Ahoy!
I am expecting to receive my O2X tomorrow, and obviously looking forward to it. I've been trying to find a screen protector (and case ala casemate..) but so far havent been able to find any ready for delivery in Denmark.
While googling, I came across an unboxing video which seems to show a screen protector fitted from the factory??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgzQMyKJh8A
Can someone please confirm that a screen protector is already fitted when unboxed?
Also, any recommendations for a decent case for the O2X? I use a casemate barely there for my hd2, but havent been able to find similar cases for O2X yet.
Thanks!
My LG Optimus 2X Speed shipped with T-mobile from the Netherlands has a screenprotector on it.
Have been using it since last thursday and it's still on, and I'm not having any intention of taking it off

Same for mine (Telmore Denmark)
Thanks!
Thanks for the info, much appreciated - Guess I can stop googling and wait for cases to show up in webshops eventually
If you want something like the casemate, I would have gone for the official LG CCH-120 (which also has a kickstand). I'm looking for something to protect my LG Optimus 2X when moved around as well, but I'm more of a pouch guy. I wouldn't want to cover such a beauty! I found a neoprene pouch with a closing flap at Amazon.co.uk which would've fitted nicely, but they don't ship outside of the UK.

Yeah saw the CCH-120 and seems nice, but unknown delivery dates in denmark at the moment - will probably buy it later on when its released.
If I occasionally drop my phone its usually while im using it, making a pouch kinda pointless for me unless it lands on it

The O2X that 3 sells also comes with a screenprotector pre-fitted onto it.
So did mine is got from callme. I pulled it off, those protectors look even worse than scratches...

It is just for packaging and just remove that stuff not needed with gorilla glass anyway ;-)

thats not a screenprotector! Its just protection for shipment! Its on all phones just look @ some more unboxings.
Why use a screen protector when the O2X got Gorilla Glass?

lol - so true.
It's a crap plastic film that distorts the picture. Every phone made with a screen since 1990 comes with one...
Remove it immediately, it offers no practical protection for day to day use, it's to prevent minor scuffs in the box.
IMHO, I don't like paying for phone insurance so I'll usually case up my phone & screen protect it. This is my preferred company for screen protectors.
Its way too bloody expensive. I am not a soldier.
Go to Google Shopping and search for:
"LG Optimus 2X 3 Pack LCD Screen Protector Guard"
DONT remove the speech marks.
If you can't find it go to G5-Online DOT com
I paid total £1.79 for three screen protectors. What else do you want for a bit of plastic.
Military grade plastic my arse.
I use Zagg invisibleSHIELD on my X2. Its great.
I always thought that gorilla glass could not be scratched with metallic materials. But when put against a rock it will still scratch. Or is this info wrong??
if you do it hard enough or at the right point, it will scratch
Nobody here heard of ebay?
There are a lot of screen protectors and cases there. Just keep in mind they are often mislabeled SU-660 products, so have a good look at the pictures before you buy.
Screen protectors with a hole for the physical home button is for SU-660. Silicone covers with a hole in the corner next to the power button is for SU-660, will fit P990, but will have a useless hole in the corner. P990 covers usually don't have holes for power button and volume buttons.
If you prefer using screen protector, I would recommend buying more than the included one, as a plastic film isn't everlasting..

Can you explain more about "hard enough" and "at the right point"?

Two parts to this question-
1st part kind of a poll. Who thinks it is necessary or helpful to put a screen protector on the T-Mo HD2, and why?
Of course I want to protect the screen on my HD2, as much as possible. I think the screen is already scratch resistant, and I am not sure if a screen protector would add anything in that regard. I don't see how a screen protector could possibly protect against breakage, or internal LCD damage.
I have seen some reports, of screen sensitivity being diminished by screen protectors.
Of course the companies that make them, will try to sell people on it. That is called "manufactured demand", creating a need that isn't there.
Your opinion? Do they really help protect the phone?
I am about to purchase some items from Amazon. I see they have one screen protector (manufacturer Amzer) for $6.95 with free shipping (if total order is more than $25, which mine is). I haven't heard of that company before, but it sounds good from the description (no user reviews). (It even says "anti-reflective" and "free from fingerprints", and those are two problems the screen has--fingerprint magnet, and very reflective. Don't know if those claims are true though.) Has anyone tried this brand? Any good?
The link for that is: http://www.amazon.com/Amzer-Screen-..._14?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1281121428&sr=8-14
They even have some cheaper, a dollar or less, with $3 shipping. Do a search on Amazon for HD2 screen protector.
The following link includes a rubber case such as the one that comes with the unit, plus a screen protector, for $1.54 +2.98 shipping: http://www.amazon.com/HTC-T-Mobile-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281121428&sr=8-1
Another is only 46 cents plus shipping.
Are there really any differences in these? They are only tiny pieces of plastic. Seems like they should cost less than a buck, not $10 or $15, as some do.
In any case, I am thinking of getting the Amzer, as it can have free shipping with the rest of my order, and sounds good. Anyone here used it?
Still undecided though--whether there is any point in getting a screen protector at all, or just one of those "manufactured demand" products, that really doesn't help anything.
Opinions?
Between this forum and the official T-Mobile forum on their website, I'm seeing quite a few instances of shattered LCD screens from people dropping their HD2s. You'll also see that there are now many replacement screens showing up on eBay, for example. My point is that you might consider acquiring more than just a screen protector for your HD2.
I personally purchased an Otterbox Defender case for my HD2. It has a built-in screen protector as one of its layers of protection, and the multi-part case appears to thoroughly protect the phone (including from my 7 year old). There are lots of cases out there, so I'm not actually suggesting that you get one from Otterbox (and I don't work for them). Some people say, for example, the the Defender case is overkill, and makes the phone too bulky for their taste.
I'm just saying that a $100 to $300 phone might warrant more than a screen protector.
in my opinion there is no such thing as to much protection
My car has airbags everywhere ,but i still wear my seat belt
def put a screen protector, that is the first thing you do when you get a phone like the hd2
Most things break when you drop them... it's called gravity. There's no solution for clumsiness you'll have to get something like the otterbox for some gravity proof protection. I've considered getting the otterbox myself but it takes away so much of the aesthetics of the phone....
My HD2 has a screen protector and a well padded leather case.... i've been doing this for all my previous phones. Sure i've had some slips and tumbles but the leather case protects most the impacts no problems.

A tennis ball doesn't break when you drop it!
Seriously, one would think that they might have strong enough materials available today, so that a phoine would not break if dropped.
But certainly--a screen protector would not protect one iota against dropping!
What exactly, does a screen protector protect against?
Do you also put one on your laptop screen?
If scratches on the screen bother you, screen protector will help with preventing that. The HD2 is not as scratch resistance as some of the youtube videos lead you to believe. I am careful with mine and still manages to get some minor scratches on it. When it comes to preventing the phone from breaking during a drop, I think your best bet is a otterbox defender.
I put a screen protector on my HD2 I have no sensativity issues but the feel of the screen protector is obvious when you slide your finger on the screen. My wife does not have the screen protector and it feels smooth to the touch but there is no difference as far as sensativity goes I used a zagg invisible shiled.
No scratches on my screen eventhough I carry it with keys and coins in front pocket sometimes. Only cracked screen from dropping it! Getting Otterbox Commuter case for my new replacement HD2 but NO screen protector. This screen doesn't get scratched very easily at all.

Filed my insurance claim today, should get it tomorrow. Free next day air.
Oh, and bought commuter case too. A bit late it seems though..
No screen protector would have prevented that. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Probably not, but since that incident, i'm going all out.
Thanks for the links!
I have one of the Invisible shield covers on mine & i like the feeling of knowing if the protector comes off ill get to see the screen BRAND NEW while i'm replacing the cover.
On an ass-backwards note, i also have the Body Glove case with the kickstand from T-Mobile and the only reason is for the kickstand. It feels like if i dropped the phone the case would shatter my phone would be goin to bed dead.
I am pretty careful with my stuff but as others have mentioned, theres no such thing as too much... im probably going to order that same black case though.
as for the screen, you never know... i'd rather be safe than sorry. I feel putting a $10 screen protector on a $500 phone isnt a big deal.

