[Q] Problem with incoming calls - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I'm currently running Froyo from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...09493&page=603
it runs great until someone calls me. It freezes when I answer the call..is this a ram issue? I haven't tried texting or other messaging. I recently ran Gingerbread from the same thread and it froze after trying to run google maps, after which i couldn't get haret to run again.
I did a hard reset then installed froyo.
I have a HTC Warhawk (topaz) running WinMo 6.5
plz any suggestions?

NVM
Actually its not working anymore....It happens when I get a call from my brother, but whats weird is that his girlfriend (who also uses android?) can call me just fine. He has a regular cellphone with at&t (same company as me). He says that first it connected but then goes to my voicemail in google. (I have google voice installed). Is it a google voice support issue?

heyo FIXED IT BY INSTALLING GINGERBREAD....done
NOT:::::
I can now make calls, but I can't receive them. All incoming cals go to my google voicemail for some reason even though the voice mail is set up to be my carrier and they call me with my phone number not my google voice number.

I've found other forums such as PPc say that certain task killers will stop incoming calls and such so I'm going to uninstall it....cross my fingers
Okay update:::
I have uninstalled advanced task killer and receive calls...it just freezes the phone after 9 seconds of being connected.???!?!?!?!?!?
Is this a rooted issue
Please someone answer me.

Fixed sorta
Okay, got it all figured out, put my sleep mode = 2 or 4 and that fixed it, also underclocked it to save some battery life I put it on 450MHz instead of 528MHz
Unfortunately the GPS seems to be the new problem hopefully thejokah and gang will improve upon this soon.
Thanks guys you're doing great.

Google Voice won't make outgoing calls!!??

Ok I recently rooted and installed 2.1 from these forums.
I installed Google Voice which has worked perfectly for the last 2 months.
Outgoing/Incoming Calls, SMS, voicemail, etc.
I also have SetCPU to overclock the phone.
Well just yesterday Google Voice stopped making outgoing calls.
SMS and Incoming calls still works fine.
I made sure it was set to what I originally had it setup as to "make all outgoing calls with google voice".
I even set it up to ask me everytime, and I get prompted but it uses the phones original number/dialer.
I uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail.
The only thing I can think of that changed was I added the Android draw pattern unlock. But I disabled that and that has not fixed the issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Sigh.
There is a problem with GV on 2.1.
You have to use an older version. I think it's 0.2. It's the one that's recommended, anyway.
Go here and at the bottom is the download;
http://www.thefuzz4.net/home/AndroidPhones/Eris/HowToRootYourHTCEris.aspx
You are the MAN!!! Thanks for you help, that fixed it!!
Hate to be a downer... but your phone is not overclocked.
lol
I know, but technically it is overclocked compared to the crappy speed they idle/run at. It doesn't run at the full 528 like it should.

google voice: either rings forever or fails

Hey guys,
I use Google Voice as my forwarding voicemail. I'm on Sprint. And I've been having a lot of problems with my voicemail for a long time. Thought I'd see if you guys have any idea how to fix.
When people call and I don't want to pick up, the phone will ring several times, stop, then ring another several times again. To the caller, it sounds like the phone is ringing 10+ times, and so most people just think I'm on the other line or my VM is broken and don't leave a message.
In the past, I've tried flashing a sense rom and that usually accomplishes a minor improvement: If people are willing to let the phone ring for 10+ times, Google Voice will kick in with my voicemail. But the issue of the phone ringing forever doesn't seem to be solved. I've called Sprint and they have no clue what to do with a "rooted" phone (I didn't say it was rooted, of course).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
I'm also on sprint and use GV as my voicemail provider. I've had the exact situation you described off-and-on for quite some time. Callers also occasionally get an error message from google saying my number has been disconnected. This is an EXTREMELY frustrating as I really like GV extra functionality yet hate these random problems. I've searched the all over and lots of people seem to have this same issues.
One possible solution that seems to help some (yet sadly not me) is to turn OFF 'Call Screening' via GV's web interface. Settings->Calls->Call Screening
It's supposed to go 'straight to voicemail' whenever your Sprint # forwards the call to the GV #. The GV# isn't supposed to ring at all. (Mine still seems to sometimes)
glad to know I'm not alone!
I do have that call screening setting turned off already, sadly. Doesn't seem to make a bit of difference.
seems i read someone post the set the do not disturb option on and it helped.
I had the same problem and I had to change my Google # to fix it.,. Ill try to find the link for instructions and post later
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
I think enabling "Do Not Disturb" did the trick from the Google Voice app on the Hero.
just had my roommate call me and it went straight to voicemail!!! It still rang a few times (like it should) and then, instead of pausing and ringing again, it just went straight to google voice.
I'll update if something goes wrong but until then, thank you dpeeps!

