Has anyone deved a kernel or am I the only on in the streak community. developed one for the Vibrant, however it was quickly replaced when supercurio released voodoo for the vibrant. I can't hang with him. He is the kernel master, but, others have asked him to assist and said he was not going to help us out at all.

Thats the question.
I have been reading their forum and tweets... and all i see is Vibrant here, Vibrant there... nothing for i9000?
vibrant is i9000
unless you are refering to the USA version of vibrant which is SGH-T959

I'm sure for the purposes of the forums people refer to the us model as the vibrant the european model as the i9000 and the canadian vibrant model as i9000m... I read that somewhere in one of the sticky's. Therefore assume he would be talking about the european i9000
The Vibrant isn't exactly the same as the international I9000 (and is, in fact, an SGH T959). However, they are both Galaxy S series phones, and are both GSM. They have far more similarities than differences.
Once CyanogenMod is available for the Vibrant, I have little doubt that it will be ported to the international i9000 and the Captivate, at least.
i mean the european GT-I9000
Cyanogen mod is coming, you can see them talking about it being ported on their forums now, and iirc the dev said that they are working on it.
If you know what you are doing you can even make your own version of it now (mind you its not fully functional and buggy)

There was recently a tweet from one of the main devs working on Cyanogen for Galaxy S saying that his work was only for the Vibrant model... So perhaps international users have to wait longer for a port once the vibrant version is released
Yes, the international/European i9000 is what I was talking about. You won't be able to directly install the Vibrant CM6 ROM, but I don't think it will take much to port it. These phones are very similar indeed.

I imagine that this would be because that particular dev only has a Vibrant to work on, and so that is where he can best do his work for the time being. Since the cyanogen guys have to work across a lot of different phones and don't turn much of a profit, I wouldn't say it is unreasonable to see an individual dev only pick up one SGS varient.
However, the vibrant is DEEPLY similar to the euro SGS, and I can't see why a Vibrant ROM would be so dissimilar to a euro ROM as to require anything more than testing and tweaking.
Basically, don't worry. I bet ya a pound to a penny that they will put out a full set of SGS ROMs rather than doing it piecemeal.
Hi all,
I have a Telstra i9000T (I'm in Australia, so I need the 850MHz band) and I'm pretty disappointed in the experience after coming from a Nexus One. Does anyone have any suggestions or can anyone confirm any working custom ROMs which can be used on the i9000T safely?
All the reading I've done has seen little mention of the Telstra model, save for the rooting methods and a bit of general stuff. I would ideally like a stock-standard ROM, as I'm not a big fan of TouchWiz (and definitely not the typical Telstra bloat) and had a paid version of LauncherPro on my Nexus, which I loved. I've had no trouble rooting, but haven't tried a lagfix yet as noone seems to know about the i9000T.
I see that CyanogenMod seems to be booting on the Vibrant now, and Bionix was another one I was looking at. Does anyone with an i9000T have any experience (or any luck) with flashing custom software?
Edit: Also, has anyone had any luck with a lagfix on this model? I just tried OCLF and got a 'Permission Denial' error, something to do with sending the 'Flight Mode' command. Is it worth giving Voodoo a crack?
Thanks in advance!
You can try Voodoo for the lagfix, looks like it's the best one so far

Also, Galaxy S is missing a great deal of update / optimisation as of now :| Kind of tricky but I assume waiting for the Froyo update from samsung would give a great boost (and overall better srability). As for the release of thoses updates, speculations says mid october
Many thanks t1, appreciate the tip. I think I'll have a go at Voodoo, it sounds like it does what I'm after.
I am really disappointed in the software of this phone. I've generally always had HTC devices, but decided it may be time to branch out a bit (and I don't mind the design). Kinda makes me wish I hadn't. Haha.
Roll on the middle of October then!
Cheers,
Justin
Hey all,
I am new to the fascinate (but coming from Captivate) and I was curious if any of our Devs could make a simple app that could allow us to customize how we undervolt our overclocked kernals. There is one that I have for my captivate but support for it was dissolved when the dev who created it decided to only focus on specific i9000 kernals, and unfortunately the version that still works on my captivate will not install on the fascinate. The newest version will however install, but it requires one of the supported i9000 kernals
Does anyone have the know-how to develop an app for this purpose? I found that when undervolting my over-clocked kernals to my phone's ability I could maximize battery life as well as the internal heat, while still having the phone in beast mode with OC's around 1.3ghz.
Can you link the source for it? I personally can't dev, but it may interest some devs.
I've seen it for the GSM kernels, but I don't know if it would work for our phones as the way the CPU frequency and power management is setup is entirely different from the GSM models. I agree that it was a great idea, but it looked to be over my head on how it was done.

Sorry I know how to flash roms, kernals, etc. but no clue how to do anything else

Can you link the original thread?
There wasn't one, it was included in a few roms until he decided to partner with a certain dev to only support specific kernals. I have a several of the different versions including the older one that still works for all of the captivate kernals, I could post the apk if that would help. Would that be wrong to post his work though?
Nevermind, found this, hope it helps!

Probably due to VZW_AUTH stuff.
As the title says, how do I do this? (is it possible). I'm currently on serendipity 7 and I love the rom. Problem I have is the same prob I have with all GB roms, and most I9000 roms, (I'm an I897), call quality. Through trial and error I have found that jl2 and jl3 modems offer the best quality for myself and the people I am speaking with, however I would really like to increase the volume in my earpiece. It's ok, but it's a lot lower than any kb1 I've used. I have the volume all the way up, and sometimes it's a struggle to hear the person I am speaking with. I have sgs tools and I've investigated in the volume controls of the audio section. Problem is there are so many options for tweaking and I don't want to just go in and start increasing numbers that I don't know what they're for. Any guidance on which numbers I should increase to hopefully solve this issue? Also, galaxy tuner gives me issues, mostly just not working, so I don't think this is an option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I searched this before posting, and didn't find what I was looking for.
There's a Serendipity sticky in this forum for exactly these kinds of ROM-specific questions. Please use them. <---Smiley to avoid being characterized as a "****" again.
Not calling you a ****, but if you read my post, my question isn't rom specific. It's referring to all GB roms and I9000 roms in my experience. Can anyone else help?

In-call volume is a known Cappy problem that is fixed in many of the custom ROMs available here. Some do a better job than others, but it is a ROM-specific issue.
I say try a rom that is based on kb1 the official froyo build. The kb1 kernel had the proper drivers fire the audience chip used in the captivate. The I9000 uses a different chip so all I9000 roms will not have the use of the audience chip for noise cancellation.
Roms like cognition and fusion might be worth a shot.
Thanks studacris. I actually am running cog 4 on my other cappy, I just love using my gb cappy more. Just hoping there was a way to get same/similar call volume as my cog phone. So is tweaks with sgs tools useless with the gb/I9000 roms? Are you the captivate creator? You know everything bout this phone! Lol!

Lol. I have no idea about the sgs tools tweaks, I get about 1 call a week never really looked into it myself.
I don't blame you for wanting gb it's pretty sweet, I haven't gone to froyo since I made the jump. If you want audience chip support and gingerbread goodness keep an eye on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125596
This should be in the sticky, thread closed.

Hi,
So I have gone and bought voodoo sound, and would like to get it running in CM7, but it looks like I will need a kernel added for that to work. Does anyone know one that is good, or any other ways around this? Otherwise I'll have to go back to stock, and that would make me a very sad panda.
I would post on the voodoo sound thread, but I dont have enough posts to join in on a thread in the devs section
Cheers!
EDIT: finally found Skynet kernel, seems to be working fine. Yey. Linky:
