problem...cannot reboot into clockwork recovery after installing cyanogenmod 7 - Nook Color General

Hi,
I installed cyanogenmod 7 on nook color and now I cannot reboot into clockwork recovery even though I press the button. It does reboot, but it just reboots normally into cyanogen instead of getting me into clockwork recovery mode.
Help

Have you tried rebooting into recovery with Rom Manager?

You can get rom manager from the market. There is an option to reboot into recovery. Sounds like wifi needs to work first.

If you have a phone, you can download ROM Manager that way, and transfer to your Nook with the SD...

Rooting gone wrong

I'm trying to root my friend's G1, I've downgraded to RC7 (Or the US RC29) but I can't access recovery mode. Every time i press & hold (home + power) it boots me into the boot loader.
I've tried flashing using a different memory card, no dice.
Anyone have any idea? & Is there anyway to flash RC8 (Or RC30) without using the recovery mode?
I've searched all over google & all over this forum, nothing would fix MY problem. Appreciate any help!
Catch me on Irc and I'll see what we can do.

root your phone via Superoneclick method and download CWM's rom manager. Open rom manager and click the "Reboot into recovery option" and see if that works.
If it doesnt, try flashing CWM's newest recovery or alternet recovery from the rom manager, in this case, RA's v1.7.0 and see if that works

Appreciate your reply.
I would use superoneclick or androot, but I'm on RC7(RC29) OS 1.0 & the apps just force close.
I've also tried a ton load of Amon's recoverys & Clockworks, but they don't seem to work.
I can't even access the stock recovery when I press home & power buttons, it just boots up the boot loader with a "seria0" in the middle of a white stripe.

It seems after I flashed supernova anytime I go into rom manager and try to reboot to recovery I get this whole update media deal and than it says fail and i get stuck on the captivates regular recovery.I can't click reboot or anything it only lets me scroll. The only way I have been able to solve this is by pulling the battery then it'll boot into recovery. Anyone else experiancing this.

This is more than likely due to the lagfix which changes the file system from rfs to ext4, currently ROM Manager cannot see ext4 properly.
Just adding my two cents but you really should never use rom manager for anything. It is outdated and pointless now. Hold down the power button and select recovery to get into recovery mode or use the button method.

Same thing happened to me after flashing from Cog 3.04 to Serendipity.
After a little searching I came accross this link in the Serendipity thread for resolution if you need to boot into recovery mode from Rom Manager:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909213
As others have mentioned, when I select Recovery mode from the Power menu I get into Clockwork Recovery without a battery pull.

[Q] Install untrusted package when booting into cwm

Whenever I boot into Clockworkmod Recovery, it wants to install a package. Clicking on Yes, No or Go back tells me 'install aborted' and reboots the phone making it inpossible to backup, install new roms ect. It also happens with ROM Manager.
The only way I can get around this is with CM Updater, which lets me update the phone no problem.
My Phone is running Cm10.1-20130725-NIGHTLY with Stock Kernel
Is there a way to fix this without having to go to Odin and reflash my phone from the beginning?
(sorry if its in the wrong section)
Edit: Fixed, ROM Manager was the reason it happened and I was using the wrong button conbination. I should have done more research
What combination do you use? the download-mod???

Stuck in Twrp

Hi, I added a new theme for the latest Nova Twrp. When I rebooted into recovery the theme was too big for the screen so some buttons are "missing".
This means I cant reboot into sysytem or power off. I take the battery out and it just boots into recovery.
Could anyone help please. Thank you.
Is twrp too big to install cm rom again or how about downlod the original twrp from PC or laptop get SD card into pc if any of then you can not do download cm but not the twrp , get the odin one and put phone into download mode by holding volune button down whilst holding the power and front panel button down . put cm file into Odin and it will reinstall cm and twrp . hope it helps . reply for any more help

Long press on the power button will get you out of recovery and restart your phone. With your phone on, connect to PC and delete the theme folder for twrp that you created (you would of created one to be able to theme it). Unplug, power into recovery, no theme!!

Thanks for the replies. Ive tried long press on power. It doesnt work. I dont have access to a pc until tomorow(Im using my chromebook at the moment) Deleting the themes folder was going to be the first thing I was going to do. Can I access the files on the phone from pc when the phone is off or in download mode? If not I will flash recovery with odin. Thanks for the help once again.
No you can't. What you could do is download cwm (Odin) to your external SD card put it back in your phone install (assuming the install button is accessible from twrp..) Cwm n bobs your uncle

I cant do ANYTHING in recovery. I think I will flash twrp with odin. If it still doesn't work ill flash cwm touch.

