I am starting this thread for anyone who may be or could be stuck in my situation.
Situation: stuck in apx mode, wont charge but when I plug it up to the computer I get apx mode and when I am plugged into the wall the soft keys light up but no charge light, all this after using SuperOneClick Root method.
So people have found themselves in this situation without using this. I also have a power and charging light issue it does not light up any more, I was told to let it fully die and then try to charge, that didn't work. So I was left to search button and coffee. I came across the nvflash post and felt a lot better about the situation.
But, heres is my last hurdle setting up nvflash to work with the DELL STREAK 7, which is not an easy task in Windows or Linux. So here is what I have come up with.
In Linux (ubuntu) I have nvflash installed , I know this because I am able to make simple commands to my device but i am getting errors due to the fact some of the files need to flash things like the system.img or boot.img or recovery.img are not for the STREAK 7 but for the gtablet ...booooooo so for example the file gtablet.sh which i know can be edited , but then there is the gtablet.cfg which I know can be edited , but the gtablet.bct file is a whole new party lol...but the main file that I have yet still to find is the bootloader.bin
without this I cant do anything...
So all positive help or links will be appreciated.
any takers on the issues
Did you try the hard reset, paper clip in the hole thing?
Yeah I sent it back to dell

Anyone have any luck with this? I am also stuck in APX and have tried to follow illdills instructions on using nvflash to restore. I can get to the part where the boot loader gets downloaded to the the s7 but then I get the following error message:
failed executing command 31 NvError 0x120002
command failure: writedeviceraw failed (bad data)
Any ideas?
Thanks

ANYONE?! I would really rather not send this back to Dell
Can someone please figure this out Like I have this same issue and mines started after my battery died...... Like I need my Streak to be working
I ran into this same issue after flashing HoneyStreak B3. I re-flashed it and kept playing until my battery was dead. Then I realized that it wont charge on the wall charger. The orange charge light would only come on via PC USB. I plugging it into my laptop overnight and in the morning I flashed back to HoneyStreak Beta 1. It came right back, first try.
There is a link to getting back to 2.2 in DJ_Steve's HoneyStreak post. You could follow these steps, but I think flashing HoneySteak B1 or B2 would be the easiest method to getting back up.
If you need Beta 1 or Beta 2, let me know, I can throw it in my DropBox for you.
sorry ...mods close thread i sent it in to dell long time ago ...
I never flashed mine, only root. It was working fine just a min ago and now she's dead. No lights no nothing ...guess I will be calling tmo in the morning

Ok so i was on 2.2 Firefly and tried to flash stock GB. Did a reset and wiped the dalvik. Put the phone in DL and Windows (Vista 32b) is not detecting the phone, it spits a usb unknown device. Had to pull and plug the usb a few times until it finally get a good detection in Odin.
Now the real fun begins.. Started the flash and got stuck at "Do not turn of target" for more then 5 minutes. No activity, no bars going up.. nothing. I unplug the usb and replug..No more detection. Remove the batt and try DL again...Bingo black screen of death ! and can't go in DL anymore.
I got a usb jib and it works.. hooray or so i thought. Plug in the device and now windows is still not detecting the phone and install a "unknown device" under usb section. I uninstalled all the drivers i had and reinstalled... same issue.
Downloaded heimdall and that's were the revelation came... My device is f*** up real bad. My USB\VID and PID are now both 0000 (VID_0000&PID_0000) and not "VID_04E8&PID_681C". Windows driver can't recognize the device because of it. Tried putting a entry with 0000 in the driver .inf but it still can't detect the phone. I only have a "Samsung USB Composite device" with a error code 10 (cannot start device) under device manager.
SO..Is there a magic solution to bring this thing alive with Odin or heimdall or is jtag recovery the only solution left ?
EDIT: FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!! After 3 days of driver install and port switching i found a way to get Odin to detect my soft brick phone in DL. I used my usb hub (yes you read that correctly) to plug in my phone and Odin detected a com8 connection. I flashed via the usb hub and i'm now back on track !!!
Stuck with this same problem...
I can get it into Download Mode ONLY with a jig...
other than that anything i do (turning it on, plugging it in) makes a weird screen appear that has the following:
[cell phone] .. [caution symbol] .. [computer]
both windows and ODIN will not detect phone both on this screen and in download mode
got ODIN to detect phone twice after multiple attempts and it says that it starts the flash but that is as far as it gets... second time i left it all night connected with ODIN running in a feeble attempt to get to flash back to stock
trying different USB ports, i do not currently own a USB hub like the author of this thread used to finally get it working...
quite frustrated...

