I may be willing to lend my Bell Atrix to a dev if it'll help in any way for us Canadian user to catch up with the light MODs and ROMs that the AT&T version already has.
I can't donate, it was a very expensive phone, paid $700 for it.
Let me know and we can discuss.
I wouldn't worry too much about lending one to a dev; I'm working on some stuff for the Bell version right now as I'm sure others are. Give it another week before you go mailing strangers 700$ devices.

Out of curiousity, if you spent $700 on your bell atrix, which is full pop. Why wouldn't you just get an unlocked at&t version? This is what I tend to, this way no waiting, already know it work
For those that bought with contract, this is along the same line as our first Rogers Dream being rooted trims bunch of us pitching in to buy one for haykuro. And it all worked out well, he did his job, 100's of happy canadians. Funniest part was Cyanogen offering to help, asked for the phone. He was newer on the scene and know one had heard of him then. How thing change.

What kind of an idiot would buy this phone for 700 dollars?
Got mine for 499 plus tax in wave sans fil (quebec)..
Plus, ATT version = failure. Bell version at least doesn't have sideloading issues and all the other junk missing. ATT versions = voice quality issues by the numbers, just look at the Atrix 4G forums from Moto. Bell phones (directly out of a buddy who works at a store) has had zero phones returned or marked as problematic so far.. This is in comparison to the i9000 series from Samsung which came back by the numbers weekly for problems...
so....?
Even if you buy it full price, what the CAD dollar is stronger so its only 10 dollars more in Canada. You buy it in the US.. OK, you want warranty?.. oh.. you are NOT in the US..
In canada, regardless of whether you buy the phone without a contract, if you have the proof of purchase Bell WILL send it for repair.. just a little food for thought.
I have a soft brick Bell Atrix, keep reboot due to flash ADEO ROM, if someone (has too be long time XDA developer) need to test it for SBF or other similar purpose. I can lend it. PM me.

Kenneth has asked if anyone with a bell phone is willing to help him test GB on the Bell. You risk bricking the phone though. Maybe you could PM him or something.
If Da_G wants this, then I advise sending it to him and him only. I do not advise sending a phone to anyone else.
Personally, I will be able to create a Bell ROM from the /system and /data dumps I recently received. I don't need the actual device in hand as long as I can get a few alpha testers to try things out.

The reason I bought it from Bell was because I wasn't sure if I was keeping it. I don't drive so the cost for getting to and back from Buffalo/New York would drive up the cost, not to mention the extra time. Also I sold my iPhone 4 for ~$500.

Yes, that was my thought, if someone like Da_G, DesignGears or Cyanogen (I always hope he would jump on), I would send it.
Would be happily willing to be an alpha tester.

For starters, I AM THE KIND OF IDIOT THAT WOULD BUY THIS PHONE FOR $700 (well just over $600, but that's not the point). Don't know who would sell you it for $500 no plan, they would have lost money in the transaction.
...that aside, I have to say your other comments are fairly idiotic as well. Your friend that works at "a" Bell store hasn't seen any problems with the "Bell Atrix"? First off, Bell released the phone last week, so it's a little early to say they won't have problems. Secondly, Bell and AT&T Atrix use the same hardware, so if one has issues so will the other, yes i realize the software is little difference, but the issue you mention would have to do with firmware, which I can't imagine being very different.
You brought up the Samsung i9000 firmware and them having issues. What exactly was your point with this comment? What does it have to do with the Bell and AT&T Atrix.
Warranty, well there I agree with you...almost. Yes, you buy a US Version, you have to understand that the the warranty is in the US, which I did. Doesn't mean you can't still get your warranty, you just have to send it back to the states, is that really such a big deal? (Please don't respond with a 1 time experience shipping a product back to US for warranty and having issues).
Also, remember my maier tn point is, if you got an AT&T version, unlocked, it would cost the same as the Bell atrix full price...but you have SBF files that work. Bell, well it's possible, but probably much harder to get your hands on it, if at all.
...PS, I haven't had any voice issues on my AT&T Atrix on Rogers.
I actually got mine for $530CDN no plan. Also I received another offer for a Bell Atrix for $480 no plan also. The most ive seen the Bell Atrix go for here in Canada is $570CDN.
I was 10 steps away from buying the phone for $680cdn at Wireless Wave/Phone Booth that same day I received a txt from some dude willing to sell in Brand New In Box for $530. Checked the contents, turned on the device, compared phone IMEI and Box IMEI..everything ok...It still had the plastic on the screen and still locked to Bell.
It just didnt justfiy to me to purchase it for $680cdn. Also when I realized that ATnT had to rooted to be able to use the functionality that Bell has for free then it was a good choice in my part.
So, thats my story...
i got mine from bell on a new 3yr term for 69.99

