Hi all!
Does anyone know if the Rogers Dream will work on a 2100MHz HSPA network?
The Rogers product page says it does:
http://www.rogers.com/web/link/wire...oductType=normal&productId_Detailed=DREAMBLKR
BUT the official HTC page say that it doesn't:
http://www.htc.com/ca/product/rogersdream/specification.html
I should probably trust the HTC page, but I did some googling and some reviews of the phone also say that it supports the 2100 band.
Thanks!
Hi alls, I wish I had better news to bring. The good news is, as expected, the 2X runs stock Froyo.
Now the kicker: as you are all probably aware, At&t has gobbled up T-mobile. This means that when the transition is complete (expected a year to 18 months from now) At&t will drop T-Mobile's 3G bands to EDGE.
It may not affect some owners but for me, I usually keep a device until a big hardware refresh comes about- like a quad-core chip. I'm skipping the 2x for the Galaxy II or the Optimus 3D. I was on the verge of owning this...
Luckily the normal 2X do support UMTS 1900 (one of the 3G bands AT&T use), that's why I am consider buying it off contract from other place and use it on AT&T

Let me understand: do you mean the non-US version of the 2x, the off-contract US retail model, or both? Thanks!
It's been reported that the G2x will support T-Mo *and* AT&T bands:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/4231/lg-optimus-2x-coming-to-usa-as-tmobile-g2x-
UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA Support 1700 / 2100 (AWS) / 1900 / 850 MHz
So you can rest assured that T&A-Mobile will support the bands on your phone right through to the bitter end of HSPA over AWS, right?
Ha! I was spying Engaget & Giz all afternoon yesterday & the announcement was made @ Anand...! Thanks for the heads up!
at&t hasn't officially bought T-Mobile yet -_-
An acquisition of this magnitude might not even be legal, it has to be approved by the FCC and the DOJ
Just checked the specs on this new phone on the T-Mobile spec sheet that was posted on T-MO News ad and that device supports both T-Mobile and AT&T's 3G Networks. I had to recheck it over 10 times during the day in case it was a miss print and they are still posted.
Has anyone else found any news that is different???

Yes, this says different. (Dang it, I can't post links. Search on Engadget.com for "T-Mobile G2x lacks quadband HSPA+, shatters dreams")
That said, I'm still curious to find out if anybody else has tried the the 2X or the G2x on AT&T yet. I'm not smart enough to understand what the lack of 850 3G means. Is that an upload speed? So would I be able to download zippily on the 2100 Mhz band but my upload would take forever?
Seeking original poster or the multitudes smarter than me for answer.

Further adding:
I'm interested in potentially buying the Optimus 2X (900/1900/2100 UMTS) not the G2x (1700/2100 UMTS). Anybody able to explain why the 2X may not work with AT&T, or share experience with it working?
The 2x will give you 3G on only the 1900 band with At&t, and not on the 850 band. So your 3G coverage will be worse than phones designed for the carrier. It will not get 3G on T-mobile.
You may as well just wait for the "Thrill 4G".

what are the speed test for this phone on tmobile?
and so if it dosent get 3g will it be getting edge?
Just in case someone finds this thread again, the G2X DOES NOT support *any* AT&T 3G frequencies:
http://www.phonedog.com/2011/04/27/...-quad-band-hspa-plus-won-t-work-with-at-t-3g/
It was a screw-up by T-Mobile to say it did.
Gsmarena shows that there are two versions of P990(not P999 G2X), one with HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 and the other with HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100. I have a P990, but the box is missing. I wanted to use the phone on WIND(AWS only) and so wanted to know whether there is anyway of knowing whether the phone supports 1700(AWS) frequency from the phone itself(maybe some dialer code). I know I can do it on my Vibrant by going into the service mode.
There is only one P990, but there is a P990h that supports 850/1900/2100
The only AWS one is the G2X/Wind O2X.

I thought the same initially, but was a bit confused after I saw gsmarena showing the phone supporting 1700 3G band.....does anyone have a P990 with AWS frequncy support..
I read this thread while Googling and made an account to ask a question because now I am really confused.
So if I buy the P990 from Asia, will it work on Wind/Mobilicity? GSMArena says it has the 900/1700/2100 bands (LG site says P990 supports Edge 900/1700/2100, but what is EDGE?) but this thread says that only the G2X/Wind O2x P999 supports AWS? Is there a difference?
I reckon the 900/1700/2100 bit on GSM Arena is a balls up, although it's not their fault. LG UK's website actually states that they are the WCDMA frequencies for it, but on the box is 900/1900/2100.
EDGE is the 2G frequencies, which are 850/900/1800/1900 on the box.
Thanks, did more digging and the info I found is 100% in agreement with you.
So pretty much only the T-Mobile and Wind version of G2x/O2x support AWS will work on Wind and Mobilicity.
Hi all,
I've spent the last few hours searching google and this forum, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a LG Optimus Black but don't have the box to know the specifications. I want to buy a T-mobile sim card for my phone, but can't figure out if it will support T-mobile's 1700/2100 3G network. According to GsmArena (and other sites) there is 2 versions of the P970 one with the 1900 Mhz band and one with the 1700 band, I don't know which one my phone is.
How can I know which band my phone supports? I have a model number, IMEI, and S/N. Is there any app or program that would be able to tell me what band my phone supports?
Thanks in advance.

yeah, by providing your IMEI and product code, they will know the specific specification.
I also have US T-mobile HTC Sensation, frequency works very well in my country (900/1800/2100)

I called up they claimed that since it's a international phone they don't know. Perhaps I'll try calling tomorrow LG in the UK.

I just called LG in the UK they also claim they don't know. This is getting kind of annoying. I want to know if I can buy a T-mobile sim card.
I have the LG P970 and with my t-mobile USA Sim, 3G does not work. It only uses the GSM Edge signal. It works fine with AT&T 3G.

So you have the 1900 Mhz version of the P970, since At&t's UMTS network uses 850/1900.
Humm just bring your phone to T-mobile booth or branch and test it

T-Mobile USA's 3G/4G(UMTS/HSPA+) AWS REQUIRES 1700mhz + 2100mhz combined. If your phone has only 1700mhz, it won't work (and no, it won't work "1/2"). You'll just get defaulted to EDGE speeds (which practically all GSM phones support)
the
P970 has HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100
and the P970H has HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
so i think the original version would work...
Came back from the U.S and AT&T 3G works fine.
I Wanted to know if lg optimus 2 x will work on at&t 3g and t mobile 3g .....someone selling 1 for 225 is that a good price?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I know it might be late, but from GSMArena:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100
HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100
as I posted in another thread...I was only able to get 2G(Edge) on my o2x when I used the phone on T-MOBILE in the US

Well, it depends on the type of o2x you have.
I have an SU660, which unlike what's written in the GSM Arena, does not have 1700 band. So, I learned the hard way and found out a little too late (which I also noted about this in another post) that mine cannot use 3G on T-mobile USA.
OP's O2X is P990, which should work on AT&T. See here:
