Restoring the Streak 7 using NVFlash - Dell Streak 7

Restoring the Streak 7 using NVFlash
This will bring your device back to the unrooted 2.2.2 stock ROM. This has only been tested by the OP (me) on a T-Mobile 4G version. If you use this on other models, I cannot guarantee it's usefulness.
(Windows Only Instructions) If you’re a Linux user, you should be able to 'translate' this yourself.
This is for those who cannot use fastboot or adb. If you can successfully use these tools, DO NOT use NVFlash. You will lose all your data on your device. Do not proceed with these instructions if you are not expecting to lose all personal data on the device.
Step 1) APX Drivers – To work in NVFlash mode you need to install the drivers for the nvidia boot-recovery device. Power off your device and disconnect it from the computer. Hold down the Volume up & down buttons while plugging in the USB cable. (Or leave the USB cable attached and hold the pinhole ‘power off’, hold down the volume Up & Down and release the pinhole ‘power off’.) (The volume button seems like a rocker switch, but you can hold down both sides at once)
Your computer should now recognize the Streak 7 as an APX device. Manually install it using the nvidia boot-recovery drivers.

Step 2) Install NVFlash. For ease of function simply create a folder on your C:\ drive called ‘nvflash’. Download the nvflash zip and extract it to the nvflash folder.
Step 3) Download the 13 img files that make up the original partitions of the device. Files p2.img through p14.img. Put these files in the C:\nvflash folder. ***You can skip the 14.img file (Don't put it in the NVFlash folder) if you want to attempt to keep your original internal SD Card data, but again, no guarantees.

Step 4) Launch (double-click) the Restore.bat file from the C:\nvflash folder. This batch command will begin copying the partitions to the device. Wait patiently as your device is being restored.
Step 5) Once all of the partitions have been written, use the pinhole ‘power off’ button next to the SD card to power off the device. Now power it back on normally to enjoy your restored Streak 7.
If you have trouble with any of the links or corrupted files, please pm me or reply to this thread.
That's all I can do folks. Ran out of free space on my free storage site.
*** Update *** If you are still stuck at boot logo, check to see if you can get into fastboot mode, if so,
finish restoring with the fastboot method.
************* Also, I recently used this method to restore from Honeycomb. I too was again stuck at the Dell logo. However, I was able to use the recovery menu (Vol Up + Power) and do a factory reset and was fine from there.

Figured it might fail. Its the biggest one and it dropped a few times in the transfer. Will give a heads up when it is available. Might not be till the morning.

I was able to restore my boot and recovery partitions using the files you have already provided. Thanks for the excellent work. I am now using Clockwork to finish the job for the system recovey.

Thank you so much for sharing.
Downloaded files and waiting for p14.

im having trouble downloading p11 also. tried flashing all but p11, but nothing has changed!?!? thanks for sharing
edit: did finally get p11 to download, tried again, still no change. everything said it went fine on nvflash, but streak 7 still stuck in apx mode?

So- I have gone from a corrupted system that would boot with no fastboot or recovery mode into an operating environment that was unusable due to repeated force closures. Now thanks to these files I have been able to restore my system and finally apply Steve's 2.2.2 rooted with clockwork. Thanks to Illdill, Steve and everyone on the forum!

You will need the p11 for a successful restore. p14 may not be required as some have had success without it. Keep trying for the p11 file. It may be an issue with the online storage site I chose, or if you could use a download manager, that may help.

What happens when you use the pinhole to power it off then attempt to power it on normaly?
Also, are you using the flash.cfg, flash.bct, fastboot.bin and bootloader.bin from the nvflash.zip I provided?