Have you tried flaking with odin one click or the drivers from designgears thread in dev section? Also try uninstall drivers and go to advanced and install those drivers manually. Let met know if helps if not we can try something else.

Try a diff USB cable too.
Mine did the USB not recognized thing due to a faulty cable.
This happened to me a while back. There was only one way I was able to get to download mode. See if it works for you -
1. pull battery, count to 10
2. reinsert battery, DO NOT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS exept to follow the next step
3. When I would hold down the vol Up and vol Down together for several seconds, the screen would blink. When the screen blinked I inserted the USB cable. Bam - download mode.
Hope it helps.
edit: well, this is coming from the "phone ! computer" screen. sorry
Able to get unto download mode... I will try the different cable idea in the morning... well... it is morning so in like 6 hours lol... thanks I'll let you know...

When connecting to Odin. Odin should be open and running prior to putting your phone into download mode and attaching to usb.
It was at the time...

Any clue as to hat might have made the cable bad? It still charges phone and looks fine =\
Thanks 41LY45 for the cable suggestion and everyone else too for everything... now to root this new phone... (wont be easy this time Rogers and I guess its NAND locked or something)

How I solved USB soft brick.
I had something similar, and have been searching for hours to find the following sollution:
Source: http://android.modaco.com/topic/309961-usb-brickrickrolledb0rked-fixed/
...
Also, SD card functionality has to work. For this, do 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' in fastboot mode.
Steps involved:
1. Find out your CID. Go into fastboot mode, and do 'fastboot oem boot'.
The log will say something like the following:
Code:
#INFOTAG:Ramdisk OK
#INFOTAG:smi ok, size = 0
#INFOTAG:hwid 0x0
#INFOTAG:skuid 0x21F04
#INFOTAG:hero panel = 0x0
#INFOTAG:engineerid = 0x0
#INFOMCP dual-die
#INFOMCP dual-die
#INFOTAG:mono-die = 0x0
#INFODevice CID is not super CID
#INFOCID is HTC__E11
In this specific case, the CID is HTC__E11.
2. Get the following mtd0.img from here or from here: mirror provided by SgtDavePwnage.
Edit this image to the CID you found above with a hex editor.
3. Get flash_image from here or from here: mirror provided by SgtDavePwnage.
Move this to /data/ , and flash the modified image using:
"/data/flash_image misc /data/mtd0.img"
You can move both mtd0.img and flash_image by putting it on your sdcard, and issueing the following command in a terminal emulator:
'cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image'
'cat /sdcard/mtd0.img > /data/mtd0.img'
You might have to do 'chmod u+x /data/flash_image' before you run the commands (or chmod 755 /data/flash_image)
4. Repeat step 3 a couple of times if it doesn't seem to work well.
5. All done! Reboot, you should have normal usb connectivity. Post your 'fastboot oem boot' log and intermediate steps if it fails.

