband.?
i live in New Zealand.
thanks.

No, you dont need to download additional files. Just go to Androidiani 3.3 and try applying bands until you get coverage. Many of the people apply RTEU and it works. I dont know what is the baseband for your region, but you switch between them and you will find the proper one.
Hope I've been helpful!

If you're with XT use the Brazil bb.

Where abouts in NZ are you? I'm also a Kiwi (Gisborne) and I have no baseband trouble at all on any of the GB ROM's, or any ROM's for that matter. I've never had to mess with the baseband and I move from ShadowMod to Cyan7 all the time as they release new updates.
What baseband did you use? Im having the same problem and I can't get 3g working for the life of me. I think it's a mixture of apn setting and baseband. Im on 2degrees btw.
I need help with this too. I live in Auckland and use Vodafone NZ. Originally, my milestone came installed with Froyo (v2.2) and it was the Europe version I believe......both 2G and 3G works fine on it, however I have problems with the wifi like many people have.
So then I later flashed to the New Zealand v2.1 SBF, and now wifi works fine but I can't get any connection to Vodafone. The reason is basically because Vodafone doesn't support Milestone, only Telecom XT does. However, if I switch the network from 2G to 3G, then I can connect to Vodafone. I can also connect to 2Degrees, I can see all 3 networks (Telecom, Vodafone, 2Degrees) when I'm on 3G and I get about 3/4 bars constant so it's stable.
But when if I switch to 2G, I get completely no bars and can't detect any networks at all. Not a big deal but I wanna use 2G to save battery. When I was using the Europe SBF (the v2.2 Froyo that came pre-installed with the Milestone), I was able to use 2G no problem.
Anyway, I think a simple baseband change should be fine, but I'm not sure which one I should use that works well with Vodafone NZ.
The baseband has to match your handset's capability. Xt units lack the Vodafone 900 band, they have 850 instead. Both carriers use 2100 in the CBD. Vodafone has also 2g network that has crap coverage. I'm using my xt set with Vodafone, but there's no point changing the bb as xt ms can't do 900 anyway. Basically get ****ty GPRS except right in town. It's only used as car GPS/stereo so no biggy for me.
but mine isn't originally an XT Milestone, I bought it 2nd hand on Trademe and the original owner of the phone got it from somewhere else. It's just that I flashed the New Zealand v2.1 SBF, which just so happens to be for Telecom since there isn't one for Vodafone......
Plus, it was able to work fine on 2G when I was using the Europe v2.2 (Froyo) SBF, so I don't see why a simple baseband change isn't possible?
Check the exact model number, most of the ones floating in nz are telecom models, no matter what the previous owner was using it with. You can change basebands as much as you want, if it doesn't match your hardware it just won't work. I.e. you will not have 3g outside of main centres. Afaik, 2g is the same on all models.
So, install OR, then one of the cyanogen based roms (it has all nz apns). Boot into or, there's a list of basebands - try till you get one that works.
Have you set your APN setting right?

Cyanogen based roms have all the nz apns, otherwise, you have to put the correct one in.

Recently I played with radios a bit.
I tought the retail Brazil radio would work perfectly in my zone, but I was wrong.
I lost internet access with it.
The 4.2.1.1 radio kills the signal strength and also the internet connectivity.
Then the Telstra 4.1.4.2 radio. It works well, but the phone heats a lot. Also there's occasions where you loose the signal completely then in a few seconds you have full signal again. And sometimes you loose internet connectivity for a few seconds or until you reboot the phone.
Actually I'm back at the 4.1.8.3 radio.
Josuetenista asked me to upload the retail Brazil radio so he can try it.
To anyone willing to test it on an AT&T Atrix, be advised this will kill your internet connectivity. Phone will show 3G but won't send nor receive data.
I've included the 4.1.8.3 radio so you can return the phone to its original state.
These SBFs are for AT&T phones only.
You can download them HERE.
Hi Whipon, would you like to upload all the Radios for the At&t Atrix? Currently I'm at Capital Federal (Movistar, carrier) and constantly loosing signal and H+ connectivity all the time, so I would like to mess with these radios a little bit.

