But I can't seem to find an answer. I'm fearing that I have bricked my cappy. I flashed the "Le Kernel Du Jour" on cm7 whenever it came out, and now starting this morning, I'm stuck in a bootloop. I'm not sure what to do, I was going to try to flash back to stock but when I enter download mode, it says my computer doesn't recognize the device. I've tried to download the driver but I'm having a bit of trouble installing it. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm pretty freaked out right now. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
If you can get into recovery and flash the last update you have or the initial cm7 package. I would go to mounts first then format cache, sysytem, data. Then flash, then factory reset.

if flashing the kernel messed you up then .... (insert logic here)
get into recovery or download mode and fix your problem!
Please post to the CM7 sticky in this forum.
Thread closed, please post in the correct forum.
I have a samsung captivate and i have been using the ROM fasty 2.5 for the past few months and i noticed there was a fasty III 1.3, So i went into my clockwork recovery and back up'd my system and data and whiped it all and proceeded to install the ZIP to my phone. When it all had finished i tried to reboot my phone and i got this staticy screen and then it would repeatedly restart over and over back to the static. So i then forced it to stay off and tried to boot it up to the recovery menu by holding the volume buttons and the power button and it can't boot to the recovery menu. Instead it just stays at the I896 screen. Is there anything i can do to fix this problem? i need my phone working as soon as possible so any help would be very much appreciated!
Sounds to me like you didn't flash the GB bootloaders. Might need to get yourself a jig and then flash the right bootloaders

Sorry for being a huge noob, but i'm still pretty new to this whole thing. What a jig?

I checked all the sticky notes and the web and it looks like these all include me messing around with the insides of my phone and tinkering with the hardware. I am not very comfortable doing that or do i have the understanding or tools to mess with that. Is there anything i can do software related to unbrick this. Or is my phone truly F'd?
No worries! I ended up using odin3 to restore it. Thank you very much for your help anyways! i will be sure to grab those GB loaders this time.
Hey im sort of a noob with rooting, but I just rooted my galaxy tab 8.9 and installed clockwork recovery, and I went to install a custom rom but it wont turn on, nor will it boot to recovery. It shuts off after it gets to the samsung logo. I really need help and I thought maybe if I removed the cover and took out the battery it would stop the proccess because on the clockwork rom manager app I hit install from SD card to install the custom rom and it shut off and wouldnt go to recovery. Just my thoughts but I seriously need help with it. Thanks ahead of time!
Which tab type?

Rom manager doesn't work for gt8.9. You are not the first person who tried it, search in development forum for solution.
I was trying to root and install a custom ROM on my phone when this happens.
I suffered 3 kinds of brick that I recognized from reading the forum's guides.
So here's the story:
I install SuperUser and CWM through the stock recovery mode.
After that I tried to wipe everything with CWM from my phone as I wanted to downgrade from my update Official ICS back to the stock GingerBread ROM. (This is to prevent any problems to install the new custom ICS. Read on forum also*)
During the wipe, CWM got stucked at somewhere at the start of the process (Forgotten what it was). It was about more than 15minutes before I made my decision to stop it by holding the power button. Obviously this caused a bootloop or something like a soft brick (Stuck at boot screen).
After the first brick encounter, I tried to fix it by flashing the stock GingerBread ROM directly with Odin without wiping anything as it was stucked in the first step. By doing this, I think I had a Super Brick as the installation also got stucked at loading factoryfs.img image file. There's no solution to this as I looked up in the forums for quite some time.
So, I cancelled the installation and my phone wouldn't start up again. There's no sign of battery charging when plugged in and it wouldn't start by holding the power button. Unable to access recovery/download mode. Odin also didn't recognize my device.
Can anyone here kindly advice me on what should I do now? In deep sad mode -.-

my suggestion is to read this and run before you get bombarded http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321268
I think you dont know what you are doing, as you dont know where to post so i think its better off you dont do anything with your phone
It should be in Q&A forum....Moderators please move it to appropriate forum.....
Stop irritating him. How do you feel if your phone got bricked and don't know what to do.
Coming to the topic. You did not follow basic steps, you used the wrong method of rooting that to on ICS. Don't think that your phone is bricked. Did you flash any custom kernel. I think you were trying too many things and your phone is dead. This happened to me once, I thought my phone is bricked and didn't know what to do. But I remembered I had a external battery adapter charger and charged my battery separetly and know what it worked. Try charging your phone separetly.

Have you read the post quoted below?

Please read and see if it helps. Or maybe you have already tried the process outlined.
All the best to you.
I'm sorry to post in the wrong section of the forum. It was my mistake to not read instructions carefully.
Now I have sent it to the service center and waiting for their response. But I didn't do anything like put my phone in the microwave or anything.
So does that means they will find out that I did something to my phone and void my warranty?

Great! Have Happy Times Flashing Safely! Cheers.
Ok my phone is stuck on a blank screen after turn on, it was on Cyan but i wanted to bring it back to stock and that didnt work, so at this point im stuck with Android system recovery <3e> not much else to do, is there a way to download the stock rom at this point or what should i do?? step by step would be very helpful
You don't have cmw or something? I hope so. The first thing you need to do if you can is put a custom recovery. But the fact that it boots up at all is a plus. If you don't have a custom recovery you need to find a update.zip straight up factory deal. That may help you a lot.