Yes, nvflash mode should only give you the back, menu and home lights. Screen will remain black.
Can you get into fastboot or recovery?

worked for me without p14 Thanks man! Although I have a replacement coming.. at least I can play with it, configure it the way I want again then back it up, then when the new one comes just restore it to that one

Oh and another thing.. everything on my internal sd card was still there! All the files that were there that I downloaded, my titanium backups, clockwork recovery back ups.. all of that was there

Dell Streak 7 - always boots into CWM - no fastboot

I picked up a Dell Streak 7 from my nephew. He said he erased his data (formatted?). It now boots into Clockworkmd Recovery v3.0.2.0 - ALWAYS. I cannot get it to boot into fastboot, etc.
I have read many forms posts, and there is varying degrees of succes by other people. I have installed adb and fastboot applications on my pc, but I cannot see the unit connected - so, I can't upload any roms. I can go into CWM mod and mount the USB so I can transfer files to the sdcard.
If you have a solution, or can point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
for now, I'm still searching.....
You can start with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Dell_Streak_7/Flashing_Guide#Setting_up_fastboot_for_windows and search for anything with the word "Guide" in it. Seems like you need to HVflash something else first to start off and go from there.
I've read the link a few times. The problem is my unit ALWAYS boots into the CWM. I CANNOT get it to boot into fastboot. ADB and Fastboot do not see the unit.
I haven't tried nvflash yet. Still reading, trying not to brick the unit in the process.
Should I be trying to restore the unit to factory defaults? What it proper ROM to load? Update.zip?

You probably don't have the proper drivers loaded. I had a problem with drivers at first also, they are in the download but buried inside other folders which isn't clearly explained in anything I ever read. You must have the ADB and fastboot files in the same folder.
NVflash wipes everything and might be your best bet.
You can install any ROM you want. I'm on ICS B4 but might be using this to go back to HC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26033321#post26033321
Got it going.
I had to use nvflash to flash the ROM into the system. But first, I had to find the drivers. I used the Nvidia drivers.

can you please elaborate..
Same thing happened to me this morning. I went into settings/ account to erase my personal data and do a factory reset. For some reason it went into CWM, so i did the wipe data and everything seemed ok, but then it Always booted in CWM and haven't been able to get out..
Mine is a Tmo 4g version, I still had the 2.2.2 on it and want to keep it that way.

I have a S7 that will only boot to CWM (dell logo and straight into CWM). I bought it cheap that way figuring I could fix it. I think I get it into NVflash mode by holding the + and - volume buttons and clicking the power reset button by the SD card slot while the USB is plugged in. It lights up the three touch buttons and the power green light is on but my PC does not see it. I'm running windows 8. Please help. I have everything I need to NVflash per the above link but can't get back the PC recognizing the S7.
Thank you very much.

How do I root manually?

Hello everyone!
I'm a new member from today but I have read (and read and read...) the threads here and on every forum I could find, in desperate search for an answer to my questions, but so far I have found none.
Don't shop my head of now but could someone please be so kind and help me root my LG Optimus 2x by giving me a step-by-step info AND include the correct files AND then tell me what to do to have them installed?
There seem to be all too many different alternatives and I am really confused!
Here's what I've done so far -
I had Gingerbread installed and got the phone rooted with SuperOnecClick.
Upgraded then the phone to Ice Cream Sandwish 4.0.4 with LG Support Tool and lost root.
Tried to root with SuperOneClick again but constantly got stuck at # 5 or # 7 (waiting for device).
So, how do I root and where do I find the correct firmware for this?

Hi there,
Since you upgraded to official ICS, you can't use SuperOneClick to get root access again, but fear not as there are alternatives. Here you will find three different methods to root your device. In your case, I believe you need to use either the second or third option listed there.
Be aware that the third option will wipe your device, including your internal SD card, so it'd be a good idea to backup first, just in case. All three methods are harmless, but you never know.
Thank you for your reply! Now I'm on and a step closer in fixing this.
So, my phone cannot be rooted because of Official ICS?! Oh!
- that was new news to me and it could have saved me countless of hours if I had found that information out sooner. A pity I did not write here weeks ago!
I have some more questions though and I think I'm going for the 2nd option in the link you gave me.
"Put your phone into nvflash mode". Do I need a tool for that? (Here I was linking to a nvflash-setup, but as I am a new memeber I am not allowed to post outside links yet). Or do I just hold down volyme + power in order to get into that nvflash mode?
By "unzipping attached archive" I assume it means zipping it on the PC and not on the SD card?
When doing this procedure, do I have the phone in Charging or Mass storage mode?
Just a few questions I hope you (someone) have to time to give me an answer to - Thank you!

