What did you do after downloading it to your sd card?
Which rom are you currently using?
Pls help me to help you.

I used rom manager to install, I'm on the stock rom started to load then failed

Update, I installed by copying the zips from my computer to my external sd all is going well so far, maybe direct install went to internal storage?

I really don't think it matters if it goes to internal or external. could be your signal was a little wonky and you got a bad download. always a good idea to check the md5 against the source before you install it. easy enough to do through root explorer.

In relation to this thread i just want to ask how can i update into JB coming from Overcome rom, what is the best custom ROM so far for the P1000

Any success, djerk?
My Tab2 7.0 is a GT-P3113 also, (rooted) and I would like to install Jelly Bean. Hoping to find someone who installed a stable JB version on same. Were you attempting JB? Did you find a way?

[Q] Installing ROM from sd fails

I just rooted my froyo Droid with easy root. I downloaded a rom from my pc to sd card. Used rom manager to install. Fails everytime. Help?
I don't know anything about this 'easy root' I keep hearing about. But if you have the superuser icon and have flashed either SPRecovery or ClockWorkRecovery you might have gotten a bad link. Whichever ROM you wanna put on there download another one from another source and give it another shot. Or rename the ROM to update.zip leave it on the root of your sdcard and 'allow update.zip installation' then install update.zip

Rom Manager is full of sick roms. Why look for external roms?

Possible to download files to SD card on Nook?

You know where I'm going with this.... it would be great to download the nightlies right to the SD card on the nook and completely (almost) negate the need for the PC in this regard. Possible?
That's exactly what I do...

Ditto. Install Clockwork Recovery to eMMC, download nightly (bookmark http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=nightly&device=encore or use links for test builds on forums), reboot into recovery from menu on CWR, flash zip, profit!
To make my life a little easier I use ChromeToPhone to send the link of test builds to opera, then it downloads to SD. http://code.google.com/p/chrometophone/

Update

Hi guys I got moto milestone running 2.1 any ideas on how to get custom ROM on the phone and whenever I check my software update on my phone out says ' unable to connect to the server ' , tired of seeing this pop up everytime . PLZ help

If you want to upgrade to stock 2.2.1, you can flash them using rsdlite. List of stock 2.2.1 rom's is available below.
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone221
You can also use Motorola software update to upgrade.
For custom roms, you will need to flash VR first and then use AOR to flash the rom.

If you are referring to ROM Manager by Koush, don't use it. It is for the droid, not the milestone.

You have to press Volume Up and then the camera button
... or the other way around
Then you'll get a menu, use the volume buttons to select "Apply update.zip"
But this will only work if you've already copied the AOR update.zip to your SD card.
Which is available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=796679
And here's a tutorial i used on my Milestone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698059
i followed the steps but it aient working
what is meant by " Now we need to put the open recovery on your SD card, so extract all the content from Androidiani OpenRecovery 3.3 on your SD card. The archive contains an update.zip + an OpenRecovery folder, they both need to be at the root of your SD card " how do i put those files in the root , please help

They have to be on your SD Card, but not in an folder. So when you plug the card into the computer, you copy AOR to "Removable Disk" (the one that is your SD card) and that's it.

i did the same but it gets stuck with the caution sign and doesn go further , i also redid it but i can't find a way to do it
please give me the link to download AOR

help please lost back up

hi,
i'm stuck with updating my nook hd+ to kitkat.
i seem to have lost the backup rom (i think i formatted the micro-sd that it was on by mistake).
i do not seem to be able to update to any rom as i get an error saying...
E: Can't open / external_sd/cm-11-20140606-nightly-ovation (1).zip
(bad)
installation aborted
it says this with all the roms i tried.
i did get the same problem with my S3 until i found the fusion rom, which worked ok.
ps i am on recovery v6.0.4.5
thanks in advance.

Try downloading the ROM zip directly to the nook rather than your PC. Sometimes the PC antivirus will corrupt the zip.

You did not say earlier you could only boot to recovery. You need to go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new CWM bootable SD per item 1a and flash the plain stock ROM per item 6. That will get you back to like it came out of the box and you can start over.

Thanks you're a life saver.
Any idea why it won't take an roms ?