Well, materials like that do exist, ones that could make the phone near indestructable. Unfortunately, they're prohibitively bulky or expensive and would jack up the price and/or size of the phone. The treated glass used on the screen is the best attempt at a compromise on this that's really available.
I've honestly been using my HD2 since March with nothing but the rubber cover that HTC provided in the box, and I have yet to get a single scratch on it...but, I know I'm probably just fortunate with that. I have a screen protector on my TP2, and I know that it's definitely saved me from scratches on a number of occassions....but then again that screen isn't anywhere near as hard as the one on the HD2.
I've got an otterbox commuter series case on the way now, but I'll probably try it without the screen protector at first. I reeeeeally like the feel of the bare glass

Corning developed a glass many years ago that was dubbed "Gorilla glass" for its toughness and durability. I used to work summers for them, and at the time it was a nice invention that no one could find a use for -- we didn't have widescreen computer monitors or HDTVs, or cell phones, for that matter. Besides, it was considered expensive to manufacture. I read recently that Corning is now testing this old, very tough but thin glass for use in large TV screens and, soon, for cell phone screens. Maybe this will increase the durability of the touch screens for future phones. But for now, cases and screen protectors (should) rule the day.

Yes, actually Gorilla glass has already been used on a cellphone (or more than one perhaps), I belive the Motorola Droid was the first one. From what I understand, the HD2 doesn't have the acutal Gorilla Glass, but rather some similar hardness treatment.

And to add to the whole screen protector on mine. I never had one until I dropped it and it landed face down on a pile of small hard dry rocks. Then slid across the ground. It made two small but noticeable deep scratches.

I should have figured that. I'm just not a fan of paying retail. Otterbox sells their cases for 50% more than sites like Amazon, NewEgg, and eBay. Now that the U.S. version's supply is becoming more available my guess is that these places will begin selling the U.S. version as well.
I dont know if any of you new but zagg has already a skin for our mobile
the screen protection in my opinion is bad (orange skin texture....) but the rest of the protection (the back and side) is good i mean...to me it doesn metter the texture in the rest of the phone (just in the screen) i will order the Full Body Maximum Coverage.

sorry for my bad english:S
do think twice before applying it....
cus it was too sticky, and my last experience is it tear off the original coating when i put it off..........
may be they have improved it and may be the optimus can tolerate such stickiness....
but think twice..... and good luck...
In my previous phone (samsung i8910) i have used it and nothing to blame except the orange texture on the screen and removed it with no problem at all. Maybe your protection had a defect....dont know its odd :S
still waiting for it
do you know if the display skin covers de curved glass on the edges of the display?
FYI, my experience with ZAGG products has never been spectacular. It's a soft plastic that is sticky on the outer side and get easily damaged.

I just got my full body today. I have been using the Zagg ones for my last three phones. I have tried to put it on the LG but but the small front left cut (the censors are) was supposed to be left behind when you pill the shield out but it didnt, this meat I had to pill it out on my own which took a lot of efford. I have taken the shiels out because the inside is now not as clear as it was when I first pilled it off. Any one any idea how to clean the screen side of the shield?
Installed Zagg Invisible Shield screen protector.
As people have mentioned it has a texture like an orange skin.
It's kinda "sticky" and adds alot of friction for the screen.
I don't mind the downsides since it fits really good and the screen is really well protected now.
To sum up: this product isn't for you if frictionless usage is important for you
Is it possible to get the original LG screen protector. I have a little scratch on it right in the middle and it is annoying.
I don't know if a new screen protector will help but is it possible?
EDIT
I've been searching around and at the G2x forum's they want screen protectors from phantom skinz, martin fields and Clarivue protector. The phantom skinz protector on the website is only for the G2x, but the O2x and the G2x look the same right? Only the software is a bit different.
Any thoughts

I was wondering what you guys thought of the tempered glass screen protectors I have been using one since I purchased my phone and I like it but I bought a cheapie one on eBay (nothing wrong with eBay I'm just saying even for eBay it was a cheap one) and its not sticking on the edge. I paid a little more for my wife's GlasT on her IPhone 5S and its perfect. So basically I wanted know if you guys think something out there is better than the tempered glass screen protectors before I dish out the money on a better one. Or is anyone else using a tempered glass protector having the same problem with it not sealing all the way to the edge. A buddy of mine has an G2 as well of a different brand and hes said the same thing happened to his. It doesn't look terrible just a small area all the way around the screen where it's not making contact.