To enter nvflash mode turn off your device, remove the battery, then press and hold Vol- and Power at the same time and plug your phone to your PC via USB. Then follow the rest of the instructions.

Yep ^^ you need to extract the files from the zip to your PC.
Ok, next question :
"boot into cwm and flash SuperSU Root.zip"
How am I suppose to flash anything when the telephone is black and I'm not into it and only work from the computer?
How do I do that?
I'm stuck with a black screen only on the phone.
I heared nothing or saw nothing that sais (sound) that the phone is connected through the USB, but I have followed each step and are now stuck at above question.
Greatful for more help!

Hm. I have now read more closely on the linked site. Why am I to download ICS again, I already have the same ROM?
Or do you mean I have to change the official ROM to this one in order to root properly?

No, there's no need to reflash ICS. The second method listed there just flashes the unlocked bootloader + root + custom CWM, and it won't touch your data & settings.

That's OK. When in nvflash mode, you won't see anything on screen. All you'll get is the sound it makes when connected to USB.
Don't worry, you're nearly there! Keep going!
Edit: just realized I made one small mistake. To enter nvflash mode, you need to press and hold both Vol+ & Vol- at the same time (this also requires removing the battery first). Sorry about that!

Oh! That explains why. My next question was published above your question and still remains.
How do I "boot into cwm and flash SuperSU Root.zip"?
Edit : This procedure does somehow not work on XP so I changed to Windows7 and have now come a bit further. The only thing remaining now is that the computer sais that it cannot find the USB device.
I have downloaded the LG modem and USB firmware but maybe I need something else? Does the firmware in a folder on C: just as NvFlash and SU-folder.
Got OK with USB firmware and all set to go now.
But, in NVFlash Recovery it sais :
Please pick bootloader, or exit (1,X)? (I pressed 1)
Attempting to flash bootloader...
Nvflash started
USB device not found
Program will now exit
So, I'm stuck.
The phone can be found both in Mass Storage mode and I got a OK that the drivers are installed.

Alright, it sounds like you still need the APX drivers. I believe you can find it somewhere on the Development forum (find tonyp's threads, I'm sure he has posted it there). If you already did this, then remember to hold and press both Vol buttons when selecting option 1 so Nvflash can connect to your device and do all the magic.
Don't give up yet, you're a few seconds away from rooting your device (and learning stuff at the same time ^^).
Tried exactly as you said but still no luck. But I'm not giving up!
I found a APX driver. Installed and unziped in the same file as NvFlash. Rebooted PC and tried again.
Still no luck - "USB device not found".
What am I doing wrong?
BEFORE removing the battery from mobile, shall I have Mass Storage or Charging marked?
Do I need to have USB Debugging marked or not?
Latest Update :
I managed to install Nvidia usb boot recovery in the device manager and it's OK.
The device is now found and I got the phone into S/W Upgrade please wait while upgrading-mode.
And there I am - stuck. Nothing more happens. It has freeze.
What do I do next?
A question : How do I "boot into cwm and flash SuperSU Root.zip" - how do I do that?
Nice! Has nvflash finished flashing? If so, it should be safe to unplug the device now.
Put the battery back on, press and hold both Power and Vol- at the same time until the second LG logo appears to enter CWM. From there, select "Install zip from SD card" (or something similar) and select the SU zip file you previously stored onto your sdcard. CWM will then flash the necessary files to root your device! Once done, reboot and enjoy!
Hi again! It's not going as well unfortunately. Very mysterious. *laugh*
"until the second LG logo appears to enter CWM. From there, select "Install zip from SD card"
When pressing Volyme - + Volyme up + Power I get a black screen. Nothing more happens.
And after flashing the flash-boot in NvFlash the phone goes into s/w upgrade please wait while upgrading-mode.
And there it is. Stuck. Nothing more happens. I repeted the procedure for 5 times. I only get to the s/w-mode.
After 3 hours I unplugged it and will restart my search today for what's blocking it to continue.
Hm? Hmmmm....? Any suggestions in what might be wrong?
You have to push and hold only Vol- and Power this time ^^ That will get you into CWM if the flash-boot.bat went right.
Great, I'm in!
But I managed to place the SU zip on wrong device (internal, not external).
How do I get out from cwm-mode, there's no "exit" options?
There should be a Reboot option, use it and your phone will boot as usual. When you're done moving the SU zip file to the external SD card, power off your 2X and do as instructed above to enter CWM again ^^
Thank you for replying so quickly!!!!!
There is a reboot option BUT I unfortunately pressed adb sideload (hoping to install the SU.zip that way, but the device is not to be found on the PC at all in that mode so I can't reach it through cmd either!).
So, I'm completely STUCK at adb sideolad-mode.... (sorry). I'm starting to get grey hair.
Hahahah XD don't worry, just remove the battery and put it back again ^^
*BIG SMILE* Guess what? I have root access! *jumping up and down of joy*
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU so very much for your guidance!
I believe in passing knowledge forward and I will do my best to help others noobs with what you just learned me!
For a stubborn noob like me I was not reflecting over some obvious things though. As that the SU.zip had to be placed on SD-card (and not being unzipped in C: )
And that I had to get the Nvidia APX in order to make NvFlash to work properly (and search through Google to find it and how to make it work).
And that when I'm stuck in CWM I can always remove the battery.
Once again. I'm very glad and THANK you and all credit to You!
You know, I decided to help you because of your will to learn and do stuff by yourself. Many come here and ask for help without trying anything by themselves first, so I actually enjoyed watching you learn ^^
See? It wasn't that hard. All it takes is a lot of reading and patience.
Good job, and welcome to XDA!

[Q] Problem flashing from USB Key

Dear All,
I need some help!
I had a weird issue with my tab over the weekend where it would boot to the upgrading dialog, but would only say application 1 of 1, rather than the usual 50+. This would run for hours, so I decided just to reflash the os again without a clean wipe. I imagine this may have been a bad idea. So, I went into CWM and went to flash again, but the tablet crashed just as it started the flashing process, which was bad enough. However, when I went back into CWM, I remembered Nandroid backup and I hoped I had made one! However, rather than hit recover, I selected store (clicked without thinking), which was the cherry on the top of my day of major you-know-whats.
So, the .zip (I think it is v10.1) appears to be corrupt, so I can't flash my original again.
I can't boot the OS to transfer over a new .zip (10.2 would be nice) as I normally would, as I can't start Android at all.
Putting the files on a FAT-formatted USB key isn't recognised by CWM. Trying to mount usb storage gave an error regarding lun path.
So, my questions are:
1) Is there a way to transfer an image onto the internal storage of my tab via CWM, or get it to recognise the USB storage?
2) What are my other options, if 1) isn't possible.
3) If 2) is answered in the negative, have I just made myself a fancy coaster and a good excuse to get a LG G-Pad?
Thanks for your help!

Hi upconvert,
Thanks for the suggestion.
I can get to download mode and I did try to flash a stock ROM from a hotfiles link provided elsewhere on this site last night. However, at NAND Write Start I get three errors on my tablet: WritePartition, DownloadPartition_odin, and Tegra_Nand_Write. I'm not sure what they mean (google didn't reveal any added info). I'm assuming it means the flash storage is either write-protected or can't be found?
I'm going to try and download the ROM again in case it was corrupted somehow. I will retry in the meantime but after I've wiped it again. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Ok, I was able to wipe /data, but it seems to be hanging when trying to wipe /cache. I'd expect it to be finishing in a few seconds, but this is going for minutes.

Oh and by the way, SAMMobile website has a new mirror website, so now you can download Odin tar files again

and Here is the the latest FW for P7310, I don't have any other mirrors for that
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I can't even get access to CWM anymore. Goes straight to Odin download mode after the Samsung splash screen. Unfortunately, I found another post on XDA that seems to explain my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1532636&page=3
I think the HDD has died completely, as I am getting exactly what that chap was getting. I can't install a PIT file. I couldn't access my sdcard from CWM previously either. Sounds like tablet is a goner. Will post to Samsung and see what they say.
Thanks for your time.

