hi just wanted to share that i just downloaded software upgrade from lg.
it's aprox. 209mb and currently installing, hoping it is android 2.3 ofc
EDIT: seems like only change 10a -> 10b to bad
I have my doubts. But I have also hopes. Keep us posted!
You sure it isnt just the baseband? not sure why that would be 209mb though!

Well it includes the new baseband, but the kernel has also been changed from release version in that update. same with the recovery as both are bigger then the release versions
you maybe right, didn't notice baseband before upgrade
does it work with root and recovery installed?
With my phone the process hang before the end and the LG software ask me to unplug/replug the 2x and restart the phone removing the battery..
I updated with root clockwork recovery with no trouble but ofc now root and recovery is gone

SuperOneClick worked fine for me to re-root after update!
Maybe try to re-install your device driver?
no problems with re-rooting after the update here!
Anyone know if any of the know bugs has been fixed
- Wifi does not turn on after "sleeping"
- Poor Bluetooth support
- Bad sound on calling
- Homescreen before lockscreen
- Battery drain
- wifi do turn on after sleeping - allways has on my 2 optimus so this is not a general bug
- battery drain are not a general bug either but an individual bug - I have no battery drain on my 2 optimus
- sound on calling improved with new baseband in this update
dont know about bluetooth as I dont use that
Homescreen before lockscreen still present
update software not running
You run the software update application (LGMLauncher) and immediately get the error “Already running LG Mobile Phone Software Update...”
It’s never been run on this machine or the other I tried. Both win7, one is 32bit other 64bit. Tried xp compatability and as an administrator and all fail.
Has anyone else seen this happen?
firmware update.
i just got my firmware update today from lg in holland.
it was only the update from v10a to v10b.
and now i have a backup option widget in settings.
and my next update date changed to 31-05-2011.
bummer!!!!! no 2.3
Updating went fine here. I used the LGMobile update program, all my programs and settings were preserved.
I got a new update install according to the phone bit once i download it it gives me invalid software package. The pack is 4.5mb and my baseband is from 04/06/2011 so i guess its a new baseband vs my fw is 10c i tried with LG mobile update but he says that i am running the latest (not the greatest)
I am really thinking about costum Rom LG are really disappointing me
P.s i tried playing back and forword with the clock to get the update again still bust
Anyone has an idea about this issue or should o wait for gingerbread ?
Thanks a lot for you're help

i cannot the LG pc suite says my phone is up 2 date
maybe its because i got clockworldmod installed , but no custom rom?
Still cannot update any ideas about it?

i read somewhere did because i have removed system apps i will not get ota anymore is that so?
could that be the reason? i didn't freeze anything just removed them permanently.
if so how can i get back to the original STOCK LG (the easiest way)
because then i can just restore my backup and i am done.
Perform a SmartFlash.

The problem is because you have CWM on the phone,
I had the same issue.
you have to remove CWM (don't know how to do that).
Or do a flash with smartflash back to V10A and then you can update to V10B and then again to V10C.
You are from the netherlands you can also look here: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1453370 (is in dutch)
thanks,
i just flashed with 0614 bb and new kernel (BIN_LGP990AT-00-V10c-EUR-XX-APR-16-2011+0)
restoring now the backup
Months ago I was rooted but stupidly allowed the OTA update for 2.2.2. Now my phone has been unrooted and recently I have switched to a different OG Droid on the same 2.2.2 frg83g build. Can anyone help me root my device? I have tried using super one click and a version of z4root.
My idea would be to downgrade to 2.2.1 and then root and bounce back to 2.3.5 which I read was out. Only problem with this is finding the right update.zip file and then how I would go about rooting from there.
I would like to re-root to hold me down until my next phone which wil be sometime this fall....droid bionic cough cough.
Is there anyone who could help?
My phone is a Motorola Droid (Verizon) on android 2.2.2 FRG83G build.
P.S. When I used SuperOneClick the program did not respond and would always get stuck on waiting for device. I toggled the usb debugging on and off after several attempts. HELP WOULD BE SO MUCH APPRECIATED!!!!
Try z4root or universal androot.

Universal Androot version 1.6.1 (I believe) failed. It looked like it was going to work and then got to generating root script and went to failed. Z4root would also just click me back to the homescreen. Reason as to why?

Other required phone setup settings...
In addition to checking USB Debugging, I also checked:
Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources
Settings -> Applications -> Allow mock locations
After this, running superoneclick worked.
hi there, I hope I am i/t right forum.
I am using z4root to root my optimus 2x, however it doesn't seem to work, it stays in starting screen.
I tried permenent as well as temporary.
I know you have to switch on debugging, but the thing is, my phone does not have this option in the menu.
My LGP990 is on v10d.
Anybody?
Use SuperOneClick.
z4root, gingerbreak can't root O2X.

Your phone must have the debug option, it is mandatory. Go in Settings, Applications, Development and you're there. And use super one click.

I also have the same problem, I tried z4root with permenent root.
Problem is it stays in starting screen of z4root with circling.
Phone is LG e720 v10a, 2.2.1
Please help me, I want to root that one.
Thanks you.
Why don't you use UnlockRoot? Just one click of the mouse and you are done!
Superoneclick works with no problems. Better use usb back port on motherboard not front one on your case and dont forget usb drivers.

Definately recommend using superoneclick, followed by a donation :-D
Hey,
I come from a Stock 2.3.4 ROM for LG Optimus 2x (P990). Wanted to install the latest Cyanogenmod and booted into Recovery, did the 3 wipe steps but then I couldnt find my zip from Cyanogenmod on my external SD. So I rebooted and only the LG logo showed up. Only solution was to flash it and for that I used a stock T-Mobile ROM which was U.S. (so I cant even use my SIM card there, Wifi is working though) But I didnt know it was for P999 and I have a German P990.
So now I'd like to either go back to Stock ROM or go straight to Cyanogenmod but I cannot do a SmartFlash Tool reset as it doesnt recognize my phone as P990. I tried dozens different methods but just would like to go back and then to flash to Cyanogenmod as my Stock ROM was 1&1 carrier branded (branded, NOT SIM locked) and couldnt update to the latest Android version and was basically stuck on 2.3.4.
Did this method too (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2585264), it goes into "S/W Upgrade Please wait while upgrading..." but SmartFlash Tool doesnt recognize the phone as P990 due to the P999 ROM probably (LG USB driver installed, APX driver also).