UPDATE: I still have not experienced any edge-lifting. Note though, that i did NOT use the cleansing pad that they provided. I simply used alcohol and a cotton ball, no finger prints after cleaning whatsoever, then used the pink sticky film to remove all small particles from the cotton ball and any dust not seen by the nake eye.
But i will say though that the finger print resistance is almost non existant now. It really makes me appreciate how the stock glass is just that sweet. But all said and done, im satisfied to an extent.. if something comes out that is unanimously better than ill change.

When I bought my turbo in October or November, I also bought the "flexible glass screen protector for droid turbo" at the Verizon store. It is a little pricey at about $25, but I really like it. They had to order it for me and it was delivered straight to me.
For what it cost, I took it to them and had one of their employees put the screen on for me. I think he did a pretty nice job of it. I have no complaints, other than the high price. ?
As far as I can tell, it has no scratches on it, but, I try not to treat it rough. Also, it is very hard to see any smudges, etc that I get on it.
It did take me a little while to get used to its edges. If you swipe from the very edge of the phone, you can feel the edge. It kind of catches your finger. I have had no problems using it. At the same time I also bought the "Speck" case from them. I like it as well, but, it is also pricey.
Before this, I always used their belt clip. I do miss that, and, "may" one of these days replace the Speck with it. But, I think the glass screen is so much better than the plastic ones.
I would buy the glass screen again. (my opinion only)

Its not bad for the price.
I was just going to start a thread with the glass screen protectors that I've tried and whether it works or not. but just an fyi, I've used the ez guardz, they admitted to their current model having a design flaw; the edges of the screen protector doesn't adhere. Also the Ghostek I just received today has the same issue. There's one more I'm looking at on eBay and I'm going to stay away from the "flexible screen protectors" as those are the ones made by tech21 and I don't like the feel of them.

Looks like film, I have their screen protector for my moto 360, first batch was over sized, they then sent me the replacements which were a lot better. I know that it's a film protector & not tempered glass. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with it. I was also looking at the iVoler tempered glass sold on Amazon
The iVoler is great, with a few minor caveats:
• Follow instructions to the letter, making sure the screen is immaculately clean. Also, wear rubber gloves if possible. Even a minor trace of skin oils will result in spots that refuse to adhere, so be super careful.
• This particular item ships from Shengzhen, China, and takes about three weeks. Order a spare while you're ordering and waiting so ridiculously long for the item to arrive.
Aside from that, it seems to be just the ticket... It's coated, so it feels slick, stays clean and doesn't show fingerprints.
This company finally has one out, I have it on order today.

reporting back from my last purchase.
Tried this TEMPERED GLASS Screen Protector - Slim 0.33mm Super Hardness - Crystal Clear by COVRWARE - picked it up from amazon for $9.97
The glass itself is nice. It feels like the naked screen. It's a 9H and oleophobic. Unforunately the edge adhesive halos. It's cut slightly short of the edges to in an attempt to deal with the 2.5D screen edges.
you don't notice when the screen is on, but yeah it's not a edge to edge performing adhesive. so i've left it on, as i look for a better screen protector.
i'd love to see how that mime screen protector does.

Let me know if the edges stick that's really the only issue with most of them on the market right now. I don't even want to show my phone to others because of the parts of the screen protector that doesn't adhere. Waiting on a replacement for my ghostek, if that's the same then I'm off to trying a different one.
The edges on mine are all good, with the exception of two spots where my fingers made contact with the adhesive. My hands were clean and dry, but it apparently doesn't take much to impact the performance of the adhesive. I'd recommend wearing rubber gloves during application... Other than that, it's a great fit, and covers only the flat (non-rounded) surface of the screen.
Ok got the MIME today, typical package and install. Goes on good does not go the the edge but about like the xtreme one I had installed. This one sticks so far and feels way better slickness wise than the xtreme.