Thx man I've never heard that one before! I'll give it a shot.
Try youmail from the market
If you still haven't found a solution
My phone was ringing up to 12 times sometimes! This did the trick:
Well I guess I can't post links if I am new member until I have eight posts under my belt, so just google the article: "Techerator and How to Prevent Extra Rings using Google Voice as Voicemail"
*Solution*
^ this article does have the fix, and here it is:
1. Go to Google Voice in your web browser
2. Settings
3. Phones
4. The "Edit" button under your phone
5. Show Advanced Settings
6. Select the radio button "Go straight to voicemail" (instead of "Ring my other phones before going to voicemail").
7. Save. Problem should be solved.

[Q] Google Voice

So here's my story. A couple of weeks back I had started to notice that my phone wasn't ringing when people were calling me. Through a bunch of troubleshooting found out that it seems to be my google voice account that is causing my calls to go directly to google voice. I also use google voice on my tablet as it is a lot nicer to do stuff on the bigger screen. When i looked under the settings found there was something about (Sorry this is weird) "dogfood" settings. When i clicked on it it said something about sending feedback. I backed out from there. (A little freaked out as to what that might do.) Did not have this "setting" on the phone. Needless to say I un-installed wiped the tablet. Did the same with the hero. Put new roms on both and I would be able to receive calls for a short period of time. Then after a couple of calls it would start to send calls to voicemail again and I wouldn't be able to make calls out. So finally took google voice off of both the tablet and phone and disabled google voice and now I can make and receive calls.
My problem is really like google voice and want to use it. Anyway around this? Part of the reason that I'm asking is that I see Matt uses google voice too and was wondering if anyone else had been having this problem. I don't know if there is any other app that works similarly if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
Sorry for the long post but its kinda weird and didn't wanna post "Google voice f-ed my phone" and then have to walk everyone through the troubleshooting I had already done.
Thanks.
OK this is going to sound stupid and quite obvious but..in the phone app> menu>more>settings>do not disturb. Is that off or on?
I have been using G-voice for a while now and I have never had any issues. But I do have that "dogfood" under menu on the phone app.
I remember checking on that a few different times because I remembered reading about it some time ago. I don't think that was it. It seems like someone was having trouble with that on the with the aosp/cm thread a long time ago. I was concerned with that dogfood thing but maybe it is nothing. just google having fun.
I will check on the settings thing and flash to DX and test some more.
Thanks for the info. Will let you know.

I have a good question... When you installed Google Voice at the setup screen did you hit Next at the first screen that mentions Sprint integration? This is most likely what is causing it sir. Try reinstalling GV. Then open it. When that prompt comes up again hit Skip this time. Then following the remaining instructions. It should work perfectly after this.
It sounds like an initial setup issue. I would reinstall the application again. I've been using GV without any issues.
Actually got it working sorry for not posting back. After formatting boot, system, etc. It started working correctly. Must have been something that wasn't getting erased during the normal wiping between roms.
Google Voice issues.
I too had similar problems and finally thought of going into my actual Google account and changing how Google voice handles my calls. Works ever since I did that.

I don't know how many times I had to re-install GV on my and my friends' phones before remembering that trying to integrate with Sprint's Visual Voicemail just doesn't work..