If you flash twrp it won't work as the theme folder will still be there! Best go for cwm

Yeah I was wondering about that. I'll try cwm. All I need is the stupid thing to boot normally, then I can use root explorer to delete the damn theme folder. Thanks for the help

One more question guys. I assume when I flash cwm it will be the default recovery? Also after flashing with odin will the phone boot normally and not into recovery. If it boots normally then I could just flash twrp and then delete the theme folder. I hope im making sense.
Cheers
Flash cwm, the phone should boot normally that is assuming you already have a rom installed? If so boot up then delete the theme folder then you can then flash twrp.

Yeah I have a rom installed. That advice sounds good. Ill let you know how I got on.
Thanks again

if you know how to adb then:
adb reboot :good:
EDIT:
------------------------------------------
Or
You could use the button combo to boot to Download mode. Once in download mode just hold power button to power off. Then it should boot normally.
Yh would be good to let us know , glad we could help

[Q] My device is rooted and in CM 11 but I can't get into recovery mode.

My device is rooted and in CM 11 but I can't get into recovery mode. I try doing it manually and using rom manager. It just opens up my nook recovery that says use the home button to delete all data or the power button to exit.
How do I fix this and enter CWM recovery mode?

You have not installed CWM recovery. What you are seeing is stock recovery. To install CWM recovery, go to my dummies guide for the HD/HD+ linked in my signature and follow post 7 there. It tells you how to install cm11 but also tells you how to install CWM recovery.

Go in developer option. check advance reebot. Hold the power button> Reboot>Recovery
Else while booting as soon as it display nook logo hold power button and "n" button for 4 seconds and leave. It must take you to recovery.
Guys i am facing the same problem.. i had a proper working recovery but i did a factory reset and tinkered here and there and now my tablet is rooted ie it goes from displaying cyanogenmod bootlogo to the screen but all the data is gone.. secondly i cannot reboot into recovery anymore.. all it does is restart or flash a screen regarding factory reset with yes and no options.. i tried installing the OTA update of CM11 thinking it might be able to install the recovery as it shows my device is rooted and everything. but it just said installation failed and rebooted and it wasnt in the blue coloured cwm recovery font.. i think i have messed up on the recovery internally.. i wasnt using any sd cards to flash new roms on the device and have lost the original card.. Kindly help me with a details because i tried creating a sd card again with all the files as per the dummies guide but it still goes straight onto the lockscreen without entering the recovery like it should.. :crying:

You still have stock recovery on internal memory. In order to get anything working you must make the bootable sd per the instructions in the dummies thread. And you must make it work. If you want to go back to pure stock, just interrupt the boot 8 times in a row by powering down be for it gets to recovery or the cm11 rom. On the 9th boot let it go and it will reset itself and you can start over.

Thank you soo much.. I have been able to restore the nook to the stock rom after rebooting it multiple times.. Much Obliged sir..
I have been able to revert to stock but i cannot enter into cwm recovery still..
I have a 8gb sd i used sdformatter to format the card then used EaseUs partition and right clicked E: and selected make active.
After that i unzipped the NookHDplus-bootable-CWM-6028-for-stock-BOOTFILES-r4-(05.15.13).rar and first copied Mlo file then other 4 files from desktop folder to sd card. Then copied NookHD-CWM-6036-for-internal-memory-rev2-(03-08-14).zip, Cm 10.1 and gapps onto the sdcard and put that card into nook and booted it up. tried multiple times but still it goes straight to the nook boot screen with the percentage bar without going to cwm recovery like it should.. Also the power home volume combo just gives the factory reset option like before. Am i doing something wrong? please advise..

Do you have an HD or an hd+? You got the files for hd+ for the bootfiles and the hd version for cwm. I suspect that you have the HD and that is why it won't boot with the hd+ bootfiles

It looks like you are doing things right. Sometimes it is just hard to get the hd+ to boot. There is a whole thread about. I think I have a link to it in my hd/hd+ cwm thread linked in my signature.

Since the tablet was with my dad he just told me to stop fiddling with it and leave it as it is.. so I don't need to worry right now but I am pretty sure he's gonna ask me to revert it to cm11 soon and I don't know how I am gonna manage that without entering cwm recovery.. isn't there a method to flash via Odin ?
