Hi All,
I an currently running a rooted version of 2.1. The build number is ECLAIR.XWJG1.MCR-r2.
The baseband version is I9000XXJG1.

It's a rooted version of the Modaco custom rom.
I am guessing that I will encounter problems if I try to use Kies. I am in Ireland so the UK firmwares would apply to me.

[Q] SGS Vibrant I9000M upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.4!

Hi,
Is it possible to upgrade with the recently leaked European Gingerbread 2.3.4 image to the Bell's Vibrant I9000M?
I'm currently running Froyo 2.2, firmware UGKC1. Have downloaded the official 2.3.4 from samfirmware.com and already rooted and unlocked my phone.

It is... i would suggest going this route instead of through the one from samfirmware.
I use darky's ROM. I upgraded to 10.1 (it is 2.3.3), then recently upgraded via CWM to Dark Core 2.7.3 (which has the 2.3.4 GB firmware). Beware that the core is beta at this time, and so far in 2 days i haven't had any real issues on my phone.
www.darkyrom.com, then check the forums.
We are quite in Sync. Co-incidentally I upgraded to Darky's ROM(10.1) about an hour back. I'll give a try to the Beta now. Pls do share your experience with the beta overtime.
Thanx

So far so good... other than my battery. Although i do have a momax 2700mah battery, it only lasted 30ish hours before it died... including using superpower to manage night time usage. I should be getting more than that with this battery (and i have done the reconditioning with the battery since i got it).
Even with 10.1 i got a day and a half or so... but the half day doesn't work for me as i need it for a full day.
Now that i've done one round of recondition on my battery, i'm anxious to see how good the battery will last now.
10.1 works with the JVP kernel fine (at least some of the features for it). I had to upgrade gtalk to the video talk version myself though (although i'm sure it'll be included in the next darkyrom).
Let me know what you think of it...

[email protected] #4

ps my phone is already rooted
you can get gingerbread, but you need to take the extra step of flashing the kc1 modem, or do the 850 band tweak on a euro modem

I could say after if you using Odin.
But before starting ask yourself what do you really want....
Just the 2.3.4 stock or a custom rom (like Darky's), rooted?, Aply a new theme?

Almost stock ROM question

I have a Bell Incredible S. Rooted and installed Cyanogen last week. I've used Cyanogen on about 4 different devices now and have never really played with any stock roms. Main reason for not doing that is the crap/bloatware the carriers install.
So my question is, are there any Stock roms available with carrier software removed that you can suggest for my Bell model?
TIA
Once you have rooted your phone, you can use titanium backup to remove any & all of the bloatware/crapware you want. on any stock rom as well
Arhd is like an optimized stock ROM..
It's really awesome

CM Froyo 2.2.3 ROM?

Is there a cm based Froyo 2.2.3 ROM out there for our phones?
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
There will *most likely* not be a 2.2.3 cm6 rom because cyanogenmod & co is way past supporting froyo and had already moved onto ICS. Plus, 2.2.3 doesn't offer any significant changes from 2.2.2, only some security patches..
I would like a ICS but that will not be for a long time.
Is there a CM based 2.2.1 then? I'm using 2.2.1 NameLeszFroyo.

Sure - one of the best roms for the g1 - froyobylaszlo, if you want go with just cm6 but its not fast on a dream
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App
I have used lazlos Froyo I like this one better. Is a custom ROM faster than a rooted OTA? How do I find the latest rooted OTA for T-mobile mytouch 3g 32b?
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
For 32b the latest update supported is 1.6 - i think you mean what is the latest aosp - thats 2.3.7 for the dream there are a couple of builds the best one is probably ezgingerbread
And there arent rooted over the air updates
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App
The latest supported was Froyo released by t-mobile unsure if there is a rooted version
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Thats right, i use a g1 so i only get ota updates to 1.6 i didnt pay attention to your mytouch note. So if you were to root, update your radio and spl, then you will be able to get faster roms, roms with more flare, and you will be able to over / underclock at will speeding up your phone or getting better battery life. So to answer your question yes if you root then you can have a faster / beter rom
