Can you restate your question? I don't understand.
Also, this is certainly not development. Thread reported so it may be moved.

Ive never heard of windows 7 desktop for the SGS. are you thinking of the Windows phone 7 theme ?? type it in the search bar and see if thats what you mean.

I think he wants the desktop to look like Windows (Phone?) 7.

I think its called Launcher 7, you can find it on the market. Correct me if i'm wrong!

And here I thought he wanted to RDC into his Windows 7 desktop...
Yeah my guess he wants the Windows Phones 7 look, in that case Launcher7 from the Market is the way to go, works pretty well.
Vague questions FTW

Update:
I think i know it. Its called Android Seven (lite). You can find it on the market. It mimics the Windows desktop you find on your pc.

Its like saying the world is round in the dark ages.
I think he is seriously looking at Windows 7 Professional that we run on our desktops to run on our sgses. And not a bad idea, only problem is how will the phone architecture support x86!

I will try to restate my next questions when posting. Thank you guys

Windows 7 Beta

Microsoft just opened up Windows 7.... Just when Vista is even more screwed up. Either way it looks cool.

Check it out.
What about compatibility with programs and games? Did u try it?
I never really had any issues with Vista but from what i've played with in Windows 7 it's fantastic.

I suspect we'll at the very least see the Diamond, Touch Pro and maybe the Blackstone (depending if the guys at MS have one I guess), I'm also not seeing any PPC powered devices on this list so they could still be seperate?
Do you know if this includes devices connected via a network share? On one of my networks I have a brother MFC that's connected to one of my switches and it's a bit of a PITA to manage.
windows 7 x64 rocks
i really like the new interface of windows 7 especially the new task bar....and its works like a charm....

I dont mate sorry
I just downloaded it finally but will try it when I get home close to my restoral CD's. I am interesting in the newer device center. Other than that my major questions were pertaining to games and graphics. We all know how the majority of us got jacked over with Vista when it was released with KNOWN graphics problems. If Microsoft ignores the gaming community they will find that many loyal fans who have not left yet will go towards Linux or Apple. I have always loved Linux over MS anyway but have gained a newer resect for apple.... Well kind of.
Bogus
Original post indicates it is win mob 7. WRONG!!!
It is actually Windows 7 OS beta release which is probably what Vista should have been.
4 days of 7 x64...it's amazing. About Device Stage, I think there was something on MSDN about that. I'll go dig it up, I guess. In the end, it's all XML and *should* be pretty easy to do.
I've been running Win7 x64 since Sunday with no issues whatsoever. So far, I love it. It's great. The redesigned taskbar is very intuitive and easy to use. I love the new network manager applet; it behaves like network-manager in Linux. That is, a single click shows a menu-style list of available networks, and another click will get you connected. Win7 also (finally) includes native support for burning ISO images, which makes me thrilled.
I'm not so thrilled that it inherited UAC (running UAC is like always wearing a condom in case you trip, slip, and fall on a prostitute in the shady back room of a hotel in a bad neighborhood), but it's at least got better controls for it via msconfig. Still, I straight-up disable that crap.
Also, the Action Center does a great job alerting the user about potential hardware issues, and it gave me direct download links for getting the proper drivers for my HP dv6700 notebook's card and fingerprint readers.
Additionally, it seems much snappier than Vista. I'm sure that will change in the final release, especially once OEMs get to bog it down with their bloatware, but it's nice for now.
Only complaint is that Chrome won't run on Win7
Other than that, way to go MS!
I've had Win 7 of my laptop for a few months, the only issue I have is it doesn't really work when browsing my network.
I installed the leaked build 6801 back then, since the public release I ran windows update and nothing happened. Does that mean I need to clean install the new release?
I´ll wait for a stable version, just geting used to vista and I´m not an expert so I prefer to wait a few months
What do you mean? This version is stable?
Many people are saying they think really it's past beta and about ready to be launched...

It is EXTREMELY stable. I haven't been able to crash it yet, and believe me, I've been trying.
And it dual (or triple, in my case) boots quite well, so you've got nothing to lose if you want to give it a 20GB partition just to play with it. The current licenses are only good til 1 August anyway, so I'm not looking to use it as a permanent solution.
And it's really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, easy to use. So dive in

Yes, Windows 7 was the correct title of the thread but I did catch that I states windows 7 mobile in opening thread box. Sorry about that everyone. I was rading articles on Windows Mobile 7 and looking at Windows 7 at the same time. I have high expectations for both. I will be installing Windows 7 tonight and I will let you know how it runs on my laptop. Hopefully it better manages video memory than Vista does...

crome doesn't (I don't use it though, because their security is abysmal it's on the same level as safari on windows. but to every man his own) but it does work, you have to run the exe with a certain argument. search at live.com or google.com to find it. I saw it today in my RSS reader.
I'll try to find it for you.

Windows 7 is so large I doubt this would be possible. Even tablet makers are shying away from using Windows 7 because it is so slow on such hardware.

SPB Shell 3D

So instead of putting pictures up you should have a look at this review because there is a lot more to it Pocketnow review of SPB. It's not of the streak but just imagine the bigger screen.
I will just add my two bits. I like utility in a gadget but one of my major pet peeves with technology is usability. A good program should have the ability to be usable without a good deal of instruction.
I find this launcher very intuitive and, contrary to the couple of mentions in the video above, sometimes going a little extra on the eye candy without much utility is what it's all about. I really like this, the way it looks, the way it feels and also the way I can show a couple of simple animations that really dress up my tab even though they may have no real utility. After all, what do you think the competition is doing?
Original Post:
Just tried out this launcher. I've ben waiting for it to come out on android because I thought it would be a good tablet launcher.
Just so no one wastes their time or money; it says not for tablets. It its woefully under-res making it look ugly and their is no landscape mode.
If these two things were fixed it would be perfect. It was very nicely layed out, smooth and practical. I will keep my eye on updates and post if there its anything worth downloading here. A for now, I am not a visual snob by any means, but only spend the money on this if you have severe eyesight issues. It's definitely not something that will make your friends jealous of your tab.

