I have an unbranded I9000 from Virgin Mobile UK.
The reason it was sent to me unbranded is because the Virgin branded ones
couldn't be updated from v2.1 to v2.2, so Virgin started sending out unbranded ones with 2.2.1 pre-installed.
So, my question is will I be able to update my SGS directly from Samsung without having to wait for Virgin to approve the Firmware?
Many thanks for any answers given.
Ray
If you have product code XEU rather than VOD then yes.
That's good news. My product code is indeed XEU. I was worried I wouldn't be able to update to the upcoming Gingerbread as Virgin have now discontinued selling the SGS.
Many thanks for your quick response. That has made my day.

Hey guys!
Just wanted to know if it's possible or okay to flash an Asian based SGS with European software...I was interested in checking out the beta releases with Froyo but they're only available as European firmware.
My phone was purchased from the US but it was apparently sourced from Singapore since it had Singtel stuff on it. I flashed it to generic Asian firmware and then updated it with Samsung KIES which gave me the Asian firmware upgrade (DXJG4) free from Singtel customizations (yay!)
And another question...which firmware do you guys recommend to stick with until Froyo is officially released? Like which firmware do you guys experience the least "black screens" or stalling/lag? I don't want to be installing random fixes just yet so I was hoping there's a firmware out there that has less or none of these issues.
Thanks in advance!

You can, just avoid the US/i9000M/i9008/Korean ROM's. But with XXJG1-JG5 roms on my singtel, I found the GPS didn't pick up a single sat.
I recommend XXJM5 currently.. GPS is usable (but still drifts, and doesn't respond when making sharp corners well), and everything which works on other roms seems to still work.
In regards to Froyo, don't bother. It's a fun play for a short time, but there are very few benefits, and plenty of serious disadvantages still (because JP1-JP3 still are in an early testing stage).
Also, it isn't known how service centres deals with flashing other regions firmware (and if they care enough to cancel warranty).
I also have an Asian SGS and im wondering if w/c is better JG5 or JM2.. Im still on our latest official firmware at JG4
can anyone share their experience of using european firmwares on asia models. i want to know too

hi, where can you see what product code is it?
thanks
Cabsg is available on productcode XEE (Nordic) too, so its not asia specific for some odd reason.
Sent from my personal Dis-organizer GT-I9000
Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has had the chance to upload the 3australia firmware somewhere?
I was told it was the hvjh1 from wp forums but when I downloaded it and flashed it was vodafone branded.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Three/Vodafone Australia do not sell the Galaxy S so no firmware for them.
Vodafone in the UK does sell the Galaxy and yes you installed the firmware for them.
VHA ( Vodafone Hutchison Australia ) wich is vodafone and 3 do sell galaxy S. Vodafone one is vodafone branded and 3 one is 3 branded. No idea where the firmwares are though. Vodafone firmware would be nice

Would appear your right Vodafone and Three both list the Samsung Galaxy S.
I to would be interested in finding out what firmware they have installed as I'm on the Three network.
Spoke to Richthofen some time ago about firmwares for Australia but only the CSC for OPTUS was available.
So might ask him again.
I´ll post these once my keys are renewed
Should not take too long.
Would love to get the Vodafone Aus one as I got my phone from Optus but I'm now with Vodafone.
Thanks in advance for your efforts Richthofen

Yes that would be great. I too purchased from Optus but i am on 3AUS network.
I did however install the HVJH1 posted in samfirmware, the code was:
PDA: i9000HVJH1
Phone: i9000HVJG3
CSC: i9000VAUJH1
BUT....all the voda apps/links point to Voda US not AUS. I assume "VAU" in CSC means Voda AUS.
In any case im more interested in the 3AUS rom. It'll be much appreciated to get my hands on it.
Hi there I am new here. I recently upgraded to a new white T Mobile locked Galaxy S 2. Everything is fine but Kies is telling me that I have the latest firmware. It says I have 2.3.3 but I thought the latest firmware was 2.3.5?? Does anyone know when 2.3.5 is coming to T Mobile UK GS2?? Sometimes I wish I had gone sim free but I only ever learnt how to de-brand a Sony Ericsson feature phone or unlock using Davinci & SEUS. So I have no idea about de-branding or anything with a Samsung. Help anyone?? Thanks
I'm almost certain you don't have the T989, based off the information on the T-Mobile UK site.

Check your Model number under ->Settings -> About Phone
I'm betting it is the international version, aka the Samsung Galaxy S II I9100. Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055 if that is the case.
I don't understand??
After a long time beeing blessed having a nexus 5 i had to say good bye to it and got my self a second handed g800f for a very decent price
