[Q] Froyo keyboard on 1.1 NC? - Nook Color General

I recently rooted my NC and am enjoying the experience very much. Just hated the Droid keyboard that came with Auto-Nooter but managed to get the Gingerbread keyboard installed and working. Its better but not as nice the Froyo keyboard so I have to ask: anyone managed to extract the Froyo keyboard as a package and got it working on NC 1.1 ?

[Q] Gingerbread keyboard isn't in word mode for the email app

I'm using Simply Honey 3.1 and the gingerbread keyboard works great in all the apps.
It's in character mode when using the terminal emulation (so it doesn't suggest words or correct commands), and it most other apps it's in word mode.
For some reason the keyboard is in character mode the email app (using an exchange account).
Is there a fix for this? Can I control the mode of the keyboard?
Thanks,
Chris
can u share the apk of the keyboard? i have the stock version of 2.3 jvb and all the gingerbread keyboards i found dont support multitouch
I double checked and it happens with the stock android keyboard also.
For the Gingerbread keyboard you can install it from the Market, or find it in numerous posts here. I do remember reading there was an issue with multitouch keyboards in the stock GB roms. Try a custom ROM, you'll never go back to the Samsung crap.

I need a better keyboard

I have successfully used manualnooter to root my 1.2 nook. But unlike the 1.1 autonootering, i cant get a new keyboard to install. Any body have any ideas?

I recently got a Swype working on mine (there is a thread here detailing it) however, before that I was using SlideIT which is a paid app but works much like Swype...just not as good.
SlideIT (There is a demo to try it first)
Another popular free keyboard is the Gingerbread keyboard. I used that on my Archos 101 that I had before the Nook and it was pretty solid.
Here is the Gingerbread one
Or you can go really old school back to the day of the PalmOS (I used to type fast as hell on my old Visor) with the Graffiti deal.
This is the free one, but there is a paid one as well.
I never did manage to make the swype keyboard work. is there an easy install guide anywhere? has anyone else managed to make it work?
I managed to get swype and the gingerbread keyboard working.
You have to use root explorer (or something else like it) and give the apk full permissions after you place them in the System\apps folder.
After that a reboot and they are there...
Thanks guys

[Q] Installed Swype Beta...want old swype back!

I installed the Swype Beta to try it out, thinking that as a newer version I would like it more. However what I found was that I was way more accurate, and enjoyed a few small functional characteristics of the old (default with galaxy s) swype. Does anyone have an APK for this for JVH?
Thanks
Can anybody get me the APK for the default Swype
Last call for a default Swype APK

[Q] Picture viewer problems

I have a Samsung galaxy S i9000 with gingerbread 2.3.4 installed and rooted and nothing else installed.
When i go in to gallery to view my pictures and i swype to go from one to the next one it does not move smooth like it did in froyo it`s not a fluid move its a interrupted movement. Did not have this problem on froyo. i re-installed the os powered off the phone stopped most apps and services but the problem did not go away. Any suggestions ? It did this before and after i rooted it. did it on fresh install of 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 on 2.2 froyo did not had this problem. Any suggestions ? except the one that says go back to froyo ?
Well, just a suggestion, use Picturen Lite or Quickpic.
I know this doesn't actually answers your question, but the stock gallery is not that great.
I use QuickPic. It's without doubt the fastest and least cluttered gallery app out there. It's free but would pay for it! Give it a try
