Sent from my Hot**** Atrix.
I wish it was this easy to get a Bell SBF
Nice! Thank you and the anonymous source
FYI This update was recalled by Motorola
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/47993?tstart=0
thank you ....nice shot here
edit:
Unfortunately for rooted users, Motorola’s 1.5.7 update has patched the “psneuter” hole that previously allowed for Superuser root access. Overall, looks like a fairly minor update from Motorola for Atrix users. No word yet on a Bell version of the update, but I’m sure an OTA for the Bell Atrix can’t be too far behind.

site answered my question.. amazing what you can find from READING
anyone knows why it got recalled?
It wasn't recalled.. just updated 1minute ago
This phone and its issues are getting to be a little much...
flashed the SBF, halfway through i forgot since it cannot be rooted right now i can't restore all the apps using titanium. lol....what a pain manually doing it. So far so good, nothing really to report i guess. The only complaint i had before was when entering the car dock, if i wanted to open an app i would have to swipe the fingerprint reader in order to run anything. I hope this is fixed in the "misc car dock fixes" part. I'll find out later when i get in my truck.
EDIT: Also, teh touchscreen seems WAY too sensitive now. I keep inadvertently tapping things accidentally.
i tried flashing straight from gingerblur 7.2 and it failed. the process seemed to be working but at the end it failed. do i need to flash back to stock sbf first, then to this one?
Can't flash 1.5.7... currently with an aRooted 1.2.6...
Half way through the OTA update, it shows the Android logo with an exclamation mark...
Any ideas?

Never accept an OTA on a rooted device. Follow the instructions in this post and flash the SBF.

ah~!! I m gonna try now!!!!!
So my phone keeps screaming at me to install a update, stock Rom only rooted, downloaded it to find out I cant install it with out the stock recovery and it would probably unroot my phone....
So I'm kinda confused as to what I need to download to update.
This all steams from how my old lady is picking up 4G at our house on her s4 and I'm stuck on 3g and I think it's because I haven't updated in a long time.

I'm with you... I tried doing my own research, found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2795856) and asked if flashing the "Modified Firmware w/ Radio" file would be the correct one to give me all of the needed OTA updates. I was told yes (though as you mention, the size difference doesn't make sense), so I flashed it in Fastboot.
...and I still have the system update notification on my phone which I can't get rid of. If you figure it out, please post here. Thanks.
I hope to have the process all figured out once 5.0 is released so that I can upgrade without wiping, as folks who are not rooted and take the OTA will be able to do.

Have a look at this regarding Android L/5.0
I was notified of a system update on my tablet today. Got it downloaded and started the update. About a third of the way through, the little android fellow keels over, dead, with the dreaded red exclamation.... Error. Tried the update a few times, all with the same result.
Anyone else having this problem with this update? Any suggestions?
I have to laugh every time I see the dead android... it's just a perfect icon for the situation.

My baby is fully stock... no root, not unlocked. But come to think of it, I might have disabled a few of the apps. I'll look into that possibility. Thanks for the lead.
Updated: sorry... No go. The blue sphere still slows down and the droid drops dead.
I have rooted stock, and it's been a while since I've update firmware manually on stock that's rooted. I plain forgot how to do it. Can someone refresh my memory please? [emoji15]

You have to flash the stock recovery back and make sure all the bloatware that came with the rom is installed and not frozen.
The best way to go about this would be probably to flash sbdag's stock rooted rom, then flash the stock recovery from Droidbasement, then manually flash the firmware which you get from Asus downloads.
Not worth the trouble IMHO....

Download the firmware from Asus, unzip it once and copy that file to the root of your internal SD. You may have to reboot for the system to find it, but with stock recovery installed it should give you a notification.
That's how I remember it, but there was a lot of trouble for users trying to flash back to stock with the 4.2/4.3 update - don't quite remember, but I think those got solved when Droidbasement provided the flashable stock recovery.

What I've seen so far is mainly complaints about worse battery drain than on 4.3 [emoji12]
Even the version number indicates it's a minor one... Better keep a nandroid [emoji41] [emoji2]

Ah found the link.
http://droidbasement.com/asus/tf701t/stock/4.4.2/
Original problem ... solved.
My original post of the system update not "taking", has been solved.
I got the update from the Asus site, and manually updated my tablet. Thankfully, the little Android guy did not die this time.
So my phone is rooted with unlocked bootloader running faux kernel. I just received the ota update and clicked the button for restart and install. When I did that it brought me to my main option list in twrp. I didn't know what to do so I hit reboot system. It rebooted but nothing showed updating when I did that. Showing I'm still on 5.0.0.
What did I need to do? How do I still update now?
You cannot accept ota if you're modified.
You'll have to flash a ROM.zip or fastboot flash system.and boot image.from the factory images

If you download the image from google there is a zip drive with the files you are looking for inside of them. You can fastboot them individually.
Or you could just flash one of the many roms on here that are using the newer 5.0.2

That's the thing, I was trying to keep it relatively stock for a while. I don't see any reliable roms out there yet.
Give Sinless rom a try. There is a thread on here for it. It is based off of the office 5.0.1 image and not aosp. Great speed and features and decrypted

I made a thread outlining how to update to 5.0.1 after rooting/unlocking yesterday after noticing the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/how-to-flash-ota-updates-rooted-custom-t2996149
Should help
Anybody get it yet? Supposedly went official yesterday. About 300MB.
I unlocked your mum's bootloader.
It just arrived, and it was about 300MB. IT rebooted into TWRP, which just sat there. I rebooted, and then Andorid complained that the update didn't work. Well, duh!
That said, now I would like to know what I should have done or should do in the future. Any thoughts?
Mine just arrived
What's new?
Just found a story about it here - it is indeed the July update:
http://www.tmonews.com/2016/08/t-mobile-galaxy-note-4-note-edge-july-security-update/
Links in that article will eventually point you to here, where the update can be downloaded manually and installed via Samsung Smart Switch.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-16486#update_download
Since I am rooted I am actually not sure what to do, and would appreciate some advice.
300 mb is a big update. If you are rooted you will need to flash the new firmware in Odin. But you may want to hold off. I am note sure it adds any new features and will probably make your device incompatible with any ROMs that are currently available.

Thanks - sound advice.
So, where should I be looking on my Note 4 for the 300 MB download that happened earlier this morning, so I can delete it or copy/move it off for later?
I just got it but waiting to see if there are any bugs or negative effects. I'm not rooted so there's no way to go back.

Still looking and haven't found any clues for changelog, not even security update. Anybody?
I unlocked your mum's bootloader.
Yep...trying to figure out how to avoid the update too.
I'm stick rooted with XPosed, Beastmode kernel, and a few other mods.
I just did the update, and I can confirm that TWRP, root, and xposed all work.
I don't know about compatibility with custom roms though.

To shut the System Update tool up, I had to freeze it in Titanium Backup.

Yeah, if you can't find the update. You can just install the latest firmware you can find with odin, then update from settings.
Hi Folks,
I have no idea what "update from settings" means. Also, no idea where to start looking for the update - heck, I don't even know what to Google to find it. Thoughts?

From your device click settings look for about device click then at the top you will see (download updates manually) If you are rooted or removed any system apps dont go that route, the update will fail.. You then would just need the update file to flash with odin.. Might look in overdrives op.

So just to be clear, Overdrive is a MM-based T-Mobile ROM, basically just debloated and with some minor tweaks.
As a convenience, he has linked to "N910T Stock Odin Full EPG2 Firmware File," which we can flash using TWRP onto an otherwise stock+rooted MM 6.0.1.
I got this right?