You can integrate, but you might need to go into the actual account (not the app) and make sure that it is set up not to ring to the phone and not the internet number (or whatever that option is). My issue, besides every text message going through GV, was that I couldn't make an international call. I had a credit but it would never go through AND I couldn't make a call without it using GV even when I told it not to. Maybe I should have tried to go into the account to check on that too? LOL I went back to just using GV as my voicemail.
They fubarred this whole integration. In theory it sounded good but update after update they still don't get it.

[Q] Google Voice after update

I'm starting a new thread for this as it looks like the original update thread is not the best place to ask. As with other Turbo owners, the recent update broke my phone's ability to use Google Voice for my voicemail. Anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks in advance.
Yep, this happened to me as well. My only solution was to uninstall it, then reinstall, and go through the process of setting it up again. I also deleted it off of the Google Voice web interface as well. When you re-add it they ask you to confirm it, then you go through a few steps which involves dialing a string of numbers to set it all up again. I had no voicemail for a couple days before I realized it was broken. Can confirm it is working again after starting from scratch on the setup.
Just noticed the issue when I read about it here. I uninstalled Google Voice from my device and then reinstalled it and reconfigured. Seems to work now...
Thank you both! Works fine now.
I just had to reforward it with *71.
Not a problem.
I've done the forwarding and set up thru google voice, then opt in for Hangouts to manage it
Enabling Advanced Calling gets rid of any call forwarding you set up. That's why your voicemail stopped working. All you should have to do is set up your call forwarding again and it should work.
As a side note, disabling Advanced Calling also resets call forwarding. VoLTE doesn't work great for me, as I don't have a reliable LTE signal at home. So, I disabled it and discovered my old calling forwarding settings didn't come back.
I have GV "working" again....however, when a number is forwarded to GV (because I choose not to answer), it rings FOREVER before GV picks up. It used to be an immediate pickup prior to the update.
This is still an issue for me, I keep reforwarding my calls and they don't stay forwarded. It seems like it's just a couple hours before it resets.

Are you turning off Advanced Calling? That will reset it.

No.
FWIW I just signed up to Verizon and got a Droid turbo for myself and a note 4 for my fiancé. I couldn't get Google voice to configure at all, on the Note it works flawlessly. So now I have a note. The techs there were obviously baffled. I'd still have the turbo if it wasn't for lack of GV.
Clear data/cache and reinstall/reconfigure. Haven't had any problems since I did that after the update. Didn't have any problems before the update either.
No one likes to use the hangouts for Google voice? Download the hangouts dialer and you're all set. Oh, go to settings and select ring this device for calls.
How I was doing it was I set GV to to make and answer all calls. It'll attempt to ring then give up. I'm going back to Verizon tonight. I like the Note 4 but it is pretty big. The only thing other than the turbo that I like is the Xperia z3v. I don't mind the incrementally weaker hardware paired with a 1080p screen. Waterproof is also a big plus.

You want to put your google voice number.

google voice not working on 5.1

Hi
I searched and couldn't find an existing threat to this, thats why I ask.
I got a replacement Not4 after I had a bunch of problems. Since I work internationally I use Google Voice a lot.
I pushed the update out as far as I could until I gave in last week. What a mistake.
I have extreme lags, keyboard freezes, and Google voice stopped working. I can not make international calls with Voice.
I am not offered the choice to use it. It automatically uses Tmobile. If I force it, same result. I know many people had the problem,
but everyone fell silent. Was there a solution I did not get?
Any help is greatly appreciated
If you root the phone you can install a 5.0.1-based ROM that works with Google Voice. I'm running Rapture on my phone for that very reason.
Two options with your current rom:
Use Google Hangouts to dial your calls. This will use data instead of voice minutes, and the call quality may be different.
Or, install Voice Choice 2.0 and have it force all calls to be dialed through your GV number. It takes longer to dial calls this way, and your outgoing call log will only show your GV number, not the numbers you actually called.
Details on the Voice Choice method can be found in this thread. (Search the thread for Voice Choice.)
Google and T-Mobile know about this issue and we can only hope they are working on a solution.
