i have two hd7 phones one updated to 7.0.7390 just fine, the other hung after first update. T-mobile and htc's fix is to send a new phone. I have powered down, powered down and removed battery, and did a factory reset. still no update. I also tried a different pc still no recognition for second update. Anyone else having this issue.
I had the same issue but I forced nodo.
there is another thread in the development area, i forced it and it worked
Lookfor Force NoDo update in the General section and download the software in the thread. I was having the same issue as you and this is is what i did once i had downloaded the software:
I was having problems updating my 2nd HD7 phone...it kept telling me I had the most current verstion; however i had updated my another HD7 minutes earlier to NoDo. This is what I did , 1st make sure you're choosing the correct version PPTP Hungary and not LT2P hungary...i made that mistake. Then connect your phone and I turn off the data connection and 3g, leave wifi on for now...I open zune and manually went to device, update and once it was searching for an update i waited 20-25 seconds and i turned off the wifi off , wait 3-5 seconds and then on..(i think i this a couple of times)...like someone here mentioned earlier...and it was able to see the Mar 2011 update...I'm telling you I was stuck at the 7008 update...and this really worked!

Hi there,
I recently upgraded to the i-mate ROM (see my signature) and then also upgraded to the latest radio stack. I live in S. Florida. I upgraded my device the day we got power back, or a few days after Wilma blew through. I figured the issue I was having was from lack of complete cell service.. however.. now I am thinking it may be an OS or Radio stack glitch.
Every so often, at random, and as a result of no special operation I have performed (at least none I can identify) my device will simply not be able to connect for data. I will still be able to place & receive calls.. but data will not connect.
Just so you know.. I am not expecting a data connection while on the phone. This happens when I am not using the phone but rather just checking email.
Rather than soft reset (which works too) I simply turn on flight mode.. then a second later turn flight mode off, and within seconds I am back in business.
Before I call Tmobile and have them tell me it's the device, I want to be sure it is (or is not) the device.
Has anyone had this issue with the new i-mate ROM? Or.. just the problem in general?
Lastly.. I've been a member here for about 5 weeks. I have never played with ROM updates and I have to say that the people on this forum are great. I learned a ton about getting my device updated and had no issues just by reading all of the posts relevant to my topics.
Thanks in advance.
If memory serves me right, the problem is resolved by downgrading to an earlier version of the CALLER_ID cab - or something similar. I have the same problem, I just haven't suffered with it enough to bother fixing it. I know there are threads about it cause that's where I found the answer. All I do is to switch on/off flight mode whenever I undock from teh cradle each morning & then manually connect to GPRS. It stays connected all day without a problem, disconnecting only when I re-dock in the evening
Head over to this link. This is working for many US owners including myself. Thank you Bonebreaker, Devs, XDA. Love this site

Wait.. so you guys counted to 40 and then turned off your data connection?
Good to hear guys, I waited 35 sec. Badcam3 yes thats when you cut off data. Some people have reported over 60 sec, some 15. Good luck!
No joy on O2 uk.
It worked for my unbrand asia HD7, Its great thanks !!!
it works kinda
Okay so I tried this and it updates successfully (had to wait nearly 60 second)
I was successfully running NoDo and I tested almost everything, but
DNS was not working, I tried over Wifi everything was fine, tried my data connection and got the error message "could not find DNS server.
I'm restoring my phone using zune, and see if that resolves it.
If that does, I'm just going to bite the bullet and unbrand that SOB with the NoDo rom using the method outlined by ansar here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001019
Edit:
I actually I think it's a t-mobile issue, I left my nexus at home so I can't verify. To make matters worse I hard reset my phone, after downgrading my rom version. FUC*!!!
Edit 2:29Pm 03/30/2011
Yes it was a t-mobile thing. Hardreset and downgraded for no reason. Good news as soon as I reconnected to Zune I got NoDo update immediately
-good part is, Zune restore works flawlessly for those who are wondering.