No there is no landscape view but I have found more and more that I am using my streak in portrait mode and it suits me just fine. Just posted a video, see OP.
i dont understand you have not said if it supports tablets also , you speak as if your running this on the streak 7 , if not what does this have to do with anything in GENERAL about the streak

I've been looking at this software. The web site says it won't support tablets, but the Streak uses similar resolution to a high end cell phone, and Android 2.2.2 is actually a cell phone OS, so I imagine it may very well install on the Streak. I believe that is what the OP meant.
But it wont...without cracking the app open and editing it ...

Please see my updated post above. I got this for my captivate but have found out that it works GREAT on my streak (after an initial update). I find myself using my tab in portrait mode most of the time so lack of landscape view is not a big issue to me at all.

What exactly was your experience? Did you try and install and it would not install?
The Streak is using a phone OS (2.2.2), and the screen resolution is the same as my HD2 phone: 480X800. And the S7 supports OpenGL. I sent an email to SPB asking why it would not work with the S7. I'll post the reply.

I don't live on xda or on my tablet so yes it does take time for me to post pictures. I just wanted to start my very first contribution to the steak forums because I have been anticipating spb since ces and I am really happy with my purchase.
It works without any hacking, just download from the market. True story.what further proof could I possibly offer?
Post a video and shut me up I post those pics because you seem to be the only person with a working tablet period with spb on it I dont care about the phone screen size when I downloaded this it hanged for 5 minutes then told me device is not supported and force closed show a video because that could be a screen shot from your captive

[Q] Windows Phone 7 on the Nexus One?

Ahh, Amiga...good old days indeed! True preemptive multitasking OS, intuitive GUI in Workbench, and the graphics and sound fidelity... mmm... in 1987! Microsoft could not boast of that complete set of features in a consumer OS until Win 95. After my C64 I briefly had an Amiga. Then I moved to the States and got an Intel 386 box running MS-DOS and Win 3.1. Faster chip, more memory, and more hardware flexibility, to be sure...but the OS was a giant step back.

Im not sure windows rt is really what you're looking for. I believe multitasking will be like android (unload apps to conserve ram), "tablet" apps are up to the developer, and "desktop" apps won't run at all. What you think you want is windows 8, but you will have to give up more than you think to get those. Rt is the basically a middle ground between windows 8(x86) and phone. (arm)

Remember that windows and android are not just two different operating systems, but to completely different TYPES of operation systems. Android is open source so you can port it to whatever and hack it to run on different devices. You can only do that to windows with Microsoft's permission, and help. Microsoft doesn't even sell windows rt, let alone let you run it on an android device. You have to pay for Windows RT by buying a device with it installed, and even then you have no right to transfer it to another device.
So the limitations are not just technical, but legal due to its closed source nature and the way it is sold. Android is limited only by the (likely closed source) drivers or lack thereof for the device.

Maybe what you want is Win8 on your pc/laptop, and then splashtop streamer. They claim multitouch works via their software..

Agreed. Most people don't understand that there are 2 versions. Pro and RT. RT is a scaled down version that won't run your typical desktop applications. Pro is what you want (if you want windows in a tablet).
I ran Windows 8 DP on my old Asus EP121 slate tablet (which was a real i5 64-bit machine) it I liked the overall experience. I ran photoshop and other powerful applications, however, the efficiency was no better than 65-70%... The ergonomics just weren't there for productivity. Diverse yes, but I'd prefer a laptop or desktop any day for real tasks. Every form has its function I suppose.
The two versions are due to Windows beeing a fat old OS, can't run properly on the ARM processors.
You will need a x86 processor to run all the old legacy stuff, windows fan boys can't live without (expect fat x86 tablets with fans).
RT Version fills the void of the fact windows just needs more juice to run on the new ARM hardware, so they made this version expecting anyone will use it... We all know Windows people, if they can't run word/excel on some hardware, it is not worth buying.
RT version is starting with a almost empty ecosystem... (no, you can't run normal windows x86 programs on RT)

i know exactly what RT is. yes, i can't run third party desktop apps, no, i don't care.
it's a TABLET os, with a small set of desktop apps built in.
and android is a tablet os without that set of apps.
i'd much rather run win rt on my nexus - especially after trying ubuntu on it (with full chromium), i feel that android is holding that thing back.
and as for the article, well, it's a bad rep who's been fired. and one thing i found suspicious is that kevin didn't try to install chrome when he just got the tablet - it's mentioned that he loves it so much and all.

we don't have rotation lock and start buttons. you can still access start through the charms bar, and we could handle no lock rotation.
as for the resolution, it is only a requirement to pass microsoft certification. windows rt still supports other resolution. so with nexus 7's 1280x800 resolution, the only thing not working would be app snap.
The feedback towards Windows 8 RT (while not unsupported) seems to be a bit unfair. There is just so much report for Windows 8. They have a solid dev foundation which allows for much better quality software. While I love my Android devices, as an educator, I've noticed its missing the support from key software developrers.