The problem is that there used to be absolutely no way to recover if a bell atrix was soft-bricked by a rom. However, there is now a Telstar sbf that works with the bell atrix and from there the initial bell firmware can be reinstalled using cam recovery if needed.
Long story short- its only a matter of time now before someone throws something together and releases a beta version now that we have something to recover from a worst-case scenario

So maybe I'm the only one in the world with an HD7 that can't be unlocked.
I bought one on Kijiji new in the box. I'm in Toronto and planned to use it on Wind Mobile. I read of others enjoying their unlocked T-Mobile HD7's. So I bought mine today, sold my old phone the same day and found out that my phone cannot be unlocked.
I have tried 4 different websites for unlocking and all failed. I called HTC and they said to speak to the carrier. The carrier said to get a plan with them and in 40 days I can have the code. Doesn't make much sense being that I don't live in the U.S. or within hours of their service areas.
Finally the sales person says to fax them a receipt and they can provide the code in 24 hours or 2 weeks if they don't have it in their database and have to retrieve it from HTC. I doubt I can get a receipt from the seller and I feel like I just spent $500 on a paper weight.
Anyone have any suggestions??
EDIT: mobileincanada.com surprisingly sent me an email last night saying they updated their database and if I re-ordered they could probably have the code for me in a few min. So I took another shot and they actually had one. I guess it could an updated database to solve the problem!!

Sorry:
http://pocketnow.com/windows-phone/microsoft-discusses-homebrew-app-support-for-windows-phone-7
you need to get someone that have t-mobile account to do it for you
Hey go on tmobile's website and go to the online chat help section and talk to someone there and just be kind and tell them the truth. I found that they are really helpful. Just tell the person u bought it from a tmobile store (dont say kiji) and that ur in canada and are not a tmobile customer. They'll understand. Im in canada and was thinking of doin what u did and buying one and then unlocking it so to be safe i talked to a tmobile rep b4 buying anythin and she was really understanding and told me she would unlock it for me after i purchased it( not sure if they wouldve kept their word since i havent bought mine yet)...
as long as you bought it at full retail, they should give you the unlock code. The 40 days only applies if you got it at a discount as a new line of service.
I was in the same situation, tried over 10 websites and none of them had the unlock code in their database. Luckly I was able to get the receipt from the seller and got T-Mobile to unlock the phone. Took T-Mobile less than 24 hrs to send me the code. Like the other poster said, try the T-Mobile online chat, they are very helpful.
Thats crazy.. was planning on picking up an HD7 to use on Wind soon in Toronto. Would be brutal if it can't be unlocked.
Did any of you guys who had problems try mobileincanada.com for the unlock code?

Yup tried mobileincanada.com, didn't work and got a refund.
Most of the sites claimed they should be able to unlock the phone in a few weeks when their databases are updated.
edit: What you could also do is bring a laptop with you when you buy the phone and check if the phone is unlockable here http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/check-imei.php
^man that really sucks.. you had tried 10 different sites? Also thanks for the tip on htcimeiunlock site.
So T-mobile was pretty helpful about the situation as long as you had the original receipt? good to know.. worse case i'll just go for a quick drive and pick one up.
I tried all the sites you all listed here and NONE of them worked. I even found some other site called UNLOCKINGONLINE.COM. They say claim to have access to some newer databases and recommend using a certain unlock option if you're phone is an HTC device manufactured after March or May 2010 I think it said. But it's a premium rate of $39.99 which of course they say they will refund if unsucessful.
Well I tried them as my last resort and guess what? I've had no response from them since last night and they promise a 5-30 min turnaround time on 99% of all unlocks.
So now I'm worrying about the 4 or 5 refunds I'm expecting for all the various unlocking sites I tried AND they guy I bought my HD7 from has decided to no longer respond to my messages. Maybe he knew I couldn't unlock it before hand and took my money and ran.
I guess my last option is the online chat with T-Mobile a few of you have suggested. Otherwise I'm just going to sell it and let someone else figure out how to unlock it.
I tried the online T-Mobile chat and they said unless I bought it right from T-Mobile and have a receipt they will not unlock it for me.
Can anyone offer some advice on either what I can say to them or perhaps if one of you are an existing T-Mobile client you could offer me some assitance??
I'd hate to have to get rid of it now
Hopefully with some time these databases for unlocking will get updated?
I'm close to buying one off something through kijiji in toronto as well.. he just dropped the prices recently, really hope its not the case where the phone cannot be unlocked. Considering I only see one guy selling in toronto I don't think I should take the chance.

