Hey guys, I have the cm7 rc2 rom running on my wifes droid and its great little to no bugs great stuff.
Question... While I like the gingerbread keyboard she does not. Any way I could get a t9 type or phone pad kind of keyboard on it? I've searched the market for one but with no success. I'd Luke to have a stock one of some sort.
Any help is very appreciated.

Better keyboard has the option to enable it.

You need to install a Android keyboard replacement app, just like:
- Smart Keyboard PRO https://market.android.com/details?id=net.cdeguet.smartkeyboardpro&feature=search_result
- Better Keyboard https://market.android.com/details?id=com.betterandroid.betterkeyboard&feature=search_result
Both have an option to change the keyboard layout to T9. Sadly both apps are paid apps. SmartKeyboard has a free trial, but you get time to time a popup.

Does anyone know of a keyboard like the stock froyo keyboard packaged in attn1's liberated 2.2(latest builds). I mainly am just looking for a good keyboard that has the phonepad style keyboard, which also has T9 predicted capabilities while using the phone keypad layout.
Thanks!
Also... I need it to be compatible with Cm6.1. Doesn't matter too much if it is tested on the latest 6.1.1 build.

Smart keyboard pro has it. As well as the modified HTC keyboard somewhere in our forum. I think it says modified by Jonas or other. In the htc ime thread...

I have tried several different modified versions of the HTC keyboard(which is the one that I want), but have not had any luck getting it to work on the Aria running CM6.1. I take that back... i havent tried it recently since 6.1 was released, but im assuming it will still be the same issue(not showing up on the screen, or getting an fc as soon as it does).
Could you please point me in the direction of known working version of the HTC Keyboard if possible?
Thanks a lot
Have you tried this version? h ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7915283&postcount=2551

Look through the keyboard options, I believe there is a option for a T9 style keyboard, among others.

Are there any 3rd party keyboards that work on liberated froyo. I really liked the droid x one for cm6. Besides swype. I don't like any of the market ones

Have you tried Smart Keyboard? SwiftKey, SlideIt, 8pen, Better Keyboard all suck. Get Smart Keyboard, skin it nice, and it's the best keyboard, imo. They have exact look-a-like Gingerbread skins, iPhone skins, and a few other cool ones.
I am using stock gingerbread keyboard on my Liberated ROM and it's pretty useful. Tried better keyboard, smart keyboard, swype etc.
i always thought the htc keyboard was the best normal keyboard. my favorite not-normal keyboard is swype.
I really like the one that comes on the Galaxy S phones (not Swype, which is ok for just english). I think it was just called Samsung IME, but was really useful as an English keyboard, and switched to Korean super quick.
I guess if you want a good keyboard that does both you have to get one made by Samsung, but that's just for my needs.

Ya should try the gingerbread kb that's on the market. Closest to the sense kb, and maybe better, it's been forever since I had sense installed.

Hello all, not sure if this was posted here previously as I could not find it but the soon to come Mytouch 4g slide comes with HTC's new Swipe(ish) IME which was pulled from the leaked Rom.
I downloaded and installed it just fine and it's pretty sweet, hopefully the theme makers can take it and theme it to match the available themes.
Enjoy
**Edit Voice input seems to be a bit buggy but everything else works great
nice!
any chance of getting german language to work on this?
what a nice keyboard. voice input doesn't seem to be working but its something i never use other than to show off to people
Thanks
Great keyboard. I find it is much better than the official swype beta and slideit
Pretty good keyboard imo.
Better than others. Thnx for sharing.
Screenshot pls ?

Thanks for sharing,
I hope other languages will be added soon
Has anyone figured out how to get voice recognition to work?
I have the pay version of this, but I like the way this looks. I find it works better as well.

Go into settings/language & keyboard. You have to check the keyboard as an option, then in a text field long press until you get the input option. Then you can select it

better than the Gingerbread Keyboard app posted here as well?
in terms of auto correct recognition?
Nice find. Seems smooth and efficient and works nicely with HyperDroid 2.1.
Thanks!

Uhm, warez? https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuance.flext9.input
So this is my first phone that doesn't have a physical keyboard and I'm having some trouble. I came from both Droid one and two and the LG touch so I have always had a physical keyboard and now without one I'm somewhat lost. So please anyone with a keyboard app recommendation please speak up!
P.s. I have big hands and tend to hit the wrong key because of that.

Swift key. It learns as you type. Once using if for a while it predicts almost everything you are going to type

I use flext9 because you can swipe the keyboard or use the keys normally, way smoother than swype IMO.

Definitely swift key! It's so good at predicting your words that some times it feels like it's reading your mind.

I've been using the gingerbread keyboard found in market. I find it fast and accurate.

+1 for swift key.
Well I already had swift key from it being the free app of the day so I loaded it up and started using it again and so far so good everything is at least better than the stock htc keyboard so I'm at least happy about that.

+1 been using this one as well and I love it. its called "keyboard from android 2.3 +" in the market. when installed it shows up as "gingerbread keyboard"
+1 for flex t9 if you like swyping or swift key for just regular keyboard use. Although t9 can do both, just doesn't predict.

+2.. I use the paid version, so I can bring up the directional arrows as needed. At $0.99 it isn't bad.

+3 lol paid too, deff worth it.
Keyboard from Gingerbread 2.3
There's a free and paid version. Best keyboard available.
+4 for gingerbread keyboard
i love how fast it is
I've also been using the gingerbread keyboard from the market for a while now (even back on my Droid X) and I love it.
I have used swype, swift and the GB keyboard.
For texting, landscape or portrait they are great.
The problem is for emails. Once you lay the phone over to landscape and start to type an email, the kbd takes up the whole screen. Is there a way to shrink the keyboard say 20% or so?
I got Gingerbread, the paid one
I had the G2, and Swype sucks on a bigger screen in comparison, not to mention Thunderbolt doesn't even come with it. I downloaded it and said wtf is this. Idk if its the screen or just not being pre-installed
I use the HTC_IME keyboard

Good day
Need some help here, which is the best T9 keyboard for the O2x?
I tried Better Keyboard but did not like it too much...
I'm using CM7
HTC_IME has one, I think?