I hope this helps you as it did me.

im in the same position. soft brick into download mode and computer sees it but odin dosnt do any thing when i click the botten
Big problem.
I had CM7 #107 installed, flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223846 to OC and fix a few things. first couple of days were okay, now phone reboot when ever and after reboot LG home crashes. so i tried to install a old recovery CM recovery, i had three and none of them worked.
I first cleared both caches and then did recovery. and nothing. cant access the LG recovery screen (with battery out, screen just flashes and loops) and now after flashing a stock rom via this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021554, now i cant access either LG recovery or CM recovery as the last flashed deleted it.
Any one have any tricks or ANYTHING i can try. i wana revert back to STOCK! COMPLETLY STOCK. HELP guys im outta options.
UPDATE:
I think i bricked the phone, not sure how, but, cant access any recovery functions. cant even get teh S/W menu, it just loops. if i power on the phone the LG screen is just there, bottom menu buttons light up when i touch but no function. Also when i plug in USB computer makes a sound that i plugged it in but, LG software or any flash software cannot see the device. NEED HELP.
no one has any idea what i can try?
Search for the nvflash. I thought I bricked mine to, but nvflash helped me out.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
i tried to use the nvflash tool but i cant get to the APX mode, when i hold both volume buttons and after connect usb cable, i hear the computer recoginizes that something connects, after i use the nvflash.exe --sync which comes up, but after i try nvflash.exe --dl bootloader.bin, it just hangs, it just says NVFLASH started, i waited 15-20 min and nothing.
try smartflash
I had some problems with Win7 x64 a couple of times. Have you tried with another computer?

UPDATE:
Using Smartflash -- how do you install rom using this program. i thought this program is only for baseband updating
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229407
It includes the drivers for NVFlash, which I assume you're currently missing.
^^ thanks but i cant use NVflash, im in APX mode and i'm able to sync using the NVFLASH --sync command, but when i try to BL a file it just hangs on NVFLASH STARTING, i leave it for a while and nothing happens.
That's happened to me before, I tried a few times and it eventually worked.
i use nvflash.exe --bl fastboot.bin correct?
If you're talking about the link I gave you, use the batch file, it handles the command for you.
If you want the actual command, edit the batch file and c'n'p it from there
i edited the batch file so it only does the internal flash, all i get is "nvflash started", this suppose to take a while?
** i know the nvflash is working or supposedly, cause when i disconnect the cable i get an error in command.
No, it should be near enough instant if it's going to work.

There is a certian flag you need to run commands with, if your not running them as the first command. Try looking at nvflash --help
UPDATE: IT WORKED!!!, went home, plugged everything in, and on first try it worked using the .bat file. Now i have cwm recovery.
I'll upload the stock boot rom onto an external and flash using recovery. wffffuuu, thanks guys.
Okay guys, I've learned from my mistakes of mixing bootstrap files, but I'm here to help you unbrick your Droid 3 (XT862) The following is a list to unbrick, the process should take about 5 minutes (not including the download or boot time)
1.[Originally from RootzWiki] Updated Link! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/61707107/Verizon%20Droid%203%205.6.890%20OTA/Flash%2BVerizon%2BDROID%2B3%2BOTA%2B5.6.890%2Bto%2Bphone_psouza4.zip
2. Download the ~450mb file.
3. If you have a spare battery, or the current battery, make sure it's charged above 50% (quick unbrick wont run if it's below 50%) You can use a spare USB cable and strip the red and black wires, then place the red on the + contact of the battery, black on the - contact. Dont charge it via this method for longer than a couple hours, and unplug if the battery starts to get hot. (Lithium-Ion explodes when overheated too much)
4. When the download is complete, extract the RAR file (WinZip), and when the phone is off, press m+power and scroll down to AP Fastboot.
5. Plug the phone into a USB 2.0 or older USB jack on your computer (some users finding USB 3.0 problems), make sure you get the USB connected message on the phone.
6. Run the "Click Here - Flash Verizon" file, make sure you get "OKAY" for each message that pops up on the CMD prompt.
7. Let your phone restore and boot.
If you have any questions, feel free to message me or reply to this post.
***Sorry for the re-post, but I don't want rants on iphones and ps3 controllers on a potential sticky thread
+1 for sticky. Used this on my 1st brick and it's very easy and very fast!

I used to use a standard micro usb, and now I have to use the motorola supplied one. You can charge your battery via the stripped USB cable method, just be careful, and this may sound redundant, but make sure youre using a Droid 3 (XT862) Also see if you can boot into recovery somehow, (m+power method, or x+power method) and remove all of the files that you can (possibility that you're exceeding the system partitions). Keep me updated, I'll try to help as much as I can.