Oh and by the way, SAMMobile website has a new mirror website, so now you can download Odin tar files again
Directly Here is the latest FW for P7300 , and if you're more comfortable with dev-host mirror than Here you go (the two files are the same latest release)
and Here is the the latest FW for P7310, I don't have any other mirrors for that

Tab repaired by Samsung
Ok, eventually sent my tab off to Samsung for warranty repair. Received it back and working fine now. Not sure what they did in the end, but got my tab back at least. Thanks for everyone's help.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.

Dont bother, I have tried for a week straight trying to unbrick mine. I did a factory reset and it destroyed my whole filesystem. :/
i just got mine so i just got a replacement from amazon
Mine was a present and I have no idea where they got it and they tossed the receipt. I'm sol. I'm broke so RMA may take a while as well! xD

Also for getting into recovery follow these steps. Turn off. Hold volume down and also power. When Asus pops up release power and keep hold of volume until the bootloader appears. On bootloader go down to boot recovery. When it reboots to an android guy hold volume up and down at the same time. Let go of volume up and do this r over and over until it goes to recovery. The steps are ridiculous but I know it for sure because my last week of trying to fix mine has been hell.

I bricked mine, but I am adventurous so found a method to recover to factory.
I'm not providing links as they are searchable here on XDA.
The steps are:
1) Get the factory image from Asus
2) Get FB Tethered Recovery Launcher
3) boot into fastboot mode
4) Hook up to computer
5) ensure the device is listed with correct drivers
6) Run ADB (from your platform tools, there is a copy in FBRL folder)
8) copy the zip file from Asus to the device (adb push /path/to/local/file /mnt/sdcard/path/to/file)
9) Run launcher from FB recovery
10) Choose T2 option, follow prompts to let it do it's thing
11) You should boot into CWM on the device
12) install from zip and point to the zip file you pushed earlier
13) Follow the prompts, and presto, restored to factory and can root/update etc.
I'd like to say thanks to the good info posted here and in other threads. I got stuck in a boot loop tonight and had no idea if I'd be able to fix it. Here's what I did (combination of this thread and others)
My method requires an micro SD card and an Internet connection
1. Confirm you can boot into fastboot:
---->Reboot into fastboot (droid boot) by powering device off (hold power button down), then holding down volume up while powering on. I released the up button once the screen went blank. It should eventually present options to reboot into droidboot, reboot, update from SD, etc.
2. Download the newest firmware from ASUS
YOU NEED THE WW version most likely (worldwide?)
3. Save this to the root of your SD card
4. rename file to MOFD_SDUPDATE.zip
5. Insert card into tablet.
6. While in droidboot/fastboot Choose the option to update from SD. It reboots and uploads the firmware. I was pleasantly surprised that I got my tablet back so easily.
Hope this helps some other poor soul.
There are other methods, but in simplicity, yours seems to win the match. Thank you very much.

I do not get the option to Update from SD while in DroidBoot...why is that? I get the other options...REBOOT, REBOOT DROIDBOOT, RECOVERY, POWER OFF.
Please help! I've already sent this back to Asus, and they just sent it right back to me.

Click on recovery. Inside recovery you'll get a "no command" screen. Hit the center of the volume rocker (it'll take a few tries) and you'll see the update command.

Try this, then.
In the main thread somebody linked a temporary cwm session. Try booting into it and installing the update from there (Nandroid while you're at it )
Why would I not even have the option though??

I'm not exactly sure.
I need some help. I have average experience with ADB and cannot get ADB to recognize my device. Debugging on of course, and I dowloaded the zip for the drivers. I don't really know where to go from here. Any help will be greatly appreciated! I need to get this thing back up and running!!