Though I like to think I have pretty good sense of time, I used my watch just to be extra precise.
Hey guys, I wanted to clear some things up for you guys since some seem a bit confused about the timing.
The timing differs for EVERYONE! You need to time how long it says "checking for updates" or whatever. Once you get that time, lets call it "n", you do it again (with cellular data on). Before you search for an update again, I went to the "phone updates" in the settings tab, make sure the "check for updates via cellular data" is checked, you want to stay here while zune looks for your update. Now manually search for an update and at approximately (n-1)seconds you want to uncheck that box. Your phone should show a notification that says there's an update available.
IF IT IS TOO LONG OF A READ, BASICALLY EVERYONES TIMING IS DIFFERENT!
It worked on 3rd attempt due to timing. But it is okay. And it kept itself jailbroken and I can sideload anything just like before.
Great.
PS: This should be pinned, IMHO.
We both Have HD7's on O2 in the UK and we both have Mango RTM leaked on our phones.
This morning she was notified that there was an HTC update for her phone, after installing it she now has new radio and firmware. Quite a bit newer than mine.
I can't force mine to get the update and the only difference between the two phones is that mine has bootloader version 1.*** and hers has version 4.***. Could this be the reason I have not got the update?
Or would that have been updated by HTC? (I did force install NODO on mine and think I needed to change the bootloader then)
Am I destined to never get another update? Can I change my bootlloader? Any help much appreciated.
All RTM and Normal WP7 phones will get the Update regardless, its just that MS does them in batches and your wife's phone was the lucky one in the first batch.
You can try force the update in Zune with the disconnecting trick.
Just have patience as all phones will be updated by end November.
So it has nothing to do with the provisioning of the device from when I updated from the beta servers for beta2?
In addition to all this, Connection setup will not run. So I uninstalled it and now I cannot install it again because it says it is not designed for my device in the marketplace. Why is that?
HTC HUB and some applications seem to be affected if you update from RTM to the Official HTC one
THe work around I found was to 'FACTORY RESET' your Phone after the HTC Update.
To HARD RESET your Phone
http://www.hard-reset.com/htc-hd7-hard-reset.html
Thank you for all your advice.
But do you think this would prohibit me from recieveing the firmware update?
So, I bought an used HTC HD7, to use with T-Mobile USA's Prepaid service. The previous owner was rough on the device, and never updated it. I ran all the updates to Mango, and was happy to have a WP7 device again.
About a week later, I was in a Tim Hortons, and tried to connect to their WiFi. My phone's WiFi had a mini freakout (as did my CR-48, but I just swtiched that to VZW 3G), and didn't think much of it. Since then, my WiFi has been ****.
When I go to the Settings app, and turn on WiFi, the slider turns itself on and off a few times, and sometimes sees networks, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it just reboots. If it sees the networks, I can connect for maybe two minutes, and then WiFi just shuts off.
I know this isn't a problem with my router. I've double checked, reset the bands, configured a 2.4GHz G band just for the device, no luck. No other device has a problem with the home WiFi, and the problems continue on other networks.
I reset the device through Settings > About. I reset the device by holding the volume buttons on startup, and hitting volume down to reset there. I restored the original software, and WiFi seemed to work just fine. I reinstalled Mango, same result. I restored the device, and used a second computer to upgrade to Mango. Same result. I wiped and installed the Touch-IT ROM (V3), and the WiFi won't even turn on. I'm going to Task 29, and install the stock ROM through the EXE found in the HD7 shipped ROMs section, to see if that works.
I tried looking in dialer codes, but I couldn't find any that worked with the HD7, to try and find a WiFi restore in there. Any thoughts?
(And yes, I've contacted HTC, but I'm not the original owner, and he gave it a reasonable amount of cosmetic damage, and my past experiences with sending electronics in for warranty, has been abysmal to say the least. Their only suggestion was to call and see if it still had a warranty. Considering the phone hasn't been out for a year, I'm a little disapointed that there's a question there...)