Just a heads up the only guy on Kijiji is the guy I bought mine from yesterday. He got back to me now and says he doesn't have retail receipts as he buys from a wholesaler. He says he'll see if there is anything he can do for me.
EDIT:
Here's for anyone else having Sim unlocking problems but can actually get the sales receipt. I just got this in my email:
Unlock Code: Waiting For FAX - MSRP
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. At this time, we will need a copy of the original sales receipt to be faxed into the SIM Unlock Team showing full retail purchase price was paid for the equipment. The fax number is 813-353-6557. Your request will be placed in pending status for 7 business days to allow time for processing. Please include the following information with the fax.
" ATTN: SIM Unlock Team
" Remedy Form#
" Customer's Full Name
" Contact number
" Customer's Email Address (optional)
" Copy of the original sales receipt showing the Full Retail Purchase Price of the handset.
Thank You,

Well I would still buy one IF you weren't in a rush to set it up and didn't mind possibly waiting for a couple weeks for the code. Just don't do what I did and get rid of your current phone with expectations the new one will be up and running in minutes..
If the Kijiji guy did buy in bulk, maybe you can ask him to use http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/check-imei.php to check if the rest of his phones are unlockable and if it is try asking for an exchange.

Well I should probably mention that after he got back to me today about my issues he did promise to go home tonight to see if the other one he had left was unlockable immediately. And if it was he assured me he would let me switch mine for that one. So perhaps that's why he didn't answer you, not sure.
But once I'm out of options and anyone wants mine (that's willing to wait of course) you're welcome to buy it from it me.
I'm going to try taking a walk around here at lunch for fun and see if any of these guys on Yonge St. can unlock it.
^Thats true, he doesn't have it with him so can't check now. He's been a nice guy though, and that's cool if he can let you swap it if its unlockable.
I'll be doing more searching to be certain but since my Galaxy S is in for the 3rd repair and I'm sick of it there is a slight chance I can trade for a Tab. I have the Bell Galaxy unlocked running on Rogers so if I trade for a Tab it will be the Bell version.
So, is it reasonable to think that I can unlock it, flash it, and run a Rogers SIM and get 3G on it like I do the Galaxy? I can get 6+Mbs on the Galaxy. And can I get it to do phone duties? Of course this is only useful if I use a headset.
Any Bell Tab users running on Rogers around here?
Bell Tab user running on Telus. Same difference.
Just follow the unlock and flashing threads on the main forum for the AT&T version, it all applies to the Bell and Rogers tabs.
I have a Bell tab running on Sasktel but it is unlocked and could run on any north american provider. I also have the phone working. I found all the directions to do this on these forums.

Thanks a lot. I wasn't sure if there are many versions like there are with the S which can cause trouble (A U.S. Vibrant rom an a Bell Vibrant == bad news).
There's only a slight chance I can get one but the shop has mentioned they'll discuss it since they know how bad the S corruption problem is.
So the bottom line is that there is little doubt that a Bell spec'd Tab (not yet sure if there are radio differences between the different offerings) can run full 3G speed on a Rogers network and can use standard voice? I have no doubt that VoIP is ok but if I can make it act like a bigger version of the Galaxy S then I'm good. I won't ask how to do it since I can research no problem. I just want to be prepared to tell the shop that yes I'll swap for a Tab.