[TOT][RESTORE] LG LS991 ZV5 TOT

NOTICE: ZV6 or higher Users - Received reports that attempting to revert to ZV5 may brick your device.
Recommend holding off for now, will try to get ZV6. (Also attempting to confirm.)
OK, I know folks have been in need and an anonymous source has been kind enough to share.
Here is the TOT for LS991 ZV5. I'm passing it on to @autoprime who will be adding more below on how to use it.
Please make sure to give Team Codefire a huge thanks for what they do with LG devices.
It's one thing to get restore files, it's a completely different (and much more challenging) one to do things like root it.
Cheers!
ZV5 TOT is out!
Don't use this TOT if you are on ZV6 or higher.. you will brick.
Thanks to an anonymous donor and to @garwynn we now have the ZV5 TOT. No more soft bricks! I have also broken down the TOT and uploaded the individual partitions.
Changelog:
Fix for Google Factory Reset Protection issue that does not allow user to bypass WiFi after performing a ##RTN on the device. User can now bypass WiFi
LG has also implemented a touchscreen enhancement into the software
ZV5 also updates the bootloader version from v0 to v1.
--TOT can be downloaded *HERE*
For those familiar with LG's.. this is flashed the same way as previous models... LG OG, G2, G3 etc etc.
1. Download LG Flash Tool. Swap the included mega.dll (click here to see video)
2. Download the LGFLASH_LG_G4_CODEFIRE.dll
3. Download the ZV5 TOT and unzip it.
4. If LG drivers are not already installed, download and install them.
5. Place phone into download mode
6. Set phones serial COM port to COM41 in Windows Device Manager. Unplug USB cable then plug it back in.
7. Run LG Flash Tool.
8. Select LGFLASH_LG_G4_CODEFIRE.dll for DLL, LS991ZV5_05.tot for TOT and check off "BOARD DL"
9. Hit OK to continue. Now hit the yellow start button. LG Flash Tool should now perform a CRC check on the TOT.
10. Unplug the USB cable again then plug it back in... wait 5-20 seconds and hopefully the flash should now start.
When it finishes it'll boot into miniOS. Hold the power button then press the "Normal Boot" option on the screen.
The above steps are "to the point" and there's not much hand holding so new LG flashers may be a bit confused. Feel free to ask questions in this thread and hopefully other users will chime in and assist with specific questions. But for extra help here is a how-to video going over the process. Only differences is phone model and TOT/DLL files used... rest can be applied.
Also here is a G4 Return to Stock thread... the lower section of the OP has step by step directions and screenshots for the entire LG Flash install process and TOT flash.
--Individual ZV5 partitions to flash manually can be downloaded *HERE*
Stock system.img is not included in that list due to redundancy. The stock rooted ZV5 system.img can be found in the Low Effort Root thread.
--ZV4-to-ZV5 OTA update.zip *NOTYETAVAILABLE*
This was links somewhere previously... I'll have to look for it again.
You must be on ZV4 and have a stock recovery and stock system partition for this to work.
Directions:
1. Rename downloaded .zip into update.zip
2. Remove USB cable from phone.
3. Power phone off.
4. Press and hold volume down + power until you boot into stock recovery.
5. Select "update with adb"
Code:
adb sideload update.zip
Alternate Directions to skip using ADB (needs microSD card):
1. Format microSD card as EXT4.
2. Rename downloaded .zip to update.zip
3. Move update.zip onto external SD card. EZ way would be to stick SD card in phone then connect phone to PC and use MTP.
4. Power off and boot into stock recovery (vol down + power)
5. Select the Update from SDCARD option.

thank you so much, whoever leaked this!
and of course OP and codefire..
:highfive:
You guys are awesome!
Edit: Getting a 403 Forbidden on the LGFLASH_LG_G4_CODEFIRE.dll
All fixed! Thanks autoprime!
Went through everything, after rebooting at the end of th LG Flash Tool, phone rebooted to Factory Reset Status 2, blue screen.
UPDATE 1: Now the LG Flash Tool is not even starting to flash. The phone is back in DL mode and eveything is as it should be, but the flash tool is not doing anything
UPDATE 2: Switched USB ports, oddly that made LG Flash Tool Work. USED BOARD DL AND IT WORKED.
Instructions for Linux?
Which TOT file should be used? The one posted by garwynn (1.59GB) or Autoprimes? (1.98GB) TOT? whats the differences?

