Thank you again!

I know this is the Xoom forum but anyone with a transformer want to give the APK a shot? Been interested to see how this app works on other honeycomb devices.
Does it have a .odex file it it too? This doesn't come installed on the Euro XOOM 3G. I tried copying it to /system/app and chmod 775 but no go.
Macbots drool as I XOOM through the Galaxy to my hearts Desire on the back of a Droid
has anyone got this working on a Xoom 3G Euro yet?
wont install on G slate
doesn't work with acer iconia a500 either.
it won't install without the .odex file, and even with it, it doesn't seem to work. Thread is a waste of time since it doesn't provide the "full" application. You think these .odex files are there to look pretty? They contain a lot of the application's functional code.

What steps must be taken to get this to work? I tried it on my transformer but no go; not surprising after reading your comment. Why the hell wasn't this included?
Well you could argue two things, first the op didn't explicitly ask for the odex, or the person who posted it isn't familiar with how this works.
Anyway, odex files contain the pltfirm specific compiled code for an application it is moved into a seperate file for the sake of performance.
I have experimented with this and it seems there are some certificates or something, possibly even libs missing. It wont install so forget about it for now until it can be deodexed.
I look forward to that day and think it's a shame rest of us didn't get it

Ok so I am trying to get friend stream to work in the new fresh rom. I got the apk from damages rom along with the widget. In cmd I successfully push the apps /system/app/ after typing in adb remount. However after I reboot the app is not there. How do I get this to work? Also was wondering how to port a system app from a darchlegend rom to work on any other rom. Any advice is welcome.

Wont work, period. It needs an .odex for both the widget and the normal .apk for it to work in the latest release.

Hey fellow Optimus 2X fans,
I was wondering if anyone already tried to change the bootanimation by overwriting the bootanimation.zip in the respective directory.
I am considering buying a branded version of the Optimus 2X and aside from the carrier apps the bootanimation would be the only thing that I would need to change to make the branding "invisible".
Cheers

Was thinking about it yesterday, but didnt have the time to do it. The bootanimation.zip is located in the /system/media directory. But when trying to rename it to .bak i'm getting an error. Probably has something todo with the settings. I'll check on it later on this day.
Yes, i did it and its working fine
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
In general you can put bootanimation.zip in /data/local/. If it will work on 2X I don't know, but just put it there and do 'adb shell bootanimation' to test it.
Still haven't tried it, I'm having trouble removing the original boot animation.zip. But I'll try it with root explorer.

You don't have to remove the original one. The one in /data/local/ has priority.
Besides you should be seriously careful what you do in /system, because there are several ways do destroy your phone at the moment, before we crack it completely.
Ah ok well that's the reason why I haven't tried it yet. I'll try to put it in data local first.
I normally don't remove stuff from the system directory.

Attached is a Honeycomb boot animation, i would say thanks to the people who ripped it out but im not sure who did it :/. Ive replaced the bootanimation.zip in the system\media folder on my Hero using Root Explorer and it works a treat. So might be the same on the 2x? not really too sure on this one....
I think what is most important here, is that the resolution of the animation
after all it's only a text file and some png's
I dunno what resolution the hero has, but i suggest using bootanimations with the native resolution (800 by 480) for the O2X
I got the Motorola Atrix 4g Boot animation if someone is interested

Installed on my 2X currently running Paul's vanilla ROM - looks great, no issues.

I have a branded phone from Swisscom in Switzerland. I have used this app and have changed the bootanimation. http://www.androidpit.de/de/android...uctions.bachanger/Boot-Animation-Changer-LITE
There are some stock bootanimations to choose from. The app is been upgraded all the time and should support sound as well.
I installed it on my Nexus One and then grabbed the APK with Titanium Backup. I can install it on my Xoom and run it, but it won't let me login, etc. because the device isn't supported. I thought I'd post it in case any of you know how to tinker with it to remove the device compatibility check.

At a guess, because they're having to work with multiple vendors for hardware DRM because that's what the media holders require.
That, and JNI/C++/Android NDK developers with enough experience to do the necessary coding are extremely hard to find. We may be having to wait while each vendor ramps one of their developers up on the necessary technologies.

I think you misunderstood the post (and I'm sorry if you did). This was just to make it show up in the Market. This wouldn't make the app itself allow playback if you got the error message.
Some devices do work that aren't supported (for example my Nook Color running CM7) so it makes me think that there has to be some way to get around the check, but unfortunately, that's beyond my skill set.
That makes more sense and I misunderstood your post.

This method may be a little easier for you. I tested it and it seemed to work just fine.
Directions:
1. Delete Hulu Plus if you have it installed already.
2. Delete any backups you may have of it in Titanium Backup.
3. Get Titanium Backup if you don't already have it.
4. Download this file and unzip it, there will be 3 folders in it.
5. Place all 3 folders in the sdcard/TitaniumBackup folder
6. Launch Titanium Backup and restore the backup.
7. Enjoy?
And of course I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong and blah blah blah.
PLEASE NOTE: You can't use "Ad Free" or anything that modifies hosts for this, or the videos won't load.

Most specifically, I want the camera to work. I tried installing normally with no avail and also tried replacing the BlurCamera.apk and BlurCamera.odex in the /system/app folder and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- but after I rebooted there wasn't a camera app at all so I reversed the process with the stock camera and now have that back.
So, is there anyway to make the camera work?

There is only the apk in this zip. I put it in /system/app and rebooted but it is not showing up. What to do? I am new to this stuff so my apologies if I missed something.
The profiles for power managment from the RAZR would be great on the Bionic. Locale does not natively support shutting off the cellular data when Wifi is active.
Is the Profile function part of the Zip?

To install put the bootanimation.zip in data/local & the next time you reboot it should appear.
Holy s**t that cm7 busting out of the nook logo is just awesome! I only ran it once and then rushed back here to comment. I found it on the thread started by whoever requested it in the first place but happened upon this post before i could navigate to the original thread.
Too goddamn cool, really! I only tried it because i thought it was so weak that the guy begged for it over a couple months time, and then ducked out without really thanking you or giving you any feedback.
I have had the animation disabled for forever, it is not something i ever cared about, but that is just great. It was a little choppy, but i have just loaded it the one time. Too cool, man. I'm gonna go watch it again...

Sorry, I have been busy since posting the OP I'll update it soon..
If you put the new animation zip in data/local instead of system/media it works as well and you don't have to worry about renaming or losing the original animation.
Files put in data/local simply preempt the stock system files. It is there for the express purpose of customization. Just drop it in and reboot. The ROM does the rest. If you want to return to the original just delete it, and it automatically reverts to the original.
I put it both places first and that's just the one I removed first so I figured it wasn't necessary. Your way is definitely better.

Jeez, having that on device has endless advantages, if you think about it. Very cool.
And a cm9 version would be very welcome. I haven't ever cared about animations before or since, but this was cool.
Edit: and...it won't save any files to my sdcard. Unknown reason. The amount of time I spent on this I should have just restored the backup. It also won't successfully email an attachment it upload to the cloud, before you ask.

It is because the bootanimation.zip is not an ordinary zip. You need to include it in another zip or rar. I use rar to avoid confusion with install zips when I do attachments.
