I9000 stops charging every time it gets bumped (physical bump) eg when i put it down on a hard surface when on charge.
Irrespective of % charge state or charger type, very reproducible.
If i unplug charger and plug back in starts charging again.
Any ideas? Thanks

It might be a faulty charging port or charger.
Could be a loose connection when charging and this connection may be dirupted when the phone is bumped.
I think a faulty charging port may be the most likely problem

Is this normal? I don't remember my phone heating up while it was on the charger though I haven't had my phone for too long now.
I had the mini USB replaced when I accidentally stabbed my stylus into mini-USB port
it's possible that you left a data connection or gps going. Also it should warm up a little .
My tilt often has the same issue w/ heating up while charging. When it happens, the charge rate is very slow. It'll occur w/ or w/o the GPS or WiFi on. I don't remember it ever happening when charging on the stock AC charger, but if I charge with the auto charger (12V cigarette lighter) kit, or another AC charger with the same 5VDC output, but a higher current capacity, it'll happen often.
To clear the trouble, I unplug the charger, do a reset (don't jab your USB again!), and plug it back in after it's finished rebooting. Usually that clears my trouble.
It's seems that when I'm trying to charge my phone with my original charger or another wall charger, the battery doesn't getting charge above random number, the original battery was charged firstly to 70% and than to maximum 55%, I used a solar charger that maybe have output voltage which is higher or that giving more current (which I don't think it is).
I replaced my battery on aother one and now it's seems that I can charge it for more and stuff, but still the original charger can't, and when I'm charging through my PC or a portable charger, it's charging to the maximum.
My micro usb socket in the device is unstable and moving, there is maybe a connection between?
or maybe the chip who responsible to charging got ruined?
edit 22:13:
after more tests I feel the source of the problem is low voltage on the battery, which telling me that the problem is on the connector.
I changed cables, changed chargers, and checked every time the voltage on the battery that the device is sampling.
Try wiping battery stats and if it doesn't work go to your local electronic store and ask them to send your phone to mainentance and replace the connector
I tried wipe, and I bought already a connector and I will replaced by my self.

Sometimes on my phone if i charging to 70% say to me it's full charged, but it's still charging to 100%.
When it comes to 70% or 55% or 60% and the phone says its full, you must load and not unplug charger.
Sorry because my bad English.

it's because you are using stoch GB...
that's not the issue here...
is it just my unit or anyone else have this issue? the battery indicator (lock screen and notification bar) shows 99% and just wont go up anymore.
UPDATE 2: Trick - when the phone stop at 99% while charging after a while, unplug the cable and immediately plug the cable back in. The battery indicator now should show "Charged".
UPDATE 1: Seem to be a safety mechanism to protect the battery from overcharged.
Also notice the following issues:
2) battery indicator may show as still charging when cable is already unplugged (only happened 2 times so far)
3) screen on by itself randomly while charging (not always but do happen some times)
4) battery discharging mechanism (to protect from over charge) may go haywire! It may go down from full/ 99% to 90% or less while still charging (may be related to (1) ).
Check your cable while charging. Also check to see if its charging as AC not USB. When it switches to USB, then screen will turn on.

Can't speak for the other 2 issues, but only charging to 99% isn't really a bug. This used to occur on the Galaxy Nexus. More reading here
Battery Charges Only to 99%
You can just ignore it, as it's apparently a way to safeguard the battery. Not sure the exact percentage point at which your battery stats reset, but it will have already occurred at 99%, for sure.

I was charging with AC, and I used a cable which is for charging only (can't transfer data). I tried it again today with the original cable from the Nexus 4 box, and have not noticed the screen turn on by itself again... Suppose it is the cable fault.
As for the stuck charging icon, it happened twice since I got the phone, but have not appeared again. Can't pinpoint the issue.

Ah... this is my first Nexus device. Surprised to find that it is actually a safeguard feature :silly: well as long as it is not faulty I guess I just have to get used to it. Thanks for sharing.
It has to be the dumb usb adaptor that comes with the phone. Mines charges perfectly fine to 100% using an LG AC wall charger I bought.. And even if I restart the phone it stays as charged at 100, USB would be at 99% when I rebooted..

yea my screen turns on randomly sometimes.
also, try this , when u plug in your charger to the wall but dont plug it into the phone , listen to it itll sound like its gonna explode.
Yesterday after a bit of browsing i connected my charger as battery level reached 2%. To my surprise the charging indicator din't appeared. I opened my battery monitor app to check the problem. It showed AC plugged in and not charging. The tempreature was -30C. After a little research i found out that phone does not charge under 4C. Now my phone is stuck at 1% with charger connected all the time. Since my phone is rooted i can change the value of that limit of 4C to -30C. My question is where can i find this file?
Maybe it's better to see why the temp reading is wrong? So instead of lowering the value in the system fix the temp reading, or that's what I'd do.
I really have no idea where to find the charging temp settings but I have a couple of suggestions, you could try to turn the phone off and see if it charges, or connect a magnetic charger charger, or connect both the magnetic and MicroUSB charger together while the phone is on/off.
Can't think of anything else. Good luck!

I have not done any software changes recently so its most probably a hardware problem. I have tried charging in switch off, its showing the current battery level instead of charging. Perhaps the sensors work even when the phone is off. Tried magnetic charger also, results are same as microusb charger. Changing those value is my last option.

Did you try connecting both magnetic and MicroUSB together?

Finally my phone came back to life after 20 days of charging. I fear using magnetic charger bcoz i there have been reports of sudden death of phone after using it.

Really??
I didn't know that! I've charged my phone with magnetic charger for some time,(a month, more or less) and it just died.
But it didn't die after using it, it died the moment I connected the magnetic charger.
So i've had charging problems on and off for a while but last night was weird. So I charge my phone on my 2.0 car charger but the battery percent goes down, then i get home and attach it to a 1.2 wall charger that usually will charge it. I wake up and my phone is completely dead, i did check the icon and it was charging when i sat it down.. I then disconnect the charger and plug it back in, after about 10 seconds the screen changes to a charging icon on the black screen.
I can maybe understand an app draining my battery or maybe my car charger not putting out enough, but for it to not charge when it dies is strange.

Check what mAh it is pulling in when charging. Download "Ampere" from Play Store. It will also tell you how much mAh is draining when it is not plugged in.
I had the same problem when I had damaged (cheap) usb cable.
try to change it.
Also you might have dust in your phone port. try to clean it carefully. (youtube videos should help with ideas how to clean it)
