lg software update - LG Optimus 2x

hi just wanted to share that i just downloaded software upgrade from lg.
it's aprox. 209mb and currently installing, hoping it is android 2.3 ofc
EDIT: seems like only change 10a -> 10b to bad

I have my doubts. But I have also hopes. Keep us posted!

You sure it isnt just the baseband? not sure why that would be 209mb though!

Well it includes the new baseband, but the kernel has also been changed from release version in that update. same with the recovery as both are bigger then the release versions

you maybe right, didn't notice baseband before upgrade

does it work with root and recovery installed?
With my phone the process hang before the end and the LG software ask me to unplug/replug the 2x and restart the phone removing the battery..

I updated with root clockwork recovery with no trouble but ofc now root and recovery is gone

Thanks for sharing that! I was just about to boot with vol dwn + pwr btn

haven't tried reroot yet, perhaps SuperOneClick v1.8 beta can do the trick

About 9MB if you update through phone.

SuperOneClick worked fine for me to re-root after update!
Maybe try to re-install your device driver?

no problems with re-rooting after the update here!

Anyone know if any of the know bugs has been fixed
- Wifi does not turn on after "sleeping"
- Poor Bluetooth support
- Bad sound on calling
- Homescreen before lockscreen
- Battery drain

- wifi do turn on after sleeping - allways has on my 2 optimus so this is not a general bug
- battery drain are not a general bug either but an individual bug - I have no battery drain on my 2 optimus
- sound on calling improved with new baseband in this update
dont know about bluetooth as I dont use that
Homescreen before lockscreen still present

update software not running
You run the software update application (LGMLauncher) and immediately get the error “Already running LG Mobile Phone Software Update...”
It’s never been run on this machine or the other I tried. Both win7, one is 32bit other 64bit. Tried xp compatability and as an administrator and all fail.
Has anyone else seen this happen?

firmware update.
i just got my firmware update today from lg in holland.
it was only the update from v10a to v10b.
and now i have a backup option widget in settings.
and my next update date changed to 31-05-2011.
bummer!!!!! no 2.3

Updating went fine here. I used the LGMobile update program, all my programs and settings were preserved.

Hello,
Sorry for my english.
Yesterday, i want to flash the new 606 baseband on my LG O2X.
I use smartflash but i was wrong in using this program.
I have cheked the box "Erase CP" and now my O2X does'nt find the network. My phone send "carte incorrect" or "No network".
My SIM work in another phone and another SIM work in my phone.
I try to flash all the other baseband like 208, 318 or 405 but each time the problem is the same, i have no network.
I don't know what to do.
Thank you.

i read somewhere did because i have removed system apps i will not get ota anymore is that so?
could that be the reason? i didn't freeze anything just removed them permanently.
if so how can i get back to the original STOCK LG (the easiest way)

The problem is because you have CWM on the phone,
I had the same issue.
you have to remove CWM (don't know how to do that).
Or do a flash with smartflash back to V10A and then you can update to V10B and then again to V10C.
You are from the netherlands you can also look here: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1453370 (is in dutch)
thanks,
i just flashed with 0614 bb and new kernel (BIN_LGP990AT-00-V10c-EUR-XX-APR-16-2011+0)

Watch Video and follow steps above "http://youtu.be/ExwoHC5pOiQ"
To get back to stock just use the V10e .fls file and then load the stock rom from CWM recovery.
For factory stock try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270832 after the baseband is restored

Followed the guide on how to install a KDZ files (link posted above) thanks to adixtra
When the phone rebooted it when into a bootloop so i removed the battery put it back on and went into recovery (volume down + 3D button + power button) wipe data and factory restore
reboot the phone and now I have gingerbread
did a superoneclick root access to gain root
installed CWM again
added the APN's and did a titaniumBackup batch restore and now everything its working and with the nice features
working on a rom for the thrill to add windows FX and other things
Are you able to go back to stock froyo afterwards? All features work? 4G, gps, mms, etc. Also, will there be a need to go to stock and grab the OTA gingerbread update for the thrill when it is released? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can go back to froyo just by doing the exact method but selecting the KDZ file for froyo.
ALL the features works (this is the live official update LG is pushing to european handsets) i have tried everything on my thrill and its working. (As I said before I can't test 4g so you can go ahead and try) obviosly have to set the APN lists manually because you are flashing a debranded (optimus 3d) firmware instead of the AT&T
I suppose that AT&T will release the Official Thrill firmware in the first week of december but unitl then you can install this update risk free and have the advantage of running the new gingerbread roms without going into the hassle of flashing the baseband alone with an XP machine and all that hard work.
Anyone else has installed this on there Thrill besides me? someone in the US so can test the 4G?
I am thinking about doing it. But don't wanna get stuck because I am new to android and I am going to be getting a new phone thru warranty. I figured its perfect to try since i will be replacing this phone anyway, just wanted to make sure I could go back to stock first. Maybe I will try it tonight. I am currently running "Thrill Seeker" custom rom. Do I need to go to stock before doing this?
Edit: also, sorry if this is a stupid question, but does this come with 3D converter?

Dear friends,
I tried to install by this method but did not continue the installation. There was a message "there is sufficient charge in the battery, recharge the device to continue", the battery has 80% load, it is normal that message appear?
This rom is for the LG Optimus 3D P-920. She will work on AT & T P-925?
There is no risk of brick the device?
I need install something before? (baseband, kernel, etc.)
I was at 72 when I started. Went fine.