No doubt whatsoever. None. Zilch. Nada.
It's a sure thing, a cinch, dead certain.
Follow the instructions for unlocking and the AT&T how-to-flash-voice in this forum.
You'll get full 3G on both bands, you'll be able to fall back on Roger's EDGE network if need be (great for saving battery life too), and you'll have world-wide GSM voice, via speakerphone, Bluetooth, or the included wired headset.
I want to know how you convinced them to swap the Galaxy S for a Tab. Mine is in repair right now and I'd love to do that
I didn't, it is just a possibility. Actually they brought it up after my successful campaign to convince them that I used the SGS as a tablet and is why I don't show up as a Bell customer. We're not supposed to be able to buy them without at least a PAYG plan but that was my other success when initially buying what is now my regret. You'd think that buying the full price no contract would allow that but the fine print says no. It took me 5 stores before I was able to outsell the salesman.
I'm pleased however with how nice people have been so far around here. I did see a brief spat over someone's claim to use their Tab as a primary phone. That's what I intend to do since voice is low usage for me but I'd still need voice at times. The Tab can stay tucked away and use a headset so I'm not too worried about the size. I'm old with fat fingers so the size is very useful for me.
I'm in the same boat. I've got the Captivate from Rogers, and I picked up the Tab from Bell. (Way cheaper from Bell buying it outright) I'm going to hack the phone into working and unlock it tonight.
Voice is the least used feature of my phone, but I still need to have it.
I've just got to figure out a way to carry it around easily come summer when the Jacket pockets go back into the closet.
Let us know how it goes. If I get the same defective hardware back from repair I'll be asking to trade for a Tab. So with you having a Bell Tab and making it work on Rogers with voice is something I want to hear about. Did you get one month PAYG SIM? It seems you have to activate it to get it at the best price.

I signed up for the Tablet Flex Plan, but then cancelled it. I'm going to be billed for an extra month, so I'll use it sparingly and just eat the cost...
I bought minbe from Future Shop out right without having to go month to month or anything. The Rogers one was $20 cheaper aswell when Buying out right. $629 on Rodgers vs. $649 on Bell. If you want to avoid having to pay for a month of service and another sim just get it from Best Buy or Future Shop. They also have open box ones for $609.

I am new to android devices, and I have a few questions:
#1. I got a tab with bell as the carrier.
#2. The bluetooth does not pick up headset or handsfree profile devices at all
I want to use a headset with this device
If I do the flashing and install new roms, will I be able to get the bluetooth to work?
Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it satisfactorally?
Rogers Stock Rom
Rogers tab stuck at samsung logo. I need to reflash to Rogers FW. Anyone has it ?
Thanks
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but could someone please let me know if there have been any changes to the flashing procedure?
I am a new owner of a Bell Canada Galaxy tab, and would love to have it unlocked, in order to use it freely...
Someone here noted that their Tab was already unlocked when bought - how would I go about to verify if mine is locked or not?
Thank you and sorry if my questions are too "noob"-ish...

Easiest way is to stick another carriers sim in the slot and see if you get signal. I unlocked my Bell Tab and use it on Telus as my main device (phone and all).
I used this for unlock. Then just follow the guide for the Overcome GB flash and you'll be set.

I'm not impressed with the Incredible S so far, not so great signal reception... I sold my Desire for this? should have waited, everything else about it had me sold, but going from vanilla GB (villanROM) on my desire leaves much to be wanted.
I bought it earlier today... i'm considering walking into Bell and returning it for an Atrix.
I've heard that the bell version is tough to crack, but if you want my advice I wouldn't go for an attic, everone I have spoken to has been dissapointed with it. What other choices do you have?

Well i'm not sure if they will give full refund next day :S but the guy I bought it from said they do 14 days in store credit for sure.
Bell doesn't really have anything else that interests me, Galaxy S vibrant (meh) and Desire Z 4G (no thanks)
Telus uses the same bands/towers in Canada (that's who my provider is I just unlocked the IS) and they have the Nexus S which I was going to go for at first but no shops have it in stock.
I really should have just sat on my Desire for a while longer. I also have a Motorola Milestone...
I have both the Atrix and the Incredible S. I had similar reception issues on Telus and Bell's HSPA network. So far no issues on Rogers (in Red Deer, AB). I love my Atrix. I got an incredible S for the camera. So for I'm impressed with the incredible S but I did just get it last night.