I'm fairly certain they're the same, they're just using different compression methods (.7z in garwynn's post, .zip in autoprime's). .7z is a better method of compression, thus the smaller file size. The .tot files should be the same size when extracted.
Any way of using this TOT method after flashing the US991 firmware(I mistakenly flashed it thinking it's the KDZ for Sprint)? I keep getting "DoDownload Error!!!"

run windows in a virtual machine. or find a windows computer. or reverse LG's download mode protocol, extract the tot and find a way to flash it over a serial connection in linux.

Try flashing the rooted Sprint system.img thru download mode.. just as if you were rooting. putting sprint system.img on the phone might get around the error. actually... as I'm typing this.. you might be able to just edit the build.prop in the us991 rom. if you use a build.prop editor make sureyou also have busybox installed or many buildprop apps wont actually work. and you'll need root to edit build.prop of course.
if no root.. might as well just flash the rooted sprint system.img tho. see how that goes.
Thanks for this! I've been waiting almost a month! So happy it's finally out!!
Quick question; my phone is rooted and has been running xposed for weeks no problem. Today, the phone randomly rebooted and has since been in a boot loop that sometimes ends with "secure boot error error 1006" in top left corner of the android boot screen a second then restarts. I believe can still enter download mode to the point where it asks to "update firmware, do not unplug..."but sometimes I get the secure boot error here as well.
I assume I should attempt to fix this with the tot? Anyone else have any suggestions? I don't want to mess the phone up further if there are easier ways to fix this.

Nope. Use the tot and restore it then root it again.
If you've never used a tot or lg tools to restore am LG device it's very easy and won't take long at all.

After I completed the tot I attempted to reboot. I now have an security error 1007 error code in the top left and also a security error; authentication problem #9.
Edit: I pulled the battery and now it seems Android is starting and doesn't show the error code but freezes shortly after boot before it restarts itself?
I assume I have to reroot it to get around this error code as well but I am unable to enable mtp or usb debugging before it restarts

At the end of flashing the TOT with the Lg Tool you may have been on the screen where you have to "press normal + reboot* hopefully that's the option you pressed. IF you haven't a clue what I am talking about, then you for some reason got a different screen.
Once you use the TOT file and restore using the LG Tool (and the tutorial mentioned) you should be fully back to stock like you just got the phone, without any issues. Did you make sure you chose BOARD at the bottom left of the Manual selection of the dll & added the tot?
Click to collapse
I responded in PM but yes, I used BOARD and I was able to get to the MiniOS screen where you hold power and select normal + reboot. It's after rebooting where it continues to a) boot loop till a blank screen appears and only a battery pull can trigger another boot B) Gets to android but then freezes before I can even activate C) Shows secure boot error code 1007 or Security error; authetication code #9 and prevents the boot.
The upgrade method triggers the same blue screen as others have mentioned. I really don't know what went wrong with the phone in the first place, I had been rooted and using xposed without any new apps or updates for the last couple of weeks. The phone literally rebooted while it was charging and hasn't been right since even after using the tot.
I may try my other computer for just to test -> Just tried and same thing happened; either boot loops, security error, or makes it past the Sprint Spark screen and android is starting screen before freezing.
Has anyone successfully restored TOT? Seems like a lot of folks are having issues.
Jessooca said:
I have. I tested the file just to make sure it worked. What issue are YOU having?
It's honestly a fairly simple procedure. You can watch this video (I believe it's also mentioned in the beginning of this thread)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WgXuxDbmbc Pretty much all you need is from 2:45 and on in the video.
Just be sure to select BOARD at the bottom of the screen, when selecting the dll and adding the tot file. At times people have forgot to change it from upgrade to Board.
-After it's finished
Pull the battery, hold Volume UP and Power, let go of Power on the LG Logo screen as mentioned for one second, Press power again while continuing to hold Volume Up and you'll get into recovery, do a wipe and reboot. It should fix any other issues.