Motorolas website, ebay, amazon. Try those, and try plugging your usb into the back of your pc (where the motherboard has its outputs) because those support data transfer a lot better than the front ones.. maybe look around for a Motorola ADB driver or some sort, because I distinctly remember on my windows 7 computer, a message popped up saying Motorola ADB driver installed or something like that, right after I plugged the usb cord in after I started AP fastboot.

Go on motorolas website, there should be software drivers, or you could google it. I'm afraid you're in territory I haven't dealt with before. The only advice that I can give is to redownload or download drivers, try redownloading the file for the unbrick, use WINZIP as your application to unzip the rar file, and just keep trying. I'm sorry man.

Try going into recovery, and do a factory data reset, and clear your cache. Then try.the flash again, and disconnect your usb cable after you finish the flash. If it does it again, pull the battery and keep trying. Make sure you're using an xt862..

Alright, I'll try that. And as far as the battery is concerned, will the phone still charge from that screen so long as it's plugged into a wall outlet?
Hi
I've been reading all the topics in here and trying many methods, but now im desperate, so i dediced to post here
When i try to run my phone the red text appears: [LG-Security] Error: Boot Image Signature!
I've tried to run http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35971349 this guide, but when i plug off my battery i cannot get into s/w upgrade in my p880.
When the battery is plugged in I can run s/w upgrade, but my computer doesn't see the device.
Is the phone bricked?
Can i do anything to ressurect it?
EDITroblem solved - still don't know how, but after 5000th reboot it is just working without any other bugs etc...
it's bricked, you tried to install custom recovery without unlocking bootloader?
you can revive it using that tutorial. leave the battery in in order to get to s/w upgrade screen, but before that, you need drivers (and if your computer isn't detecting it in s/w mode, the drivers aren't installed)
It seems that you didn't install the proper drivers on your PC as it doesn't recognize it.
Sent from my LG-P880 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, your device is (soft)bricked, and yes, you should be able to recover it. Try the LGMobile Support Tool. Run the tool and plug in your phone while holding down the volume down button (with or without battery). If it doesn't see your device, make sure you have all the latest drivers for your device installed. You can find them on LG's website. Then, try again and once found you'll have to force an update. You can find that option somewhere in the top right menu's. Then be patient.
I seriously doubt whether you have properly searched the forum, or Google for that matter, though..

Thank you for your help
As I mentioned - my phone somehow works...
I don't know how,why and what happend, but it just works...
I've tried to get the system back via lg tool, tried to install new kdz (didn't work, coz my phone was not recognized by computer)
Anyway - thank you again, and sorry for the time you lost
As title states my phone is stuck in boot loop after last night when I tired to flash Venom ROM. I had been running Trickdroid ROM for over a year and decided to update the ROM last night but the installation was continuing to fail and I decided that I would tackle it again in the morning.
When I turned the phone on this morning, I attempted to boot into recovery - however the phone just decided to continue a boot loop sequence to which I am now stuck in.
I have read a number of threads and the best way to end this seems to be to erase the cache from fastboot. Due to being on Windows 8 now I reinstalled the sdk files needed and attempted to connect to the phone. However; Windows 8 is now seeing the phone properly and, when attempting to install the drivers, is coming up with a message saying "Device Failed Enumerication". I have attempted to install the drivers manually, as well as Win7 64 drivers, but it's not accepting them and therefor I cannot connect to my phone via the PC.
I pulled out my Windows 7 Disk to install this to the PC but, due to having a bluetooth keyboard; and no wired in sight, I cannot hit a key to enter setup - just to top off a great morning!
If anyone could help me get past this and back into clockwork I would be extremely happy.
From the bootloader menu the phone states that it's unlocked, using the original usb cable as well as a usb 2.0
Cheers.
Fastboot erase cache is really what you need to do. A lot of ppl have issues with Windows 8 and there are guides for it. If you still have problems go visit a friend who has Windows 7