You should be able to get a refund if the you have the phone for less than 14 days AND the talk time on it is less than 30 minutes.
Cheers

Everyone I ask says the Atrix just isn't what they expected, it looks awesome on paper spec wise, but MotoBlur takes all the fun out of it.
My friend with a Nexus S says it seems very slow compared to his. The IncS has pretty much the same cpu and ram as the Nexus S so I think the advantages of dual core phones are yet to come and see no real world performance benefit as of yet.
I'm giving it some more time, and pretty much just playing with the IncS over wi-fi and testing it out and not using any talk time.
I've unlocked and rooted/updated my Moto Milestone in prep to sell it. I'll give myself a few more days to decide, but with no RUU/OTA working on it i'm left wondering what will be it's future.
Should have kept my Desire until there was more Dev support for either, but I did check through the forums here, I knew it wasn't rooted yet but thought I could get GB on it out of the box.
Spoke to a Bell employee, he told me that they are testing GB for IS atm but couldn't tell me the release date.
If it is just the Android version that's bothering you, I would wait it out.

Once you unlock the IS, you can't return it coz it voids the warranty.
But I'm using it on Fido, and I'm having no reception problems at all.
So when bell finally releases the GB update there will be an RUU for us to use for those of us who don't get an OTA right?

I don't really understand why some are saying that sim card unlocked phones won't get OTA. Sim unlocking is not same as rooting the phone, unless the OTA update also checks what carrier you are using lol..
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Bell will give you the sim unlock code for 50$ no mention of any voiding of warranty... I bought my unlock from gsmunlock.net, it's the same thing as what the provider would have gave me.

What?? Really? They told me at the store that if I unlocked it, it would void the warranty. But yeah, I bought mine online for way cheaper...

Providers have access to the unlock codes, sorry it was actually Telus I contacted about a sim unlock before selling my Desire on the weekend, HTCs are easily unlockable... i'm sure Bell is the same.
I'm sure it was just an uninformed sales rep, or was just trying to prevent you from going to another provider or them losing the cash they would have made off it lol.
You can unlock here for $25
http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/
I'm positive that unlocking your SIM does not void your HTC warranty whatsoever since it does not alter the phone's software or hardware in any way other then "unlocking" it.
Perhaps it'll void your right to return/exchange the product, but in which case I doubt the store rep will even bother to check if the phone you are returning is unlocked or not...
I used cellunlock.net Google the site name + coupon and you can find a code for 50% off
I unlocked 2 android phones for under 20$ haha, had the code for the HTC in about an hour, the Motor took 24 hours.

Yep! That's what I used, with the 50% off coupon. It came to like $10.
Well, I'm glad to know unlocking it "shouldn't" void the warranty, then. I was pretty upset that a $500 phone wouldn't have any warranty on it.

I had contacted HTC a few weeks ago asking about this. Here's what they said:
With OTA software upgrades, it's a bit iffy. In some circumstances, update sofware is provided to local stores, who should be able to update the phone for you (policies on this differ from carrier to carrier, where some may be okay with updating an unlocked phone, and others won't).
Sometimes, a downloadable version can be found on our website for the phone in question:
http://www.htc.com/ca/support/incredibles-bell/downloads/
Each device has a specific address that it checks for its updates. Theoretically, the unlocking process shouldn't change that. Your device should still continue to recieve updates, however, it really depends on Bell's update policy when it comes to phones no longer on their network.

So my question stands... if Bell decides to be dicks about it (wouldn't put it past them ) and they don't push the OTA to our phones, will we be able to find an RUU somewhere that should work? (possibly on that link in the quote?)
I called AT&T to do my part in the campaign to unlock the bootloader of the Vivid. The CSA seemed to understand our issue (wanting root/not wanting CIQ). I told her that these were the issues that needed to be resolved before I would upgrade when I am due late 2012. She (out of nowhere) asked if there were any other devices that I was interested in that were capable of root and didn't have CIQ. When I mentioned that my wife had an Inspire, she quickly asked if I was interested in an upgrade today. (I am using a rooted Aria). I told her that I didn't want to pay the higher price for a device since I am not due for an upgrade for several months. She offered to send me an Inspire, to arrive in 2 weeks if I want. Renew the contract for 2 years and it's mine. "Free"
Wow...
Nice try...if I do this, I am going to miss out on great pricing for some of the better Android devices yet to come. Or is this my last chance to get an HTC device with an unlocked bootloader? Should I bite?
No way, wait for the G Nex to hit AT&T

I got my son's Inspire for Free at Target 6 weeks ago.
Important to point out that I am in the middle of a 2 year contract. An upgrade so far from my contract end date typically makes one ineligible for discounts on new equipment, right?
Also...are we sure that the G Nex will have an unlocked bootloader and no CIQ?

nexus phones are specifically made with bootloaders you can unlock easily. since the verizon one comes with bloat we can assume, if at&t subsidizes it in their store, not through the nexus website, that it will have some at&T specific apps also.
but the phone will allow u to disable them just like u can on verizon
If they said that they'd send you an Inspire with no contractual obligation, I'd have been thinking "Wow, great!". Add the two-year wrinkle to it, and you are swiftly drop-kicked back to the reality that AT&T sucks.

