Now that the froyo its going to be available for milestone in a few weeks, I am fearing that as in case of droid, they would make it hard to root and install roms.
What do you guys think?

You may have a point here,, It was very hard to flash VR for some of 2.1 versions, but it went very easily with O2 Leak & Asia Pacific but not Vivo Brazil (for me).
any way after receiving the official froyo update I'll give the phone to the wife and get HTC..
The official versions rooted and overclocked with no problems.

I think you should begin fearing about something else because you're a year too late on this fear.

hey guys, i have a legend , 2 months old one and my software number is 1.31.***. Can i get the froyo update when they roll it out for unbranded phones? (mine was bought from the htc store) and if not, should i update it manually ? do i need to root my phone to do so?
regards
Where's the issue? Keep waiting and sooner or later you'll be offered to apply FroYo update.

well most of the people have 2.03.405.3 , a version that iam unable to download. i want to know if there is some connection between the upcoming froyo and my old software number
Just wait for it. The Froyo released was meant for Vodafone users anyways. It'll be anyday now since it is ready. Btw, questions should be ask in General section.
Hi,
I found this :
http://www.frandroid.com/51647/sfr-presentation-du-calendrier-des-mises-a-jour-des-androphones/
Basicly, it's a listing of every phones SFR (french vodafone) is going to update with dates.
Here's the thing :
Thanks FrAndroid for the news.
PS: it's written "(est.)" which is the short for estimation, just to be clear.
PS2: that means a stable froyo SenseUI rom in a near future
Thanks Sympnotic, but i'm more excited about gingerbread!
Thanks Sympnotic. Some light on Froyo tunnel for Wildfire !

SFR released the legend 2.2 OTA update, it was planned for the 17th december, we're only the 9.
I'll do *#*#checkin#*#* to see if something appears for our wildfires
edit: I might have been too excited but Legend had their updates one month ago, didn't read 17/11 but 17/12 as I don't see the point to include an already released update on a Roadmap.
Vodafone (NL) updated their Legends already 15/11, the unbranded phones are updating now. So 17/11 is the right date.
But that means that vodafone will give the update in about 4 days, and HTC maybe in less than 2 weeks?
Because they're busy with Legend right now.
I hope so

Yep, I know but thanks for pointing it out here.
Well, if SFR release the update before HTC, it would be easy to grab just the SFR rom, purge it from their bloatwares (sfr wifi / tv / account - apps) and add more languages to make it a WWE rom.
The Wildfire from a friend of mine has recieved an update today.

How do the updates work? Does your phone do it automatically? are you notified first?
I'm on 3 in the UK
Edit: But it's a Vodafone Wildfire which I had unlocked (if that makes a difference).

You can either reflash your phone with a RUU from Shipped roms (must have HTC Synch installed to use RUU's) or you could wait for Danne_jo to release a UK version of Froyo (as we all know he'll be the first(he he))
This is a lie

I tried to use
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe
Which I believe is a generic rom, on my phone which is H3G UK and I keep getting Customer ID Error
I can't use
RUU_Buzz_H3G_UK_1.16.771.2_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31
_release_131501_signed.exe
as my phone has higher version 1.26.xxxxxxx
Is there anyway to bypass this error?

thanks for the info, though... I believe they are releasing 2.2.1 for wildfire? Since modaco and cyangen have somehow picked up a leaked froyo for wildfire.

Not cyanogen, they work on raw code released by Google. Hence cm is way different from other repackaged roms.
Hi
I recently upgraded to HTC wildfire official froyo 2.2.1 update.
My build number is 2.25.720.1
I know for sure that there is no root available yet for froyo. But can anyone help me in getting the soft root access, which would help run root only apps pls?
Thanks,
Goldbeard
Even that is not possible. Only shell root is possible as of now, but, that is totally different from system root, which is required for root apps to run.
If you needed root apps, why on earth did you upgrade when there are 1000 posts from different users shouting themselves hoarse not to upgrade to official 2.2?

China 2.2 is downgradeable to EU / WWE 2.1. (There is a thread somewhere in this forum) However, for new Outside of China buyers, if he gets an out of the box 2.2, then its hard luck.
However, in this case, the OP has specifically said "I recently upgraded to HTC wildfire official froyo 2.2.1 update."
I sometimes feel like just getting rid of it...Ever since the leak kernel came out and people bricking their Note..now I am afraid to flash and do something wrong...I am sure just flash with abyss kernel will not brick it..but getting to flash a stock ICS is a pain period.
count me IN. hate all this BS
they say the europe ICS is being patched and hopefully to release soon(just a rumor)

motorola atrix 4g. was with gingerbread though, not ICS. if you flash/update to official gingerbread, flashing back to 2.2.2 would result in a hard brick. flashing to a different version of official gingerbread would also result in a hardbrick.
i took my phone to a service center, told them that they should avoid flashing my phone unless they wanted to replace it for me. they flashed the australian firmware over the original AT&T firmware, and bricked my device. they ended up having to buy me a new atrix.
What brick BS are you talking about (I have an AT&T) Note are you talking about the international version? I rooted my phone and installed a very nice ICS 4.0.4 ROM? I used the same type methods as all the other Galaxy roots and flashing.

I have the atrix in my arsenal. I hard bricked by Atrix with the whole SBF flash thing. Contacted motorola and told them it was an official update that did it. So, I sent it back to them and it took them several weeks but I finally got it back with another motherboard.

This is the international Note forum, so yes we are talking about the international Note NOT the ATT Note. And as far as we know right now, the ATT note is safe from bricks. Now, before you mess up your phone, you can go back to the ATT Note forum now and flash YOUR ROMs.

Where did you get that info?
Hi folks - i've never sold an android advice before (and they are a lot harder to sell than unlocked iPhones from my experience so far). Currently I have the latest Indian JB rom and rooted with Philz latest kernel. I am wondering whether I should sell it with this rom or go back to one of the original Gingerbread roms and not have it rooted. I assume that anyone who buys a pre-rooted phone with the latest rom is going to know what they are getting into. On the other hand, if the buyer isn't one of those people, I want to make sure that the phone is going to be stable and I won't have to deal with someone saying that there is a problem with the phone after they get it.
I appreciate any advice! I've got it listed on eBay now and it closes in 10 days. I would add a note that I am willing to flash it back to an original ROM if requested. Thanks in advance!

My opinion: get back to a stock version (ideally, the latest one for your country to make it "official"). If the buyer is not familiar with Android, they will be able to get updates OTA. If they are tech-savvy, they will know how to root the device and flash a new ROM.