Well, after flashing last night and spending some time using it, and getting some calls, so far so good.
Everything seems smoother overall, with less freezes. App compatibility seems better, and there is a definite difference in battery life.
Call quality and signal strength seem overall about the same, bit I thought it was pretty good before. Not quite as strong as my Atrix in bad areas, but not enough to bother me.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is 3g, or fauxG if you want to call it that. We have edge only at home. When I go back to work Monday I will be able to test that.

There is no need to install anything beforehand the KDZ file has everything needed although it is recommended that after flashing to do a factory reset through recovery. It is in deed for the p920 but it works as well for the p925 although some users report the signal drops a little for the 4g although it works. Everything else function pretty well and most important battery life is longer.

If you have CWM you can try this:
-Charge the battery to 100%
-reboot to recovery
-wipe battery stats
-retry to apply the KDZ file

Did you flash this for the thrill? Any extra steps to get it fully working on the thrill?
All you have to do is change the kdz file name to similar formats like other ones

ICS
I got it flashed and it works great. Everything is fully functional on the thrill so far that I tried. It is a nice change over GB for sure. If anyone is curious how to flash this, here was my method...
1.) Get the KDZ file from here (http://www.android-files.de/P920V28B_00.kdz) and rename it to V28B_00.kdz.
2.) On this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870) go down to number 3 and set up Lg Flash Tool EXACTLY how it says.
3.) Select the renamed kdz file you just downloaded in the lg flash tool program and let it do it's thing.
4.) On my first bootup it stayed on the bootlogo forever and just would not start up so save yourself some time and do a factory data reset before your first bootup and it will load up fine. The proper way to do a factory hard reset after flashing is to hold VOL DOWN + PWR till it vibrates and it will prompt you to press the power button twice to reset.
Everyone enjoy ICS on their Lg Thrills!
thanks so much!
I am running v20p stock, rooted and unlocked.
I suppose I can directly flash the renamed ics kdz?
And my thrill will be not rooted afyerwards, but still stays unlocked?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
As long as you follow all the steps above it will flash with no issues. Root and recovery are lost but I think there is a method to get both of them already. I will try to root and recovery later today. As far as staying unlocked after flashing, I am using straight talk so I didn't have to unlock. Hopefully someone else can help you out on that one.

Wow, I had given up hope. I will try it out since the ported ICS I've been on has some lingering issues with MMS and camera.

Does that mean the "Software Update" on a stock GB Thrill would install ICS?
Or maybe boot it into "Emergency Mode" (or whatever it is) and using the official LG Tool would work to get ICS without having to do all the smallsrv stuff?
I guess what I'm really asking is, if AT&T officially released ICS, isn't there an easier way to install it?
If you are on stock maybe you can install using the LG Mobile Support Tool. Trying to use that from my ported ICS has messed my phone up though. I'll have to try to rebuild it tonight, hopefully just using the Flash Tool to flash the bin and fls.
I flashed the Korean ICS, hated the bugs, and reverted to GB.
Trying to use the LGMobile Support Tool to install official ICS and it fails. So I guess I'll have to flash the kdz manually.
The Mobile Support Tool appeared to be working for me, until it tried to reboot and I got an "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen.
Now I've used the bin and fls from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198069
After flashing the above with LGFlashTool, I still booted into the "Encryption Unsuccessful" screen, but powered down by long-pressing Power, then turning back on into factory reset mode with Volume down + Power. Following the reset, I appear to be running okay now.
Edit: Nevermind, having an issue , the phone won't work with either of the microSDs I have around. First it's saying they need to be formatted so I attempt that. Then it says the card is damaged.

I had the same problem. You need to go to settings - storage and clear both memories. After that, everything is going to be ok. Do you know how to root this official ICS version? (Already tried the adb and unlock root methods to no avail)

Thanks! I just stumbled into this and was coming to add the fix too! Both cards back !
I was going to attempt this method for root, but haven't tried yet - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39338374&postcount=3
I got the KDZ flashed. Running Official unrooted AT&T ICS now.
However, it seems I didn't do a factory reset and didn't NEED to. It's running just fun.
My system ROM is 619MB with 7.38MB free.
I'm wondering if that's normal... That's going to make some things pretty tough. (Guessing unsintalling Gulliver's Travels and that other crap will help)
I did the reset. My system memory is showing 102 MB of Apps (I installed a handful of things already), and 770 MB available.

I meant System ROM, not internal.
And odd, finally rooted, browsing SystemROM with ES File Explorer. Gulliver's not there. Biggest app is Golf and LG Home at 16MB each...
I remember someone made an app to get rid of most of the AT&T crap. That still work for ICS? I remember AT&T Contacts is required. Don't remove that...
Every boot takes a LONG ASS time, about 10 minutes, to scan my media. That's with no SD card inserted. I might do a factory reset.

no problem...
thank you! but that method does not have instructions and does not seem safe enough...
everyone keeps talking about this rom but no one is saying how to root the rom and no one is pointing out the 3D Converter problem, it does not work at all!!! it works the same way as the xbsall port LOL! and when it does, you can't adjust the brightness...:silly:
Its basically the same version as the xbsall port (v30b) but for some reason it cannot be rooted through the same methods...
I did a factory reset, and the phone stopped booting. Bizarre.
Anyways, I wiped everything but system, and reflashed the KDZ. It's booting now.
Then I flashed the ICS bootloader BUT I used the GB CWM v6. The other recoveries didn't seem to flash properly. So I'm stock rooted now. Now to remember what file to change to make the 3D button work as a shutter.