We can also argue now that the latest Google phone isn't a nexus anymore. Carriers like Verizon are ruining products.

Inspire is a great device. Loved it, but I'd hold out.
So, BF came and I shot me a verizon unlocked xt1096 somewhat foolishly expecting that unlocked means fully unlocked.....means I can do with it what I want.
Not getting gang raped like the Apple crowd.
But it seems like I was wrong. After some days of just playing around with the new phone and still using my Note2 (rooted) I went ahead and made the full switch........
and got kicked in the balls when I realized that some of my beloved progs won't work because, the thing has a locked bootloader (wtf??) and can't be rooted (another wtf).
Now, I really wonder why this is, since I paid for the phone in full that I can not do with it what I want.
Maybe I am stupid (easily possible) but I don't get this. Can someone please explain why this is that way?
Thanks
K
probably stupid.
Verizon sells SIM unlocked devices. What you want is bootloader unlocked which is only possible on the pure edition devices which only work on At&t or T-Mobile in the states.
Caveat emptor.
Unlocked sim is not the same as unlocked bootloader........ two very different things
You have a logic error there. I bought it from Motorola NOT Verizon. So why does Verzion have control over a piece of equipment I bought from somewhere else?
Just because they "allow" me to pay them for their services?

I am growing pretty tired about that kind of BS in this country. Maybe I was to cradled by consumer protection laws in Europe, but I seriously doubt that kind of BS would fly in Europe.
I had a oneplus one and sold it because Tmobile didnt cover me....... I was with Verizon for 4 years under contract. SO I thought this way I get a better deal......
I really don't understand why Motorola plays that kind of ****.

Yes, you were coddled by EU laws, welcome to freedom bro. The ONLY way to get a better deal with Verizon is to never have any form of contact with them, don't even make eye contact with the stores when you pass. :good:
You entered into a voluntary contract and should have read the conditions before signing.
You know, if my clients would be ok with smoke signals and emails, I would....but damn...sometimes those bad people want to talk to me.....

What do you mean? I should have asked Motorola if they lock the bootloader in the name of the all so mighty overlord Verizon?
Sorry, but I think if I buy a factory unlocked phone, I should receive a unlocked phone. A phine that is free of the antics and bs of Verizon.
Thats why I opted out of my contract and went with a prepaid solution. Where I bring my own phone.
What nerves me most here, is that everyone takes the dry as* screwing like it is normal that you get drilled up the backside high and dry.
Where is the outcry? Is really everyone so commercially ironed out and conformed that we can be handled like money suppliers that bring their cash anyway?
Please don't answer, I really fear to hear many "yes" or even worse, if you don't like it go back to Europe.
I don't see what the problem is. Your money speaks your opinion. Cancel your service with verizon and switch to T-Mobile or at&t where you can use a PE. Or buy a nexus 6 (which can be unlocked on Verizon). The web has a vast amount of info on any phone you ever plan on buying.
you are overseeing one crucial point. I bought the phone from Motorola. NOT from Verizon. I bought it outside of a contract. I bought it unlocked.
And still Verizon has power over a phone they shouldn't have.
The problem with other providers around here is, that they don't have coverage......

You still bought a Verizon branded phone. Verizon doesn't care about whether or not you are on contract, what they care about is that you are on their network. They want to have full control of every device that's on their network, plain and simple. I understand your frustration but it's not like a precedent is being set here- this is how it's always been. Not trying to drive salt in the wound here but had you done your due diligence and researched prior to purchase, you could have avoided this little surprise. As I said, this is nothing new, unfortunately.

As far as I know, it is impossible to buy any variant of the Moto X 2014 that comes with an unlocked bootloader. Secondly, Motorola only marketed the Pure Edition Moto X (GSM) as being bloat-free. Motorola (or any other manufacturer for that matter) will never sell a CDMA phone that is not carrier-branded as all of the major CDMA carriers will only activate their own carrier-branded phones.
sorry but your statement is void. I bought from the maker. Not a reseller.
