Possible to download files to SD card on Nook? - Nook Color General

You know where I'm going with this.... it would be great to download the nightlies right to the SD card on the nook and completely (almost) negate the need for the PC in this regard. Possible?

That's exactly what I do...

Ditto. Install Clockwork Recovery to eMMC, download nightly (bookmark http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=encore or use links for test builds on forums), reboot into recovery from menu on CWR, flash zip, profit!
To make my life a little easier I use ChromeToPhone to send the link of test builds to opera, then it downloads to SD. http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/

Hi guys I got moto milestone running 2.1 any ideas on how to get custom ROM on the phone and whenever I check my software update on my phone out says ' unable to connect to the server ' , tired of seeing this pop up everytime . PLZ help

If you want to upgrade to stock 2.2.1, you can flash them using rsdlite. List of stock 2.2.1 rom's is available below.
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone221
You can also use Motorola software update to upgrade.
For custom roms, you will need to flash VR first and then use AOR to flash the rom.

If you are referring to ROM Manager by Koush, don't use it. It is for the droid, not the milestone.

You have to press Volume Up and then the camera button
... or the other way around
Then you'll get a menu, use the volume buttons to select "Apply update.zip"
But this will only work if you've already copied the AOR update.zip to your SD card.
Which is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679
And here's a tutorial i used on my Milestone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698059
i followed the steps but it aient working
what is meant by " Now we need to put the open recovery on your SD card, so extract all the content from Androidiani OpenRecovery 3.3 on your SD card. They have to be on your SD Card, but not in an folder. So when you plug the card into the computer, you copy AOR to "Removable Disk" (the one that is your SD card) and that's it.

I had this working months ago, strangely it wouldn't work on cm7 but if I used sense on fire rom as my main rom it worked fine.
It sets up bootable images on your SD card and then the app changes your main boot.img and directs it to the rom's on your sdcard so anything you do on it when booted into a SD rom will be written to your SD not the phone.
I found it to be a little buggy, still quite useful for testing roms but its just as easy and less buggy to just use nandroids.

Who's is it? If it is yours, perhaps consider releasing a free version with a few less ROM switching abilities.
Maybe limit it to 3 or 2?

I agree with kylon, it doesn't touch your internal memory except for the app itself.
All the .IMG's are written to your sdcard in a folder called Boot Manager, then after selecting to boot an installed rom the app changes the boot path so it boots from your sd card instead of from the phone memory. If something goes wrong i.e bootloop etc you can easily go back to recovery and select advanced restore then restore boot from a nandroid backup and it should boot up into the main rom installed on your phone.

I really don't think it matters if it goes to internal or external. could be your signal was a little wonky and you got a bad download. always a good idea to check the md5 against the source before you install it. easy enough to do through root explorer.
In relation to this thread i just want to ask how can i update into JB coming from Overcome rom, what is the best custom ROM so far for the P1000
Any success, djerk?

Rooting tab 8.9

Hi, I have been trying to root my P7310 tab using the instructions and root files I found in several threads. My problem is that when I boot in recovery mode I don't get in the list of options the one that says 'apply update from SD card', I only get the option of updating from external storage or cache.
Anyone could help me with this?

Use the guide from here by nirogu325 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406137
It has all that you need. And when in recovery, it's not necessarily 'apply update from SD card'. Just choose the zip file that you have to flash to gain root. I suggest that you use TWRP recovery on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602188
Thanks for your help, I will try the instructions although they look a bit complicated for a near novice like me. My problem with the zip file is that when I am in recovery mode I cannot select any path leading to the SD Card root folder where the zip has been uploaded. It drives me nuts, it seems to work for everyone else but me!

The original gingerbread recovery had an option to flash zips. The ICS recovery did not. Rooting was way easier on GB because of this. The only way to root ICS is to install a custom recovery to flash a root.zip file.

Ok, I think I need some help. I cannot flash zip drives from the standard ICS recovery as I do not get the option of accessing the SD card (see photo attached) so I can't either root or flash CWMR zip. Well yeah I didn't mention that you should do a full wipe first because I thought you already knew that
anyway, hopefully messing up with your tab won't be necessary, cuz stock ICS is the best, personally I use this tweaked one:

It is the best!!!:victory:

You did not say earlier you could only boot to recovery. You need to go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new CWM bootable SD per item 1a and flash the plain stock ROM per item 6. That will get you back to like it came out of the box and you can start over.