I see. So I'm not the only one not having HSPA in Argentina.
I only have the Retail Brazil and the Telstra one that dew.man uploaded some time ago.
The 4.2.1.1 radio kills the signal almost completely, so I deleted it. I can rebuild it if you want, but I don't see the point.
Currently the best radio seems to be the 4.1.8.3 one.
I hope this HSPA issue will be solved with Gingerbread.
What other radio do you want?. I can make you one with the Claro Brasil radio.

Thanks Whipon. I will try it and let you know how the radio works here in ecuador. Im still having lot of problems with the 4.1.83 Radio. The best radio so far is the 4.1.57 Radio, but I tried to use that radio with the latest firmware and it doesn't have internet connectivity, that's why im stuck on the 4.1.57 update.

Hello,
I have a question, why are you guys talking about the different radios and post System Versions instead of Baseband versions?
Baseband means Radios and heres an example of different baseband version numbers:
N_01.87.00R
N_01.77.15P
N_01.77.07P
Etc...
Just curious...

Guys, Don't get me wrong but I really think that it would be more helpful if you talk about radio versions by using baseband numbers instead of system version numbers.
Saying that you are on X system version does not necessary imply you are on Y radio version.
For example, I'm on system version 4.1.83 but my radio or baseband is N_01.88.00R which is not standard for my system version.
I'm just saying...
Thanks!

cuz flashing sfb is not necessary to change the baseband version

First, the radio only SBF some posts above doesn't work on an AT&T Atrix. Period.
It uses diferent ram downloaders incompatible with the AT&T one.
If you try to flash it, you'll get an error in both the phone and RSD Lite.
Second, knowing this, I would like to know how these "lots of people" tested the radio not having a working sbf to flash it. I've tested it, making a working SBF myself and all ended with the results I described. I can upload the SBF if anyone is willing to test it.

Hey guys,
First of all props for the great job you've done. I have a few questions which I'd be thankful for if you could answer. First of all I've googled this hundreds of times but I still can't find what exactly IS gingerbread software, and why is it preferred over official firmwares? Secondly I would like to know how to access the root files after rooting so I can delete the wifi file. (My tab has the wifi connectivity problem). Lastly I flashed my T-mobile tab to Euro firmware using Ayman07's guide, the dialer is there etc, but the problem is that I want to use this in Pakistan. So how do I make the tab function with the sim from Pakistan? Whenever I put the sim in I get 'Not registered on network'. Sorry for all the questions, but thank you in advance. Great job once again.

Gingerbread actually is an official software version of Android and it's not yet available on the Tab. You can put Gingerbread on the Tab using one of the ROM's from the development section.

You can download Root Explorer from the market or use adb to do this.

You will need the JPZ modem. If you use Overcome rom the modem is included within the procedure....good luck!
The JPZ modem will be ok, but the carrier you will have is the same as at&t, so I recommend the JK3 modem.
You will get voice and EDGE data speed (2g). 3g is not possible for your t-mobile tab, no matter which modem you use, because the radio does not have the frequencies needed for 3g on that network.

Hi all ,
I would like to know if a baseband exists for the Lg Trill using T-Mobiles 3G/4G . The only reason im asking is because im with Simple Mobile right now and since they use T-Mobiles network I would like to get faster download speeds. BTW this baseband would have to work for GB. As I am currently using GB and I would like to keep GB. I would also like to know if there is a method if it was tested and if it was successful ? Thank You.
No amount of software can enable a radio band that isn't there. AT&T Thrill does not have 1700mhz band. That's like asking developers to create an app for the Thrill to shoot out an infrared beam to remote control my TV.
what version of gb you are running? was it the leak one or the official 21a kdz.
if u flash 21a kdz, file, then its very good chance that tmo 4g baseband already included, because i have o3d (p920) tmo version running 21a kdz and i get 3g/4g speed. as far as i know, thrill lack hardware 1700mhz band and that could be the reason no 3/4g on tmo or simple. however other user (p925) flashing 21a kdz file and using tmo, getting 3/4g speed. u might want to take a look at it

if you upgrade gb v21a kdz on this link

then i think the tmo baseband is in there. not 100% sure, but that is the link that i upgraded my o3d and i am able to get 3/4g signal.
there is limitation, p925 technically lacks 1700mhz. radio band that uses for tmo 3/4g signal.

p925 does not have hardware tmo 4g radio anntena inside (1700mhz). that is the reason probably why no 3/4g eventhough the sofware baseband is present. and about the phone under setting, it said so because the rom is build base on o3d. it can be changed to anything with editor and root