Sweet, I just got the update on my HD7 from Bell. How could HTC have been so wishy-washy on this, they've clearly planned it...

same situation here... waiting for solution
Was pleased to get the update today... 3 updates in total...
Lovin the new homescreen... :good:
Also, the new colours are great... Even the old colours look better (red/orange)... They really have body, like an amoled without an amoled...
No "Trick", no Tool...
Just go to Zune and ... hey there's an UPDATE.
Love new Homescreen.
And my Lumia 710 just wait for it.
Does this mean the HD7s will get it too?
The relation between this 2 models confuses me and I couldn't find a hd7s specific forum
(Maybe I'm a n00b... Like the ones mentioned in the video haha)
The trick method with zune (pulling out the cable) didn't work for me for the last two days, but I had to do a hard reset on the phone and changed the system locale to English (Canada), and that seemed to get the update done - I had seen a bunch of Canadians getting the update, so I tried this and it worked!
US T-Mobile HD7 upgrade to 7.8
Has anyone gotten upgrade to 7.8 on their phone?
I tried the disconnect method, but no joy.
Use Seven-Eighter, it worked for me.
Don't forget to select all languages you have installed to update.
Spanish HD7 updated to 7.8!
Hi, I just wanna share my experience with you:
NOTE 1: First of all, try a normal update on Zune without doing any special trick, Many people is updating the device without any special action!
NOTE 2: There are some data consumption related bugs. Check them here.
This has been my experience:
There are 3 updates to install, as previously mentioned: 7.10.8779.8 --> 7.10.8783.12 --> 7.10.8858.136
These are the steps to follow on each update, taken from several posts over the net as this:
1) Disconnect WiFi and other data connections on the device.
2) Connect device to Zune
3) Go to settings->phone->update
4) While searching for updates for the device count to 5 and disconnect internet on your computer (WiFi, ethernet, whatever...).
5) Wait about 30 seconds for the Zune response.
6) If "no updates available" or "error searching" or similar response is shown, go to another option in the left menu and then repeat the process from step 3. If "update found", go to Step 7.
7) Reconnect Internet access (ethernet, WiFi...) on your computer (not the phone).
8) Follow instructions to install the update
Some notes:
- I have spent more than 15 tries to make Zune show the update. It depends on Internet/computer response when searching to Microsoft update servers. If 5 seconds don't work for you, try changing the wait time. In my case, started with 1 second, then 2, then 3... 5 resulted to be the perfect one. The second and third update only used 3 search attemps. Using wireshark may help, look at instructions explained by user "medeis" on a comment in this page: here.
- 1st update is very slow, the second and the third is much faster (no backup required as in first).
- Repeat this procedure for every update (3 in total).
It worked for me on my unbranded HTC HD7 from Spain. It runs very smoothly, but nothing special apart from the new tiles (ok, great), accent colors (unnecessary, don't know why I can't choose one from a color picker...) and lock screen (my child is more beautiful thant any bing image...)
Cheers,
xdomingo
i think , removing simcard ! is only thing we need. works for me in first hours 7.8 coming ...

I'm still wondering about this. I haven't heard anything about updates for the HD7S at all and I've been searching for two days.
Then again, I'm a n00b too. *sigh*

Zune offered me the 7.10.8860.142
no tricks, no magic or "quantum healing" pseudoscience (for you new age ignorants)
from now on, xda-developers.com can LOL at this assholes:

ROFL!!!
The moral in this tale: WPCentral are STUPIDS
Question for anyone who streams music over bluetooth; how is the sound quality? In previous versions, audio bitrates were purposely crippled in the registry and it sounded awful. Did they fix that? Zune has started to badger me about this update as well, and I'm tempted to update. I'm running a modded firmware just to get around the bluetooth issue and don't want to update if it's just going to get me crappy sound quality again...