Interesting there's no cut out for the proximity sensor. Have you had any issues during phone calls? Make a phone call, and hold the phone away from your face. Does the screen still go on?
I've done quite a bit of reading on recommended tempered glass screen protectors and still not been able to develop an opinion of my own.
Would love to have everyone discuss some of their experiences and recommendations.
Here are a few of the one's I've found on Amazon for the G4:
ScreenMate
E LV
CaseBase
Orzly
amFilm
IQ Shield
SuperShields
I'm deciding too to which can be delivered to Singapore too.. I've never heard about Orzly brand before, any reviews about its durability?

Ever since I switched from Samsung and my Nexus 5 to the G3 and learned the hard way that it doesn't use gorilla glass, I've become kind of anal on tempered glass protectors. Ive been through 4 different ones so far on the G3 and can say it's hit or miss. Here's my rundown:
1. Perfect, I only had to replace because it cracked when the phone slipped out my pocket entering the Jeep. Saved my screen though! Tried to replace with the same one but it was out of stock
2. Misadvertised piece, returned immediately. The cutouts weren't to my preference
3. After installation, it scratched within an hour. Clearly wasn't "hardened, scratch resistant 9H blah blah". Tossed
4. Not exact cutouts but close enough (combined earpiece with camera in one oval). Still standing strong to date.
Personally I desire one that has exact, individual cutouts for the earpiece as it maintains aesthetics. I've even had a few coworkers examine it and couldn't tell that there was one applied to my G3 at all as it was practically seamless.
I'd say go with this one E LV just based on their image. That said I've returned one because product didn't match the image.
If you find one you like buy 2 more! They're cheap enough and you never know when a spare will be needed (RMA, crack, etc)
Here my " perfect" unit GLAZZ
Mime have also released their tempered glass screen protectors for the G4. I had their ghost glass for the S4, and it's held up pretty well. Hasn't cracked yet in two years, even after numerous falls on hard and concrete floors.

I aso do some research on the tempered screen. But no luckly still not find a good one.
ive done alot of research on all these glass screen protectors and a new skinomi tempered glass came out, its on amazon. I'm picky about the cutouts and it looks like this one is fully covered with all the right specs (9H, oleophobic, rounded edges, etc) it just has a cutout for the earpiece speaker. im ordering this one, ive already ordered the tech matte one from the win droid guys review but returning because i dont like the cutouts or the non-oleophobic surface.

Thats the same one I ordered. I also ordered the LG G4 Clear HD Screen Protector for $1 after the coupon code AFIU8VKL. Should get them before end of next week. Phone looks like I will have today. I'll use the Glass and keep the other for a backup just in case something happens to the glass one.
Code works only on Ships from and sold by Skinomi not Amazon

Same here. I was able scheduled it to arrive 10 days earlier thru Amazon.ca - and I'm in the US!
I bought the E LV and it went just fine, it only has the cutout for the speaker. Not sure if that's going to be an issue or not, I've had glass protectors that made the phone do weird things when the cameran and prox sensor are not cut out. So far, I'm satisfied, but It's been on about 15 mins lol.
Edit: I don't recommend the E LV tempered glass protector. Its a MASSIVE finger print magnet, oleophobic my backside. Its nearly impossible to clean smudges off this screen.

Actually I bought the 2 ScreenMate Light tempered glass... I haven't applied yet, because I am getting my G4 next week.. I was worried about the tempered glass, because it was bent!
So I contacted Iloome to know if it was defective... They said " The protectors come out slightly bent like that for maximum adhesive once applied to the phone. "
Either way, I believe I did right thing because I bought each one for $8!!!!! I will update when I get my Lg G4 H815
You might get more opinions from the tempered glass thread created before yours: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/accessories/tempered-glass-t3098164

You know the G4 is curved...right? heh
lol
true!
I got the Supershieldz. They sent the one I ordered then sent another one saying the 1st one was defective.
Well I'm using the defective one and although it fits fine, there is a small bubble in each if the 4 corners. It's slowly gone away but you can still see it. Because of the curved glass I assume.
Haven't tried the newer, fixed one but I now have a spare.