Did you flash AT&T Thrill 4G Froyo baseband to V21A?
Can you be little more specific on what you did?
How did it change your phone? Did anything get improved?
I followed the steps for updating P920 to official V21A_00.kdz and it worked for P925 as well.
It improved in the sense that know I have FM radio app working and also I get 3G signal with T-Mobile, and also I get rid of At&t apps which do not work on T-Mobile.
I flashed Acura's rom on the O3D thread after flashing the GB kdz and now I'm getting 4g speeds on T-Mobile.

are you saying that an att thrill phone can be used on simple mobile and get 4g by this method?
goog question, my dad has simple mobile and my daughter I have her thrill on T-mobile
after flashing BB my daughter's thrill gets very impressive speeds 7mbps down and 2.5+up, I will try my dad's simple mobile sim card on my daughter's thrill and see if infact is capable of receiving 3G speeds at least.
FANTASTIC
I see I'm not crazy so this can be done, I need the tutorial on how to do this PLEASE!! I've been searching for this for weeks and I'm sick and tired of edge, I need my 3 or 4g speeds! Please give me the link on how to do this and please make sure that all the steps are there. Many tutorials assume you know certain steps I need ALL OF THEM!! Thank you to all.
I have a Telus Milestone that I unlocked and am using on Rogers.
It works fine on stock.
I flashed MIUI and I can't get service. I checked the APN settings and they are correct.
Any ideas on how I can get this up and running on MIUI? Stock Froyo kind of sucks lol.
just tried another ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849676) and same deal
you should try to switch baseband through OpenRecovery to set Telus one

I did a search for base bands but couldn't find any alternative ones. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

SOLVED!
Did some more searching and was able to find this: http://dext3r.komodin.org/
It has a 3G radio update near the bottom of the page
You can switch baseband in OpenRecovery. There's an option for it. When I used CM7 I just flashed the Canada baseband one and I was fine on Rogers as well.
Just got my Droid 4 and try to use it with GSM in Germany. I'm on the .212 leak.
However, I have no HSPA/UMTS reception. Not even EDGE. Only GPRS works.
I tried out everything, set it to WCDMA preferred, tried all the build.prop tweaks, nothing helped.
Tried out a different SIM, and I'm sure my APN is set up correctly.
It is not related to my region, my Droid 3 works perfectly here.
I think I have a hardware reception issue, but still hope it is just a configuration.
Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

I'm not fully sure if the Droid4 has world bands in place. In the "Set GSM/UMTS band" I see only USA Band listed.
Also, do you have your APN setup correctly? Make sure the APN authentication is set properly, that's one of the bigger bugs out there with the new builds. Also, have you tried using a custom ROM?
The Droid 4 for sure has the proper bands for UMTS/HSDPA in Europe. Has to be an APN thing. Hopefully somebody else can shed some light on this, as I am planning to use my Droid 4 in Germany as well in the coming months. I know there is someone from Holland on this forum that has no problem using his Droid 4 there (he is also on one of the latest ICS leaks).
Does the foreign SIM card initiate some type of APN configuration when inserted?
As I said I'm really sure APN is correct, I doublecheckt it a couple of times. I'm also sure it is not an APN problem because data IS working, but only with GPRS. Could try a different ROM, but I doubt it will help, I had this issue both with stock Gingerbread and leaked ICS.
Were you able to get this figured out?
i have also problem to get data, it connects to network but there is no data. :// have tried everything with apn and network settting but no chance..
p.s.: i am on .212 leak
So did something maybe change from ICS build 211 to build 212? Did you guys have any problems on the previous leaks?
i dont know if it works actually with 211.. does anyone know if i downgrade to .211 leak from 212

Sure. Over at droidforums, there is a tutorial on how to do it. You have to fastboot GB 19 first, then use the unstick tool with the 211 Kernel, followed by flashing of the 211 ICS leak. I have been doing this every single time going from one leak to the next.

Downgrading within the ICS leaks works the same way as upgrading as long as you have the proper leak and kernel.
Do any of you Canadian forum members have difficulty with Data on the latest ICS leaks?
i can confirm that data on .213 leak doesnt work also in germany. i will try .211 later...
could someone send me the build.prop(.211) for compare before i downgrade..
